My pekingese had a ruptured disk due to ivdd he is 10yrs old they took very good care of him recovering was a bit of a challenge but well worth it, he is like a new man and can enjoy some more years of his life highly recommended

Ocean State Veterinary Specialists is our go to for Ron's emergency needs. Every time we need to bring him in on a whim, the front desk staff gets him immediate attention. This time Ron was fortunate enough to be home within 3 days after digesting or I should say, not digesting a Broccoli rubber band. The doctors and veterinary staff were always professional and kept us in the loop the entire process. I thoroughly enjoy there open communication and transparency in taking care of our little guy the best and most efficient way possible. I thank them all very much for helping make Ronald's transition from surgery to home life quick and easy while helping him make a speedy recovery. I hands down without a doubt highly recommend them and trust them very much! Can't thank you all enough for taking good care of Ron!
Thank you to all the staff for saving our family s golden retriever. Not only did the team work quickly to get him in for emergency surgery, but they were extremely professional and honest. My parents were understandably nervous to leave him over night, especially with a high risk surgery. They were instantly put at ease when they heard employees interacting with pets in the back. They were relieved to witness the level of kindness and care the other animals were receiving. What happens when someone doesn t know you are looking or listening says everything about the culture of a practice and the team they employ. Thank you for saving Bear!
Yesterday was a difficult time for my family and I when we decided to put our senior dog to sleep. Dr. Clarke and her staff (Desire & Kaitlin) made us as comfortable as possible, they gave our dog exceptional care and were very professional. We thank them for their trustworthy service and for the support at such a difficult time.
Awful experience. Our dog had been vomiting excessively and losing weight and we took him to our regular vet. Vet did blood work which showed elevated bilirubin and advised us to go to Ocean State ASAP, so we went directly there. Our vet sent the blood test results. We waited hours at ocean state only to be told by the vet our dog needed to stay the night and they couldn t do an ultrasound until the next day. I said no he would be terrified without us, he was very sick and our vet sent us there to be seen that day. After another hour or two of waiting, they got him an ultrasound. Then we were told he needed blood work (he d already had some that day and they had the results), urine test, and sedation for ultrasound. Our dog didn t need sedation, he was lethargic. But we agreed to the medication just in case. We waited hours to be told that his ultrasound showed he had GAS. Gas! The vet gave us meds to stop the vomiting and suggested an X-ray. I asked what an X-ray would show that an ultrasound wouldn t. She said she couldn t be sure but it could be bloat but our dogs stomach wasn t distended or appearing as typical bloat. Another woman came in and had us sign a form that we were declining to get an X-ray. This cost us around $600 and a full day out of work at the vet. That is not including the original vet bill who referred us to ocean state. ($300) Our poor dog vomited all night long, and we took him to Big River vet in the morning. They did ONE X-ray and told us our dog had bloat, his stomach was twisted and he needed immediate surgery but that he probably would not survive it due to how sick he was! We lost our sweet dog that day.
Ocean state totally missed the mark! If they did an x ray instead of other tests just to make $ they would have caught this sooner and possibly spared our dogs life. They seemed to only care about $ - doing bloodwork when it was already done, asking us to keep him in the hospital over night because they were too busy to ultrasound that day, etc. We waited another HOUR just to check out because there were charges on our bill that our dog didn t receive and the receptionist needed to confirm with the vet before removing them...
I m so disappointed in the care and the service. I called and left a message for the owner Gary and received a call back from an office manager who said we were at fault for leaving when they recommended an X-ray because we signed the form. All this business cares about is making $. I will never bring a pet there again. Never did get a call back from the owner... it s been almost 2 mos. So disappointed.
Brought my rabbit here on Emergency after receiving bad advice from another Emergency clinic. There s a slight chance I accidentally hit the horn and was super flustered coming in, and haven t dealt with Covid-vet care (I ve been spoiled with farm calls in Alaska and have terrible anxiety!) so this was a new experience but everyone was incredibly patient with me.
Dr. Rawlings was so kind and took the time to address all my concerns, it was obvious they were slammed and my rabbit was stable, but I never felt like we weren t a priority or my concerns were invalid. I ve worked in an emergency clinic, and one that saw exotics so I know how hard it can be, and I m so grateful for the level of care we received here. Thank you so much!
We took our dog in at 9:30 PM because he couldn't lay down, due to pain. We were there until 3:30 the next morning. One thing that happened, we were told that we were going to get the medication and discharge papers in 15 minutes. An hour went by, and we still hadn't received anything. We went to the front desk and asked for the medication and papers. A staff nurse went into the back for about 5 seconds and came back with them. It makes me think, how long were they going to have us wait for them, when they seemed to be ready? He eventually got what he needed, and we left. We understand that you have emergencies that you have to attend to, but can you please hire more doctors and workers for the night shift? It seemed that there was only one doctor available for the whole place. And can you please update/check in with us while we're in the rooms waiting for prolonged periods of time?
I brought my dog there on a Sunday when my vet was closed because she had a golf ball sized lump on her belly and was in a lot of pain. The staff there was extremely polite, attentive, thorough, helpful and caring with my little baby. I cannot say enough positive things about the exceptional service she received. It turned out to be the best case scenario in comparison of what the lump could have been (just a stomach infection that is being treated with antibiotics) but I am so grateful for the care she received from them. I even received a call from my vet first thing the next morning because they had already been informed of what happened. Thank you again!
Absolutely amazing staff, especially the neurologist, Lauren Marini. Extremely knowledgeable and communicative, especially during the covid19 pandemic.
The vet tech (unfortunately didn t catch a name) was also very helpful. She trimmed knots out of our long haired kitty s fur, which he gave us trouble cutting ourselves (without additional charges on our bill).
Our one year old cat, Tate, has a disease affecting his nervous system, which our regular vet was not qualified to treat. Dr. Marini kept contact with us via email, while educating us concerning our boy s possible diagnosis and treatment possibilities. Not to mention, she also did her best to keep costs at a minimum, while still making sure our baby received the best care.
Exceptional service and top of the line staff. Words can t express the gratitude we have for the help we have received from Ocean State. You can truly see the staff genuinely cares for the animals they treat. Would highly recommend.
I called ahead to let them know we were coming in. My dog was in extreme pain, couldn't bend his leg, and had an oozing hot spot. After two hours in a freezing room with no one checking in on us, let alone a vet coming in, we left. I've never had such a lack of help at an emergency vet before. Don't go here.
I have, unfortunately for my wallet, been here a few times with my crazy mutt. Most recently, my guy (Ozzie) was attacked on a walk after hours and needed sutures. Ozzie was as happy as ever when he was ready to go home the next day (though very sleepy).
