Great experience with the restaurant. The staffs are super nice and professional. The managers checked on us multiple times throughout the time we were there.
We did a Dallas restaurant week menu. I was not a big fan of the chilled tomato soup. It was a little bit too garlicky to me. The tomato soup has small watermelon pieces in it and it was SOOO good.
The 60 day aged burger was delicious. There was so much food that I could not finish. The burger was surprisingly still good after being re-heated too.
A definite come back and my stamp of approval

Insala quarterly meeting at a table of 10 - great table, great ambiance. Had the excellent lamb which came with parsnip whip. Everyone else loved that whip - I didn't. Tried the duck, superb. Steak glaze was out of this world.
Service was exceptional - waiter really took his time chatting. No complaints on food or service at the table.
I was traveling from out of town on business, and decided to dine at Oak this evening. Such an amazing experience with exceptional customer service, beautiful atmosphere and one of the best meals I've eaten! All I can say is make sure to eat here! Oak provided us a relaxing evening after a busy work day with delicious food and attentive service! This will be a stop every time I am traveling here!
I left hungry!! Brussel sprouts were soaked in something sweet and deep fried and fish had bad cooking oil aftertaste on top of not bring cooked throughly. The waiting time for the food was over 30 minutes.
Ambience is great! Drinks are really tasty. In terms of food, this restaurant is dying a slow death. Main course was bland, meats were thoroughly undercooked. Seafood was tasteless. The waiter was literally rushing us out the door. I have a feeling he knew he messed up, because after my first drink he brought complimentary champagne. I was a bit confused by that gesture because I was already pretty much done with my main. Anyways, I ll not be returning here. If you re reading this maybe check out Moxies Dallas, or Al Biernata s Oak lawn. Btw I don t know why sushi is added to thier restaurant name, there wasn t any sushi on the menu.
I'm really torn here. Honestly, I think it's that Oak seems like they maybe trying to hard. I'm teetering on a 3.5-4 stars, but I go with 4 because I'm a generally nice guy.
As far as the outside goes, the decor is fantastic-ish. We did not put the "complimentary" valet to use, because I don't like other people driving my car most of the time... it's a peeve. But that's whatever, no stars off for that.
The inside decor is very tailored for the design district crowd. It's not bad, it's just unique. The ONE thing that really brought it down for me was a giant projection screenshot of an Oak Tree that changes colors. I usually don't care about crap like that, but seriously? Ugh... when you use a projection screen for decor, you need a new designer!
Anyway, we were able to make a reservation (this place is popular!), and were greeted and seated with the utmost service. The waitress explained everything thoroughly and had good knowledge of everything on the menu, as well as the cocktail list.
We had a couple cocktails and the risotto appetizer. The scallop (1) was under cooked, the rice was still a bit crunchy, and the sauce just wasn't anything to write home about. Ok, so maybe the sous chef messed up, I'll let it slide.
The bread and butter were just bread and butter. Nothing special.
Then we had the Bass and the Lamb. The bass sat on a mess of stuff with a mess of sauce... just looked ugly. There was no real flavor, and nothing to bring out the natural flavors that bass has to offer.
The Lamb was exceptional. Loved it, but it wasn't quite worth the price. Maybe 5-10 less would've done it for me considering it looked like there was no effort put into it.
The dessert was ok. A blueberry muffin and a scoop of ice cream. I forget what it was called, but it looked decent.... unfortunately, that was probably the best part of the meal.
Food is art, people! If you're going to charge me $120 for it, make it worth my time! I want to be amazed at the art, then blown away by the flavors!
Despite all of this, we'll probably be back pretty soon. It's close, and there are more options. This was most likely an off night, and [judging from the food] the chef is still learning how to really wow people.
Absolutely wonderful experience every time we've been there. The food is excellent and in perfect portions. The drinks are amazing. The staff is attentive and friendly, and they are great about keeping your water glass full. We love eating there anytime we want to celebrate a special occasion.
Wow!! Fantastic dining experience! The staff was utmost attentive. And the food.... amazing! We had the short rib (which was butter knife tender) as well as the catch of the day and Brussel sprouts. The meal was superb!! We will be back!
The atmosphere was wonderful and warm. Such a wonderful experience, definitely come here to support you local restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious!
I have to admit that I probably built the experience up too much before I went because I had such an amazing experience 2 years ago. I haven't rated anything below 3 stars in a very long time! My friend and i decided we would check it out for restaurant week to break up the monotony of covid. When we got to the empty restaurant we were not allowed to change our table that was literally the worst table there right in front of entrance. All of the tables had been assigned to people that were not even there. The drinks were mediocre. The service was mediocre and slow. The food was super average. The salad was shabby. Thank God they cooked the steak at the right temperature, even though it took 1 hour and 37 minutes to get it. The mousse was rich in thickness and tasted like it had sat next to a few onions first. The service was so poorly executed that many times the host and the manager had to help buss the tables. Very very underwhelming.
