I have been a patient of OHSU for a long time they never do give up on me I have had epilepsy since childhood and the found a big lesion and had to remove it I have a lot less seizures today then I did as a child but still my doctor and the nurses won't give up they want to make me seizure free they are so nice and polite and respectful and considerate and they really do care. I love them so much and will always recommend OHSU if anybody had any health problems of any kind. I was at OHSU dornbechers as a child and now I'm with OHSU still today as a adult.

I have cancer and was sent to OHSU to have it taken care of. 4 years later my cancer is gone, but I haven't received any fun superpowers from my radiation therapy or stem cell transplant. They are so good at what they do that there have been zero xray/CT scan malfunctions resulting in super powers. And I'm on a maintenance drug that so far have yet to give me super powers. So 5 stars for ridding me of cancer, 0 stars for lack of "accidental" super powers.
Hospital must be pretty great...though I haven't been into that. But I went there through the 4T hike trail to get the tram from there down to the city. You'll get an exquisite view from the top and while coming down in the tram!
I've had horrible experiences OHSU since February of last year with not telling me my proper diagnosis even after going there three times. Went in for blocked off to me severe pain was given CT scan after a long wait. Was told I had a blockage and hernia song My ostomy site nobody told me that on the same report and sewed my gallbladder was bad with stones. I was given a staff surgical consult with OHSU Physicians it took months to get in with pain and suffering the entire time and having to go through patient advocate managers in my own primary to get that appointment or happened in June. After seeing the first surgeon I still was not told of my gallbladder problems and she even mentioned she didn't have the CT report but had reviews my other info and wanted me to go to another surgeon in that office so I had to set another appointment up and still didn't have the other diagnosis. Left in pain sickness and dehydration had to finally get in to see another doctor when my blood pressure and pulse was so high from pain he sent me by ambulance from OHSU Clinic evolve to the hospital on top and still they didn't tell me about my gallbladder a huge issue only works me up for heart never saw a doctor before discharge. Traumatize after experience. the third time a surgeon finally told me of the gallbladder with stones sent me again to ER where I found I had pancreatitis on top of everything which took going to Providence Hospital I received horrible care they're also but was admitted and left early due to couldn't even see a GI Doc and they almost killed me giving me lactulose which is a No-No for ostomy patients. After my surgeries ended up having complications in October when I had new ostomy and hernia removal no ostomy nurse was sent to my room even with almost a week Hospital stay. Which is normal protocol and you have to be fitted for a proper size bag I was sent home with the old bag on which was too tight causing me horrible problems not healing and also not any pain control I've suffered immensely sent to this day with box of Health and I've been told again to go to the ER probably my blood pressure has been as far as 258 over to 28th and I've called repeatedly only being told to go to the ER I'm scared to death do you know anywhere now where can you get adequate care in Portland? Yesterday I hired a patient advocate at the cost of $5,000 to try to help me before I die or end with a stroke or toll organ damage. I am on disability but have two insurances and still can't get adequate care what has happened to our Healthcare System am I the only one. Also what has happened to adequate pain control this is a severe problem it's not paying patients and surgical patients abusing obvious people on the streets are buying them illegally you can't even get a prescription filled for opiates anymore without huge complications and everything is tracked under your name there is no reason for a patient after surgery with complications to be left in bed in their own feces with no ostomies bags or pain medication. I am at a loss of what to do anymore and I'm going to die if I don't get help soon
Expect to wait, their time is more important then yours, regardless of checking in ahead of time. This is a learning institution, and majority of physicians we have met with will treat you as a student...ie talking down to you and not bothering to fully read charts before appointment. There is valuable knowledge and resources, just to be ready to navigate the air of smug.
Worst emergency room I've ever been too. The bathrooms are filthy there is urine and paper towels all over the floor. There is multiple homeless people in the lobby with garbage bags of stuff with visible bugs. There is multiple patients with Ivs hanging out of there arms in the waiting room that is filthy. It's also way to small for the amount of people going in and out. I really hope they give the ER there attention soon. The staff, nurses, and doctors have all been very pleasant though.
Was brought here by ambulance after suffering physical abuse from my boyfriend at the time.. great staff. Took very good care of me.. offered me police assistance during stay...
My mom had a hip replacement - she as well as my dad are hearing impaired. The Dr and Nurses were fantastic with her and my dad the communication was excellent and the nurses very compassionate. the only issue I had was not getting a I V specialist sooner for her instead of trying 6 times
My husband's surgery was postponed three times. He sent questions on his email access to OHSU and never received a response. His surgery is scheduled for June 9th and he has not heard from OHSU about pre-op requirements or time of surgery as of this very moment. Not very impressed with OHSU'S customer service or communication. I wonder how they have maintained their stellar reputation.
From the moment my wife and I walked in we felt an emotion of relief. The staff is attentive and educated. The facilities are not only stunning to look at but appear to be maintained very well. My wife has been dealing with a growth on her pancreas for almost 2 years now and has been pushed to the side so to speak at hospitals elsewhere. A big thank you to everyone at OHSU in Portland.
