Due to quadruple bypass surgery we need to change booking but sadly this hotel won't let us extend beyond the deadline. My husband would not be able to travel just yet and when all of this was explained to a Lorraine Cunningham, I was told there wouldn't be any movement on deadline and to speak to Pigsback where we purchased voucher.
We are dismayed and shocked at the total lack of compassion or empathy for our situation. Quite coldly dealt with so where is the "Family-friendly" establishment they boast

Great hotel with friendly staff and a super golf course. The food is also to be commended with bar food available all day. This hotel also has a swimming pool and gym as well as the golf course which makes it a great choice for anyone looking an active holiday break. The local area also has very friendly people and plenty of bars to entertain yourself. Highly recommended

We couldn't recommend the Nuremore hotel highly enough, we had our wedding there recently and the venue and staff were absolutely perfect, we couldn't have asked for more. They made our day extra special and if you are thinking of having a stay or wedding there, book it now!

Nice scenic location. Lovely chilled out atmosphere, very relaxing. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Some areas could do with a bit of refurbishment, rooms lovely though. Breakfast was very good.

Rooms really need some renovation, there is smell of dump, the rest of hotel looks nice.
But, everything else was great.
Very professional and attentive staff, we had our dinner in restaurant, and food was stunning. We had different starters, mains, and deserts and everything was delicious. I was delighted with my seafood starter and main course, cooked to perfection,so tasty and no cream at all.Well done!!!

Lovely quiet secluded place with a great golf course, rooms are spacious,it also has a pool sauna steam room and gym, wifi ok, 2 minute drive to the nearest town carrickmacross which has lots of history and great paces to eat, we tried fiddlers in the town great friendly staff and a lovely place to dine, slight bit pricier than the norm but worth it as we really enjoyed the food.

Got here on Saturday 12th October 2019. On the drive up to the hotel all looked lovely. As the hotel is set in the middle of a golf course. I pulled up into the car park, looked at the hotel and was thinking what a very boring looking building. I walked in to the reception which was a little slow in responding to me being there. I said although I am early is it possible if the room is available. The lady behind the desk responded sorry the rooms are not available at the moment, but if you'd like to take a drink in the bar. I will let you know as soon as one becomes free. I said not a problem I will go for a walk around the grounds. The grounds of the hotel are very nice, as they over look the golf course and a lake. I walked about for about 45 minutes and decided to go back into the hotel. The receptionist said that my room was available and checked me in. The reception area of the hotel is quite large with lots of sofas and seats. To me it looked like a retirement home even with a slight musty smell. Even the corridor that led to the left had the similar musty smell. The lift was dark and dismal and lots of marks over it. Corridor leading to the room was nice, clean and tidy looking. Sadly my room was not although the room was a good size, but it was very tired. There was holes in the walls and marks all over the place. The shower head was mouldy so very off-putting the plug hole was full of hairs and scum. Furniture in the room with lots of marks chips very shabby looking even the glass on the bedside cabinet had a chip out of it. The curtains on the window had obviously been hanging that long that they were all discoloured and smell musty with cobwebs on them. The hotel has a leisure facility that has a swimming pool steam room sauna Jacuzzi pool and a gym. I decided to use this facility so popped down and signed in. Changing room is a good size clean and tidy. Steam room of a good size but missing a few ties here and there. Sauna of a good size, shower smelled very musty not nice and very slow. Jacuzzi of a good size sadly some of the jets were not working properly and damp mould on parts of the walls. Pool was a great size for a swim. Back to the room the bed was hard not to my liking. The pillow had black marks on it and the bed runner had a mark on it, I just hope it was red wine and not blood. I had dinner in the restaurant and this is where the hotel pulled itself back. The staff were fantastic and friendly knew all you needed to know about the food. The menu was fixed priced menu at 37 for 3 course meal. The food was fantastic I had a salmon starter a sweet pit pork for mains followed by panna cotta with shortbread. The hotel had live music in the bar that evening. The room was quiet at night-time which was good as it helped to get to sleep, I did get up a few times down to the hard bed. Breakfast in the morning was of a buffet style served in the restaurant you have a selection of cereal and pastries with a hot cooked breakfast as well. Overall food of a good high standard and very enjoyable. Staff friendly and informative, but let down with the tired daycore and maintenance issues.