Very nice dinner with an out-of-town business colleague visiting Dallas. Impressive cocktails & wine list; grilled oysters and octopus to start; fantastic duck special - four (or was it five?) courses of duck prepared different, creative ways...great evening!
This place is a must go! Amazing cocktails!! Awesome food! Sit at the bar and ask for Cindy. She made me this cocktail called the Fiery Gimlet and it s soooooo amazing. I am blown away. Get in here!
I went here for the Monday special deal on rose' and oysters. And every step of the way of my experience here was on point. The waitstaff was very informative and attentive. The food was expertly prepared and the drinks and water selection was magnificent. The decor was very comfortable and inviting. And a HUGE plus was the music selection and well as the volume was perfection. I could hold a conversation with my date and not shout! I will be going back for sure!
Made a reservation for 4 for a special occasion. We were walked past open seating on the Patio which we asked for and told was full. Past the main dining room with plenty of seating, which we asked for and told was full. Were led to a dimly lit freezing cold private room and sat next to a big 2 family tables with noisy children. I asked the Host if we could be moved to one of the other open areas because my wife was cold...he said all he could do was offer her a blanket. I told him we made reservations weeks ahead and if we weren't moved to a more suitable table we would need to leave...he said "sorry". So we left and spent our $1,500 dinner across the street at the Virgin Hotel, where we had a great time.
Food... is AMAZING. Super expensive, and to be honest, the waitstaff weren't wonderful. To be fair, my sister and I stumbled upon this place by accident on our way to a concert, and... let's just say we were UNDERDRESSED. Impeccable meal, just, could have been friendlier. Also, some of us don't drink wine with everything, so it might be a good idea to have soft drinks on tap.
This place is a true Dallas gem, hidden away in the fabulous design district. Beyond that, the staff makes you feel like a movie star from the moment you make a reservation to when you leave the beautiful establishment.
We will definitely be coming back for more dining, drinks and good times. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Dallas area or anyone visiting from out of town.
I was looking for an elegant location near the Design District to host some client dinners, and Oak was highly recommended. The day we we were one of the few guests, and the Somm was drinking at the bar. After reading some of the other reviews, I must have gotten them on a very bad day, because our waiter was pretentious, ignored us, and we got the feeling he wanted us out of there so he could close. The food was good but overpriced, and since we got the feeling we were being rushed out it we really didn't get to enjoy it. A beautiful space to go and have a drink at the bar, but if you want to impress clients I would go somewhere else.
I dined at Oak Dallas it was a nice place our table was very comfortable, our service was elegantly perfect, and the food was unique and delicious I was exceedingly pleased with my meal. deserve 5 stars
The atmosphere is really nice, but the rest of it fell a little short for us. The food was good, but the portions were very small for the price. Service was good until they got busy, then we were forgotten about. It's not a bad choice, I personally can just think of 10 other places I'd go for the money.
Had a great experience there last night with my date. This place is perfect for taking a formal to casual date to. This place wasn t even on my radar until Francesco who is the main host there spoke told me about it. From the moment we entered until the moment we left Francesco made us feel so at home! Josh also did an excellent job serving us at the table. The food was great as well and the menu made for a hard decision being that it was an amazing list of options. I had the tiger roll and onion rings. Amazing sushi! We will be back, and soon!
This first time experience at Oak was awful, me and my family have been waiting for over 30 minutes for are food and 30 minutes to get seated but the waiters and employees are very nice and finally got us some silverware and plates after arriving at 1:00 and now we are still at the restaurant without food at 2:30!!! Do not recommend this place 2 star for sure!!!
This was a simple date night with my boyfriend. We decided to invite another couple to join us so we could all try this restaurant for the first time especially since it was restaurant week. The restaurant was nice with great music although it was a bit loud. We were seated immediately but right in front of the door. They should change the location of this table. It took awhile for our server to greet us and provide water and take our drink order. I'm confused about the server with the bread basket. Was there a shortage on bread last night? I've been to Ocean Prine, Del Frisco Double Eagle, Eddie Vs and a few other places many times. They provide bread for the table and not a person serving you one piece. (that was a first...very odd) We all ordered the same main course which was the new york steak. 2 had it medium, 1 medium rare and the other medium well. When they served our meal they just placed it on the table in front of each of us and we just assumed we were getting the correct temperature steak. We didn't...after we took a bite or two of our steaks we realized three of ours were mixed up. I don't like sending things back because I don't want to take any chances. So we just swapped our steaks with each other. The steak was okay. The three potato wedges were great. We ordered brussel sprouts based on a review and the truffled mac & cheese. The BS was not good and my BF said the mac & cheese was not either. Our server was Carter and he was MIA for much of the evening. It was a struggle getting refills. It took a while to get our bill. I didn't realize they charge for refills on soft drinks so this explains the reason he wasn't just refilling our drinks...I guess. Again the other restaurants mentioned above have free refills. Also, our table was right next to the host desk. Anytime someome from our table stood up for the restroom the host would make sure to tell us to put on our mask. However, there was some man talking with the host and several other employees walking around with no mask on nor was the man's little daughter who was walking around the restaurant wearing a mask. I guess he and his daughter signed up for the trial vaccine somewhere and we were not made aware they didn't need to wear a mask. All in all the evening wasn't great but it wasn't horrible because we got to spend time with our other couple friend. It just may have been an off night for the restaurant...it happens!