They obviously took very good care of him when he was there - they even took me back to see him before I left for the night. I am moving out-of-state in a week and only hope that I can find a 24 hr vet in the area as good as OSVS , incase if I need one again.
This is a great place when an emergency strikes for your pet..Where else can you go that's open 24 hours when you are worried about your loving pet...yes it can be costly but we'll worth it for your piece of mind about your pet...I was sooo glad to have found it...I took my cat Louie that was having problems and could have ended up being much worse but luckily my Lou is doing much better. Thanks to all that treated my Louie..much appreciated !!!
They saved my puppy's life, we adopted our puppy Arya in February and she started to becoming very sick, very quickly in about a weeks time. We brought her here and she tested positive for Parvovirus. They immediately went in to treating her, we told them the amount of money we could spend and they did everything they could to stay in that budget. We have had her back home for a little over two months now and she's just such a happy, strong, loyal puppy and we're so fortunate to have gone here when we did. I can't thank them enough.
Our dog had a pretty serious laceration and we brought him here for urgent treatment. We had a great experience with the care and attention he was given, the hospitality we received during a stressful time, as well as pleasant phone conversations about care after the visit. I would highly recommend this facility! Pricing wasn t outrageous either!
My wife called ahead on a Sunday evening that we we're bringing our 11year old Sheepdog who could not walk & was having difficulty breathing. The staff was ready when we arrived with a gurney to get him from the car. All the staff we interacted with were very nice & compassionate. I would recommend this animal hospital.
My cat was treated there earlier this week with an abscess on his right side. He was given 15 ml Clavamox 1cc 12 hrs until finished. The improvement has been great called yesterday to get a refill on the prescription and they filled it and I picked it up at their place. The cost was $46.00. They had already mixed it up. So had 10 days to use it. Well I got up a few minutes ago and gave beau beau his warm compress. I was concerned about the price they had charged me and wondering if it was available for around the same price online. Well it certainly is and it was roughly half the cost of their 46.00 figure I had to pay. This is of course highway robbery at best. Sad to see they feel they have to take me to the cleaners even after the 240.00 original vet bill. I will be hard pressed to go back there again trusting them to to be fair and honest in their treatment of my pets. I feel betrayed and taken advantage of and will make it a point to let our regular vet know about their ethics and price gouging practices. Well after having posted this review I took the liberty of looking at the reviews others have left. Sad to say perhaps I should have read the reviews before we ever took any of our cats there. The first experience was fine. But now having had this most recent experience makes me question everything now. I can appreciate the owners attempts at damage control but the replies seem scripted at best. Not even sure if I should have accepted the prescription already opened and mixed. The cat pictured was Joe Joe he was 31 lbs and could hold a soft ball in his mouth and could clear a four foot chain link fence with stopping at the top
Don t bring your rabbits here. My rabbit was pregnant and couldn t give birth for over 8 hours. We brought her here to see if anything could be done for her. We ended up waiting for 4 hours before our rabbit was even looked at, since she looked like she wasn t in any discomfort they told us to bring her home and wait 24 hours and bring her back if nothings changed. We went to another vet for a second opinion that same day and My rabbit in fact NEEDED an emergency surgery that ended up costing her life and the lives of her litter. Shame on you.
My cat was diagnosed with cancer. Needed an appointment for a consult. Main operator transfers you to a voice mail. Have left multiple messages and no return call. Would not recommend them.
I have a 2 year old mini poodle. Last week he lost feeling his back legs and my husband and I were in a panic. As soon as we arrived he was seen right away. All of the doctors and nurses were great. after his Disc removal surgery they called me multiple times a day to let me know what was happening. We were also able to see him daily and when we left the nurses would stay with him to make sure he was comfortable. It is pricey but worth every dime.
Dr. Alexander the oncologist was very comforting when we had our beloved Lucy euthanized today they did a follow,up call to see how everything was and explain any concerns I had they let me stay as long as I needed even the staff was caring they were very sympathetic thank you Ocean State vet for making my Lucy's last day peaceful. They allowed me some private time with her. Although I am heartbroken and this is a very difficult time right now I felt comfortable knowing my dog is in good hands and at peace.
This place saved my dog's life! We were about ready to leave our relative's house after a weekend visit. Bella has a condition called "collapsing trachea" so when she gets too hot or excited she starts coughing. But as minutes went by condition grew serious and she started having trouble breathing. We drove like crazy to get to this place that is open 24/7 and since it was a Sunday, every local vet was closed. When we finally got there I flew out of the car and ran in with Bella in my arms. Although the place was busy the receptionist noticed me immediately as I ran through the door. She saw my panic and said "what is it???" I yelled "collapsing trachea!" She immediately ran and got the techs who grabbed Bella out of my arms and whisked her away. I have never seen people move so fast in my life, even at regular E.R.'s for people. I mean it was literally only seconds between me getting out of the car and Bella being treated. After some minutes past, we were told that Bella was ok, she received a life-saving emergency procedure (I think they had to intubate her) and she was resting comfortably getting oxygen. They said we were very lucky, when she came in her tongue was already turning blue and we got there just in time. We were told that she needed to remain there for several hours under observation to make sure she was breathing on her own and that her oxygen levels were rising. Our family went to Narragansett and we watched the boats, my children were very upset about Bella but I assured them that she was in good hands. We called when we were supposed to after a few hours, and she was ok. We went back and were able to pick her up, thankfully she did not need to stay overnight. They gave her medication so she was a little drowsy but very much alive. The people at this place are absolute angels. They kept us informed, spoke to us with dignity and care, and were able to help so many animals in the short time we were there waiting. I feel very blessed that we still have Bella, and can't thank the staff enough for the immediate and professional care.
Horrible. Took my cat in at 11:30 am and at 5:10 pm she was in bavk and I finally was given results of Xrsy and blood. Xray showed mild stool. Blood work showed nothing. The sd she was deydrated, yet, kept her 5 hours and DIDN'T give her any fluids. Nothing to eat iether. So then they say I could afmit her for just under $3000 in fees. I was treated RUDELY when I adked the so called vet if it would take another say 2 hours and she gave me a ROTTEN look and sd " I have NO IDEA, depends on when a TECH is available. The so called Vet told me at 1:55 she was deydrated BUT LET HER GO FOR ANOTHER 2.5 HOURS without any fluids. Look, this is BS and at minimum, GET SOME COMPASSION and GET SOME GELP AND LEARN HOW TO MANAGE YOUR PATIENTS WHILE THEY SIT IN THE BACK FOR HOURS. I am sure I have spent thosands enough in this place to FINALLY just say, this place needs outside consulting to GET a grip on true CARE.
