This would have been a better experience had it not been pouring the entire time. Who ever decided that this was a rain or shine activity obviously never walked through while it was raining. Staff could also vest some time and effort in making sure you could actually walk down a path. At one point there were people with children walking off the path right next to a small water pool and one of the children almost slipped down the hill into the water. I honestly would not waste my time or my money coming back here. I have to honestly say how disappointed I truly am.

A nice time to take look around. The nainbhousevwss decorated for Christmas. There was a craft fair with some nice things. It was rather crowded, though. If you wandered around on the grounds, it was a lot more private than in the main house.

*5/5 is for the gardens only, when i visited, the mansion was under construction. Also, I visited on a very very nice, sunny day. There are degenerates that have the audacity to leave their trash on the lawns, very infuriating...

A nice place to have a picnic and some relaxed time. A lot to walk if u want to c the whole place, it's a lot tiring to walk the whole session ... it's a mind calming feel when u live and work in NY ;)
Better carry water as few water dispensers don't work, and even if they do, it's not cold. Only one cafe in the park which is obviously priced on the higher side, so u know what to do.
Be sure to visit the Rose Garden and the house.

I love visiting this place and exploring the gardens and surrounding property. Unfortunately, the house is closed for much needed restorations, but that is also a good thing. I hadn't been in a couple of years, and they've added quite a few kinetic sculptures since I was last here. Some of them are very interesting.

Came for the day from Manhattan having visited other historic "Gold Coast" estates. The mansion was closed on the day I visited, but I came mainly for the grounds. It does not compare to the beauty of other sites like the Sands Point Preserve which charge a fraction of the admission fee. The grounds are mostly unremarkable and more or less have the character of a city park.
However- and this is a crucial point- it's a much more photogenic space than the sprawling estates on the shorline with their vast, panoramic views. Crucial because the pictures online oversell it. Here, everything your eye is drawn to will fit in the dimensions of a photograph, with the blandish peripheral elements cropped out. It looks amazing in pictures, and we did see photographers with couples taking wedding photos, which added to the Central Park vibes.
The high point was walking through the little walled flower garden which is indeed beautiful but also quite crowded on a sunny weekend day.
The cafe in the woods is parking lot-adjacent, not exactly the idyllic setting we'd hoped for. The website does not mention that high tea must be reserved days in advance, or that large areas would be roped off for a private event, etc. Or that the mansion would be *completely* closed, which is unforgivable. They were, however, quite persistent about following us around in golf carts to remind us, repeatedly, that they close at 5.
For a lot less than the cost of the rail fare + cab + admissions, you have way better options. If you're not local it's not worth the trip.

Spent the afternoon touring the lovely Westbury Gardens. Unfortunately the Westbury House was not open and we were not told till after we paid and we paid full price. Still it was worth seeing.

A beautiful old English style estate. The grounds and gardens are gorgeous, and really give a sense of the attention, love and caretaking that have gone into the place over time. The architecture, artwork and landscaping are top notch. Great spot for photographers both hobbyist and pro to spend a day.

Old Westbury Gardens is so very relaxing. Going through the gates onto the property I leave my stress behind. I enjoy every inch of green grass, colorful, fragrant flowers, and all the serenity that comes with it. I was given a membership to the garden 6 years ago, and have been buying a membership every year since.

What a bucolic setting! Flower gardens, fountains, a lake, an historic mansion and acres of woods. Spend the day in nature and tour the stately mansion with a guide. A memorable way to spend the day with family and friends!

Beautiful area. They do such a great job with events. Went here for the Rise of the Jack-o-lanterns. They did great job with everything. Hardly waiting around for too long. And once on the trail, it is just magnificent.

Beautiful home with extensive gardens. It was very nice that the tour through the home was optional but included in the price of entry and they were able to start it right after we walked in the door!

I must start with saying that it very sad how unprofessional, rude, dishonest and moody Ms. Kim Di Ciero is. Whenever calling to speak to her is as if you are disturbing her. My husband and I decided not to book with location due to how RUDE Ms. Kim is. When I asked was there someone else I can deal with or was there a supervisor Ms. Kim stated nope this is her department and that's it. The first conversation was combative due me inquiring about certain stipulations and general questions on the contract. When she would ask questions and I proceeded to answer she immediately began to speak over me and would say " Excuse me Excuse me. I am trying to talk." Whatever question was asked she would respond "Did you read the contract or no?" At this point I am at 9 weeks before my wedding reception. Speaking to Ms.Kim she stated and also on the contract that a $100.00 deposit is needed with a completed signed contracted to book the date. Second conversation was Today 6.27.17( 9 weeks from event) I called and Ms. Kim stated that payment was received. So in asking when can I pay the remainder of the balance she states today because I am at the 8 week mark of my event to where the balance is due. I stated to her that was never discussed when we spoke on 6.20.2017 and I read the contract to its entirety. After speaking with my husband and him listening to how rude Ms. Kim was on speakerphone we decided to not go with this location and told Ms. Kim we decided not to go with this location she stated "thank you" and hung up abruptly. At first we were willing to maneuver through the waves to get our photos done at this location but I will not continue to be spoken to rudely, being told otherwise than as per conversation.

Walked through rise of the Jack-o-lanterns. The artistry was spectacular. A bit crowded at 8:30 on a Friday, but I guess that is to be expected. The grounds look beautiful. Will definitely return to see in the spring.

During the summer they host movies on the great lawn. During halloween they host rise of the jack o' lanterns. During the winter they have a wonderful Christmas experience, where each room is decorated beautifully in period time christmas decor and in the sun room they provide free cookies and hot apple cider, and upstairs pictures with Santa.

One of Long Island s best and probably most well known gardens. This spot is great for wedding, engagement, maternity photography. I believe students get a discounted entry ticket if you show them ID.

A beautiful mansion surrounded by an equally beautiful garden. This is a great place to go when you feel the need to get away for a bit. You can walk around the mansion on your own but I highly suggest going with a tour guide who are all very knowledgeable. Behind the mansion is where you'll find the garden with a wide variety of flowers. There are plenty of places to sit, a path around a lake, picnic tables, and overall, just feel relaxed. Some days you can purchase flowers that they have from the garden so check the website for that and other events they might have.
