Very clean and modern hotel, very close to the grass market.
Upon arrival me and my partner had been chosen as Guest Of The Day! This included a room upgrade to an executive suite, free breakfast and other extras. This was a birthday present for my partner so she was delighted with the upgrade. The staff were fantastic throughout our stay. No more so than General Manager Matt. I thanked him for the Guest Of The Day and explained we had come away for my partners birthday. This morning at breakfast the service host was outstanding and very welcoming. Our table had balloons on and a happy birthday message and card. Incredible hospitality. So good that I'm writing this whilst still at the breakfast table. Thank You. We will definitely be back!
There are missing towels in the room and bathroom products, although very kind if you ask ... improvable cleaning.
Small room for 3, Small space for breakfast.
Little storage space for a family
No organization or instructions when the fire alarm is triggered and evacuation at 5 a.m.
Excellent hotel, both room and food was.of a high standard, rooms at front of hotel noise due to the ambulances passing from the hospital opposite.
Have to say slight mix up with booking the rooms probably on the handler, but the staff , especially kosia (sorry for spelling)went above and beyond to sort us all out and save the day. Immaculate rooms, great breakfast and great location
Location was good and room ok but many small items just let down the experience. Key cards that took ages to work the door so two trips back to reception. Being left stood around whilst an alternative room was allocated to us. No bar staff available to serve us. Milk and coffee not restocked in the bathroom. Wouldn't stay here again.
Well what can i Say about Novotel Edinburgh Centre, well let me start from the beginning, because myself and my wife had early flights we arrived at the hotel at about 9 am, we weren't sure if our room was going to be ready this early so my wife took a seat in the foyer whilst I went to talk to the guys on reception, I was greeted by a very pleasant young man whom advised me the room was in fact ready and because this was a special occasion we had been given and up grade to an executive room, and that we could check in right away, I also asked if we could purchase breakfast and was told because we were already booked in breakfast was included, so myself and my wife took our bags to the room which I have to say had to have been the nicest room we seen in a hotel in a long time, very modern very clean and perfect for our few days stays, so after we settled in we went down for some breakfast which was a welcome meal after traveling since 4 am, the breakfast buffet was really nicely set out and many different options to choose from, I'm not going to bore you with what we did in Edinburgh, but arriving back after spending a few hours touring the town we came back to the room to find a bottle of Prosecco, card, book and a fruit platter waiting for us in the room yet another gesture from the hotel that made this stay out of this world, that night we went down for some dinner, the menu had some great items on it and I could have eaten it all the first night I went for the biggest burger they had and it didn't disappoint this thing was huge and so tasty I was surprised I finished the whole thing, even the drinks were on point I'm a lover of craft beers and IPA's and they had a really nice IPA on tap called goose IPA which i couldn't get enough of.
At night in our room we found it to be so quiet, normally in some hotels you can here doors banging or toilets flushing be we didn't have any of that the bed was really comfortable nice firm pillows made for a great nights sleep and the facility's in the room were great as well, all in all the 4 days we spent in the hotel were amazing the hotel was so clean the staff very pleasant and professional food and drink was out of this world. Not bad thing could be said about our stay, I'm now looking for other Novotel hotels to stay in and hope they live up to the same standards as Novotel Edinburgh Centre, A huge thank you from myself and my wife for making this and memorable stay.
very nice. very happy with the service and the attention of the staff, both reception, as the TOP Bar.
A nice place for a short stay in the hotel are tasty breakfasts good drinks pool and wet sauna and gym rooms as clean bed linen fresh daily.Comication to the center very good trams and trains on site. The service is fully polite and helpful. Minus for the cleanliness of the bathroom could be more looked after.
Fantastic! Excellent service, very clean, central and food very good, especially breakfast.
We stayed here for 3 nights over New Year, our room was clean and cosy. The staff were very friendly and the hotel itself is really good. But our only moan was our queen size bed, it gave us back ache due to the hard mattress but other than this a good hotel at a good price.
No AC, no pool towels and no parking, otherwise it's ok.
Nice location but the most disappointing point : During winter period, the hotel is too cold, the heat can t be warm.
Accessing to to the pull requires a key you need to ask the reception before which makes more complicated (long) the process. I also booked for business purpose and I had a room without desk. So couple of disappointing points showing a low cost service.
I would rank it 3 1/2 stars. Clean bathroom and the room is comfortable.
Breakfast is average. Same as most hotels provide.
I have no complaints about this hotel.
What a great stay, relaxing week away, and apart from the room next door always making that racket it was good, you should have gotten involved and told them to keep the noise down for the rest of us, but i'm too relaxed and refreshed to mark you down that much for that, would come again - but will be more cautious what you do about bad guests.