One star is actually a complement. Last week I have to bring my do there that I had for 12 years. She's was I serious trouble and dieing. The staff did take there time to fully explain the procedure that could save her life. We were so relived. Then they explained we had to pay 3000.00 up front or go home and hope for the best. She passed in my arms that night and I ,ad sure when they called the next day to check on her to tell them. They are money hungry who take advantage of pet owners at the worst time. The vet even told me at a normal vet it would only be 500 but because they are emergency it's 3000.00! They are crooks! Check out Mercey Animal Hospital we brought our baby there she was cremated at half the cost of other vets and came home in an urn with a sympathy card memory coin pack of flowers told plant a garden in her memory and loving family certficate. Like I said check out Mercy animal hospital they do what they do for the love of animals not to rape your wallets when you are hurting the most
My cat had gotten into who knows what. Since he as a tough guy, he never showed he was hurt. By the time he did show it, he was in critical condition. An assistant came up to me and took my cat right away. They started working on him before I was even done with the paperwork.
The doctor (Mark or Mike - Sorry, I was in shock!) was EXTREMELY support, compassionate, understanding and absolutely heck-bent on trying to figure out what was wrong with my big guy. Unfortunately, he was already too critical to save. The entire staff was extremely supportive during this horribly horrific time.
Reading the other reviews, I can see why they may be concerned about collecting their money. This place is state-of-the-art. They had my cat inturbated almost immediately, because he was unable to breathe on his own. Although it's rough, especially during a critical circumstance, I can understand. People who don't pay drive up the costs for those of us who do.
I would highly recommend OSVS to anyone needing emergency pet care. Thank you, OSVS, for helping us as much as possible with Big Big. By the way, $65 to have my cat's ashes put in a pretty cherry wood box with a certificate of authenticity that he was cremated by himself - to those of you, like me, that feel ashes are some type of comfort.
Thanks again, everyone. We were blessed you were there for us.
Devon and Dr. Gumash were wonderful to my puppy. I could tell they really care about the animals they interact with. Dr. Ganesh took plenty of time to explain the options and didn't try to pressure me into any unnecessary procedures. Will definitely use them again in the future if my vet is closed!
Have used OSVS many times in the course of Veronica's 14 1/2 years; from orthopedic surgeries to internal medicine consults to emergency room visits. Never had a bad experience. Everyone has always been tremendously competent and professional as well as having a wonderful bedside manner with Veronica.
Our Pekingese had a horrific eye trauma, proptosis. We got her to Ocean State in less than 15 minutes from the incident. They did triage and see her immediately. The front desk moved us into a room fairly quickly, but when you re shaking and covered in blood, a little sympathy and support would be appropriate. The tech just took her and said awww . I can t sign a bunch of forms at the desk or in the waiting room while shaking and crying. Put me in a room, please!!! The vet said they had to take the eye. He was great and called me twice after the surgery with updates. The discharge was scheduled for 9:30 am the next day, and it took an average amount of time. Those techs were very kind. Here s why my review is 2 stars.... nobody called us in the days following the surgery to see how my dog was. She went home on three medications and with stitches in her missing eye. We went home with a dog that suddenly had one eye. It is a big adjustment for her but for us as well. Seeing your dogs eye pop out is very traumatic. It would have been nice to get a phone call to see how she was doing and how we were too. She s walking into things and can t see her food and we are left with no support.
I had to rush our dog Jackson there during the night, as he became in critical condition. The staff and vet were very understanding, patient and compassionate throughout this traumatic event. Even though we found out he was terminal, they helped us with decision options and were respectful when difficult decisions were made. They were accommodating afterward and offered us some private time with our beloved dog. I also know they treated my son's dog two weeks ago who developed cancer and need treatment. I would recommend them highly.
Dr.Horn and Dr. Hunt took such good care of my pet! I could never have asked for better care for my little pet and they took very good care of me as well. I walked in with a pet in crisis and received immediate assistance from a caring and highly skilled staff who were able to place an IV into a small dehydrated animal with precision and revive her enough to stabilize her for several hours before the final call came. And even then, the veterinarians were very kind and made my choices easy and helped every step of the way. And they helped me with the final arrangements too. This is not my first experience here. I have rescued many animals and I ALWAYS bring them here for care. I always will because I can count on excellent care around the clock.
My dog was having violent seizures and definitely needed to stay overnight for observation and care. They made him leave because they couldn t wait the 24 hours I needed to get the 1000 dollar deposit they wanted to keep him. He s now had 6 more seizures since we left about 12 hours ago. And it still cost 250 for blood work that told me everything I knew already and told them. I won t be going back. I m not surprised to see all the 1 star ratings given to this money first animal care second type of place. The receptionist was nice though. Fk this place they suck. If you have to drive the extra distance and go somewhere else it will probably be worth it.
I had to rush my bunny, Zen, in this past weekend when he had been struggling to breathe. I had been able to get to the desk and tell them what was going on, the receptionist who was on for the Saturday night (12/16/17) was very quick to call someone up to come see him. The technician was very polite, I feel bad that I cannot remember her name (I was in such a panic), but she was nice and explained she was going to take him into their treatment area to get him some help. While we waited, I was doing papers and I could see how responsive they were to emergencies that came in and the waiting room was clearing out very quickly at the rate they were going.
After about a half hour/45 mins, we were called into a room and the technician explained what was going on and what was being done. We waited another 20 minutes before a doctor had come in and had been able to go over everything that was happening. We had Dr Young and I was very satisfied with her. She was patient and showed general concern for Zen's condition and gave me some hope he would be alright. We talked about care and ways to better his life, she even gave me tips on how to litter box train him! She even offered to continue the eye drops that had been prescribed the day before for what his doctor thought was just conjunctivitis.
She went over everything they had done and were planning to do once Zen was stable and went over the estimate and admission forms. There had been one part I was struggling with and that was if he had stopped breathing. She was very honest with me about that one and said it was hard to bring them back if they had stopped breathing and was very considerate about our concerns. I had wanted them to try, but she helped me see that trying to resuscitate him would be hard, and we opted not to do anything if he stopped breathing. The estimate was decent and only had to pay the low end for the night, I would have had to pay more if Zen was there longer. I was even able to go back and see him before I left to say goodbye. He looked sad, but the technician assured me they would take the best care of him that they could. And would update us in the morning.
At 7:30 the next morning, we got a call he passed away. It was a hard loss as he was my baby, but I was thankful that he was in the care of the staff at OSVS. I love that they offered to have his ashes returned to me and are going to do a paw print for me. They offered for my family and I to go see him before he went, but we had declined.
