I was looking forward to this place when seeing it was coming soon. It's a great Mediterranean restaurant on Austin, with reasonable prices and great food. The staff is very friendly and will get you your food fast. The inside is really nice, with big windows to look out while eating. I really enjoyed it, and delivery is a super cool addition. Now I can get great gyros on Austin, or from the comfort of my home :)

Authentic and vibrant menu. Generous portions and delicious dishes across the board. The bread alone is heavenly dipped in the fragrant Italian olive oil it's served with. The grilled meats are a highlight. We had lamb and chicken both were juicy and delicious. The sauteed calf's liver appetizer was also very tasty. The service was wonderful and the staff very nice. Loved our meal here and would definitely come back.

Food is always good. Portions are fair. Price is a bit high which is why I don't eat here more often. Staff are aggressive but in a nice way. Def recommend this place.
C19 status: They are doing walk in orders, call in/pick-up orders as well as delivery.

Good food, nice and friendly stuff but grub it for to go.
Restaurant space here is so tiny that sometimes it seems that people can sit on your neck or they can drop something on your plate when they try to squeeze between the tables.

Newly opened restaurant that serves great Mediterranean food. The smell of the kebabs inside the restaurant is intoxicating.

We only ordered the mixed grill, babaganoush, and haydari to go. The mixed grill was well worth it, a little expensive, but a large serving! Their pita bread was so good!

This place use to be so great. We d order in at least once a week. This is now the second time we ve ordered since they reopened from the pandemic, the bread is stall, and my falafel and hummus dish is at least one day old. Plus they got our second dish wrong, AND that bread is also stall. So disappointed...

Great fast service!!! The food taste Great!!! Everyone was polite. You just feel a little cramped up with the small tables but the food makes up for it. I loved the toasted bread that was served before my meal was brought to me!!!

My family took me there today as a pre-Father's Day treat. It was wonderful! Great food, the wait staff was attentive and friendly, and the portions were quite large. I highly recommend.

Kinda disappointed with this place. I was walking by and ordered a chicken sandwich to go. The staff was friendly. But, when it came to the sandwich there was a lot of dry chicken and the pita was nothing special. As I ate the sandwich it fell apart. Maybe eat there instead.

Went to Oba on a Saturday for lunch. I made it there before the lunch crowd came in. There's always line here and the place is packed but I'm not really sure why. There's seating indoors but the tables are a bit close together. When the weather is nice they also have outside seating.

For appetizer they give you bread, some tzatziki sauce, and some kind of spicy marinara sauce. The bread was fresh and probably my favorite part of the meal.

Ordered a lamb gyro platter with fries. The gyro was super oily and there were a lot of fatty pieces. I usually eat all my food but the food was so oily I couldn't finish it. The fries were seasoned but didn't really have much flavor. My wife ordered a falafel wrap without tomato and onion and literally got a lettuce wrap with a little falafel inside.

The staff was busy and made sure we had full glasses of water but they didn't really take the time to check on us at all or ask us if we wanted anything else.

I won't be coming back and although this place has a lot of great reviews I did not have a good experience here. I give this place 2 stars for the fresh bread.

Good food and good service. Advice: since your place is cramped and the tables too atleast make sure that plates are big enough to hold the food. Small plates for chicken shish kabab and other kababs have the food falling out since the plate size is small. Im not suggesting to increase the food quantity, same quantity but increase the plate size.

Mediterranean food done to perfection: Huge portions, served hot, not greasy, fresh ingredients, beautiful homemade bread that looked like a puffy pillow. Excellent service completes the experience. Yum!

Oba is a victim of its own success. Every time I've gone there has been a line. The reasons are tasty food, reasonable prices and good service.
Now it appears that they will have outdoor seating when the weather permits.
My only criticism is that the humus could use a little more garlic and the front door needs to be self-closing. Too many people leave it open on cold days.

I was so exited to finally see a middle eastern restaurant opening in FH. It looks clean and inviting. We ordered few times, kababs, chicken, beef Gyro. Unfortunately the food does not have the Turkish/ Arabic flavors I was hoping for. It s so bland no spices (sumac, cumin, coriander, allspice, etc.) at all, lemon juice, tahini, etc. even their yogurt sauce is so watery. I hope they get their act together before they go out of business.

Totally hooked on this spot. The food is DELICIOUS!!! Every time I go I try to pick something different on the menu and so far I have been loving them all. I've been coming to this place so often that I think they pretty much know me as I can see the customer appreciation. Keep up the good work guys... And I think you should expand upwards. This place is always packed and that's always a good sign.

Not worth all the 'hype'. Service was poor except for the one waitress who made sure that we had something to drink. The gentleman who took our order, did not even check in after the food was given to us. The falafel wrap was okay. I asked for no tomato and onion and all I got was lettuce and falafel :) The under side of the plate that the gyro platter came on was so dirty and oily, not to mention the gyro was also very oily and fatty (never had gyro with pieces of fat on it before). Gave the half of my falafel sandwich to a homeless person while my husband refused take his leftovers to go. Food is overpriced. Happy to have satisfied my curiosity about this place.

