The best place to learn about this endangered species so we able to help, the orang Utan from dying out. Best place to see the animal nearby in a protected environment. Close and personal, which it's kinda hard to see in the wild. Educational and help us to understand more, why this mammals need to be protected. Orang Utan are only available in Borneo.

how we wish more local (Sandakan people to be exact) to visit this place
only rm5/adult per entry (for Malaysian), it is a must go specially with kids
the best place to educate ourself the importance of preserving the environment
bit of walk from the entrance to viewing stage, but orang utan viewing worth the walk, also you can learn & see so much flora & fauna along the walk
they have viewing stage if you arrive pass the feeding time
there are two wings for the viewing stage, on the right wing no-aircond room, left wing aircond room with kids zone available
bonus : we get close encounter with orang utan on our way back to the lobby. the orang utan was casually going around and happen to take rest at the walkway

If you are traveling to Borneo visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre is a must do! It is in Sandakan which is just a 40 minute flight OR 5 to 6 hour drive from Kota Kinabalu.

The staff here are very informative and proud of the work they do. It s a great experience to see orangutans in the semi wild and learn about all of the rescue efforts that go into saving orphans. The best time to see the orangutans is during feeding time which is at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM; however, they roam freely so you do have the chance of seeing them outside of these times.

Right next door is the Sun Bear Conservation Centre which is also a must see.

Place is near Sandakan town, only about less than half-hours drive. Clean, with good toilet facilities. Very nicely kept. We were late for the first feeding at 9.30am, so we proceeded to watch the baby orangutan gym. It is where they were released to a play area and can have some jungle interaction. Viewing through a glass window. There are seats for visitors and it's air-conditioned. Toilet available here too. The bear sanctuary is right nest to this place, so while waiting for second feeding at 2 o'clock, you can go and catch a glimpse of the sun bears. We spotted a few running around and climbing trees. Telescope is provided for viewing the bears closer. It was drizzling and the centre thoughtfully provided some umbrellas. There is a platform that you walk on into the forest to view the bears. We continued to the orangutan viewing area but unfortunately no orangutan came out, so we jst proceeded to the gym area again. The forest guides will inform and guide you about where to go. After some time, we were told there are some orangutan that came out for feeding. We managed to see 2 adult female orangutans feeding! Please get your cameras ready, it was drizzling when we were ther, so a hat or poncho/umbrella might be handy. The platform can be slippery in places, so wear proper shoes, or walk carefully. It's about a 10-15 minutes walk to the gym area. Overall, love it, it's good to be in the middle of the jungle and be able to see and in the presence of such majestic wild animals. Definitely different from being in a zoo.

It was unique time to see orangutans having breakfast at 10am in the nursery. Giant wild orangutan came as well. Ticket price was RM30 per person, RM10 for camera. Lockers to keep your belongings was for free.

Great cause. Great organisation. The orangutans are looked after very well. Even though there wasn't many orangutans at our morning feeding session it's a good thing as it means the orangutans are learning to love freely in the wild. 100% awesome experience.l especially seeing the younger more playful ones getting along.

Small orangutan centre with unsuitable - ugly viewing nursery building - architecture which doesn't correspond to the nature and the surrounding environment, dirty glass with bad reflections destruct the viewers' experience. Don't miss very good and informative film and gallery at the entrance of the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation centre. The nearby Sandakan Forest Research Centre would be a much better choice to enjoy spotting orangutans in the nature.

AMAZING! Literally all my dreams came true here! We were super lucky and saw the orangutans playing wildly and within such close range! They re doing really great work here too so even if you come and don t see them (you re guaranteed to in the nursery) you know that means they are doing well and don t have to come back for food and also you re supporting a centre doing really positive work! Win win! It was only 30rm entry which is really low for the experience. Definitely go to the morning and afternoon sessions. Cover yourself in mosquito repellant if you re susceptible to bites. And maybe allow time to go back the following day as we did to ensure 3-4 opportunities for sightings.
Also appreciated that the people working there were respectful in ensuring tourists kept distance from the orangutans and didn t interfere with them in their natural habitat. We were really lucky to snap a quick photo before being ushered along. Which I think is totally fair. Go with the expectation you might not see them as we were really lucky but if you do it ll be the most amazing experience!

