It's okay if you don't attend college here, this place shares two magnificent lakes along with beautiful woodland trails. If you're into disc golf, there are a lot of courses found around campus. It's a great place to collect some steps. Enjoy and explore the campus atmosphere the University of Texas at Tyler provides.

This school is alright. Most of the professors I have run into here want you to succeed and do a very fine job teaching. Which, I am a biology major so I cannot speak for all departments. My biggest complaint is the One Stop Services Center. Nobody can seem to keep their story straight and if you call in for help be prepared to wait at minimum thirty minutes before you actually get "helped". I use "helped" loosely because as stated earlier none of the employees behind the desk seem to be on the same page when it comes to offering help. I've received three very different answers from three different employees regarding the SAME issue. Also, parking is absolutely dreadful! If you don't have an 8am class good luck finding parking! I have spent thirty minutes circling the lots waiting to spot an opening and I have missed classes before due to there being inadequate parking.

this college is another Everest college that maybe closed down in the future. They lied to other students as well as myself about processing our financial aid. The financial aid departments lies to you about when they are going to process your loans and have you signing up for emergency loans while they create more lies. Workers share unauthorized information about students accounts such as their financial information. After I got tired of being lied to about my financial aid, I decided to withdraw. The loan companies received my enrollment data right after withdrawing from the university. There are other students information who shared experiences with me about their financial aid nightmare. They submit wrong enrollment dates to loan companies and ignore students plea to be withdrawn from the university. More than $30,000 worth of school loans were held, but instead used their own personal funds instead. I actually thought this was my money until I checked with Fafsa. When you accept the grants in the student loan portal, it is not your money. They lied to me about tuition No money came from financial aid, or the loan companies period. They repeatedly made up more lies saying that my address needs to be updated and more lies that comes by the day. When I was constantly checking my financial aid, the loans were still pending. When asked, I was told that my financial aid was processed and should be updated by Thursday. I checked back Thursday and was told my financial hasn't processed yet. These excuses went on from January until last week. The worst part of this is I completed my financial aid in October. A worker named Taber stated that they didn't receive it. I even completed the MPN and they claim they didn't receive it. I even completed the exit counseling numerous of times . Neither was ever processed. I finally had enough because I was failing my classes without my books and decided to withdraw. A worker named Shelby has a complete attitude and kept this excuse ball rolling. I contacted this university again today 2/23/2018. Shelby, once again took my chat call. I asked Shelby when do the university report your enrollment status of withdrawal. Shelby proceeds to ask me " report this to who" I told Shelby that the university reported to the loan company that I was enrolled a few days ago and I am not. Even after several attempts made to update my enrollment status because I am withdrawn. Shelby proceeds to say" again, who was this reported to". They also lied to me about the tuition costs saying that tuition is low and that they have a limit to how much they can fund me. I was only awarded $8,000 something dollars, but only owed $2,000 something dollars. I have exhausted all my efforts with this college. I even received an email from Elizabeth Lucas stating " After reviewing your financial aid information, I noticed that your loans have not disbursed. The reason they have not disbursed is because you do not have an active address on file. Please update your home address on your MyUTTyler account. Once it has been updated please let me know and I can disburse your aid." This is all I kept receiving from different individuals. I was going back and forth about withdrawing, but I am glad I followed through with this or I wouldn't have found out all of this. After speaking with Shelby 2/23/2018, I contacted the registrar office. I was caller number one and it took them forever to answer the phone!!! once on the phone I stated my student ID number and question. I asked the lady how long would it be for the university to update my enrollment status and she decides to copy Shelby answer "it usually takes about 30 days for the system to catch up". She didn't even bother to look at my account or try to help! I updated my address several times and still nothing! ITS BEEN ALL LIES AND A MERRY GO ROUND! IT DIDN'T TAKE YOU THIRTY DAYS TO REPORT TWO FALSE DATES FOR ENROLLMENT TO THE LOAN COMPANIES! THANK GOD FOR DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND FED LOANS BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE TO LIST THIS CROOKED COLLEGE AS ENROLLMENT!

They have the worst communication. They do not answer via the enroll email, nor do they have enough representatives for the telephone. I usually have to wait around 45 minutes to 2 hours before I get to speak to a representative for Tyler.

The best place to learn, grow, get a degree and flourish. There are events happening all around the calendar which makes it even more interesting (especially for the international students!) Love the vast space available for students to sit and study. The two lakes on campus are the best places to hangout and relax when on campus.

Cons:

Cons:
this school loves to throw away money for stuff nobody asks for (concerts every Friday, a park that removed half the parking at this university, an ugly alumni house at the front of the university, etc). Meanwhile, their internet is God-awful, the library doesn't have books for specific classrooms ready to check out like other universities, they have no calculators ready to check out or laptops. Every computer in the entire school is extremely slow and sticky. The food provided at the MET is bad most of the time plus they close everything too early. The gym has an unnecessary amount of cardio machines that take up 1/3 of the gym. The people that run the intramural sports are very poorly-trained individuals that aren't consistent with the rules and will sometimes make stuff up. One time, I overheard the ladies that work with financial aid, cashiers, general questions, etc. giggling at the fact that they had somebody on hold for 50 minutes already and they were all snickering at each other to keep them on hold to see how long they go for. The mascot is kinda lame but that's just my personal opinion. At this point, I've realized I'm just ranting cause of the new construction there is going on and I couldn't find parking nearby cause of it and the wifi is acting up again. But really, this school does offer good stuff such as:

Pros:
The professors are amazing
The students are amazing
The school is growing
The new parking garage is convenient.
The environment feels safe.
Believes in free speech.
Many many other things can be listed.

Overall, this school is alright. You'll get your education, which is what mostly matters in the end. It's just little things that are troublesome.

This is probably one of the worst University of Texas schools you can attend if you are planning on being enrolled in the Department of Computer Science. The professors(with a few exceptions) don't know what is relevant to teach and onto of that don't know the subject matter for themselves. This is coming from an employed Software Engineer. Stay Away from the Computer Science Department, whoever runs it does not care what so ever and constructive complaints are just thrown away.

It does have a beautiful campus and amazing math department though. I'll give them that.

UT Tyler is a small school with low teacher to student ratio. Everyone from staff to professor has been extremely helpful. UT Tyler is a good school for students looking for a diverse college experience in a quiet and comfortable setting. The University is located in a small town and is a great location to complete your degree while focusing on school.

I was planning on going to this school to get a masters degree and probably a doctorate in mathematics, but after speaking to advisor Dr. Davis from the department of mathematics I changed my mind. I asked for a simple transfer plan catalog and he said there was no such thing. Then I asked him if he could review my transcript to make sure all the credits were transferable and he replied sure! considering the fact that you have an AS degree from a college from Texas we should be able to transfer all the credits, but I will review it and email you which classes you should take when you start your first semester here . Four days later he didn t send me anything, and he had the right email address. Then I spoke to him again and he said he did receive my transcript. And I haven t received anything yet, and I found the transfer plan catalog! a couple of my classes are not transferable. This school is just like a dealership they just want your money and don t care about your credits! And yes, one team member can mess up the entire team
