Not satisfied with the parking place. Even tour guides are a bit tired. Hopefully they decay.

Enter RM5 for local tourists. Open at 9 am. There will be many white people.

We can find a couple of oranges accompany us to the feeding site.

They feed the orang utan at 10 am and 3 pm.

I can meet an employee there who give me enough information. I forgot to ask her name.

But I remember wearing glasses. Can be from Dusun descent.

Many white people come here confirming my hypothesis that they come here because orangutans are the animals most similar to humans.

96.4% of forest DNA DNA is similar to human DNA. It may be that most white people come to verify Darwin's Theory that humans come from monkeys.

Surely the cost of taking care of this orang utan is around USD 700 and the cost of managing a newly discovered orang-utans is about USD 2000.

Good place to see the orangutans. During feeding time you can have a look at the adult ones or in the nursery you can see the little ones playing around the yard. And if you are lucky as I was you can even run into an orangutan along the various paths and see them more closely :)

Actually sepilok is a nice place, and the fee also not that expensive. Because there is a room with aircond to view the oran utan eating in a platform. If you have the lucky day, you can have the chance to see the oran utan on feeding time in a close distance.

Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre is located about 25 kilometres west of Sandakan in the state of Sabah, Malaysia. The centre opened in 1964 as the first official orangutan rehabilitation project for rescued orphaned baby orangutans from logging sites, plantations, illegal hunting or kept as pets.

Fantastic habitat for the orangutans. Very very snobbish orangutans. Be prepared to be disappointed to see them in thier eating area as they do not ho there anymore but you will definitely see them around. We only saw 4 or 6 of them in total.

Lovely setting, impressive jungle and obvious care and cheerfulness from staff. We saw loads of Orang utans, including a wild male after a free lunch and watching the youngsters at the nursery was so joyous. Whole family thought it was ace and could have stayed longer. Price was fine given it's about supporting the work they do (100rm for family of 5). Not allowing bags in was a good move too to thwart any ignorant tourists trying to contravene feeding rules. Kept hearing the baby rescue elephants they had staying there temporarily, wish they would expand to let us see them too, well worth another 100rm I'd say....

No orangutans at the feeding station, but plenty in the outdoor nursery. I only gave it 4 stars because the open at 9am and close at 11am. It's not cheap. You can save your ticket and come back from 2pm to 4pm too.

The most amazing experience we ve done during our 5 months in Asia. Make sure you get to the morning feed with some time to spare as it does get very busy. I found the morning feed quite uncomfortable as there are a lot of tourists and it feels very zoo like- just with loads of people trying to get selfies. However, the outside nurseries were great as you can watch from a distance without interrupting the orangutans. During our walk around the centre we bumped into about 3 orangutans which was incredible! You just stay out there way as you let them go pass. You ll see lots of monkeys too and the cafe has nice affordable food. Lovely to see how much the staff take care of the orangutans.

Good place to observe orangutans in semi wild. The feeding times are at 10 am and then at 3 pm. Unfortunately there was a big crowd there and people shall stay silent while visiting the place but they don't really manage to do so it must be very disturbing for the animals during their feeding time...

Kind of disappointed that we only managed to see 3 orangutans. Need to spend time if you really want to see more as there are a number of feeding areas that the other orangutans can go to instead of the main feeding platform that all visitors gather with abated breath. Best to go to a zoo if you prefer to see many orangutans.

This is well worth a visit. It is hot so wear cool clothing. Of course Orangutans that go to the platform are mostly wild so attendance is not predictable. It is worth making time for the morning and afternoon feeding times. We got some fantastic photos and there are no cages!

Great place to visit! The up close encounter with a orangutan made this visit very memorable! The nursery was amazing too. Not a whole lot of action on the feeding platform in the afternoon (one mama orangutan, a squirrel and a monkey). The sound of the surrounding rainforest was deafening at times! The Nature Discovery Center and bear center near by make it a very good days excursion.

Amazing. What a brilliant job you are doing against so many adversities. Well done to all concerned. I feel very privileged to have had the experience of witnessing such beautiful creatures at such close quarters in their natural environment.
Something I will never forget. Thank you for the opportunity.

Something really extraordinary, a small film at the beginning to trace the history of the park and the missions of protection then 3 points of view or the Horan hutan in care are fed by healers in their habitat ... the park to do also is that of the Sun Bear opposite but also that of the red-nosed monkeys .. your guide will help you for that.

A wonderful place to see orang utans. Very serene place making it a good habitat for them.

There are defined feeding times so better to check before going. There is a price difference for locals and foreigners.

Best to go during feeding times. The rehabilitation center is also close to other rehabilitation centers for other animals.

Great experiences in the orangutan rehabilitation center.

Unforgettable, "Orang Dame Judy" .

I hope that "you" are fine.

Wherever "she" is now.

It is astonishing that some visitors compare the rehabilitation station with a "zoo".

AMAZING! There is a nursery with young orangutans in and the staff are very helpful and care about the safety of the public and the orangutans. The orangutans are also very friendly and do come quite close to the public at times but the staff make sure no one gets hurt. I would recommend it to everyone who has the chance to go.

This was a great half day excursion. The younger oragutang are encouraged to play & exercise to build up enough muscles to be able to cope in the wild. We watched from behind glass, so didn't get too close or interfere with them. We were able to take loads of pictures without flash.
None of the adult oragutang came to the feeding platform. This is good ,as it means the centre is doing a good job of rehabilitating them. They only come to the feeding platform if they haven't found enough food by themselves.

An interesting place to visit. The outdoors nursery, especially at feeding time, is amazing, with all the teenage orang outangs hanging around and doing all sorts of monkey business. Very entertaining.
The adult feeding is hit and miss, especially in our case where we went during freet season; only one ape came, and very briefly.
The center's mission is very nice, so it's worth going even if you don't see a million orang outangs

With Sabah having oil plantations covering 50% of the land it's no wonder the Orangs have lost their habitat. Selling numerous items made from Palm oil at the centre seems self defeating or cynical money making depending on how sceptical you are.

It is the only place in Borneo where orangutans can be fed. Orangutans slowly appear at the time of feeding, and the people with the cameras release the shutter all at once.
In the Outdoor narsery, you can always see the orangutans playing through the glass.
It is gone now, but I think the Shangri-La's Razaria Protected Area was quietly observed in a more natural environment.

For those you want to see the men of the forest(that's the translation of the word Orangutan in Malay) Sepilok is a great place for that.
Arrive in the morning so you get the chance to see them in both feeding times, at 10.00am and 15:00p.m.
If you are traveling with kids better head to the nursery place where you get to see the little Orangutans playing there.
The walk around the park is through a beautiful rain forest. A must see if you are staying in Sandakan.

The Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center was fo...

The Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center was founded in 1964 to help orphaned orangutan babies rescued from the pet trade or saved from illegal hunting. The center's main goal is to help these orangutans learn how to survive in the wild (in fact, replacing what they would usually learn from their mothers), so they can be eventually released into the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve, which is covered in virgin forest and extends for 4,300 hectares around the rescue center. Over 80 orangutans currently live free in the reserve.

While visitors cannot interact with the animals or approach them, they can come to the center to learn more about orangutans and the challenges they face today, see the nursery and the climbing area through a glass window, and attend feeding times (seen from a platform) twice a day.

The boardwalk that cuts through the center offers plenty of opportunities to explore and see the orangutans playing and jumping around on the trees nearby.
