My friend and I visited O Tahlo for lunch. This chic and cool restaurant is a pleasure to spend time in. Meat is the staple of this restaurant and it comes from the butcher s shop attached to the restaurant. We were served by a great waitress who knew her stuff inside out as well as made sure we felt looked after.
We each had the same dishes and, as you would expect, there was a lot of meat involved! To start, we plumped for Portuguese meat croquette with mint and chorizo mayonnaise, "Cevice Puro" with mashed sweet potato, seaweed and tiger milk and the Mexican foie gras with avocado, corn tortilla and tomato leaf. This was a great combination, and all went perfectly together.
The main courses to choose from made it a difficult decision. We selected three and these were the O Talho's beef tartare with horseradish mousse, chips and shot of vodka, the Korean top blade with rice & soya ball, sauteed vegetables and kimchi and a Tandoori lamb with chutney, naan bread and lentils. Great from the first mouthful to the last. The fact that the chef was able to produce high quality food from around the world shows a certain skill.
For dessert, the black chocolate cream with hazelnuts, mango, passion fruit and pineapple in textures was a great way to finish the meal. It rounded it all off and we left completely satisfied. The combination of flavours was finely balanced and tasted wonderful. Try it if you are nearby and you won t be disappointed.
