Friendly staff, very attentive. Hotel clean, breakfast varied and very rich. I loved the type of meal that you can eat at any time. The only b-mol restaurant does not offer more elaborate menu.

Lovely hotel we stayed with our 4 year old and our dog and were able to leave her in the hotel when we went out for short visits. Definitely recommend
Amazing hotel
Great staff
Perfect location
Gorgeous room
Good location
Nice hotel. Not expensive and a bit on the route of the hop on hop or bus. Ideal. Good breakfast
Beautiful, well apointed accommodation in the heart of Edinburgh. Walking distance from most points of interest.
Quiet hotel with clean spacious rooms. I only sampled breakfast which was good with plenty of variety. Staff were friendly. It's about 15 minutes walk from the centre.
Why are you allowing people to park on the public pavement completely off the road? It's highly illegal
Very comfortable room and very well equipped. Very nice restaurant and especially bar at the top with a great decoration and comfort. The hotel is well located, not in the center so no noise but close enough to walk
Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room, bathroom and very comfortable bed. Great breakfast.
Not that big, therefore not busy at all. Very rich breakfast, nothing to complain about. Dinner in the restaurant was very tasty. Small gym, steam room and sauna, but wasn't that bad at all because it wasn't busy. For the rest, very friendly staff, definitely recommended.
The hotel is very clean the food is lovely and the staff are so helpful and friendly the room Is grand and the bed is good could not fault this hotel we will be back
Great hotel with super comfy beds, interconnecting rooms for families, pool, spa, restaurant & bar. Our family loved the stay.
There was an xbox for entertainment , a gym, swimming pool , music bar to relax and have fun
Amazing place friendly and helpful worker clean and nice food... Great time
Inexpensive hotel rooms. Centrally located. You can walk all over the city center.
As stated above, good staff, excellent food and very comfortable room.
The only grievances concern doors and wheelchair access. My wife uses a bariatic wheelchair which is fractionally wider than a normal one and we had difficulty at both main entrance and guest room. Also the room door had a small cill at the bottom that juts up just enough to make pushing a wheelchair through the door difficult. That said we still had a very good time.
Great location, you can actually see the Castle from the dinning room and not so far from the Arthur's seat. Great staff and excellent service.
Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff, clean room, great food, felt like home!
Excellent hotel
Unbeatable location. The rooms exquisitely decorated with super modern style, functional and with everything necessary for the stay. 100% recommendable
Room is not as new as shown in the photos. Queen size bed is combined from two single bed / mattress. No shower gel and shampoo were given after cleanup, and when I called reception, I was asked to go down and take on my own.
Very clean rooms and friendly staff . Well organised swimming pool with sauna and steam room. Location of the hotel makes it great place for a stop on a city viewing trip. Atmospheric bar is a excellent place for a drink after long day out, and food served in restaurant is made to a high standard.
One star less for the tight underground car park.
Very clean, comfortable rooms. Very friendly staff The only downside they have put us at 4 in a small room, double bed and a sofa bed. But we have slept as blessed. Well located
Very comfortable. Food in the restaurant was nice, breakfast excellent.
Nice walking distance to Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and more.
friendly staff, nice rooms, great breakfast buffet and good food in the pub!
Room deco was neatly thought. A nice reception. Close to the grassmarket area to hangout in the evening.
In the slightly more modern portion of the city center area sits Hotel Novotel of Edinburgh. Most attractions are within 15-30 minutes walk, with a Sainsbury Local market around the corner.
The view from the room towards the castle is spectacular, excellent location just a short walk from the center and the most popular restaurants. Hearty breakfast, spacious rooms and excellent housekeeping.
Great! Good value for money, well located, comfortable and delicious breakfast.
Leisure facilities were not available. Other than that very nice.
Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff, clean room, great food, felt like home!
We were there 3 nights ... and we liked it a lot.
Once, the bartender did not want to take an older 5-pound note in the evening. But outside everyone took him ... where should I know as a tourist which is old ??
Otherwise everything was very nice
Wonderful hotel, loved the pool! Room is a great size and the queen size bed is so comfy!
This was our first time staying in a Novotel Hotel but it had a 4 star rating, so I figured, "how bad could it be?"
It was bad!