We'll go back and I'll highly recommend this restaurant to my friends.

Delicious food, decent prices. My favorites are the meat pies, rack of lamb, salmon and calamari. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. Outdoor seating is nice during summer time. Might have to wait a bit during dinner but I think it's worth it.

Food is good, but service is terrible.

I ve been here as a sit-down guest and ordered takeout. Both times I had to wait a long time ~30m for my order. Last time I even saw my order be prepared, but the server gave it to someone who came in after me. They re very disorganized.

One more thing, the place is SMALL. As in, you need to ask other people to move or you ll be bumping into their tables when the place is full. This mostly due to the restaurant packing a lot of tables in a tight space. This also makes getting your order or asking your waiter something more of a hassle.

The place is not very big but the reputation is huge and they deserve it. Clean, well priced, very healthy and super delicious mediterranean food. team is very friendly, we were very pleased to meet our new friend "Nicole" she was our pretty cheerful host. we had adana kebab and beef shish kebab and both were delicious. Their signature bread was great too. Not going to mention the Turkish coffee and tea

This food was excellent! Flavorful and just plain old solid Turkish food. The bread was really good! Service was excellent. Definitely will come back. (Couldnt resist and took a bite before snapping the pic lol)

I figured OBA was more of a dine-in restaurant, but I wanted to try it sooner, so I ordered take-out. Large lamb gyro with sides.

It turned out to be a gyro platter rather than a gyro. They could have done a better job of packing the food. The bread was just sort of dumped into the larger bag and not individually wrapped. The aluminum foil container that held the rest of the food was greasy on the outside. The hot sauce and white sauce were in small plastic containers.

The gyro was good, though maybe slightly bland. The sides were disappointing. The salad was lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and no salad dressing. The rice was prepared well, but the choices for that side were limited: either rice or fries. They have hummus, baba ghanooush, and such, but they're separate items that are priced and sized as appetizers, not sides.

Overall, it was good enough given that I paid $18, but I think you will have better luck if you dine-in with the expectation that you will pay more than $30 per person.

Update:

I ordered delivery and spent about $40, figuring that this was a more upscale place and that spending more would get me better food. I ended up being slightly more disappointed.

Basically, the food is bland. It's cooked well and they use quality ingredients and such, but they seem to have a bizarre aversion to seasoning.

You might like this place if you're on a low sodium diet, but I don't care for it.

I ordered a lamb Gyro which New Yorkers know is lamb and salad in a pita. The waiter asked what size which should have altered me that there was a misunderstanding. He brought a plate with rice salad and lamb. I said I wanted a pita and he got upset said that s what I ordered. He then said I can keep my order and order the gyro separate and I said I don t eat rice. He said I am getting the staff in trouble and the took out the menu and started to scold me explaining each item was so I don t make a mistake next time. Which I assured him there would not be a next time. In America the customer is always right. I even gave a $5 tiip which I regret. I will share my experience with others he embarrassed me.

IT HAS BEEN OVER 4 WEEKS . THE OWNER SAID SHE WOULD LOOK AT THE TAPES AND ASKED WHAT I LOOK LIKE AND WHERE WAS I SITTING. ONCE I TOLD HER I WAS BLACK SHE DID NOT FOLLOW UP WITH ME ANYMORE. I GUESS TO HER BLACK LIVES DON'T MATTER. I HAVE LIVED HERE FOR OVER 30 YEARS AND HAVE SEEN STORES COME AND GO AND THEY WON'T LAST. I WILL PASS THE WORD.

Ordered pick up. Chicken was not even fully cooked. Ordered a large planning to share that only included a few extra pieces of chicken. Barely any salad and about 10 fries total. $20 will get you much further anywhere else.

This is an amazing place for when I'm craving halal food and gyros. I usually get the chicken gyro in the pita with fries. Let me tell you it is absolutely made with true love. It is so good and my family all ways orders extra to take home for later. My mom is addicted to the hummus and would eat it all day if she could. Anyways the only down thing is that the place is a little small but to be honest is better than most spacious restaurants I have been to. Anyways keep doing what ur doing and remember to always order extra white sauce.

Had a great lunch at this turkish restaurant. Everything was served in good portion and well flavored. Upon lunch we ordered desert kunefe and turkish coffee and it was delicious to perfection. Staff was very attentive and aware of our needs. Recommend it for anyone.

Tried giving them a second chance after having a bad service at the first time as well. Never going back.

Absolutely horrendous waiter and the food was even worse than him. This was a male server with long hair, he wouldn t tell us his name but he had an attitude and said racist remarks. I wanted to speak to a manager or owner about the food and it s quality. After I asked to speak to the owner, he said he was the manager on duty and that he refused to do anything about the issue at hand. Long story short, the food was sub par, the service was disgusting and I would NEVER RECOMMEND anyone eating here.

Came to pick up food and the waitress was rude. I said I came for pick up and she said "for what?". I'm like okay... its for pick up what else? And I gave my name and I pointed to the bag that is clearly mine. And she said she needs to see what I ordered. That never happened to me here or anywhere before. It's the waitress with black sweater with tutle neck. Terrible experience.
