Definitely overrated. Coffee and waffle benedict were ok. But avoid ordering the duck and hot choco if you can. The duck is too salty which is made worse by the bitter oily salad. The hot choco is a totally nightmare (at least purchase some good quality choco sauce). With the 20% holiday surcharge, we do expect them not to be so forgetful or neglect when we want to order. With this location, rating and pricing, they could have done better.

It was highly recommend by many bloggers and I have to say it never disappoint you.
The coffee was perfect and give a shout out to the egg benedict waffles. The looking is not super fancy but yum.

I was totally disappointed with their food: we had crab scrambled eggs. The eggs were overcooked, stringy, and the crab is tasteless; plus the toast underneath is soggy and kinda burnt. Won't return!

The place is well designed and cozy. The service was really good, they looked after their customers pretty well.
We ordered Mocha for $4.50 and Chai Latte for $4.50 to start off our brunch. No doubt the coffee in Seven Seed was really good, but it was over the average regular mocha price.

For the breakfast dishes we ordered Truffle Omelette (Yarra valley feta, huitlacoche, chilli, chiltomate sauce, toasted sourdough) for $19.00 and Coconut Crusted Crumpet French Toast for $18.00 (Grilled pineapple, basil seeds, rice pudding, goji and quinoa crumbs, chocolate soil, pineapple curd).
.
The Truffle Omelette was really nice presented and the taste was alright and wasn't extraordinary.
We preferred The Truffle Omelette compared to Crusted Crumpet as it was too sweet and more like desert rather than breakfast dish, also the combination of all the sauce put in crusted crumpet didn't go well. The price of breakfast menu was average for a brunch place; However, certainly the coffee was little bit expensive. Seved Seeds is doing great job in the coffee but not in the brunch dishes, not recommended to order the Truffle Omelette and Coconut Crusted Crumpet.

Terrific specialty coffee shop in an otherwise quiet part of town. The scrambled eggs were delicious and not too creamy or salty. The brewed filter coffee had plenty of punch and it's good to see the origins of the beans and to know that growers are adequately paid. I just wish the company was also as transparent about the source of their eggs, and by extension, animal welfare.

Coffee is easily one of the best in Melbourne. Which is expected since they roast their own.

Breakfast is pretty good too. Eggs Benedict Waffles are super tasty with their chipotle hollandaise. Service is quick and friendly.. Cant go wrong with Seven Seeds

We had breakfast here and we weren't disappointed - though we almost walked past it as it is trendy and low profile, but that adds to the appeal. The menu has some great choices on it and the choices are different from your standard fare at most cafes.

Honestly my all time favourite. Great food, great vibe, and close to the University of Melbourne. They ve recently reshuffled the interior a little bit, making it seem more open and spacious.

Great place for a breakfast/brunch/lunch or just a coffee to catch up with friends. Good coffee too

In the photo with 3 dishes, there's the pork neck roti, beef brisket, and waffle Benedict. The brisket and waffles are classics at seven seeds.

In the photo with 2 dishes, there's the mushrooms with polenta chips hiding underneath, and the Wagyu burger with added bacon and egg.

I and my friend ordered this oat porriage and baked egg. That baked egg is ordinary but that porriage is fanscinating and my friend just reported that like 'i could not grab any word to describe the first taste, like ballooning into the sky!!!' That vanilla ice cream on the top is not chilly in the warm porriage. Good as brekkie.

I really enjoyed breakfast here.
Service was good and I highly rate the coffee. The breakfast options were well done however I note many of the options came with chilli. I am not the biggest spicy fan however it was mainly garnish so easily avoided.
Recommend checking out this place, just a little out of the CBD but a very pleasant and easy stroll.

Went there on a Saturday for brunch with 2 friends. Love the food and coffee but they are on the pricier end. On top of that there is a 10% surcharge on weekends!! Lesson learnt, don t go there on weekends.

Very lovely setting, great service with friendly attentive staff. Presentation of food and coffee was outstanding. Food tastes great but the coffee was BLAND (only reason for 4*)

Seven seeds was busy but it does not feel busy. The wood and earth tones coupled with high ceiling help you feel comfortable in a busy cafe.

There was a wait to be seated but this was not an issue. The coffee took around 5-8 minutes which is a little long, but given the Sunday brunch rush time it was not unreasonable. Amazing latte art; very impressed but the coffee was surprisingly bland. Food was wholesome and filling. Would return but would avoid the house blend coffee.

Ordered the famous egg benedict, it was great but I am not sure if it s worth the price. Same goes for other dish. The bread was too hard to slice and chew, it hurt my mouth. I went in the morning about 9am, it was very quiet and my friends are I were the only ones talking. I would visit alone again to grab a coffee, but won t come for food with a group of friends.

Great food and coffee. I would give the place a 4.5 but since I can't I'll round it up to a 5. I would have expected a little more selection on the milk based espresso drinks for a higher end coffee shop, but what we had was excellent no less. The food was delicious, we had the Avo Smash and Chocolate French Toast. Both were amazing, compared to other places in Melbourne the portions were a bit on the small side for the price.

Undoubtedly one of the best brunch cafes in Melbourne! I really liked their spacious warehouse-style interiors with friendly staff on site. I am not really a huge fan of brunch but we ended up having their famous "Eggs and Waffle Benedict" ($18) and "Crab Scramble" ($24).
.
Eggs and Waffle Benedict = Basically a waffle stuffed with smoked ham hock and cheddar cheese with 2 poached eggs on top - finished off with chipotle hollandaise sauce. It tasted ok but the moisture from smoked ham and cheese inside made the waffle a bit too soggy. And I definitely think that they could've thrown in an extra egg considering the size of the waffle. But of course, beautiful presentation!
.
Crab Scramble = Chili salsa, coriander & mint salad, crispy garlic & shallots, szechuan pepper caramel on toast. In terms of taste, I'd rather choose this one over benedict. A decent portion with mild spicy kicks. I really enjoyed this experimental fusion style dish - layers of different taste profiles from contrasting ingredients coming together beautifully as a whole :) .
Overall, not bad but kinda expected more considering its popularity. Probably won't visit anytime soon but definitely a pleasant experience everytime I go.
