My husband and I were very excited to try Oak, as we had read the good reviews the restaurant had received. We had reservations at 8:30 on a Saturday night and the entree I tried to order (1 of about 7 entrees on the menu) was already sold out. For some reason, and I take full responsibility for this, I ordered the chicken, which I never do at a nice restaurant. The chicken was very dry and unappealing, however my husband's lamb dish was fine. So, when the waiter came over to ask how our meal was, I was honest and said I didn't love the chicken, but thought the lamb was good, to which he replied "Well, eat his then.". and walked away!!! I was in shock, For such an expensive restaurant, the food should be spectacular and the service should at the very least be polite. The chicken was terrible, the lamb was ok and the side dish of potatoes was nothing special, we even joked they were like hash browns from a chain breakfast restaurant. For all the dining options we have in Dallas, please do not waste your money at Oak. It was almost like they received good press and decided they did not have to try anymore. Overall, ,not a good experience.

Oak is a hidden gem in the Dallas Design District. The food is always incredible.
The service is top notch. The best European bistros have nothing on Oak....Try it out once, & You will definitely return.

This was great! We came as part of a work dinner. I enjoyed the ambience and the staff was absolutely fantastic. However, they wood grill everything which doesnt work with some cuts of meat. For example, the ribeye wasnt butter basted or roasted in oil with an herb, but kver a flame, which give a charveoik taste but not a very good ribeye flavor: the fat melts away, and i presume into the fire. Still, delicious. Very expensive.

Enjoyed the dining experience at Oak. The entire staff does a great job of serving you while you are in their care. I really appreciate that! There food was very tasty... Less is more on the plate but you will leave satisfied.

Initially I was excited to try this restaurant, and the night started of nicely, the atmosphere is excellent and the cocktails were fantastic, but after the initial hype the rest of the experience was not great. The food itself is good, and unique however did not hit the same high bar that other restaurants in the area do, and was overall disappointing considering the price point. Service was okay, but wine ordered five minutes prior to the entree waa not delivered until 6 or 7 minutes after the food had reached the table. Not to say that our waiter wasnt working, which he was, he had too many tables and this left our service very spotty. Overall it was an okay meal, with okay service, good drinks leaving me to feel that I paid too much for what I considering the restaurants across the street

HICKORY GRILLED OYSTERS! New Chef once again but this time it is a wonderful change! Comforting, unique, and delicious was each dish s taste profile this Saturday evening! Amazing were their cocktails also! Beautiful is their updated interior! Friendly and warm was the service! Now, a trendy and a lively vibe instead of the once private club like setting is beginning to set in here! A lovely time we had!

Amazing atmosphere, drinks and food were also phenomenal. Wait staff was exceptional! My only complaint was that we order sushi and it never came. All else was perfect. We came from 2.5 hours away and will be back again

We dined here for my wife's birthday on valentine's day with another couple. The atmosphere was very nice. My disappointment stems from the portions. We took part in their four course menu that included wine pairings. It was $135 per person. The price, in and of itself was fine... or would have been had the portions been remotely reasonable. Before our dining experience even began our waiter begrudgingly seemed to warn us of the meager portions... he was right. First course was a single oyster. Second course was the smallest portion of spaghetti I've ever seen. My children eat more than that. The filet portion couldn't have been more than 3 oz? I feel as if we were scammed by taking part in their Valentine's "special." The food was at least 25-30% over priced... at least. We will not be dining at Oak again. Perhaps on a non-Valentine's night they don't take advantage of their customers in such a gross fashion, but if that's the case I'd be even more disappointed to hear that's how they operate.

Made a reservation well in advance. They made us wait 45min and still didn t have our table ready. We purchased drinks to give them the benefit of the doubt after dining in before and having a better experience when it was empty. The hostess and manager did nothing to get us seated more quickly and couldn t give us an answer as to when our table would be ready even after making a reservation. I would not recommend giving them your business when they can t even provide proper accommodations or services.

Just pathetic. $32 for three scallops that had no searing and both looked and tasted like they had been microwaved. Two diners at our table had thin gristle bound strips of pork brisket. A bread server circulated once during the entire time we were there offering tasteless bread selections that were cold. Cocktails were over iced so that each drink was about three short sips.