Though Zen passed away, I cannot thank Dr Young and the staff at OSVS for all they did to help him. I felt better knowing that he didn't suffer and went peacefully. I don't regret bringing him in to be seen and giving him a chance, I think I would have felt worse if I had opted to wait to take him back to his primary vet. In an emergency, I would no doubt bring my pets there.
I wanted to say a special thanks to Jamie Resnick and the staff at OSVS. My healthy, well-mannered2 yo Belgian Shepherd started showing bizarre signs of obvious discomfort and potential mild to threatening illness. Her bowels had been normal, so I was concerned. I brought her in as her signs did not dissipate rather increase. Everyone was professional, kind, and communicative. Resnick was informative, knowledable and relatable. I felt confident Maisie was in great care. I left with more knowledge as well and although it was an unexpected cost and ended up being (fortunately) nothing serious, it s better to be safe then sorry. We are not permanently local so thank you for a great ER experience in RI. Sofia and Maisie
These people are the best of the best, especially Dr. Sweet and all the AMAZING vet techs. My regular vet referred us here when my young energetic pup Verona became lame in her back legs, and our best hope to improve her quality of life was a TPLO. I truly cannot put into words how amazing Dr. Sweet is, and I am so grateful to him and all the vet techs for taking such good care of my girl.
Dr. Sweet called me right after surgery to let me know how she was, and spent a great deal of time with me in-person making sure I knew exactly how to take care of her post-op. Everyone is always so amazing, even in the midst of a pandemic, our follow-up x-ray appointment went smoothly, and the vet techs (my heroes) just rock.
These folks never see pets or people at their best--The puppies that come to see them are ill or injured, and the people that come to see them are scared and confused. And these amazing people show up every day with such empathy, grace, professionalism and compassion. Thank you, so SO much.
First the good and then the bad. They saved my 18 year old Tuxedo cat who was having some severe internal bleeding as a side effect to the anesthesia at my regular vet after getting a tooth pulled. We raced him to Ocean State Veterinary Specialists where he had an overnight stay. Whatever they did worked. Three weeks later he's fine and loudly purring in my lap right now as I write this. Thank you! I will be forever grateful!!!! Now the bad: They have the worst convoluted way to check in your pet. Sit in the parking lot. Call a phone number and then work your way through confusing recorded prompts as your pet sits in your car during an emergency and possibly dying. They need a better system. So my girlfriend just ran into the building with him and got yelled at by several people at the front desk telling her to GET OUT!!! This is supposedly because of the pandemic. However in an emergency you really aren't going to care who is yelling at you inside. So my girlfriend stayed there, yelled back at them until someone took our cat. Not the best experience when we arrived. However the Doctors did their job well and that is what really matters. So thank you again!
This is one of the most impressive and dedicated group of medical professionals I have ever seen - much better than those at many of the "people" hospitals. We brought our cat, "Stitch" in after finding him at death's door when we arrived home from a weekend getaway. He had come down with a urinary blockage - a life-threatening condition for male cats. He was laying on his side, in shock from all of the toxins backed up in his body. He was unable to move, hardly breathing, getting cold and getting worse every minute. With a quick diagnosis and realistic advice from a wonderful local vet - Dr. Laurie Lofton, we rushed 30 miles to O.S.V.S. Since we called ahead with the diagnosis, they instantly took him in and started working to bring him back. In less than an hour, he was awake and sitting up! They managed to stabilize him over the next few days, and we brought home a very happy cat. He even made some friends during his stay. We want to thank Dr. Amy Trow and the entire team of dedicated professionals who were so helpful and personable in helping us out. Several other reviews mention the high cost of the care at OSVS, and yes, it was expensive, but they had to do a lot of things to save him. Right up front, we were presented with an itemized estimate of "best case" to "worst case" costs, including options in case of unexpected changes. We noticed that the itemized cost for each item actually was not expensive at all - totally unlike those "people hospitals". We paid the "best case" figure as a down payment, and the bill did not increase at all, even after we picked him up 3 days later. In fact, they said we had a credit of 83 cents, and gave us the change. Did I mention that they are honest too? - Bill & Lori V. - Chepachet, RI
Thank God for these people! My dog was very sick and I was terrified. I had to bring her in at 5:30 am on a Sunday because her regular vet is closed on Sundays. Every person I dealt with from the receptionist, to the vet techs, to the doctors, were incredible. They even sent me photos of her during her stay so I could see her because people aren't allowed in right now due to covid. I think they do allow you in for special circumstances though. I couldn't believe how friendly and knowledgeable everyone was. I truly felt like my baby girl was in safe and capable hands. That is so important when you are scared because you have to leave your dog with people who you don't know. They called me several times to keep me updated on her status and made me feel like they were treating her as a priority. I am so grateful for the care she received. I would absolutely go back here should we need emergency care ever again in the future. Her doctor was named Dr Sun and I will never forget how wonderful she was to my baby!
Called with my 8 year old house cat with breathing issues and they said to bring him in. When we walked in our cat was immediately taken into the back room, after @30 minutes we were called to the counter and she started throwing numbers at us for what we owe. Heck we had no idea what was going on, come to find out they mixed us up with another person, so they said hold on. They come back and start another dialog only to find out they mixed us up with another person. At this point I was getting very concerned for my best friend. After sitting down for another 20 minutes someone came out and asked us into a room. The cat had fluid in his lungs and they said it was not something that would get better so very reluctantly we decided to put him to sleep so he would not suffer. We asked to see him but they said we had to pay first before seeing, and saying good bye to him. Now the funky math, ER visit $125.00 max, injection to put him to sleep was quoted $45, cremation $20, total $238.00, sorry to say it does not add up. This may not seem like a lot of money for most but it is every penny we had. We found the staff mostly very very cold and uncaring and the business was very greedy. The fact that Money is the only thing that matters here is a very big turn off. I would NEVER recommend this place unless you have no other option like we did being a weekend evening, they are the only 24 hour vet in area.
Have had to bring at least 2 pets in for help..i already knew one had cancer..my dog..we had to say goodbye to her..that was sad. Euthinizing plus cremation is expensive. Although they were nice there Most recently my oldest cat had a neuralogical problem..I had the ONLY neuro doc for cats in the state. She and her staff were super nice and gentle. They did all they could for her which helped for awhile. When it came time to say goodbye, it was heart wrenching..but they gave her a little coffin, flowers and later on, sent me her paw prints and two cards in the mail. I have brought other pets there before when i said goodbye..one guy was semi sympathetic but i guess after awhile they kind of detach themselves. All in all, its a nice place, albeit expensive place. Shop around. But neuro doc is kind here and good staff with her.