My wife and our son stayed in the Nuremore for thr...

My wife and our son stayed in the Nuremore for three nights and booked the Executive Family Room expecting a luxurious experience and paid the standard full rate of 200,- per night.

Not everything is negative, of course, so let's start with the Pros.

Pros

Most importantly, my son had a great time; especially, he enjoyed the kids club, and the service and food in the restaurant are excellent for dinner. Nice pool as well (book well in advance, and you have no issues due to Covid-19 Protocol).

Cons

However, we encountered quite a few issues during our stay causing stress on holidays for the adults..

Unfortunately, the room is worn down and, for sure, does not meet the requirements of an executive room. Mainly because of:

1. Dirty coach and carpets, see photos attached. We were afraid to sit on it... Old furniture can be charming but not if not maintained well.

2. There was no WiFi and a lack of communication to solve this issue. After visiting the reception three times in a two-day time frame, it made me stressed as I needed to head down to the lobby every time I needed to send some emails for work, and I was able to speak to the General Manager on day two of our stay. Nice gentleman, but he only apologized, told me they are working on fixing the WiFi network in the near future as some rooms far away from the lobby have coverage issues, and did not offer any solution or compensation, only a cup of tea or coffee, which is a joke.

3. Inconsistency in the service levels of the staff. Most of the staff were great, but some including one lady at reception did not follow up on some basic requests. For example, get some yoghurt in the morning with breakfast on day two, to get some clean towels in the room as rooms are not being serviced due to Covid-19 Protocol. The same lady also checked us out and removed some items from our bill, which were placed on our room number in error, which can happen. When I kindly requested her to call a taxi, she told me she would but proceeded with checking out other guests in the meantime. After 30 minutes of waiting, I asked her if she called the taxi and asked me to wait... I told her no and that this was very rude. You finish with one customer before helping the next one. I ended up calling a taxi company myself, which resulted in an overall check out time of 1.5 hours... A nice touch when you are leaving.

The lack of communication when there is an issue to resolve, inconsistency in service level of staff, and the worn-down state of the "executive" room negatively affected our holiday experience, and we will not stay here again.

Fabulous grounds really well maintained, hotel is dated and badly needing a good cleaning, the rooms was comfortable but really old furnishings you can't revamp a room by just new bedding and carpet fyi! The reception staff lacked tactful use of customer service. As for people who has poor mobility you'd need a map to try find wheelchair access no signs to indicate how to gain access to main reception plenty of steps mind.

Staying in lots of different hotels for work I've had some terrible experiences in supposedly amazing 4star hotels but from the minute I checked in this was different. The difference here was the staff who made me feel welcome and tried to help in any way possible. It was a friendly atmosphere led by staff who seemed to enjoy their job.

I have stayed in this hotel many times and it is usually quite a pleasant and relaxed stay. This time around i found the reception staff to be a little unfriendly and wasn't feeling the atmosphere i have felt before.Im afraid i won't be staying here again which is a pity because the place holds fond memories for me as i liked it that much i had my wedding reception here.I would hope the place and general feeling about the hotel changes for future guests

Rooms were big, my headboard was loose and banged against wall if i moved in the bed. Toilet was blocked but fixed. Food could be improved, got soup before going golfing and it was just warm enough to have, friend came in after us and got soup and it was cold and when it came back out it was even colder. Dinner on 2nd night whatever sauce/herbs that was rubbed into the meat was very over powering due to the way it was cook (the chef that was with us told us thats what happened). Friendly night porters as were the servers during the day

Stayed here for a wedding. Very spacious and comfortable but overdue a revamp of decor. Staff more than helpful. Not a great selection of drinks at the bars - an average pub in Drogheda would have more variety. The main meal was ok and plenty of food with seconds offered. The finger food later in the night was fairly meagre though, not enough for the number of people there. Having said that the buffet breakfast was more than adequate.