On the Novotel line. Overall stay very satisfactory traveling with children. Clean room, adequate catering services and in particular the Novotel Edinburgh Center highlight the kindness professed by the staff always waiting to assist and help us.
Poor service when we arrived (staff too busy talking to each other ). The "Family" room was tiny with an uncomfortable sofa bed for my kids. The toilet has no lock or sink, so you need to walk to the other side of the room to the shower room to wash your hands. The shower room also has no lock which can be awkward in a family room.
The shower flow is almost non existant.
The room is hot and stuffy as the aircon is not working.
The TV in the room is tiny and poor quality.
The Gym is the worst I've seen in a hotel, my gym at home is better. It's just a tick in the box to gain stars.
The pool is also poor. Just there to gain stars.
I will not stay here again.
Hotel ideally located in Edinburgh! Good address to remember.
Lovely service, helpful staff, well maintained room and great cocktails. Bar service for lunch was quick and the food good.
It's close to city centre and decent size of the to for the price you pay in Edinburgh. Also it has swimming pool and sauna too.
Unfortunately the whole time the fan in the room was very uncomfortable and could not be switched off. The same with the air conditioning. Otherwise the hotel is very central and you can walk to the center.
The staff were very welcoming and the bedrooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The Australian girl (mid New South Wales) in the bar was very friendly, helpful and cheerful. Breakfast was more than sufficient and well staffed.
Clean and smart rooms. Good restaurant and bar. Nice pool.
Wonderful, new, well located, attentive staff, breakfast buffet with attention to celiacs, swimming pool ...
Very clean and updated less than a month ago. So close to everything.
Good location, very close to downtown. Very comfortable room and very quiet area. Guaranteed rest.
Good breakfasts
Everything was great. The only thing i would have liked is classic cocktails at the bar. The wife and i wanted to knock back some long islands and margaritas. But the bar only had their own cocktails which wasn't great
Good hotel, good internet and convenient for the city centre. Clearly positions itself a bit upmarket and prices are relatively high. close to the city centre and that is a plus.
Amazing place to stay. Great reception with excellent service and the rooms were decent size too. Breakfast was excellent. Brilliant selection on food variety and tasty coffee in the morning. Paired with good service from the restaurant. Very personal and helpful from all waiting staff. Bar had an excellent range of whisky and gin selection. Bar tenders were friendly. Highly recommend the super cocktails. Great place to stay.
Excellent service, cleanliness and infrastructure. 100% recommended
Very smart, modern city centre hotel with good facilities. Only quibble is that you have to park a 10 minute walk away because they forgot to put an underground car park in when the building was constructed (there are a handful of spaces, but you won't get one). Breakfast buffet was considerable and well worth the price (pre-booked).
Excellent service, the room met expectations. Excellent breakfast and bar service. Highly recommend and hope to return !
Nice rooms. At a small distance from the grass market. Breakfast is spacious but very chaotic during the busiest period.
We had a two night stay booked, but unfortunately booked the nights incorrectly by one night. As it was a "no cancellation" booking we had paid for the hotel already. The hotel was fully booked for first night, and while the receptionist was sympathetic, she was trying to send us to an Ibis Hotel some half an hour's walk from the hotel.
Otherwise, we were left to our own devices to find accommodation for the night. We found at room at your "sister" hotel Mercure, which was much closer by and which we felt the receptionist could have found for us.
Fantastic location near castle and restaurants on Grassmarket, but building works on street nearby disturbed us in the morning, and disappointed that the pool was shut. Distancing and cleanliness excellent.
Upon arrival staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast buffet in the morning was fantastic! Not to be missed. Would definitely stay here again
Not far from the castle, friendly staff and great food
Another great experience at Novotel Edinburgh Centre! Love the refurbishment in the lobby, bar & restaurant. Looking forward to our next stay!
This is my 3rd time here and love the overall service from staff. Lovely hotel in great central location.
Great location within 2min walk of shops & restaurants, lovely room, great service and a pool.
The hotel as a whole is a classic Novotel, but the rooms and corridors are too old to be qualified as a 4-star, the standard rooms are unacceptable, the superior rooms are better, even if they are certainly not 4-star. Access to services wellness is a bit complicated. service staff ok.
Was a very good location and got a very good deal as part of a package for a long weekend. The rooms are adequate and slightly larger then I would expect in an English hotel. The bathroom situation with the toilet separate from the rest of the bathroom was a bit odd. Breakfast was good and worth getting. Bartender was very nice both nights we went down and very attentive. While it wasn't anything really special it was perfect for our trip needs.
This is regarding the bar only. Fantastic little oasis with a musical theme (tables are amps etc.). Also great to see a tablet based juke box (Android too!) Where customers can pick from a big selection from pop to Ace of Spades.
