Oakland Circuit Court Review

There are people in each other's pockets in this courthouse. They consistently disregard the "best interest of the child" and Judge Valentine is a grave example.

You have prosecutors push for enhanced sentencing on a life long criminal. Only to give him a year in jail? On an original charge that could of giver him 4 to 8 yrs in prison? Really?

When I had Karen McDonald on my case, she was wonderful and held my ex accountable for not co-parenting. My new judge is Gant, and I ve had a horrible experience. Not only did her chambers lose paperwork but they accused me of not properly filing paperwork even though I had proof I completed and filed with court clerk. I was belittled, shut down and told I didn t know what I was talking about. Not to mention, the opposing party lawyer was lying on record and failing to send documents in timely manner. She also failed to serve me summons and once I told this court and chambers about it, they DID NOTHING. I remember voting Gant in office but wishfully regret giving her my vote. Long story short, now my ex lawyer is being sued by several of her clients for lying, failing to do paperwork, and falsifying documents. I warned the courts but they ignored me every time. Horrible experience in this courtroom. I m working with someone to file a grievance against this court room. Overall, the judge just has a poor attitude and very catty like a woman.

There is no county more corrupted in this state. The word "Justice" is defined differently here.

Helpful folks in here who genuinely seem to enjoy serving the community.

Judge Mary Brennan s court clerk is extremely rude and impatient. Same with Judge Denise Langford Morris s clerk. I don t know what their problems are but they definitely should not be working in a job that requires them to interact with others over the phone.

I couldn't show my proof of child couching going on..I was denied evidence to be in court..

This court is an absolute joke you can't go up there to have help filing a motion you can't call anybody without giving the ring around and told to send 17 people emails absolutely no help when you're on the defensive nothing but attitudes from staff members when I ask for help they say they know it's not right but it's the way it is absolutely disgusting I don't understand how the federal government funds this place

There is a big mistake done on Google by the Oakland county, MI government that they promote locations of any possible court instead of helping people to locate the Clerk's Office which is in this actual building. I couldn't find it in time because of this irresponsible attitude of the county government to the residents.

It's the end of freedom for a lot of people who come here except those persons filing for divorce

If your coming here for the first time I highly suggest you give yourself time to arrive on time. I plugged the address into my navigation and it took me to some weird residential area. About 20 minutes from where I was actually supposed to be. It was extremely frustrating and confusing to say the least. When you get there parking lot is gigantic and there are always a ton of cars parked. So be prepared to park far away and to walk to get to the doors. When you finally walk in the doors there a gentleman standing by them stating if you have a cellphone and your NOT an attorney go back to your car and put it away. No phones no audio recorders no camcorders no view recorders of any type allowed in the premises. You then go through the metal detectors and if all goes well you get to where you have to go. If your not sure where your going there is a details floor plan by elevators. You can also ask any of the staff by the metal detectors and they would be more then happy to direct you. The gentleman there are really polite friendly and most importantly helpful. Unfortunately I gave this place 2 stars.. because let's face it if you have to be here it's not for anything good or that you want to deal with.

The court is designed to take money from your pocket as much as possible to feed this machine.

I'm not sure what anyone's job actually is here because I was literally told "I don't know" as my final answer to a question I had. It was a simple question that I can imagine they get several times a week/even a day being it is a courthouse. I was transferred several times and given several different numbers to call. Every number I called told me that that was their job and they should know how to help me with the question. So now what? I don't know what to do when they are refusing to help and don't have anyone capable of helping me. Sad. I feel bad for people dealing with this department who have more serious issues to work out.

I was impressed how quickly and husske free I was able to obtain the certified copies of my kids birth certificates. In and out in less than 10 minutes,

Honestly I feel extremely let down by their justice system. I believe Chabot and McMillans heart are not in the right place for victims but they feel sorry for criminals. Such a let down.

Only got as far as the front door, I was driving a friend, and was going to go inside to wait. When I attempted to go through the security guard informed me that there were no cell phones allowed in the building... ok fine, I will just wait out here then. As I sat outside the door I watched at least 3 people put there phone in their purse or a brief case and pass through no problem. So I assumed for a minute that the security is just to lazy to stop anyone who doesn't have their phone out in the open. Wrong. 2 women one in a business suit and one in street cloths have gone through wile talking on there phones. So from sitting out side I can only conclude that the rule only applies to young men not in suits and minority's.

As a former Oakland County prosecutor, and now an attorney who practices in Oakland County often, I find this court to be very fair to my clients who follow my proactive program from day one.

Going to circuit court on a criminal case is a big deal, and it's easy to say you had a "bad experience". If approached the right way, there's a huge opportunity to really change the perception of your case. Your first impression from the (police reports, videos, facts, circumstances) may not read well, but it's what you do after the incident that really counts.