This is not a 4 star hotel, more like a 2 star pushing to attain 3.
One thing we are learning is; just because you paid for it, does not mean you are going to get it!
The location
This is right on the Royal mile so you can't beat that. The hotel is within walking distance of most things in Edinburgh so you just can't fault the location.
Parking
There is precious little parking so be prepared to walk a few minutes from the NCP car park. Also even if you paid for the 24 hours parking, you may need to pay for parking elsewhere if someone takes your space.
Reception
The front desk staff were friendly enough but you can tell that they have been on this rodeo for a long time and the stress shows. Our room was not ready when we arrived at 3 but they did offer us another room.
Facilities
One of the reasons we booked this hotel was the indoor pool, however, during the pandemic, the pool was off limits; which is understandable. We were also told that the advertised breakfast was being replaced by a continental breakfast and that there would be no house keeping. At this point, one would think that we are firmly in "discount" territory. This was certainly not the package we paid for.
The room
We went up to the room and this is where despair set in!
Don't let the term "superior" fool you as there is nothing superior about the rooms! They are all the same size with the bathroom configuration being the differentiator. It was not clean, the carpet was worn out and there was just about enough space to swing a cat! There is also no air-conditioning so we had to open the window to get some fresh air. That's when we realized that this also meant putting up with all of the noise from the main road just outside. The reception did bring us a fan, but come on! This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel!
Other options
It was so bad that we marched to the next door Premier Inn to book ourselves in and would have done so if we thought there was any chance of us getting our money back from our 5 nights stay.
The thing is, the Premier Inn offers a similar size room with full breakfast at half the price of the Novotel in Edinburgh city centre.
In conclusion
So, do yourself a favour; do not stay at the Novotel Edinburgh city centre.
Book yourself into the next door Premier Inn.
It may not have "superior" in the room description but I guarantee you that it would be money better spent.
Nice home
Castle and grassmarket loan
Bus stop on hop off (red tour bus) nearby and bus to the airport.
Memorable weekend at the European Rugby finals. Nice comfortable hotel, reasonably priced and attentive staff. Hotel about 35 minute walk from Murrayfield but 10 minutes from Princes Street / Royal Mile.
Very nice hotel. Very clean. Front desk staff were all rude and unwelcoming
Hotel very well located, close to all sites of interest, clean, quiet and great kindness of the people who work in it. I will return without doubt.
Staff was absolutely brilliant, reception was great , in my native language , restaurant staff was friendly and very efficient, food was good.
Lovely place for a weekend away. Good walking distance from city centre.
Our family had an amazing time in Edinburgh and the Novotel was very well located. It was just a few blocks from the Grassmarket area and a picturesque walk up Victoria Street towards the Royal Mile. Our room was comfortable with plenty of storage space. The bathroom was modern and very clean. The pool was a nice perk but the jacuzzi was not working. We would definitely stay there again.
Really nice and clean, great food, though not much available when I arrived late.
Would say 3.5 stars.
Just back from a two night stay, booked at last min, was a nice hotel, great pool, parking, 8mins in the train to center (which is only 5mim walk from hotel).
Thought the room was little small with the kids in the sofa bed and a crib (so never used the crib), would try a suit next time.
Didn t think mush of the food, Very oily, maybe we just had a few bad meals. Service was great though, very friendly staff. Would defo go back.
Also took the dog, which they are cool with, although would be good if you could take the dog into the bar.
Very good hotel, breakfast and its people. Edinburgh is great
I had to cancel our trip in April because my wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer. We had scheduled a visit to the Edinburgh Tattoo for her 65th birthday. She passed away on July 27th. Unfortunately we did not see this coming and the full payment was not refundable even though we cancelled 4 months before the visit. . I made the conscious choice to pick a non-refundable rate and was prepared to live with it. They totally remedied the situation. I plan to visit Edinburgh in the next couple of years and will definitely stay at the Novotel.
Basic, clean and comfortable room. Lovely bar and great breakfast. All that at an excellent price. I would definitely stay there on my next trip to Edinburgh.
I've just had an excellent two night stay in this hotel, very professional friendly staff, I was surprised with how family friendly it was excellent rooms, good breakfast superb location defiantly recommend thanks
Very clean, lovely staff especially at breakfast, good selection for breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed it and our guest of the day upgrade!