Tried to book this hotel for 6 of us for Saturday 17th to Monday 19th of October.. 3 twin rooms on a golfdeal special @ 189e for 2 nights and 30e supplement per room for a Saturday night.
This is a special, advertised presently..
To avail of this offer you have to purchase voucher and then produce on arrival.. with covid restrictions the way they are I asked if I could book directly for this off.. give deposit as no one knows what position the lockdown restrictions will be in 3 weeks.
The voucher deal expires in 2 days and voucher validity expires beginning of December and is non refundable..
After explaining all this.. I then received another email saying.. Sorry but even after looking at your request.. the dates are now not available now..
But I emailed back with screenshots from various websites including their own direct booking site and all Dates on all sites were available...
Astonished at their complete lack of understanding in relation to covid restrictions and lockdown restrictions..
Sure for all everyone knows .. Monaghan itself might be back in lockdown.. hopefully not ..
Just baffled with their refusal and way they dealt with this situation..
Funny thing is by going directly to hotel..I'm cutting out the middle man ( golfdeals) who would obviously take a percentage .. some business management????

Very disappointing. While this is a lovely building in beautiful grounds inside it is poorly maintained. Very dated decor with worn out furnishings which are quite frankly dirty in some places. Expect more from a 4 star rating.

The Hotel is OK. Limited food option due to Covid. The rooms are not very clean, i don't belive that everything was clean after previous stay, as hospitality professional i never complain directly at the hotel but always leave the reviews. We had 2 rooms booked and believe it or not definately not a 4* standard also only had 4 tv channels from Triax Satelite they have in the rooms lol. Swimming pool OK, due to Covid all other amenities like sauna jacuzzi are closed. Service exceptional from John at the Bar. Beautifull surroundings of gardens, golf and lakes. Bit too far to town to walk.

This was for a weekend break, and we love country spa hotel breaks every once in a while.
The hotel was really good, slightly old worldly, but that to us just added to the charm.
We found the service excellent with a smile.
The swimming pool was big enough and the gym was good enough with plenty of friendly locals to help you.
Everything was clean and comfortable, and no problem for wealchair users.
The restaurant was fabulous and breakfast was roomy with plenty of sunlight in the room, and of course plenty of choice.
We had a lovely experience, and would return without doubt.

We had our wedding reception in the Nuremore on Saturday. We can't rate it highly enough. This as a venue was amazing and on the day the room looked so well.
Lorraine, Louisa, Anne, Chloe, Adam & all the staff were brilliant. They couldn't do enough for us and everything we asked for was done. The grounds and bridal suite are beautiful.
We had a fantastic day and would highly recommend this as a wedding venue to anyone. 10/10

There was a mix up at reception which they sorted out as I had email to prove my booking. The room was large, but despite the one radiator being on constantly, it was a tad cold. I think the draft from the window did nt help as the handle was broken and window not fully closed. The room decor very dated as is the hotel. However, the large bed was comfortable and clean. The bar food was tasty and generous. The staff polite . However, despite paying cash at the bar we were still charged for bar food on departure. We explained that we paid bar food but they walked for receipt. Somebody else charged food to our room by accident as they signed it under their own name. The receptionist apologised.
The breakfast was mediocre. As my husband said there was no love put in it !! Free Sunday newspapers were a nice touch.

We had a very enjoyable stay. The rooms feel tired the whole place needs a bit of a revamp a new look! The room was well appointed although the bed was a tad to hard for my liking you can't have everything. The grounds and setting for the hotel were beautiful and it felt so peaceful sitting out in the gardens. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The customer service was excellent!! The staff were a real credit to the hotel.

This is definitely not a 4 star hotel in my opinio...

This is definitely not a 4 star hotel in my opinion. Firstly the information coming from various staff members was inconsistent, I was lied to by Financial Controler, never a nice thing (he said they didn't take cards by phone, later i found out he didn't like me booking from gmail account instead of my work one). On arrival, after sending specific requirement re WIFI I was put in a room where tehre was no WIFI present. I asked to be moved. I was moved to another room and then within 10 minutes moved again as heating wasn't working. I visited the pool where water was really dirty and so was the water in "jacuzzi" which turned out to be bubbly water well and not the proper jacuzzi with many air holes. In a 4 star hotel I got a scruffy blanket and a non size matching sheet folded underneath instead of a duvet, it was warm in the room so i ditched the "used" looking blanket. Unfortunately the heating has been switched off at night so I woke up 2h before my alarm freezing cold so much that I had to leave room and spent 1.5h in breakfast room asking for hot coffee to warm me up.
Staff in this hotel is very nice and means well, but it's a really disappointing experience especially at the price we paid (mid January).