I've never had anything but a wonderful experience with OHSU. The medical campus is a bit complicated. Educate yourself in travel directions and allow more time than you think you need on your first visit.
The staff here are amazing and very understanding, the lady that dose the Food is such a blessing.. the doctors and nurses are truly blessed and most of all patient with my stubborn husband A BIG SHOUT OUT TO THIS BEAUTIFUL LADY, even tho her lead was being ugly to her.. she kept smile and making my husband the protein shake.. I can't thank her enough
Hospital "invited" my daughter and the entire family to go elsewhere because her case was "too complicated and expensive." Turns out the hospital is more concerned with its shareholders (it's a for-profit, publicly held company) than it is with its patients. I'd give it zero stars if I could but that's not an option.
I have had horrible experience after horrible experience. Employee Nikki always has a problem everytime it has been literally hell for me and my family. It's come to the point I should not have to consider finding new doctors when it was hard enough getting established especially after recently moving do to my husband's military orders. She is not.prefessional and makes it unbearable. We have also seen her act rudely towards other visitors as well. Not impressed truly hope this is not what type of behavior the except from there employees. Completely disgusted and honestly shouldn't be afraid or have this much stress when im very high risk with my pregnancy and don't need a trashy employee giving us a hard time or any more grief. Please staff handle your employees or just get rid of her. This is not my first complaint and im sure im not the only one.
Used to park wherever no problem, now they've hired parking attendants who barely speak English telling us we can't park in clearly open spaces. Just another way to make is pay for parking.
My name is Mike I came to OHSU for a angiogram. All went well courteous, professional, all the things I want from a hospital. The procedure was flawless great team. But the real star was nurse Peg. I was getting dressed and about to leave when my entrance point on my wrist started to swell with interal bleeding. My wife ran to get help. Nurse Peg flew over her desk and was on my wrist like a rattle snake. Applying heavy pressure to stop the bleeding. She then stayed with us for a hour until she felt it was safe for us to depart. Peg is a hero. Thank you Peg Angela and Mike
Oh my gosh, this hospital is amazing. My dear brother is passing away here, in 14 C, and the entire staff have been so thoughtful, kind and excellent in their care for him. I can never thank them all enough. Their compassion has moved me to tears. Thank you all so much.
I am so impressed with the care of the nurses of the ICU ( trauma unit). All the nurses that I have met who are taking care of my nephew are extremely caring and professional, not just for their patients but for all the family members that are around here. Can I give more stars?
I've been trying to get my husband in for a post op transplant visit for TWO months. No call back from them, my persistence has gotten me no where... Maybe they're good, but good luck getting an appt
We came.to the emergency room onna very busy friday night.
We almost left because the syspmtons were bareable and we had waited quite some time. We asked the nurses if we could at minimum get the lab results to benon our way. We were met immediately with recommendations to stay as the lab results indicated something was seriously wrong.
Within 15 minutes we got checked in, had a medical team, and got a quick treatment plan. Everyone was so nice and caring. I couldn't have asked for a better experience for such an awful moment.
WORST WAITING TIME EVER!!!!!! literally got there at 6pm!!!! & didn t even get a room at ALL even at 11pm at night!!!! So we ended up leaving!! & my husband was in pain the whole time there. We already hate Salem & Silverton hospital & we thought Portland had the best doctors!! NOPE. didn t even get a room after 5 HOURS!!! atleast Salem& Silverton hospital had us in a room 30-40 min.
Extremely considerate staff even though my situation seems unique. I was in a great deal of pain had amnesia and the entire staff was phenomenal. Thank you so much OHSU the nurses and the doctors and everyone that made my stay as comfortable as possible
Major surgery by Dr Henrikson, of the Cardiology Dept. Wow, it was amazing. The whole OHSU team was outstanding. A great experience from Admissions, to the Labs/X-rays. The Cardiology Dept. staff,. Surgical Team, Recovery Ward,. Just amazing. My thanks to them all.
Every time I visit Ohsu I get mixed reactions. Once I swore I would never see another doctor there because how I was treated as a patient - I had to do my own lab test because the staff was too busy. I want to give them a benefit of the doubt, maybe because it was one particular medical office. That is why I gave them 3 stars. But I will try hard not to be OHSU s patient if I don t have to.
Watched a Dr. Throw a bloody needle in the regular trash in the waiting room. What policy's on hazards materials is this following. Guess in Oregon it's ok??
Unfortunately I have never heard anything good about this place. My grandma has cancer and found out that OHSU had done a scan 3 years ago found the cancer and never told her. Now instead of stage one in the lungs. The cancer has spread to her brain and she found out too late. I will have to be unconscious to be taken to this hospital. I think the doctor should be charged with murder.