Decor is attractive and the menu interesting--and the price matches this. Wines start at $45, going as high as $1K. Background music was distracting because it was vocals and a little on the loud side--despite asking for the BGM to be lowered. Probably will look for a quieter venue for next special occasion or business dinner.

This place used to be good. Not anymore. We got seated 40 mins after our reservation - while others who came in later got seated before us. I asked the hostess why and she said that the tables where those folks were seated were for two people. 20 minutes later she proceeds to seat us at an identical table right next to the "2 topper".

Food was good but portions were tiny and tremendously overpriced. They also didn't have our first wine selection and the bottle we got was mediocre at best at an insane price.

Excellent food, the Chef and the entire staff were incredible from start to finish. They made a celebratory moment even more special. Thank you everyone at Oak Steak Seafood & Sushi for a wonderful evening!!!

Lovely setting, delicious food, and impeccable service. I enjoyed well seasoned pan seared halibut and roasted brussel sprouts. One of my dinner companions had a perfectly cooked, almost fork tender short rib. But the stars of the show were definitely the wait staff who seamlessly kept our water glasses filled and our table cleared after each course. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and a manager came to check on us and even took our dessert order. Can't say enough good things about our experience!

Great restaurant with beautiful decor and excellent service. Their specialty drinks are always really well done and the menu consistently has excellent options. Makes for a great romantic evening.

I went with my boyfriend last night and ot was really good. We got a variety - crab cake was really good. Brussel sprouts were my favorite. The mac and cheese wasnt as cheesy , i thought it was more cream than cheddar. It was my least favorite. The toffee pudding dessert was good but i didnt care too much for the tamarind. The branzino with curry was good. The wild flamingo cocktail was so fresh and perfect level of sweet for me. The cappuccino was really good. And i wish i knew how to make the butternut squash soup because wow its perfect in this cold weather. Everyone was so nice and friendly. I really enjoyed myself. Thank you for the wonderful meal. Would definitely go back.

We dined at Oak Dallas on a Saturday evening in late summer 2020 during the pandemic restrictions. The restaurant was a ghost town! But our table was very comfortable, our service was elegantly perfect, and the food was unique and delicious. Go here! They need the traffic and you will be exceedingly pleased with your meal. 5 STARS..

The atmosphere was excellent, quite and cozy. The hostess was ok but our sever wasn t very attentive, not for the price of the restaurant. Ignoring me, because I think he thought I wasn t the one who would be paying for our 310$ Mother s Day brunch for 3 people and a small child. ( we had 2 cocktails) Asking for the ladies drinks first, which I liked. But then never asking for mine. (Until after returning a second time) In addition my GF has a dairy allergy, and they forgot on every dish after she told them politely many times, they continued to bring her dish with dairy. Causing her to feel bad that we were waiting for her to eat. The 4 course brunch was $70 a person and was woefully lacking in substance. The salad for example was as big as two credit cards placed next to each other the long way. I kid you not. With basic ingredients like 1 strawberry, and 3 pieces of spinach. It was as if management was telling them, make the dishes as basic and lacking as possible and we ll get the trendiest of crowds ! That being said the main entree was very good, but small. Maybe a regular dinner would be better, but i would be very reluctant to ever go back and find out. For what we spent we each could have had a nice steak and drinks at a restaurant like Trulucks. Which I considered but thought we d try something new.

Believe all the recent one star reviews. This place has gone dramatically downhill. Our mother's day brunch was ruined due to staff walkouts. They had our waiter cooking, so unsurprisingly the food was very underwhelming. Service took well over two hours for a three course brunch.

I understand, these things can happen, but you have to take care of your guests. I was honestly shocked that they didn't offer a comp or discount of some kind. At least they apologized to my mom for "ruining her mother's day" as they passed me the over-two-hundred-dollar bill.

Believe me, you can find much better restaurants. Some right across the street.

Dinner Sat 3/14/2015. Food was quite good but not exceptional. Prices were high. Server attentive but a but unprofessional. I don't mind paying the big bucks for a really good experience, but IMHO the prices are disproportionately high.
Cannot recommend it.

