The office manager refused me service because he said I had to pay my full decuable up front. I said no I only had to pay the copayment. He didn't let me see my doctor. I then asked for my medical records and he said I had to pay $25. I said ok fine. I waited for 30 more minutes and no medical records. I then said never mind. I was told by office staff that I could request them from new doctor free of charge I said ok and left. That was March of 2015. My new doctor has asked for my medical records and still have not received them. A few days ago I received a collection letter from them. I called my insurance and they said they never received medical records for them to finish processing the claim. I call the office and spoke with same office manager and he still refused to release medical records.

Office manager has no interpersonal skills whatsoever. He's rude, uninformed, and he just wants to get you off the phone. I've left over 5 messages to get my immunization records for nursing school and even went in person when I got no response. I was talked down to and I wasn't even able to explain myself or why I needed my records so desperately. Everyone at the office seems to be intimidated by him and miserable working there! Its unfortunate because the Dr.'s are very pleasant and thorough.
I found Dr. Sattar back in 2013 after I had been hospitalized. I saw several specialists with zero answers. Dr. Sattar was kind, patient, and extremely knowledgable. She helped me figure out what was going on and educated and empowered me not only with how to fix it, but to become healthier than I was before getting sick in the first place. I highly recommend her!
I was referred to Dr. Sattar via my insurance's directory of providers. Please update your information Dr, as apparently you are no longer taking my insurance. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right dr. and you came recommended. You seemed to be covered by my insurance--at least, on both your webpage and in my online directory (and when I called an agent at my insurance and asked for help with them, they also confirmed you were both in-network and taking new patients).
So tell me when I call the office this morning, (the day of my appointment) I'm told that you are no longer accepting new patients with my insurance. Ya'll couldn't have told me this when I made the appointment? It's not like I'm trying to see a doctor just for fun--I have medical issues that I need resolved, and have apparently wasted time thinking you would be a good fit.
Please, update your information, and get a new guy to answer the phones. The one doing so currently is less than pleasant.
Nice doctor but horrible office manager. Dr Sattar was great but my experience with the office manager was unlike anything I have ever experienced. The office tried to charge me $75 for the visit as opposed to my $25 copay. Not only was this printed clearly on my insurance card, but also I've been on this insurance over 5 years and never had this happen. The sweet girl at the front tried to charge us $75 at the end of the visit, but when I explained my insurance she sent me to the office manager. Long story short, I very politely told the office mgr that I would pay the $25 copay (like I always do at every other Dr on the BCBS plan) and that he should submit the bill to my insurance company. I told him I'd happily pay the difference if any knowing there wouldn't be any. I did not want to pay something, knowing I didn't owe it, then have to seek a refund from the Dr. After that conversation, the office manager told me not to come back and then pointed at the young girl up front and told her that he'd take it out her pay if this happened again b/c she should have charged me before the visit. Wow! That is very unprofessional and demeaning. I told the girl up front, now crying, that he cannot do that to her. It wouldn't surprise me if that office mgr had been illegally docking her pay.
Dr. Sattar is attentive and very thorough. The practice has a small town family feel. The staff is responsive, supportive and very nice. I'm glad my sister introduced us to Oakmont Wellness.
Waiting time is ridiculous. The Doctor's father is the office manager and he is rude and a jerk. I take my sister there and after 2 years we've only seen the doctor once. And we go regularly. And yes when I call I ask to see the doctor.
Dr. Sattar is the very definition of what a physician should be: attentive, compassionate, and up-to-date on the latest research. Her approach is first to determine the root cause, and then to resolve the problem or imbalance in a natural way.
Better than a regular doctor but was in a hurry to get onto next patient. Take time with your patients, listen to what they have to say. You may be surprised. Had a toe that's been infected and was not asked this time to see if it was better or worse. Took a mental health screening last appt. but no discussion on results this time. Doctors and practitioners need to take a more active role in their patients lives. UPDATE Jan 2020 Lowering my rating to 2 stars. Sick. Needed an appointment had to wait for next available. FYI: They dont have sick appointments. Morning of my apt, they rescheduled me for following week. Haha. I'm sick, dont worry it won't get worse by next week. Walked in to my rescheduled appointment and front office lady says I'll need to self pay because she can't find my insurance. She asked me if my insurance changed, I said no. I've been going there for years. What a complete waste of time with no apologies or effort to resolve problem. This place used to be decent when debra was here. Downhill after she left. Will be changing PCP. They are now minus one in the customer department but I doubt they care or read reviews.