Truly amazing... Unfortunately my father had a major heart attack and was air lifted here to the critical care cardiovascular unit. Sadly he did not make it. However I have to say the medical staff here are truly amazing. They did absolutely everything they could and then some. They showed great compassion and sympathy, They explained everything that was happening, and was going to happen in simple terms. They waited patiently for all of our family to get there before disconnecting him from all the equipment .. they made sure he was not in pain. Even checked up on us and made sure we where okay . The staff even went as far as bringing us an awesome little snack platter and coffee. I thought that went way beyond. We where able to stay in the room with him until he passed. Thank you all . Your all where truly amazing and one of a kind. Thank you...
Came in with my husband for his surgery they can t & don t have bed side manners especially the nurse that her only job was to send my husband to pre-op & me to waiting area & putting his bracelet, she had an attitude I mean the whole point of working at a hospital is to help patients & their loved ones fee at ease
I have a mixed bag about the hospital... having to go back for an awful testing that Ive had at UCSF in San Francisco, neurology. Don't like being pressured to have another neuro surgery year's after the first one.. Bam... nurse practitioner prescribes a new drug and its the best neurological drug I've ever had!. But ok lets do another week long stay? Perhaps if we move forward a 2nd opinion might be wise, Mayo clinic in Arizona... before we go full steam ahead.
Knee surgery was good... never got a call.back when I called about getting my nails pins put of my leg. Very sensitive and painful. Ill call again while doing inhouse EEG. Good surgeon. Don't think day surgeries are wis, but that might be the normal thing.
Absolutely amazing doctors and nurses. They really have your best interest in mind. The doctors visited me every day I was there. Unfortunately I had heart failure and was in the cardiology department for two weeks. The doctors were able to find a cause and were able to treat me. I owe the staff who treated me my life.
This is a PSA: I had a customer that sent a flower arrangement to her friend that was on the 9th floor. The flowers were delivered to the nurses station , however The flowers never made it to the recipient , apparently she was discharged to a rehabilitation facility before the volunteer was able to get it to her. She was still in her room when the flowers arrived. Instead of the nurses notifying me (the florist) of the mishap (so that I could send my delivery driver back to pick up and YES my contact info is readily available,),they decided to keep the flowers for themselves at their station. I found out about this situation when my customer called me 6 days later when she found out what happened. My customer was IN tears that her gift was stolen by nursing staff. I went ahead and sent another arrangement (free of charge) to her friend now in rehabilitation . Beware when sending flowers to the hospital! It is up to volunteers and nurses to see that your gifts are properly delivered. 90% of the time strangers are not allowed in patient rooms. I think it s shameful of the nurses to keep the arrangement for themselves and then tell the sender that it s just too bad and there s nothing they can do about it.
Worst emergency room ever. Stay far far away. They treat people on their personal judgment of them. Im am ex heroin addict. I haven't used in over 4 years. I have a job a house a 7 year old daughter and a wife. As soon as they looked at my chart and saw an overdose from 7 years ago everything changed. Their attitude body language everything. I was treated like i wasn't even human and worst part is my 7 year old and wife were with me..worst experience of my life.
They Saved my life when I was life flighted, and had the only orthopedic specialist that would even do my surgery after trying 5 other surgeons over a 12 year span. Great staff very pleasant, and gave any and all information I asked for. If I need a good hospital with knowledgeable doctors/surgeons and staff this is the place I will always return to. I highly recommend OHSU
Have been there a handful of times for urology appointments and procedures (including overnight stay) with Dr. Amling and each time they are very friendly and helpful in every area. I would 100% recommend this hospital to anyone. And the food is good too
The services I recieved while a patient was unbelievable. Everybody had a smiley face no matter what time of day or night. I seriously would recommend OHSU to anyone with medical problems no matter what or where they may be.
I love this place not only did they save my life with a new Liver. But they cared for me & made sure to give me all the tests & surgeries I need when 2 other hospitals said I had nothing wrong with me. I continue to go for blood test & I m always treated with excellent service
Wonderful place. Great dedicated staff who love their job and take ever opportunity to go the extra mile with care. State of the art buildings that are well managed and great maintenance and managment over all. All systems and departments work flawlessly together and awesome Cooks in the several different kitchens and cares. I all ways appreciate the care and environment OHSU provides when a loved one or I fall ill. Thanks for all you do and keep it up!
I experienced stay at this hospital in 2016 and even today I believe it is one of the best hospitals in the country. The staff was kind and very professional. The doctors were great. The care I received was excellent. Thanks to all the staff for taking care of me.
Worst care ever. If you have a issue with there care they will not tell you they are owned by state and Senate is in control of your care. Not real hospital owners or doctors manage this place. So if you go here the state isn't liable to citizens nor liable to patients of Oshu. You have no rights here. Plus my buddy said there giving coronavirus to people there in the mask. Is not support these Nazis.
Brought friend up for surgery. Original scheduled time was 7am check-in. Got rescheduled to 1pm. Got up to the place & dropped friend off. At 6:15pm they FINALLY took her in. Lots of sorry from staff but could they not have called & asked her to come in later?? Very, very poor in communication. I wouldn t want to come up here if that is the way you are treated. It seems like a lack of respect. The staff are awesome & super nice though.