My avian vet was out of state until March and my cockatiel Stormy needed to be seen ASAP. Their avian vet was away as well however they listened to me as the owner and we came up with a treatment plan for her that not only saved her life but also was within my budget. Emergency vet visits will always be super overpriced but I will say they were very accommodating and helped me find something that I could afford and save my baby. If you are having an emergency I definitely recommend as they WILL try to save their lives.
We called with an issue about our dog, were told we could pull up and be taken. We drive the entire way out there which we told them we are 30 mins away. We drive all the way out there and as we go to pull in they call us saying they can no longer take our dog. This place is extremely unprofessional.
Have been here many times, this time was the hardest! Dr.Medeiros was wonderful with me. She explained Wilburs issues , was very compassionate and understanding of our decision to put Wilbur down. The tent outside was so much better than a room inside. We were not rushed, enjoyed quality last minutes with Wilbur. When they came out for final injection the young man was also very understanding and compassionate. Made things a lil easier for us. Thank you so much! Judy DeLuca
We went in with a very sick two year old that had been fighting an infection for a week. His temp was 105.5. Apollo became the hospital sweetheart as he went through the process of being diagnosed and treated. The technicians, the front staff, the doctors were all the best you could ask for. They were all both professional and at the same time very personal in their concern for both Apollo and us. We were never left with an unanswered question and every test and procedure was explained and the results were given to us along with a recommended next step in the process. We have our pup back with his family now and OSVS is still following his progress. We cannot thank them enough for the care we received and would highly recommend the staff there. Thank you all for the care Apollo received.
We brought our dog in and thought who we thought was having a stroke.. they grabbed her , took her in the back and have her the best care for the next couple of days. She is ok, had vertigo thank God!! They are amazing!! Went in the back to see her and it was so busy , like a triage.. everyone was working so hard. We are so thankful for taking such good care of our Penny!!
I highly recommend OSVS to anyone looking for a regular veterinarian or in need of emergency care for their pet. I recently had a late night emergency with my pet, and I was very impressed with the level of attention, care, and comfort they provided to both me and my pup. Again, these people are great.. 5 stars.
A little over a year ago I utilized services at this veterinarian. My 8 year old chihuahua had ongoing liver disease since birth and had taken a turn for the worst. My veterinarian could no longer help him and he was in crisis and needed a higher level of care. Ultimately going brain dead. My vet offered Tufts (which I have had terrible experiences with) or OSVS. I chose to give OSVS a shot. Best decision I could have made. My chihuahua didn't make it that day, and I was nowhere near ready to let go or make the decision to put him down. Kathy Tamberello (sp?) was our emergency vet. She was an angel sent to me that day. She put me at ease and got me into the right head space to make the humane decision to let go. She shared tears with me and spent ample amount of time in our room while I was saying goodbye. When all was said and done and he had passed, she walked out with him resting comfortably over her shoulder. I will never forget how she did that for me. It left me with a memory of him at peace. She showed genuine compassion that day. Fast forward a year from now one of my dogs is experiencing some vision loss and I feel totally confident coming back to OSVS.
Went in with a cat who had a temp of 105. Five hours later and $464 later they could not tell me what was wrong with the cat. Would not go again nor would I recommend them to anyone, They are way overpriced and were of no help.
Screw these guys. They couldn't care less about your beloved pet or more about every last penny they're able to get out of you. Took my cat in once around 10 PM because I was frantically helpless. He was isolating himself, uncontrollably drooling, being lethargic, and refused to eat. Waiting endless hours wouldn't have been worthless if they were of any help. After spending $600 for two diagnostic tests, they had zero clue what was causing my cat to act so unorthodox. They wanted another $300 to run a blood test and they were pretty convincing, making it seem as if it was vital and my cat had contracted some type of terminal feline disease. I couldn't afford it, so I took him to Kitty City the next day. Spent $100 for the check up and meds, to be told he was having oral complications impairing him from eating. Here's the cherry on top: THE VET EVEN CLAIMED MY CAT WASNT NEUTERED AND HE WAS!!! Wouldnt recommend them to anyone unless you're looking for an incompetent and unempathetic staff.
I have came here twice because once my once my dog eaten one of my friends ash trays and as soon as I got there my dog was loved and taken in very quickly. Yes, they are expensive but if you cant to afford to pay for a incident that is happening with your animal, then maybe you shouldn't have one. Many comments are about money, it is not the vets fault you may not have enough money. Like they have said on responses they need to pay for all the needs your animal may need plus the staff that work over night. The second time witch was just last night at 1130pm my dog had gotten hit by a car and the person didnt even stop. I brought him there he got immediate love and care and was taken in over night. everyone was so freindly. I always have amazing experiences here. If it wasnt for this 24/7 vet my dog could have died.
The only recommendation I have would be to have CSR s explain Care Credit to customers. I was not aware when I made my initial deposit for emergency trauma care. This would have saved me a lot of stress had I known I could apply at that time. My overall experience was exceptional. The surgery department & Dr Sweet are without compare!
My cat swallowed a rubber band, and I was fearful of surgery. But, they were able to scope it out and keep her overnight. She's doing so much better at home now, thank god for them!
Was very upset with service. Friday night. Waited four hours for service. When they saw the dog was of no help. Had to put dog down on Saturday at another facility.
Everything and everyone was great, especially given the restrictions that this pandemic puts on a normal vet visit. I'm very grateful to the whole neurology team who cared for Wrigley. The process was organized and timely and professional!
Our now 14-year-old Doberman first saw cardiologist, Dr. Adam Kane in January, 2019 for degenerative valvular disease and DCM. Dr. Kane has been wonderful with our guy, and I could not be happier with my choice to take Baxter to OSVS. The exams have been thorough, well-documented, and I perceive that Dr. Kane truly cares about our guy s well-being. The meds have been a great help, to the point that Baxter has shown some improvement at our last visit. I have no complaints about the costs. A shout-out also to Dr. Kane s assistant, Christine, who is the best. We are grateful.
I have been going to Ocean State since approximately 2004. In that time I have taken 4 dogs there. The staff has been wonderful. The have been, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and above all compassionate. I had one dog that received 9 months of chemo. He didn't make it. The help and compassion shown by the staff helped a lot.