I like the idea that they are "open minded" to integrating some holistic concepts when it comes to treating patients, however I'm turned off by all of the unnecessary testing that they ran on me...in the end there really wasn't a solution to my health issues, and insurance wouldn't cover half of the expenses of the tests soooooo yeah.
I went in today Debbie was no longer there I really hate to see her go she was awesome! Dr. Sattar is even more awesome! The front office staff does need training I have been a patient there since I've been in the DFW area. I drove in this morning quite early for my appointment set in the lobby for a long time over an hour then I went back and I was back there for 45 minutes waiting on the doctor. Let me add I was waiting on the new doctor not dr. Sattar or Debbie because she was gone I had to leave after being there for 2 hours and 15 minutes. This is ridiculous I request it to speak with Dr sattar I was not able to. I went to the other office where Dr sattar was and spoke with a gentleman he said he will let her know. Someone needs to contact me because I wasted my time and my gas driving all the way out there to not be seen
These guys are like a second family. There's the occasional irritation with getting timely prior authorisations and blah blah blah ('murican healthcare in general yay) but it's rare to find a practitioner who'll sit down, chat, and generally give a damn.
You'll find that here.
Sattar and the NP are also a teaching practitioners which is pretty cool.
I love this place. The Dr is the bomb. The assistants also reflect the professionalism and concern for each individual patient. I won't go anywhere else.
The service is extremely slow. I had to wait over 1 hour for a blood draw, which is excessive. Also In March I requested two referrals, and never received them. Additionally now I have tried to refill a medication that was prescribed to me, and the phone attendant told me it would have to wait until the end of the day since the nurse practitioner was busy with appointments. I will be finding a new doctor.
I absolutely love my PCP as well as all of the staff here. Dr. Sattar is a great doctor. She takes the time to fully explaine everything that she has to tell you. So glad I chose her as my primary care physician.
Been a patient for a year and my experience started out fine and got increasingly more frustrating a they became worse at communication, started trying to schedule unnecessary appointments, etc.
And my breaking point was today. I called CVS to follow up on why my prescription I'd asked about a few weeks ago still wasn't ready. They said they would try contacting the doctor again but they weren't getting a response and that there were no refills on this particular prescription (a medicine that I've taken since I was 19-I'm 25 now. This has always been handled and refilled by whoever is my GP at the time. With my previous two doctors this was never an issue).
I called Sattar's office to follow up and was told, "Oh, yeah. We require our patients to call in about their refills because of recent fraudulent requests."
1. What? So you just completely ignore a fax from the pharmacy of a patient? 2. How in the world am I supposed to know that that's a new "requirement" if there's no communication on this matter?
They then proceed to tell me that my meds won't be refilled because I have to have lab work done. I am supposed to have levels drawn every 6 months, mine were last done at the end of April. I can count. They're due to be done again at the end of October. Not now. Therefore not being a valid reason to deny refills.
I will be traveling across the country next week and at this point don't have time to pencil in unexpected labs and doctor's appointments with my new job. I explained that I will have lab work done mid to end October when I can set up the appointments with work. My pharmacy tried to communicate with them twice and no one ever so much as made an effort to tell my pharmacy or myself about any issue.
The next phone call I get from Sattar's office says that they won't refill the script and that it's "company policy" that I have lab work AND an appointment every three months. I repeat, I've been a patient here for a year and this is the first issue I've had with getting my medicine and the first I'm hearing about this brand new "policy" that was obviously never explained or enforced since medical professionals pretty uniformly agree that labs for this medication are to be done every 6 months.
They also asked me who's in charge of handling my prescriptions because I should talk to them. What? YOU GUYS ARE. FOR LIKE, THE LAST YEAR. Are you joking me?
Looking for a new doctor as of now. I don't appreciate being given the run around in general and especially not when it's concerning a medication I need to take so as to not be a danger to myself or others.