I stayed with work and enjoyed a great room and a great breakfast, not much else to say.
It looked nice we stayed in the hotel next door we may stop there next time we go to Edinburgh
Of the Novotel chain the least updated that I have been. Meets Novotel standards. The uninformed and collaborative staff except 2 people
For the rest well, breakfast well. The right Christmas dinner.
Great location fabulous rooms plenty of storage. Shower not very powerful & there was a funky smell coming from the shower & basin drains. No mirror at the desk but plenty of other mirrors around the room. I like the toilet being separated from the shower but there's no washing facilities in with the toilets. You have to come around to the shower room to wash your hands afterwards. Had a great view of part of the back of the castle. Hotel was quiet & the staff polite professional & helpful. Will definitely stay again if having a quiet stay in Edinburgh again.
Fantastic service from all staff, comfortable bed, a decent shower, and a great selection vat breakfast coupled with a central location make this hotel well worth a visit. Not the cheapest but definitely great value.
Impeccable service, helpful and friendly staff. Spacious and very clean rooms (an extra point for the most comfortable shower cabin ever found in a hotel). Breakfast service in pure English style to try (delicious!)
Lovely bar, good atmosphere and not too busy on a Friday night. Bar man had good conversation and the prices were reasonable for this part of Edinburgh.
A grand hotel, well located and central to Edinburgh, especially during August when the world famous military tattoo is happening.
. Reason for 4 star as was 2 adults and 2 kids and we were giving a room with a double and a single bed for 4 people. Also the receptionist on day time wasn't helpfully with this she said there was nothing else available. But later the male recepsionist was very helpful and gave us a suitable room. But apart from tht all other staff great and room was great once moved great location also
Smashing modern room. Nice spacious shower. But oddly small separate toilet. Friendly check on staff that made me chortle.
Lovely, helpful staff. Excellent room and facilities
Hotel staff in all departments were focused on customer services. Only area needed work was in changing area in spa . Still enjoyed stay and look forward to staying again soon.
Have to say slight mix up with booking the rooms probably on the handler, but the staff , especially kosia (sorry for spelling)went above and beyond to sort us all out and save the day. Immaculate rooms, great breakfast and great location
The location was great but the room was quite small the couch was uncomfertable and the shower and toilet were in diffrent rooms and you couldnt lock neither the pool was very dissapointing very small not much to do in it but the jacuzzi is nice. Breakfest is pretty good the waffles are very nice but some other meals arent great.
Very clean, new luxiourious rooms, close to the center but not in a noisy area, helpfull and polite staff
Visiting a friend staying in the hotel. Staff very accommodating of the kids making pests of them selves.
Good location.
Nice buffet breakfast.
Wider choice off food on bar menu would be better.
Mirror above dressing table would be helpful.
I ve given it three stars because it did not live up to my expectations, given that I had booked a deluxe room. There is a very tiny toilet closet next to the other half of the bathroom. Absurd, especially for people with mobility issues. I stayed for three nights and each morning the breakfast was very well prepared with many varieties of fruit, vegetables, and breakfast meat. The housekeeping was generally fine, except that they prepared the room for two people when only one was booked, and my efforts to return the room to one bed by dismantling the hide-a bed/sofa were changed by housekeeping staff. Dining in the hotel is expensive, so you might want to look elsewhere. Overall, I think this hotel is average.
Attended a dance class in the Novotel, nice hotel, friendly staff.
Good hotel comfy bed and plenty of self service breakfast
The hotel was my sister and my first stop on a 7 day tour. Excellent location to do some private exploring. The hotel is immaculate. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. However, if you're looking for a warm and comforting atmosphere, you will only find it in the lounge. The room was 'cold and austere', however, surgery could have been preformed there.
Lovely room, friendly staff. Breakfast disappointing, staff couldn't keep up with amount of people there. lots of things overcooked. They ran out of several things and wouldn't be refilled for ages.
beds not great, duvets rubbish. Our children were put in a double sofa bed with a single duvet in a double duvet sheet causing one of them being cold all night.
Fantastic hotel in the center of Edinburgh, very friendly staff (excellent I would say) and very young where many speak Spanish, the hotel with many services, gym pool. The room not very big but the sofa bed allowed my two girls to sleep with us in the room. The copious and varied breakfast. For me only one but for 100% that has been the size of the bathroom very small with a single sink and a small countertop that did not let my towels support. other than 10.
The lobby is really nice, and the rooms looks amazing.
However in our room it was too cold, the thermostat didn't really work and they gave us a heater instead, but it was still too cold. Seemed line it was a problem with our room alone.