Honestly, some of the best food I have ever had. The filet mignon melted like butter. The wait staff was the kindest I've ever encountered. The risotto could be a meal in itself it was so good. Wonderful.
Really bad service. Made a reservation a week in advance for 730pm. Didnt get seated until 830pm, in the "private dining" section which was obviously being used for overflow. Ordered a steak medium rare and it came well done. Really disappointed. Wouldnt recommend to anyone. Stay away if you want to have a good experience and a good meal.
I was extremely unhappy with Oak and will not return. A bucket catching leaking water at the entrance. Urine in the toilets in the lady s bathroom. No silverware provided. No napkins given. No social distancing with their tables. Oh and the food was mediocre. Please don t waste your time or money.
Wish I could give zero stars. Made a reservation for 10:30 pm on NYE and there was supposed to a five course meal. However, by the time it was 12:30 am we had only received the first course and it was a single oyster. The waiter brushed off the atrocious waiting time and minimized the scale of the situation. Considering on NYE there was a $90 minimum per person and we had to wait over 2 hours for a single course WITH a reservation is insane. Not to mention the fact that they didn t even offer complimentary wine for all that went wrong that night and the food was just mediocre.
Truly the worst dining experience we I ve ever had. Apologies for going long here but there are so many details to this that it has to be mentioned
We waited 2 hours for our main course until we finally asked the wait staff what was going on. First, we were told we had more people here ordering restaurant week than expected . Then we were told that they had a computer glitch . Both of of which do not make any sense as to why the food was MIA. This was a Saturday night with the restaurant at average capacity considering COVID so those excuses don t check out. Tables who sat after us got their food, ate, and left before we saw our food.
To try and make up for it, they gave us a bottle of champagne on the house. However, upon further inspection this was a bottle I could have easily picked up from the store for about $8. Our table was easily going to have a ticket nearing $400, and that s how they make it right?
When we finally get our main course, quality was sub par. I ordered a Wagyu filet and I honestly couldn t tell a difference with a normal filet. The sides and starters were not very noteworthy. Amazed this was served at a fine dining restaurant.
Of course, we expecting a lot of our bill comped given all of these problems. When we finally received our check, they had taken off a total of about $15....off of a check of $400. You cannot charge people those prices when we are paying for top quality and service. We immediately sent the check back. The manager then sent us a new check with about half of our bill comped, which I figured was acceptable.
This restaurant needs an honest review of customer service and food quality. If they can t get these figured out, they need to close this establishment.
Wonderful spot. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and, if available, squash and pumpkin soup. The mac and cheese could use a little extra something, but otherwise very nice.
I just stopped in for a drink and an appetizer. The bartender and staff were absolutely delightful. The Cactus margarita was to die for and the risotto was amazing. I'll go back.
I was underestimating this place! Will be back for sure!!! Great food! Different, not an ordinary dish and it was all fresh material. We had salmon, Branzino, grilled asparagus and beets.
Myself and my girlfriends went there for dinner last night and all of us who ate the oysters have food poisoning! We told the waiter they tasted terrible, and sent them back because they were bad, his response was I went and shucked one in the back and they were fine. Would NOT recommend this place. I only Gave 2 stars because the wine was good.
This place was amazing. All of the staff did their job very well and made the experience go very smooth. My boyfriend and I ordered the flight of steaks and absolutely loved it. I ve never had a better steak dinner anywhere before.
The ambiance is very pleasant. The service outstanding. Cocktails are very good. Food: disappointing - tuna ceviche: good, but not enough to eat - 'steak tartare' was a total fail: not authentic, not well seasoned, not well plated (see the photos) - pork: fantastic
A preferred spot for American food. cool location to meet with coworkers. prices are decent for the quality. feels like a cafe in phoenix that i enjoyed visiting.
The food and atmosphere were excellent but they were totally unprepared to handle our group of 15 even though we had made plans in advance and had spoken to the management prior to the dinner. They only had one waiter handle the entire group including serving (lot s-of)drinks, ordering, serving, cleaning the table, pouring water you name it. Other waiters/Mgmt were standing around? Dinner was at 8 and Finally got our food about 10:15. C mon man?
