A small beautiful campus. Most professors will know your name compare to other schools. I love everything about this school.
Cal poly is a very nice college very nice scenery nice area he could also get up by to eat from the surrounding areas and if you like to go running there are a few trails over there to go running or walking
Best university in the world! They prepared me for MIT and I m going to be a billionaire by 2030
I regret applying here. I would suggest to incoming students to take care of their physics classes anywhere else. The labs here are extremely poorly done. The school is great with lecture instructors, but the labs here are questionable. I transfer early, so I'm stuck here. But if you have a chance to attend somewhere else, you might consider anywhere else. Updating, ... this is a hell of a place to get nothing done. Wished I had Applied anywhere else right about now.
I graduated from CPP in 2012 from the Civil Engineering department. Great CE program, the reputation is well deserved. The professors care about their students and there are many different ways to get involved (clubs, job fairs, networking) should you choose to take advantage. The program is not easy, but having a CE degree from CPP does help with getting a job after graduation.
Never anything to do at this school or anything to do around pomona in general. Many staff members and professors are not willing to help you and classes are hard to get into. I regret ever going here.
I had a good time at Cal Poly Pomona, the knowledge I have gained would help me to succeed in life! I'm grateful for the experiences, but sadly, I will be graduating in 2018!
It is a great learning place even for promise scholars , I even saw dorms and a pond at first I was very worried if the goose and duck would go on the road way but they stayed by there Pond.Though getting through traffic there is a little hard and busy you would manage.
Everybody comes here because they got rejected from their dream school. But you do what you need to do.
The people that I went to the campus tour on November 6. 2015 at 9:00 A.M. were nice and the staff are helpful, but the campus can have an awful smell of horse poop but the campus is beautiful. The arcade and bowling alleys are fun to observe. The garden and the pawn is so interesting to watch.
Reasonable Price but highly impacted. Parking is a godless wasteland. You are lucky to get a spot on the wait list for ME classes.
Holds Smash tournaments quite often and they are always lots of fun
There is a a lot to like at Cal Poly Pomona:
Brand new gym/rec center (BRIC) opening Fall 2014. This facility is the newest and largest sports gym at 120,000 sf.
Tuition is $6350 for 3 quarters a year vs. $13,500 for 3 quarters at a UC.
If you like to hike, swim, and boat, there is a giant county park 3 times the size of campus just north at the San Gabriel foothills, Frank Bonelli Regional Park/
If you are thinking about internships, think about this: If Los Angeles County were a nation, its economy would be the 19th largest in the world at $766B. It is home to more than 245,000 businesses.
A lot to do on the weekends from the mountains to the desert to the beaches.
There is a working hotel and restaurant on campus that is used to train the hotel and restaurant management majors.
Oh yeah, the campus is gorgeous with the rose garden, Japanese garden and wide paths and big quads lined by majestic palm trees - blows away the industrial park/trailer park layout out of Cal Poly SLO.
Gorgeous campus!

Cal poly Pomona is a great school! The professors are amazing!!!! Great dorms to I stayed there from 2016-2020. OnE MoRe YeAr!
Great university to attend. I just graduated with Civil Engineering and can say that some of the professors here are amazing professionals with drive and enthusiasm.
Beautiful campus to visit. I especially recommend seeing the horses, the rose garden, the Japanese garden, and the farm store.
This school is horrible. The worst time of my life was spent here. The professors are really unfriendly and could care less whether or not the students get something out of their course, or this school. Let alone go on to find a nice job and be successful. They only want to make the students feel bad for trying to be creative, and then spend most of the time lecturing them on the ethical issues with their major. (This is especially a problem for computer science students). They will not prepare you for finding a job. Please do not go here. Anything else is better.
They filmed that Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman film here once. Probably the second best thing about Pomona. I did a presentation here for the State Board of Equalization on behalf of the Small Business Development Center... Why does the gov and edu love acronyms so much?
Cal Poly Pomona is raising its standards every year; building new facilities.
Im currently a student and lets say adding classes is a abysmal joke. They have the worst times for classes and when a class is available it's the worst teacher possible. Heck, I even looked for a GSC ge since I couldnt't get classes towards my major and the joke here is that only1 class was available. So essentially one teacher is responsible for one section for the entire school
I do regret not choosing community college and transferring. This school is essentially paying for secondhand treatment and offers nothing special except to engineers and hospitality majors.
DO NOT come here for undergrad. I would recommend MT. SAC and transferring to UC which is guaranteed to have superior programs and treatment.
(less than 50 percent of all undergrads coming here graduate within 4 years) gee I wonder why.