Ocean State is awful! I have been there several times, due to emergencies, and one of my pets have recovered from their treatments. All they care about is the money and it just makes me sick. I have no problem spending thousands of dollars, if my pets are better off in the long run. However, when you take your pet to Ocean State because of an emergency and your regular vet is not open, but then need to take the pet to your regular vet to fix the mistakes that Ocean State has made is insane! I find it extremely frustrating when you are told how to clean your pets wound, by the actual Doctor and then days later, she informs you that you are cleaning the wound wrong...same thing goes for days in between medication and my favorite...the doctor will be out of the country, so your pet can be seen in 11 days from now...how about no. So, this morning, my baby will be going to Wickford Vet, so that my baby can be seen by experienced Doctors who have compassion for animals and does not look at them as a profit maker...
I CANT EVEN EXPRESS HOW MAD I AM. I came all the way from ATTLEBORO because I called them and they said they billed !!! I drive an hour to get here for them to turn my dog away !!! HOW CAN YOU CALL YOURSELF A PER HOSPITAL !!! My poor pup has blood in his stool and you denied him ! You are awful !!
OSVS offers the gold star of care that you can t find anywhere else. Over time Every one of my pets have seen the emergency doctors, surgeons, oncologist, ophthalmologist, internists on several occasions and I know they have my pets best interest at heart. Most recently, my 2 cats see internist Dr. Crain. She loves my cats and we love her right back. She tells me right away what is going on and does what she needs to in order to get the answers how to best treat them. She has done scopes on both And coincidently they had both had the same illnesses. They were both diabetic now remission, both had IBD, now small cell lymphoma. She has guided us all along the way step by step making all the meds and changes easy. We love OSVS and so thankful there is a safe and smart place to take care of my sick fur babies And recommend the absolute best treatment plan available.
If I could do no star I would. I was sent there in an emergency situation with my puppy. Found out she needed major surgery to save her life which started over 3,000. I did not qualify for credit, so was given 2 choices, euthanize, or "allow a vet there to adopt her and take over her care" great options. Found out AFTER I allowed that, there are a lot of non profits, defenders of animals, fairly dogparents who can HELP ..I was NEVER TOLD!!! These sciences are outraged that I was not given the info. Who and what kind of in sensitive people do this?? I called to get update just to see if she made it and some rude, crass unprofesional said YOU GAVE HER UP, SORRY !! BEWARE OF THIS PLACE,,CHANNEL 10 did an interview with me about them..they were "unable " to comment. That's ok because next week we do a follow up and will be letting a lot of people know the rude, unprofessional, sickining, disgusting way this place operates.
Had to take my dog here tonight due to him having an awful seizure.. They were amazing with the help they gave.. So kind and understanding... They took my baby right in and tended too him... The outcome wasn t well for my dog, he needed to be put to sleep... But I would truly like to Thank all The staff that helped him and myself and my husband tonight... What a great vet.
My 9 week old kitten hurt her leg on Tuesday and I arrived at 8:30 pm and we didn't leave until 11:45 pm (checkout shows before but I still had to wait for meds after I paid) for just an xray and exam. The doctor took several xrays and came back and told me she didn't see a break/fracture but wanted the radiologist to read the results to confirm as well. Since I came on Tuesday and she told me the radiologist was off on Wednesday (they should staff them 7 days of a week just like an ER does) and that I would have to wait till Thursday for a read to confirm. She told me to call back on Thursday or they would call me on Thursday for results. I waited until Thursday at 2 pm and I called them. I was told I couldn't get the results as I had to speak with the actual doctor my kitten saw that night and she wasn't working at the time of my call. I told her how is this possible as this is NOT what the doctor told me nor what my print out of our visit indicated would happen. The print out nor the doctor we saw did not say to only call when that doctor was working for our results. There are over 40 vets there and not one could tell me if her foot was broke by the radiologist read/report? The doctor I saw told me a tech could tell me the results after they were interpreted or another doctor could confirm the results. Seems this place doesn't follow their own policy yet it cost me $350 for an 3 min exam, 2 xrays and pain meds for a 2 lb kitten. I left the office with little to no comfort from the time I brought my kitten in and still several days later I still don't have a concrete diagnosis as the reception would not transfer my call. However, after several attempts requesting to speak with a doctor or office manager, the receptionist told me all the doctors in house today were caught up and could take my call but it would take several hours for them to read our chart since I was not their patient so it would just be better for me to call back when the doctor we saw comes in. Yet, when I asked for a manager, my call was taken and results were finally provided. This is horrible customer service. The call should not have escalated or lasted as long as it did. I followed the steps I was directed by the doc but the office did not until I asked for a manager.
While I am fully aware that it is incredibly expensive to take care of ill pets , making finance priority over the well being of a poor sick animal is horrific. My pet was incredibly sick and on the verge of death. They were willing to treat him but offered no guarantee he would be ok. After telling me it was $1400 to keep him over night and they needed a min of $700 deposit. Also that his surgery (which had no gaurentee or even a percentage of survival) would be $2400 - $3000. That isn't including after care, meds, or the diet that would be prescribed. They kept me waiting from 8 in the morning till a little after 4 pm with hardly any explanation. I had to call multiple time and was placed on hold for what seemed like forever. After telling them I made other arrangements for my pet I was told he would be out shortly. After a hour and a half I called and was told the vet needed to verify that I was taking my pet where I had said see he was so ill. I had told them the place I was going to take him to would be closing at 4:30 and it was now nearing 3:15. Finally at 3:50 I was called and told I needed to pay close to $500 before they would release him. If you have plenty of money then this is the place for you.
My daughter s beloved Bella passed away at 11:00pm in her arms at home. She was inconsolable. They welcomed my daughters to bring Bella to Hospital. Their kindness will always be remembered with immense gratitude.
I just want to thank Dr. Youngblood for all of her help and compassion when it came to my dog Diamond (my baby). Diamond needed to be examined and treated and Dr. Youngblood looked out for us in the most amazing way. I am so happy that she has a great heart! This was my first (hopefully my last) emergency with my little dog and I m glad Dr. Youngblood was able to help. I hope she remembers us because we will always remember her. We are eternally grateful!
I had to bring my 6 year old cat in. I was worried because I had a bad experience before with them. This time was so much better. My cat was having trouble breathing. They were very careful with him and the techs were very nice and asked a ton of questions while they brought him in the back. They asked if we wanted to be notified before they did any procedures. The vet came in the room multiple times to update us. Unfortunately our situation didn't work out. Our cat was critical with a diaphragmatic hernia and we chose to let him go. They did not pressure us and comforted us.
I have only ever been here to put my animals to sleep. I can't speak for the veterinary care or help they provide for sick animals who have a chance to pull through. I can only say they were respectful and we'll equipped to euthanize my ferret when no one else was open. They were able to quickly and easily put the drug into his vein with no mistakes, which is saying something because ferrets are small and veins hard to get. Wasn't expensive. Received nice card and an inked paw print of my ferret.