Oh! And to top it off, they also had recently prescribed me a medicine that interacts with a daily medication I take after I specifically asked about interactions.
Super cool.
Update: Upon going to get a lithium level done this morning (because they wouldn't fill my script even though I'm not due for a level until END of October and I'm trying to get stuff sorted to go on an out of town trip), they had also ordered 20+ unnecessary blood tests on top of it without consulting or informing me.
This office has also sent a script for the wrong form of medication TWICE now since Friday.
If you value consistency and quality in your healthcare then stay far away from here.
UPDATE!!! Although I still think the physicians are great, I have been scammed by the manager/billing "guy" out of almost $300.00!! (2 visits) They accept my insurance but asked if I pay full, upfront until my insurance pays them, then they would give me my money back. I have NEVER had a problem with my insurance so I agreed. When I haven't received my refunds, I called and they blamed my insurance, so I called my insurance and they told me they had it filed as fraudulent and they were just waiting for the manager to call back to fix the problem. When I told them to just call them back, they refused. They also refused to call me back, and ignored me every time after that! Someone emailed me from their office and told me to send in my records myself!! I can't, because I'm not the one who filed the claim!! All I did was ask them to fix the fraudulent paper work by making one phone call... they finally fixed it but at their own pace. Im still waiting on my money though. Fingers crossed!
Dr. Sattar and her staff are amazing!! They're dedicated to getting you feeling better!! They explain everything to you and never rush you!
Do not go there. The customer service is horrible. The ladies in the front office are rude and unprofessional! They claim that everyone has to pay $145 up front regardless if your copay is less. They stated BCBS isnt paying their clams. I called bcbs they said that was false. They attempted to call the dr office on 3 way and the ladies hung up on us and didnt answer again.
Ive called 3x they said they would call me back and im still waiting!
This office staff is the worst I have ever experienced. They are unwilling to assist patients when prior authorization is required and are constantly saying what they aren't going to do. When you ask to speak with someone else they refuse. The only reason I have continued as a patient is because Dr. Deb has been the only one who has been able to assist in getting me the correct blood work and properly diagnose me. Trust me, don't schedule appoints with then as the office experience will not be pleasant.
The best place to go to really find what's wrong with yourself. Instead of the normal get a few pills and go away treatment, Oakmount actually does genetic testing. They explain everything to you and work with a holistic approach. They discovered that my MTHR genes were nonfunctional mutants. Over 50% of our population has this problem. Your MTHR genes turns Folic Acid into Methylfolate which without you body has no Dopamine or Serotonin and badly affects your heart and blood vessels. Without Methylfolate your body turns obese and you get serious heart problems. 50% of our population, if you see a person overweight it's probably because of bad.MTHR Genes. The Pharmas rather give you pills as bandaids instead of treating the problem. Thanks to Oakmount I'm losing weight and feeling better.
THE STAFF IS CLUELESS AND NOT VERY FRIENDLY. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT ANYONE ELSE IS DOING. THERE IS NO INTERCOMMUNICATION AND THEY ACT AS IF THEY REALLY DON'T CARE. ALSO EVERY TIME YOU COME IN THEY WANT YOU HAVE TO HAVE MORE TESTS, AND EXPENSIVE ONES, TOO. WITHOUT EVER DISCUSSING WITH YOU WHY.
I always had a great experience here. Doctor is thorough and helped me make dietary changes that nobody else recommended and I was actually able to get my cholesterol down. Instead, other doctors just shove statins in my face and say I'll need to take them forever (I'm 26). She has a more holistic approach before turning to prescription drugs. Highly recommend.
Would not recommend the doctor or staff. This is a learning medical office so there are students here from UNT and other universities. This should actually be a great thing so students get the first hand experience with patients. However, the staff (doctor and RN included) do not have appropriate bedside manner or patient handling in my opinion so I think there is little value for students. This is not even the biggest problem with this office, the biggest issue is that they will tell you that lab fees either don't need to be paid or that they will work out the lab fees with the lab. I was told the latter but I have had other friends who were told they just should not pay the lab fees since those can't be reported on your credit. When I tried to work with the office to have them handle the lab fees, they rescinded and claimed that I needed to pay what I could and work it out with the lab.
