6th floor is where you want to be. Any other room avoid. The aircon is weaker than a new born baby sneeze. TV is tiny. Swimming pool is tiny. Breakfast is bland but ok. Bed is stiff but ok. The gym? What gym? No weights above 10kg.

We had a lovely stay here. We were greet when we first arrive and told we'd been up graded to guest of the day which meant we had an upgrade, a free welcome drink each, free breakfast and parking, late check out and some amazing chocolates left in our room with a card. Even without this the hotel is lovely, the beds comfortable, showers are great. There is a swimming pool which we didn't use as we had no costumes but look lovely. The bar there was very quirky. It is in a great location for central Edinburgh for sightseeing etc.

Excellent stay of 3 nights in this hotel-reception at the reception very cordial, and particular mention to Patricia for its amiability and information about what there is to visit during our stay. Our room, with view on the castle was spacious and very clean, although the layout of the bathroom surprised us.But nothing to blame on his equipment. Finally nothing to blame the breakfast, which was very varied, well stocked. Finally, once again, congratulations to the Breackfast team, for the quality of its service and friendliness

Excellent value for money. 5 minutes walk from grass market and downtown. Swimming pool with hydromassage, spacious, clean rooms with coffee machine, tea kettle, hairdryer and fridge. Bar with pleasant vintage atmosphere, possibility to dine. Efficient and friendly staff. In the case of a new trip to Edinburgh I will still book there.

Tiny room with no fan or air conditioning in summer made our stay there awful. Don't go anywhere in Edinburgh or Glasgow in the summer unless unless you like to sweat.Even the restaurants were hot!

Another excellent stay at this hotel. As always the staff were very friendly and approachable at al times. Only downside was the renovation work being carried out. Drilling and hammering carried on till 6pm most weekdays, so could be hard to relax in your room after a day sightseeing. I appreciate the work has to be done so it wouldn't stop me from visiting this excellent hotel again and again.

Parking was available on premises, but they were having issues with the door the day we arrived. Check in process extremely easy. The next morning we missed the breakfast time but they were very happy to recommend a nearby cafe that was excellent. Staff always extremely friendly and great with the kids.

Nice and friendly staff. We had our room on the top floor. The first thing noticed, on first entering, that the curtains were closed and the room was very warm and stuffy. When I opened the curtains and curtains I immediately saw the window sill It was obviously broken in open windows. So we turned on the air conditioning ... and nothing happened - makes noise but does not cool. So windows open as far as it went. Well thank God it was in The 3 days of our stay not warm otherwise we would not have loved it. Housekeeping was conditionally okay. It bothered me that in the toilet area the floor was not cleaned despite the need. Plusspunkt was definitely, that the hotel was centrally located to the sights on foot to reach.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. The staff were very attentive to our needs and provided an excellent service. The manager Daniel Hajas quickly and satisfactorily sorted out a room complication and ensured we were superbly looked after. The rooms were very clean and facilities were excellent. We enjoyed the room shower and the swimming pool. All our needs were catered for.
Breakfast was excellent with a wealth of choice which was replenished regularly. Food was freshly cooked and served hot.
We would recommend the Novotel Edinburgh Centre and look forward to staying there again soon.

Had a very very bad experience overall ... The Air Conditioner was not working in the first room that we checked in into & after changing the room on the second day the air conditioner in my second room too broke down. Adding to that the reception offered just one solution - a fan! Now with two kids & total 4 people in a room we are expected to sweat the whole night ... This is truly a pathetic experience!
The newly renovated rooms are as impractical as they come ... They are definitely not family friendly given that the bathroom has translucent glass on all sides!!!
My advice to anyone looking at this hotel ... You'll find way better hotels & options ... Don't stay here!

Nice hotel! The staff are very friendly, hotel is clean and is located in the perfect spot. The restaurant/bar has great food at decent prices too. I would have given this hotel 5 stars but the temperature was a bit much. There is NO air conditioning AND you can t open a window for fresh air. If management can sort that out, 5 stars for sure !

Staff/waiters don't listen to the customer. I ordered food from the bar in the lobby. It took the staff member 45 minutes to put through my order for tomato pasta. At this point the bar and restaurant area only had 3 customers and I was one of them. the tomato pasta finally came out after an hour and it was cold. I asked several times during this order how long will this order be as it's for a 2 year old toddler. I didn't get no time on how long it will be. It takes roughly 10 minutes to make pasta.

Also when it came to check out my room was charged for food orders that I did not even order. When I asked for the reciept for these transactions the staff at reception could not find it and it took them 30mins to find out why I was charged.

As a service industry my experience was appalling

Got upgraded to a better room at no extra cost as other rooms weren't ready. The staff are friendly and helpful. Housekeeping left a bag of rubbish behind in our room for some reason. The window got stuck open when we opened it, but managed to close it by lifting it into the frame again. The restaurant serves great food, but is a little bit on the expensive side (I recommend the salmon starter). The bed is super comfy with unusual double pillows. Swimming pool is okay, jacuzzi is great, sauna too cold, stream room too hot. The heating in the rooms was fiddly to get to the right temperature. One of the reading lights on the bed didn't work. Some channels on the TV (such as Sky 1) was there but didn't show anything. Despite the little things, overall it was a great stay and I would visit again.