We took our dog there for an emergency, they took him right away in the back to get him accessed, the doctor came in and told what was wrong, explained everything to us, the worse case and the better. They let us visit before they started to work on him. Then later that night we got a call letting us know how he was doing. And again the next morning. Dr Hallowell was great!! The surgeon called to let us know how Oscar was after the surgery. The front staff was friendly and kind. Although, they may be on the more expensive i feel it was a great choice, his is my baby and his with it. Definitely would recommend them!! Thank you Dr Hallowell and staff members who helped save it boy!! I was nice to know he was in good hands!
I don't usually write reviews, but I had an excellent experience here. Went in with a guinea pig showing possible early signs of an upper respiratory infection. Staff was kind, helpful, and saw to my little Ralphie promptly. (Of course they prioritize and see the sickest pets first but I was in and out within an hour and 45 minutes.) The vet spent several minutes with me going over the health of my pet an prescribed medication. The price was a little higher than other veterinary offices, but the kindness of the staff and quality of care is more than worth it.
Went.in to drop off hurt bird we found. Trying to do the right thing. The girl who greeted us when we walked in was completely rude and very unprofessional. We own our own business and would never treat our customers like that. You didnt do us a favor we did nature a favor. You should really consider a new line of work where you don't deal with people who are sad and or grieving. Never go back there.
I would highly recommend OSVS. The staff were incredibly kind, courteous, and professional. The vets seemed very knowledgeable and empathetic. My guy unfortunately did not make it, but they sent a card with a handwritten note along with cardstock with his pawprints. I was very touched by this, they are not my normal vet, I was visiting them for an emergency. They are also one of the few vets who will see exotics, they treat just about every animal. My visit turned out very poorly, but everything was handled as it should have been.
We had the absolute best experience if that is possible when you put your beloved pet to sleep. Some people think dogs are just animals, but some animals bring so much love & happiness to your family that their death is very sad. Dr. Andres was kind and compassionate. Saying the kindest things to us and making a very hard experience as good as it could be. My sons and I want to thank her for all she did for us and Annabelle and the lovely note she hand wrote in the sympathy card.
Took my dog here when he had an accident that left his back and neck injured. He was wailing in pain. Staff took good care of him and he was able to make a full recovery...no complications or lasting effects from the ordeal.Everything was top notch and aided in making a bad situation much less stressful. Highly recommend.
My dog has been here several times for emergencies and most recently to see the neurologist. I ve always had a great experience with the staff and Drs. The neurologist spent almost an hour with my dog getting to know his history and coming up with a plan. I can t get a human Dr to spend more than 5 minutes in an exam room so it was nice to not feel rushed. The staff is always so patient with my dog which is a relief because he s not the easiest to work with. The negative reviews on here should be taken with a grain of salt. Emergency and specialty care is always going to be more expensive than a regular vet. You are paying for the expertise of a specialist and with emergency you are paying for convenience.
I have been to OSVS on a couple of occasions and have always thought they were overpriced but in an emergency situation you have to deal with that. This last time was a total ripoff. I brought my 4 year old cat in because he was having an issue with his mouth. He wouldn't close it and he was drooling. We walked in on Sunday morning and when the tech asked me what was going on with him I told her "something is going on inside his mouth, he winced when he tried to eat his morning and he's drooling" . She took him to be examined, when she came back she informed us that he had no fever, all his vitals were good but that she thought he has a dislocated jaw. We had no reason to question her because we are not experts, although it sounded strange to us. We were then presented with a $600 bill which we paid and were told they were going to give him a sedative and try to manipulate his jaw back into place. We were told to go home and they would call us. When I called back 5 hours later I was told that they tried to manipulate his jaw back into place but they couldn't do it so we had to wait until morning for the surgery team to come in. Another $800. (total now $1400) I got a call at 8:15am on Monday from a surgeon who told me there was nothing in the x-ray (taken on Sunday) that showed a dislocated jaw and he thought an infected tooth was the problem, he asked my permission to extract the tooth, which I gave him. He called an hour later and said my cat was doing fine and we could pick him up that afternoon. I can't even begin to think when the lies began. Did the vet even look in my cats mouth? How is it they couldn't manipulate his jaw into place, when it was never out of place to start with? I'm having trouble believing that someone who went to veterinary school all those years can't tell a rotten tooth from a dislocated jaw. To make matters worse when I arrived to pick him up they tried to hit me up for another $32. which I refused to pay. I am writing this review to let others know to be very careful not to get robbed by these people. They have not heard the last of me.
From being greeted at the car to his return to my car... the experience was perfect. I appreciate the phone contact report from Dr Kane! Very personalized and informative. Thank you!
I thought you help animals in the case of a emergency not rip them off !!! So lets see if you dont have thousands to save your pet they have to die?? Won't work with clients!! Think of the animals and the clients what they go threw!!
This facility provided great care, professional and comforting service, from the receptionist, technicians and doctor. Realizing after the fact that I called to check on status too often (every two hours) I can't believe I never caught a hint of annoyance. I received caring considerate service for my pet and I from first entry though followup calls.
We've used Ocean state Vet a few times staff is a ways polite compassionate and friendly. They are always great with answers questions and keep in touch with you amazingly. Our dogs have always had great treatment there.
I highly recommend. I had moved to the area only a few weeks before I took my dog here. I had to euthanize my dog due to lymphoma that he had been fighting for quite a while. It is already difficult to move somewhere new, but to also have to say goodbye to your best friend makes it that much harder. The entire staff was extremely professional and were very sincere. Many places you get the feeling that people are not 100% genuine in their words and actions, however, at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists there was a feeling that their condolences were sincere.
Came in with my dog in labor first I was lied too by the front desk about prices they took forever to see my dog then was told it was miscommunication with the shift change if you consider your pet as part of your family don t put it in the hands of these ppl.to them it s all about money and shouldn t be in the business of helping our pets worse experience ever talk about getting kick while down no profesionalisum Linda Adams pls check with your staff
Brought in my 3 year old lab who was puking up bile and not going to the bathroom. After taking her in, examining her, xrays, they gave us meds and released her. 2 days later she wasn't better, brought her back. Fortunately we brought a doctor wiht us, an MD in the fmaily, who examined the xrays and right away spotted a blockage in our dogs intestine. She came perilously close to dying because they didn't know how to read an xray. They did the surgery, removed the obstruction, and she is doing well today, at 8 years old. Super expensive. They charged us $16- for a collar when she in with one. the collar they charged us for looked like it was for a cat, not a 90 pound dog. I don't recall what else was on the bill as its been 6 years, but it was eye opening.
