It is best to come at 10 am feeding time if you want to have a close encounter with the orangutans. The place is well taken care of. The longer observation room at the nursery has an air conditioning and nice seats for resting.

If you are in Borneo, you should definitely have the Orangutan Rehabilitation Center in Sepilok on your screen, because it is an absolute highlight to watch wild orangutans feeding how they swing down from tall, hundreds of year old rainforest giants, sometimes only half a year Meters from the tourists. We have now looked at this uniqueness twice and are thrilled every time. You can take pictures without having to pay for it. You don't have to watch the half-hour video, we missed it on the second visit and spent more time with the monkeys.

We had a great time at Sepilok. The sanctuary is great as it allows you to see the orangutans up close enough but without disturbing them in their rehabilitation. The feeding platform is hot so make sure you wear a hat. we managed to see 5 orangutans the day we went and we had a fantatstic visit.

Wonderful and life affirming place. Nice to see the "nursery" with the little orangutans and the larger area of "teenagers" who can just leave the area when they feel like and / or get tired of the diet.

The orangutans can be seen at close distance during the feeding time at 10.00 AM - 12.00 PM and 2.00PM - 4.00PM. It takes about twenty minutes to reach the feeding location by walking. The walking path built with hard wood is located in the virgin jungle. Variety species of jungle trees can be seen along the walking path. The trees have been growing there for hundred and even thousand years.

A slightly different orangutan regeneration center than Semeggoh. In my opinion, animals are becoming too humanized. Group kindergarten, rangers who guide you by the hand isw. Still worth a visit.

Orangutans appeared at the beginning of one but unfortunately I did not have time to look until the time was up due to the demands of nature

Whatever the management explains well during the briefing session.

Hard to explain how important this centre is. It s an extremely crucial to visit and support. The centre opens in the morning, closes for lunch and then opens again int he afternoon. There are 2 feeding times, one at 11am & the afternoon one is at 3pm. We went in the afternoon session and started in the nursery area observing the younger Orangutans playing and then being feed. At around 2.40pm you can then head over to the adult feeding station. The food is placed on the platform at 3pm and you stand opposite. Be aware that this area will get extremely busy as everybody wants to get prime view and that perfect Instagram picture. The orangutans don t show up like clockwork, these ones are semi wild and are probably feeding somewhere else but be patient it s worth it! Don t forget the Sunbear centre though aswell. These are also incredible!

Awesome place! Its nice to have the animals roaming free and people in a box instead. Lockers are included with the price of admission and they are in a person-guarded room staffed by park workers. 2 things to note: No bags/purses permitted into the park and there is an extra charge per camera/phone brought in. We took an uber here from Sandakan, i cant remember the price but it was half the price of a taxi flat rate in December 2017.

Great facility doing important rehab work for the orangutans. This place is well done with great board walks through the forest where you can spot many types of wildlife along side the orangutans. I came here in the afternoon so the activity level was lower but still really enjoyed supporting this organization. The film is also totally worth checking out when you are there.

This is definitely the place to visit if you want to get up close, perhaps too close in out case, to some wonderfully curions (and Dangerous) Orangutans.

When we were there, they would actually let the Orangutans simply wander around the sanctuary; our group nearly walked into a big one

This was my second visit to sepilok, having visited 2 years ago. Due to my past experience of overcrowding at a morning feeding I decided to instead visit the afternoon feeding this time. As suggested in lonely planet, this was a much nicer experience, with far smaller crowds. As it turned out, only 2 young apes turned up for feeding (fruiting season has just begun meaning orangutans can find plenty of food without needing to return to sepilok). The jungle gym was a joy, watching young apes learn how to cope in the wild. The problem with this is that you watch from an indoor enclosure through glass that hasnt been cleaned for quite some time, meaning getting good photos can be an issue. My only criticism is the price, much more expensive than semenggoh and watch out, they charge you to take a camera!

Great place to see orangutans and they are doing some great work at the centre. So a worthy cause to support. Can be quite busy, so a very different experience to seeing a truly wild orangutan, but a whole lot easier!

It is a nice place to see the Orangutans. It's a rehabilitation center (?). You pay the entrance, you visit in an hour / hour and a half. There are two times a day when they feed the orangutans (in the afternoon it's 3pm). But don't expect too much. Outside a small restaurant bar (with free wifi useful for calling a Grab). Walkable from the Sepilok jungle hotel area. Adjacent is the Sun bear conservatory park. If you are in Borneo it is worth going there ...

Amazing place! Definitely worth a visit. Only irritating thing is the human noise, lots of Chinese tourist who don't know how to stay silent! Scaring away the Orangutans. I am not picking on Chinese only some dumb Europeans as well. Respect your surroundings.

These guys deserves a clear cut 5 star for the work they are doing. Rehabilitation of endangered and mistreated orangutangs right in their natural habitat. Amazing experience. Saw feeding at 9.30 and the late afternoon. Morning by far the best for us.

Such a spectacular place offering the chance to see wild Oranguatans in a rehabilitation centre that works incredibly hard in conservation. A real once-in-a-lifetime, bucket list trip and worth every penny.

Great experience! The orangutan feeding was wonderful, and the baby orangutans playing in the nursery were adorable. The entire organization has a very important and respectful mission, and it's amazing to help and support it. It is quite hot and you aren't able to bring water with you, but that's a policy for the good of people and animals alike, so it is more than reasonable. There are free lockers for bags and drinks before you enter the center.

You're assured of seeing these lovely primates as this is a sanctuary and they have a dozen of them in a nursery where you view them through huge windows. There are also feeding platforms outside of the nurseries where you may get a bit more of a wild experience however the best way to see the orangs is if you happened to catch one coming down when you are on the paths leading from the nursury to the feeding platform, in this case it seems like a proper wild encounter. We were very lucky to experience this when one of the apes came down right in front of us. I was able to get some video with just the orangutan and the natural jungle, nothing artificial such as ropes or other people in the shot at all, it looks great.

Well organised with friendly staff. Orang utan seem in good health and obviously enjoy their meals. Not strictly rain forest, but fine for a quick visit
Tip! Hang back at feeding times. These animals are leisurely diners. At first there are hordes of noisy, camera toting tourists. After 10 mins or so, they get bored and melt away. This leaves time and space to enjoy the animals who munch away unconcerned for at least half an hour

We loved it here and visited twice on our stay in Sepilok. We were really lucky to see orang utan's on our first visit, one at the morning feeding and another in the afternoon feeding with her baby. It was amazing to see. On our second visit we were not so lucky, but that's ok as it is a good sign that orang utan's are successfully providing for themselves in the forest if they do not rely on the feeding at the sanctuary. We were also lucky in our 5 days to see 3 orang utan's in the wild. Two at kinabantan river and 1 at the RDC on the canopy walkway who seemed to want to play with us but we kept our distance. I would recommend that numbers are reduced for feeding times, there are signs up for silence which no body seemed to take any notice of, which was a shame.

A wonderful experience. Could have watched the orangutans all day. Expect to pay small fee for cameras. You aren't allowed to take bags in due to the monkeys. Locker storage is available at entrance.