Careful staff. Who even tries to speak French! Available and competent. The room is just perfect. Clean, quiet, very well heated. Meal level, whether for a snack or for the evening meal there again nothing to complain about. Great welcome, fresh products well prepared, we are far from stereotypes about the cuisine of the United Kingdom in general. Do not hesitate if you are going to Edinburgh get off at the novotel center. We loved it and will be back.

Great staff. Efficient and really welcoming. No matter what or when you want something everyone is very welcoming and tries even To speak french. The room is just great. Tidy calm and very well heated. Do not hesitate To stay here! This is what by Will do for another 4 nights and we Feel lucky To be here.

First trip to Edinburgh and this hotel was excellent. Really central location; staff were friendly and helpful.

Trip was for a birthday and the staff had decorated the room and bought a card.

Will definitely stay here again and more likely to stay with Novotel in other cities too.

I had booked a two night stay in this hotel for wed 03rd Jan for my wife and I as a surprise Christmas Present. I had carefully done lots of research on the trip and the hotel reviews were excellent and we were looking forward to it immensely. We both love Edinburgh. Unfortunately, my wife took very sick with the flu and we were unable to travel. I was told by the travel broker when cancelling that if we produced a medical letter the hotel may change our dates. Unfortunately, they are very strict with their cancellation policy and showed no sympathy and would not allow us to rebook or even refund us one penny despite the unfortunate circumstances. Even EasyJet who have a similar policy gave us a voucher to rebook. We had been so looking forward to the trip as it is a rare event we get time away from the kids. I would urge caution when booking as the hotel will not forgive unforeseen circumstances!! Not great customer care really!

Overall a very enjoyable stay with a very comfortable room. Breakfast was very good although a little crowded at times.

On small point which you could address - my wife is in a wheelchair so cannot use the rotating entrance door. But the other 2 'single' doors are not power operated so I when we got to the hotel, each time I had to go inside and manually open one of the other doors so she could enter. Perhaps you should consider making one of those doors power operated with a wheelchair button on both the outside and inside.

Good standard of room, a nice touch getting some chocolates for our anniversary! Breakfast was also good but very busy. Only minor complaints, 1 towel to do 2 guests all weekend and bright purple lipstick on both coffee mugs, expect better service from Novotel! All in though a great weekend.

Novotel is supposedly a trusted luxury hotel one can rely on to have a clean, comfortable and enjoyable stay. I'm pleased to say this is exactly what you can expect from this Novotel. The hotel looks luxurious and is well maintained. The welcome is warm and friendly. The rooms are the perfect place to be on a cold Edinburgh night and the beds are supremely comfortable. This Novotel is an exemplar of the standards all Novotels should maintain. A trustworthy hotel deserving of its trusted brand name.

I definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

The hotel is very good, the room is very nice and big and the people are very cordial.
Many of those who work in the hotel are Spanish and Italian, which gives the place a very warm feel. has a pool. A very nice bar and above all the breakfast is excellent.

We had a lovely experience on our 1 day stay. We got upgraded to guest of the day which was amazing. We got free breakfast, late checkout at 3pm, welcome drinks, money off in the restraunt and upgraded to an executive room. Lovely room with a castle view, all the facilities you would need with a lovely shower. We got a lovely welcome to Edinburgh card off the staff and some lovely treats when we arrived in the room. The carpark is a pain spaces are tiny and it costs a fortune to park. Lovely pool area and gym. Breakfast was amazing and check in and out was quick. I can see why the hotel doesn't get 5 stars though with a broken table lamp, part of the table not being secured, a stain in the carpet and leak from the shower which has damaged the wall and hasn't been repaired. However I would return again.

Great hotel. Nice sized room, but so few socket points (even the room's electrical items on the desk can't be plugged in at the same time). Quality of room service food is good too. Gym only has cardio equipment, not even a dumbbell tree to allow resistance training.

I regret booking this place. My encounter with stuff has shown that they can do basic friendly things, like smile at the reception, but feel totally uncountable for any problems they cause and really are not very professional.
To avoid writing long boring naggong story. Hammam machine is grey with mold, which sort of illustraties the whole idea- nominally there, but really cannot care less.

Close to the city center, the castle and the West End-Princes Street tram station which comes directly from the airport. About 25 minutes walk to the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Pool and gym for relaxation
Reception and room level as usual

Ok hotel but note that they do NOT have air conditioning. Pretty hot at night despite low outside temperatures.
Friendly staff but a bit messy impression.
Walking distance to downtown and attractions. Lovely wellness area with pool, jacuzzi, steam and communal sauna. Delicious breakfast

Newly renovated room. Nicely done and a great location. Major disappointment was the breakfast. The first two mornings where good and the Australian girl managing the room was very attentive and helpful. Monday morning was very poor. Lots of missing food items. Had to make your own tea and coffee. Never had to do this before in a novotel. Not enough staff on to clear tables and assist people. Strange as you would expect the hotel to know when there busy times are when you have your parties leaving at certain times. But overall a good stay. Great running spot in the meadows park just down from the hotel.