A great place to visit and to get up close with the Orangutang. There are precautionary measures in place before you can enter the Centre. All backpacks and loose items like purses, bum bags and the like, must be locked up in lockers (free of charge). If you bring a camera you have to pay an extra fee. Mobile phones can be taken inside without charge. There are two feeding times on two different feeding platforms that are next to the Centre. Raised wooden walkways are in place to get you there. The morning feeding time was unsuccessful when I was there and it was extremely busy with touring busses full of visitors. We left earlier and decided to come back for the second feeding time in the afternoon. At that time we got a lot more space on the viewing platforms and there were quite a few Orangutangs about. We even got a surprise visit from a large wild male that came very close to the audience and a short moment of panic broke out amongst the carers. One of the smaller females took a baby stroller and made a run with it through the audience. The only advice that I can give you is to take the afternoon feeding time as there are no touring buses present at that time of day which made it much more enjoyable.

Great work being done here.

Great work being done here.
The air conditioned infants viewing room is brilliant on a hot day.
Don't expect to always see adults come in for feeding. We were lucky enough to see two on our visit.

If you want to visit a place where they torture Orang-oetans with tasers then this is the right place! The people there are violent to the animals and if they are a bit curious they start to grab their tasers. Disgusting.

This is the must do the thing you have to do at Sandakan. Visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center is the perfect choice for nature lovers. Two feeding times; at 10 am and 3 pm; so if you have a luck you will meet them. Surprisingly my visit is unbelievable where i have met two Orangutans; namely Kalibatu and Mimi (gosh with her child) very up close and personal!! There also a nursery for young Orangutans. You can watch they eat and play; trust me they are adorable! You also can adopted them if i'm not mistaken beginning from RM 200. Save Orangutan! Recommended the most.

Orangutans are amazing animals! They clearly look after them well here and my only criticism of the experience would be the sheer volume of cameras brought by tourists to the feeding. Couldn't help but feel that people were more interested in obtaining a good snap to show their friends than enjoying the moment and respecting the animals.

Small monkeys are cute!

Small monkeys are cute!
A minibus terminal in the city of Sandagan, a bus labeled 14 and at 9 o'clock, arrived at 9:45 and arrived at 6 ringgit.
On the way home, I made a mistake at the bus stop (the roofed bench outside the facility was a bus stop, but there was no timetable)
I had time to go to the next and I felt like taking a walk,
Walk to Route 22 and arrive at Sandagan's minibus terminal on the minibus labeled 16 at the bus stop!
It is important to ask the bus driver!

Quite incredible center. Go around feeding time to be able to see orangutans (although you can also easily spot them st the nursery center, just not as in a so natural habitat). During feeding times there are wild Orangutans coming too. Mothers with babies and big males.

Orangutans are fed through glass, which is not completely clean and glare. Duration no more than half an hour, the cost of the excursion is 30 ringit per adult and 15 per child, a camera or camera for another 10.
With any luck, you can see orangutans swinging on branches near the tracks.
For show, you can go, the second time you would definitely not go.
In the territory there is a decent cafe, the menu is quite diverse, the prices are in the city, for three you can have a bite for 30-50 ringit.

OK, you will see the Orangutans here, if that is what you want in your photo gallery. Sometimes watching the tourists is even funnier. A bit of a nice zoo feeling although their labor is very noble. Linger for a bit more than feeding times and you might have some close encounters. If you really respect those animals try to see them in the wild, like in Danum or Kinabanatangan, not guaranteed, 200% more rewarding. Still recommended. The fried noodles at the cafeteria are truly something.