We had our 17 year old cat put down and they were absolutely wonderful. They took great care in our cat and put us at ease thru the whole ordeal. Thank you for being so professional and caring. Greatly recommend
Our dog Tuxedo was taken in on a Saturday evening after receiving a traumatic life threatening impact injury. The prices for an initial check up were provided to me. I found this to be good business practice as it put me at ease of not being surprised or anxious of costs. I found the exam prices reasonable considering the emergency services they provide. It turns out that usually they suggest a hospital stay for our situation which cost more. However, they did not pressure nor take advantage of me. While presenting this option they informed me in detail the Tuxedo was very fortunate. He was injured but it appeared it could heal with treatment provided on their exam, so I was empowered with a choice. I choose to take him home if this remained the case. After a further examination Tuxedo did have a pelvic injury & was in pain. They offered to do an X-Ray & blood work just ensure no fracture. Again, they informed me that they thought the damage was not a fracture nor did he have other internal complications but these tests could verify this. I felt empowered with a choice, I agreed to these tests. The results were good news. Finally everything looked good, but we are not out of the woods. So lastly, two different vets sat down with me in detail, to explain each potential issue & how to monitor his breathing / health, it was personal & not overwhelming, they took the time to train me. This is what they usually do for overnight observations. This in support of my choice to take him home. Clearly had the situation been worse, they would have suggested otherwise. The point is they provided me with an honest detailed assessment each step of the way. They suggested but did not push services I did not need despite us being in a vulnerable position. Overall, I dealt with multiple staff including Two Vets a Tech and the Receptionist, all were sensitive two my situation And were very professional. They care about animals. Unfortunately pet emergencies and cost are an unfortunate reality that one must confront simultaneously. Depending on the costs & emergency, there just might not be a good answer. I had no issues with them being upfront about this nor there payment methods. I have zero issues with them being a business or making a profit. It should be of no surprise to anyone. As long as they are genuinely passionate about animals and doing it for the right reasons. Lastly, all I can ask for is to have a place that can provide emergency services making them as affordable as they can & work with you to keep cost down when possible. I am pleased to say that this was my experience on Saturday night.
I must say, through the years I've used ocean State for every dog I've ever owned and I'm always touched by the warmth of the staff ... A very special thank you to Dr. Sweet once again for the support and care of my dog Mackey. His gentleness and kind heart always amazes me. A top notch doctor, one whom I trust with my most valuable possession, Mackey . I wouldn't take my dog to any other specialist other than Dr. Sweet. The veterinarian technicians and front staff are an amazing team. Couldn't ask for more genuine, kind, warm and competent individuals. The care received from beginning to end is simply phenomenal. I'd like to thank you all for everything you do to make things easier duringd what's always a stressful time. I can honestly say, I truly love and appreciate all of you.
Staff is super nice and their exotics department is wonderful. Their ER can be quite aggravating however. It s too bad they don t have more staff to help with the long wait times. If you go to the ER (especially with an animal that s not a dog or cat) you are going to be waiting a very long time. I don t mind waiting, but communication is key instead of letting someone just sit and ignore them. It is absolutely heartbreaking to sit useless and watch your feathered/furry child suffer while not one person at the emergency animal hospital helped for hours. Another aggravation is how expensive it is just to walk through the door. In the past I have paid $290 just to walk in the door with a bird and have a physical assessment only. This is not to say the staff doesn t work hard and care for their jobs but just to share common issues people have here. As previously stated, almost everyone I ve ever come into contact with at this facility is very nice and knowledgeable. Once in their hands, your pets are in good hands (especially if they re an exotic animal being seen by that department).
We were impressed with the treatment , attention and interest provide our cat. Yes , it is a bit pricey but for all they offer we feel the price is justified. Then , because Casey was quite I'll and sedated we visited him in the ICE
My daughter encountered a callous vet. When I called to inform them how they had wronged my daughter, and more so our pet they have a Liason who admitted that the vet approached said laison and told her she treated my daughter wrong, Then went on saying but we are blah bablah blah, there are dying animals,,,, saying but is just cancelling everything before the word but. There was NO apology. I asked that the vet write an apology to my daughter, but that is what the liaison women does, apologies for the wrongs of the vet. I am so upset, I can't even think good to write this, but am sure my daughter will when she is feeling better. It is just hard watching your pet decline and die at home.
Excellent vet hospital. Dr. Clarke and staff were a compassionate professional team. It was a difficult visit saying good bye to my last greyhound. They care about the animal and their family. Would definitely go back here for vet care when I have pets again. Thank you to everyone at Ocean State. I could never do your job.
My girlfriend and I took her dying bearded dragon here to be examined at the ER and it took a full 4 hours to be seen. He had gotten worse during the absurdly long wait and succumbed to his illness later in the night.
I went to Ocean State Veterinary Specialists on 7/25/2020 with my parrot Braden and we got the best service ever. I want to say a huge thanks to Jeffrey Toraason, DVM who looked at my pet. Not only did he give me a lot of feedback on how to provide the best comfortable lifestyle for my parrot due to his incurable disease called atherosclerosis, he also went the extra mile and did the best he could including recommending another specialist if he doesn t feel well again for more advice. My family and I have been following the steps from the visit and my parrot s becoming more active and stronger. There s still a long way to go since it s only been day 2, but I m very satisfied seeing my parrot finally singing and talking again. I also actually drove 2 hours before reaching this clinic and I will definitely come there again since it was worth the drive. I m praying that things continue to stay positive for us, but please don t be alarmed if you wait long there because the vets are giving your pet the best care and it takes time.
Last night we had the unfortunate experience of witnessing a vehicle strike a cat while we were driving behind them. Long story short we brought the cat into OSVS emergently and they were amazingly kind, fast and well-informed about what to do under this unusual circumstance. They did not ask for a single dollar from me, they took the cat and cared for her, scanned her for a chip and will be re-uniting her with her family. I could not be happier with how they handled everything (& it sounds like the cat is going to be fine ).
My kitten, Gracie, ingested a toxic flower accidentally :( a coworker bought my mom flowers for her birthday, and not realizing they were lilies, left them on the kitchen counter. My cat then jumped up and ate one. When we realized what had happened, and that she was sick to her stomach, we called everywhere. The ONLY place that would take her was Ocean state vet!! They were so kind and helpful! They treated me and my kitten very well. She is currently back home and feeling much better! They sent me photos of her everyday and called me with an update everyday around the same time! I recommend them 1000%