Came here for our Anniversary dinner and it was just lovely. The atmosphere is so much better than other more pricey steakhouses we've frequented in the past. The steak was reasonably priced and they even treated us to a dessert to split for the two of us. We appreciated all the care throughout the online booking, phone confirmation, and entire restaurant experience. Brussels Sprouts are a must!

We were so excited, but disappointed the moment we walked in...New Years Eve.....it shouldn't be disappointing,, these are the nights you remember...$400!!!! Which the price isn't the point, it's just the whole vibe!

I have never experienced a more unsafe restaurant environment. Mask ordinances are not being enforced, staff members are discourteous, and we have been sitting waiting on our reservation for 45 minutes. When we tried to assist the hostess in making a new reservation, she said that was unnecessary. Of the hundreds of restaurants I could have taken all of my friends for a nice dinner, we clearly made the wrong choice.

I always love coming here. Years later and it never disappoints. I agree it s a bit pricey but in this instance it s worth it. Updated: August 2020. Nice to see this place still standing against COVID. And, it s gotten even better!! Keep it up.

I would just like to point out that I have never eaten at this establishment but after a particular financial situation was handled I will never patronize them either. I booked online through open table for a dinner reservation for Valentine s Day on 01/27/2021. When I booked online they asked for your credit card information because if you cancel within 3 days of your reservation they will charge you as if you did indeed eat there. Which is something I never heard of but Valentine s Day was weeks away from when I booked. So I found a better restaurant to book with so I made a reservation with them for Valentine s Day and then CANCELED on the SAME DAY I booked on. Which was 01/27/2021. Once again Valentine s Day is weeks away I had nothing to worry about right? WRONG?! So on 02/02/21 I was charged 100$ from Oak Dallas on my debit card and which OVERDREW my account. I was infuriated. I called 8 times and I finally spoke to a manager and his name was Dave. He never gave me an explanation of why my card was charged only that he would speak to his CFO and he would handle it. I called the very next and spoke to the same manager named Dave. Regarding my refund and getting processed because they never called me back regarding my refund nor did they actually truly take accountability. I was just told I would get a refund and on this second day while speaking with Dave he told me his CFO would have to reach out to OpenTable to get a refund for me because it was their fault , more or less. So I actually called open table regarding this specific matter and OpenTable stated they had NOTHING to do with this matter and they wouldn t be the reason I was charged and no one from Oak Dallas reached out to them regarding this either. And it was the the restaurants responsibility. The reason why I am so angry about this situation is because of the fact that both parties are saying it s the other persons fault and I WAS THE ONE THAT WAS CHARGED AND MY ACCOUNT OVERDRAWN! Since then I haven t been spoken too by either party and now it is 02/10/2021. So I disputed the entire charge from the bank. I would never patronize this restaurant ever just because I felt they didn t take my matter seriously, nor my money and it was just like 100$ doesn t matter. I didn t feel the situation was handled correctly and they should do better with future situations like this one because I should ve NEVER been charged at all.

Went here for my birthday dinner and it didn't disappoint. Complimentary valet, unique menu and great ambiance made the night a success. The food was flavorful and prompt. Would definitely recommend for a date night or a nice quiet dinner with friends.

Even with Covid-19 going on, Oak Dallas gave me and my wife a great experience as first time guest. We tried a little of everything and enjoyed it all. The ambiance and the staff were truly hospitable. The waiter Forrest took care of us and he was fantastic.

Elegant establishment with excellent menu and service. We sampled the salmon, chicken, steak and giant prawn. Nothing but Paise for the presentation and taste. The cocktails were all done well with a wide variety of creative drinks

Had a lunch meeting here recently with a couple of people and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable (though he did rattle off the specials so fast that I needed him to repeat them). The food was wonderful.

The soup of the day was a broth-based vegetable soup. I had a cup, and immediately wanted a bowl. For my entree I devoured the ravioli with ricotta. Since I wasn't alone, I did stop short of licking my plate clean (though not by much). My dining companions and I shared a side of the brussels sprouts. After eating a few, my gluttony began to question why I was sharing.