Great underrated school, approachable professors during office hours, small class sizes for individual attention, and lots of applicable small projects. Learned to be a team player in class, and made great friendships with classmates. School has diverse demographics, locally based. I hope to see more permanent resident students rather than commuters. Would like to see more interdisciplinary studies, entrepreneurial endeavors, and expansion of facility campus planning. I was an Undergrad at cal poly Pomona, and now pursuing further studies at Northwestern University.
Very good university. Good clean campus. Nice people
I really liked the campus, but as a transfer student from another state some issues came up. Especially because they wouldn't tell me what credits transferred even after I was accepted into the architecture program until I chose to enroll there. I ultimately decided to not go there.
Brother went here and liked it, I have visited and enjoyed it almost went here as well when I was younger
Attended CPP from 1997 to 2002. Graduated with a BS in Business. If you are looking to have a career in upper management for fortune 100 companies or a leader in your industry, that's the type of people CPP develops.
I know students enjoy drinking and smoking in classrooms after hours. Shows what type of discipline they apply on their students and what they allow. Not much surveillance and security if students can get in classrooms at 1am to play beer pong.
Great place to start your career as the school offers a modalities of multiple interests. Fms rocks !
This is a great school, don't let the negative reviews deter you from attending. I highly recommend that you do your research on your future CAREER rather than your Major. Most students make the mistake of picking out a major with no idea how much work it entails nor any idea of the career paths that emerge from that major. Plan effectively, think of the career you want and plan your academics to get you to that goal.
Additionally, yes classes may be hard to get sometimes, but if you plan out your course schedule every quarter and have a back up in the case that you can't get a specific course it won't even be a critical issue for you.
One last note, please do not come into an office and yell at the staff. I currently work here and people do that constantly. Do you expect someone to help you right away if you just chewed them out for 15 minutes? Please be polite, and understanding that some of your issues may involve some complexities take some time to work through for a resolution that would please you.
world class college of environmental design: depts of urban planning/architecture/landscape architecture | iconic library | strong in STEM fields
This is my second year here at Cal Poly and it s been an average college. Good things are that it s a big campus, lots of vegetation, but that s about it. A lot of students have many problems with this school such as getting classes, getting help from any sort of administration(admissions, financial aid, etc.), and most of all PARKING. This year the school has accepted over 7000 freshman which has congested the traffic by almost 300%. There has been no solution to parking and a lot of students can never find parking despite paying $231 for the parking pass. Reviews can also depend by major so this one isn t of that degree. The school can build a new student services building, and new dorms, but can t fix the parking issues. Don t see myself finishing school here at all.
I got my BS degree in CS at Cal Poly Pomona 8 years ago. I finished the program earlier but I got stuck with the essay test for a year. English is my 3rd language, and writing is my weakness. Anyway the school is OK, nothing special, other than cheap tuition. At that time I was working full-time at night, and overloaded with 16 credit quarters. What a disaster with many failed classes. I can blame the department for hiring foreign professors that having heavily accents, that make my subjects understanding harder than necessary. I slept and snored in many classes.
The school is like any other college. Some good professors here and there but MOSTLY BAD ones ruining the experience for everyone. The BIGGEST problem for this school is their system. They charge your account for random things and those charges aren't even labeled. You have no idea what you are paying for and yet if you don't pay you cannot get your classes. They even forced me to buy a parking permit to get me to register for my classes. And for people applying to the school you need to send your transcripts through mail. Then that takes half a year to sort through. How out dated is that! I cannot stress how horrid their system is. In addition, If you have a question the administration just sends you on a goose chase running from office to office in order to get an answer. BAD BAD BAD.
Great school. Learn by doing educational philosophy. Graduates transition into the workforce with critical skills that make them assets within any profession or business from day one. It is easily one of the best values you can get for a higher education. Not to mention the campus is amazing. Cal Poly Pomona is the largest land holding public university in California. Another aspect that sets it apart from other schools is that a substantial number of the professors who teach at Cal Poly Pomona also teach at USC, and UCLA. The difference being the level of individual attention professors at Cal Poly Pomona provide is typically greater. This is due in part to the relatively smaller class sizes creating an optimal teacher to student ratio.
I love this University, as an undocumented student I've had great experiences at this University. Computer lab opened 7 days a week
They have an awesome soccer field. Their computer engineering program and agriculture program are great!
It's a Great School I was impressed while visiting my Daughter she showed all around the school and she's challenged to be better and do more. So that's a Plus
Eerily quiet because of lockdown. Still nice looking campus
Nice campus and staff. The architecture and environmental buildings look awesome. Love the Polly trolley for food. Good career services team.