I paid the full price, no pool, no buffet, Netflix TV not working. No possibility of complaint. Certainly there is covid, but its not up to the customer to pay the costs.
Not at all worthy of a 4 star hotel or of the ACCOR group.
The rooms are spacious with a very modern interior design. Great breakfast options. Very convenient location with the grassmarkets and Royal Mile within easy walking distance, without being in the tourist-focused streets.
Excellent staff great live music in the bar and good views of the castle
The hotel is located a walking distance from the old town. It's has everything you need during the stay, even a sauna, swimming pool, etc...The restaurant is great and food delicious! The room service works perfectly and the staff is helpful and very friendly.
The rooms are super clean, big and well equipped.
I've been very happy during my stay!
Made guest of the day. Room upgraded, free breakfast in bed and use of fitness room + 25% off food and drink.
Very comfortable. WiFi works great. Charging points beside the bed. Friendly staff. Modern decor. All the facilities you'd expect.
I spent 6 nights. I was in a medical meeting at the EICC. I rate Hotel services as very good and the staff very attentive.
The hotel is gracious, the receptionists (Portuguese) are great. The location is very good, it is less than 500 meters from the best sights and restaurants. The hotel has a pool which is super relaxing and the breakfast is very good.
Odd use of stones in basins in downstairs bathrooms. Great location for hotel , great room with separate WC, shower & bath...I had to ask for extra decaf coffee and milk though- none provided. Great veggie breakfast- beautifully cooked as a separate order. Fownsides- arrangements for leisure centre are idiotic- 1 leisure pass then your locked out. More than 2 people in changing area it's packed- no room or privacy to change. Reception don't advise lockers need a coin to work and there's no pin for locker key when your swimming!!! The hot tub was foaming up with too high chemicals- made your eyes sting- I reported this but all they said was it's checked hourly- clearly not proactive to issues!!! The sauna takes 15 mins to hear up and never got hot- so its useless, sauna was fine.Rooms and hotel generally clean and modern. Lifts are not reliable and very slow. Odd use of stones in leisure area bathrooms- is that hygienic? I had a vacuum cleaner left outside my room for 4-5hrs- bit careless when not in use.
The staff are great! Helpful and pleasant - all that I encountered fit this bill. However the standard of the hotel is not satisfactory. We were in room 506 and once the shower ran the room developed an appalling lasting smell. It literally made me gag. Fortunately we changed rooms to 509. Fine. But the following issues were evident: 1. The plumbing gurgled loudly all night whenever someone in a higher room ran the sink taps or took a shower. 2. The people above were very noisy (not the hotel's fault so not attributing this to my dissatisfaction), 3. The bath plug was broken meaning my son couldn't have his normal bedtime bath, 4. Other fixtures and fittings literally fell off (like the towel rail bracket and the plug in the shower!).
Different things are important to people. I emailed the hotel THREE times about having a travel cot and received no response. In the end I had to call. It was dealt with. So no harm, no foul. But a little responsiveness is appreciated.
I'm not in the habit of posting negative reviews on public sites so I won't - it's not fair. Hopefully you take the time to acknowledge my concerns.
Excellent stay. Clean comfortable rooms, friendly staff and good breakfast!
The price is reasonable and the room is neat.
Ideal for business trips on business
Always have a lovely stay, the staff are always happy to help and are very friendly.
Fabulous hotel with pool and bar. Fantatsic location no more than 5mins walk to Edinburgh Castle and 10mins to the Xmas markets. Lovely food and big rooms. Decent prices even around Xmas and New year
Comfortable hotel, with very friendly staff. A nice experience.
We stayed here as a family in December 2011 It's an amazing place Clean quite and professionally up kept I wish I go again to Edinburgh to stay there again ZAK
Hotel well located at the foot of the castle of Edinburgh. Nice staff and available. The pool is small but allows you to relax after a day of sightseeing. Good restaurant with warm welcome; Hearty and varied breakfast. Only downside the family room for 4 which is a normal room with the sofa unfolded: with 2 teenagers feel really cramped but the value for money is interesting
Hotel ideally located in Edinburgh! Good address to remember.