If you go, get the roasted sprouts. Though I cannot imagine any of the food being less than wonderful.

This place was awesome. I ordered the caviar flight, steak with lobster and side of foie gras and my friend had some amazing whisky steak served on a plate that looked like a piece of log and it tasted amazing. Not to mention Fransico is the best seriously. He took very good care of my friends and I and it felt like family. Since I've found out about this place I have gone 2 times in the last month and I will be back this weekend. See ya soon

It was barely OK - it seems they are short staffed or going through a transition... nothing 'clicked.' The waitress was weak and uninterested; she never introduced herself. For as much as they promote the wine end of their business, it was lackluster. The stemware was the same for reds and whites and it was very basic - just a cheap looking wine glass. Our food was average, my wife's filet was overcooked and the oyster appetizer had great promise, but did not deliver.

From what I understand, they are working on 2-3 other concept restaurants. I think they have lost focus on Oak - it is not going to survive the competition; Dallas has a lot of well run restaurants at the same price point.

So I'm feeling sick, and all I want is soup. Closest a place to me? Oak.

Do not get their soup. It's called celery soup, but it might as well be called "melted butter". It might be good to put on bread.

This restaurant is a joke! My husband made a Valentine s Day reservation and after finding a better place, cancelled on the 21st of January. We received a $100 charge from Oak and when we called the restaurant, the manager refused to refund it. He said the charge was from OpenTable, which is a lie. The website clearly states any reservations cancelled within 7 days of the reservation date will receive a charge of $50 per person. We cancelled 24 days before and still got charged. Check your accounts and stay far far away from this place.

We went for New years Eve and had a 5 course meal which was probably one of the best meals I have ever had here in Dallas. I had a Kobe steak as my main course and that did not disappoint. Chef Nick did an amazing job.

This place deserves ZERO stars. We had a reservation for 9:15pm on NYE and waited over an hour to get seated because their system went down . After requesting to speak to a manager we were finally seated (no apology). The dinner was supposed to be a five course meal however we found it odd that over two hours we had gotten only one of the courses. When we asked what was going on they finally admitted they ran out of food. Again no apology and they did not offer to comp any of our drinks, despite ruining our NYE. Support a restaurant that actually cares about their patrons, this is not one of those places.

Good place for a business dinner or a date. Very cool interior, nice bar, nice dining room, nice hip menu that is updated and kept fresh. Have had the sea bass, the asparagus soup, the burger, the fries, the Cesar, and the grilled chicken. All are worth trying.

I had reservations here on New Years Eve and my husband and I both got sick the day after Christmas. On December 27th, I canceled our reservation and on January 1st was charged $200. The policy was to make sure you canceled 72 hours in advance or you may be charged $50 per person per reservation. I immediately called and left a message regarding canceling the reservation within the time they permitted. Was told that I would get a refund. It is now January 19th, 2021 and I still have yet to receive a refund that was suppose to be given 2 1/2 weeks ago. I have spoke to the restaurant 2 x stating that they would take care of it. Nothing and now can't get anyone to call me back. Just tried to call and leave another message and the VM is unable to take messages because it is full.

I shared a wonderful valentines dinner with my girlfriend here. While not an inexpensive meal, the food was beyond perfect, and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice evening and a superb experience. Perfect for special occasions!

The food and service are very inconsistent. I had my birthday dinner there and the food was okay but the service was great. I went there for restaurant week and cuisine was really good but the service was literally some of the worst I have had in Dallas. Poor service really detracts from a good meal and I think this is something the managers of Oak need to address.

Tried to cancel our reservation for dinner because I tested positive for Covid-19. They said if I don t show up, I will be charged $100.

I understand having a cancellation policy, but it s not like we re cancelling on a whim. We just don t want to make the staff and other patrons sick.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Phenomenal restaurant and experience each time we have gone. It has become our go to for special occasions. Unfortunately, the last time we went, we ordered the dessert to-go and to be placed with the leftovers in the to-go bag. When we got home, the food was not in the bag. Instead we only had the dessert.
When you pay nearly $300 for a meal on a special occasion, and have some duck and steak leftover, it s extremely disappointing to have this detail overlooked.