Cal Poly is what you make of it. I think that it is a hidden diamond in SoCal; considering the amount of prestigious schools in the area. The best thing is that obtaining a degree here is relatively cheap. The networks available at Cal Poly aren't too shabby either if you get involved with the right organizations. The school is currently expanding as well (newer buildings and etc.). The faculty and staff are very helpful/knowledgeable as well... I was fortunate to have faculty personally help me out with the job search. The problem associated with this campus, however, is difficulty in registering for classes. I believe the combination of a tight state budget and small class sizes is to blame. Another problem is PARKING. Cal Poly is acres of land... utilize it, plain and simple.
I'm recommending this school to anyone because I believe that it is becoming a top-tier institution.
I gave it a 3 star for providing a great education and teaching me independent living skills. But I made a huge mistake of staying at this school so long. I had some classmates and co workers who were some of the rudest and foulest people I ever met. It seemed like a place which had highly intelligent people. But if you made a mistake, they would speak to you as if you were stupid. So, I met a lot of condescending "No it All's." So what a shame. At least I can is I got a very good education.
As much as I think Cal Poly is a great school, the system of Cal Poly Pomona is disorganized beyond repair. Unless you desire to study Engineering, I would recommend to look elsewhere. The school emphasizes STEM and hands on learning principles, but there is not much resource for non-Engineering major students. Also, departments do not talk to each other resulting massive confusion for students. Chemistry department, Physics department and Computer Science department are the worst in College of Science as they do not provide a clear answer. Financial Aid office does nothing but create confusion leading students to pay out of their pockets.
Transfer students are left confused and they have to figure out their own. Also, information on the official website is incorrect and they do nothing to correct. Basically, they are falsifying information to attract students. The school has massive potential but due to disorganized and incompetent management, the school is disorganized.
Due to limited spots of the classes, transfer students are assigned later date of registration and not able to register the class. The school often tells students to go back to their community colleges and take the classes.
Another evidence that this school do not care about students is how they treat exceptional students. Students who are in scholars' programs used to be given priority registrations. Then, the school decided to take that away. What they do not realize is that these exceptional students would make the brand of the school more valuable when they enter workforce. How shortsighted.
The only good things about this school are professors and students. Most of professors are available during office hours, which yield private school like opportunities to build rapport with professors. Also, most of students are dedicated and hard working.
I wish I could give 5 star ratings because I do really like the school, but the system of the school hinders students to excel doing nobody's favor.
Cal Poly really needs to do something about their CS program, it is getting a little too popular and there are not enough seats available to keep up with the ever increasing number of CS undergrads.
Other than that, this school is my pride and joy. I enjoy every minute of it. Friendly staff, students, many helpful, unique professors, and overall a highly intelligent enviroment.
Unhelpful admission staff
I ve been trying to see someone in the admissions and no answer. Im having a problem with switching from international to resident student in the school and i keep getting denied for no reason, knowing that I submitted all required documents.
I transferred here from community college and would rather go here than a UC. Excellent education, challenging in STEM, and the campus is beautiful.
OMG SUCH BAD SCHOOL
I lied....
The Kellogg West Conference Center at Cal Poly is accommodating to multi training events with great capacity. The dining hall is spacious and great for any size event.
great campus, all the students and teachers are friendly. I am not a student however I attended SSS multiple times and am pleased Everytime.
The campus is full of nice people, but getting classes is hard. There isn't a lot of fun places nearby and it is a commuter school so it becomes a ghost town during the weekends.
Beautiful campus, wedding ceremony by the koi pond.
Recently got accepted here! Beautiful campus and awesome programs
Things I liked about Cal Poly Pomona were the people, the professors, and the beautiful campus. It's a good school for a lot of reasons, but also had some shortcomings. Plan on getting to class at least 1 hour early or you will never find a parking spot. There is no affordable housing nearby, the neighborhoods are dangerous, students sometimes get assaulted and robbed on campus. There are few bike lanes and people drive crazy. Parking passes are really expensive. There's nowhere to buy good food near campus. It can be quite difficult to get the classes you need to graduate on time. This school put me through some very difficult times, but now I have a respected degree and a job so it was worth it.
Their credential programs are great, I learned so much. Also they are nice and not racist like CSUF.
The Collins College HRT program is the best. Everyone supports each other and each other's career goals by creating opportunities for one another so they can advance in their field. Would recommend this major to anybody!
what a beautiful idea and event but so disappointing because its only for 1 weekend and so many activities to do with so little time! It's ridiculously crowded and just no time or space to do everything there if not at all. This was my first year going and my last. Until they decide to make this more than a 2 day event.
Too many requirement and survey. Spamming email is what they r good at
Excellent Computer Information Systems program here. Leading edge for its time, including security courses well ahead of other schools.
I love this school because it has a variety of classes. You could be taking a physics class one quarter and then be in a class for archery.
Love the fresh produce and the green environment. Learn by doing is the greatest motto here.
