Small, but very pretty city zoo. Perfect for a pic...
Small, but very pretty city zoo. Perfect for a picknick on a sunny afternoon.
Small, but very pretty city zoo. Perfect for a picknick on a sunny afternoon.
Amsterdam may be ashamed of the eyes I think that many animals are in small cages and the monkeys are only on concrete and there are more to say ... I don't see them again
It's great that ARTIS is now innovating. Larger enclosures for the animals with more attention to well-being and natural behavior.
What a wonderful place! It was a beautiful day, the animals were obviously well cared for and in very natural habitats.
Many birds and beautiful plants. It is a beautiful park. A pity that the animals are in a small booth.
Small zoo in the middle of the city. Very relaxing that reminds me of a smaller Pairi Daiza. The animals look healthy and some are even free. I advise.
Beautiful animals (garden), many different animals in the middle of the city. Easy to reach by public transport. Lots of room for children to play.
Friendly staff.
In the middle of the city a pleasant atmosphere, but crowded as well as humans as well as animals.
Wonderful and immense, I would return another hundred times!
Much nicer than expected. Beautiful butterfly garden. Grandeur. Aquarium is also beautiful.
Parking space used to be around the corner with a friend.
Great ZOO with lots of space to have picnic or just chill. There is also Aquarium, Planetarium inside, and Micropia microb world just next to it.
Now adjust during corona, but artis has arranged it well. Please note that at some point you cannot go back to the entrance. Furthermore, the routes are well marked.
Zoo is well maintained, but often small pens for the animals.
Wonderful a fantastic zoo, a giant structure full of animals of all different types and with the perfect reconstruction of their natural environment. There is both the insectarium and the aquarium, and a room where butterflies fly free among people. Absolutely to visit
Simply fabulous! The Zoo is immaculately landscaped, we clearly feel the desire to maintain the Zoo. An effort could be made at the level of elephants (especially the one who constantly charges the front door) for them to have more space. The price of entry although high is largely justified, envisage a good half-day of visit and good shoes. The place is quite popular, take the tickets in advance on their site, it will save you 1H tail for "nothing".
I recommend without fail!
A cool zoo where all animals live in a close to natural habitat. Impressed with a butterfly pavilion
Nice animal park!
But the prices for the food are not normal.
Had to wait a very long time at the till.
We had:
3 burgers, 3 fries, 3 drinks for the price of 34.75.
I don't mind putting money down but it has to be tasty and fresh.
Some examples,
the bread was too hard to eat without cutlery.
2 knives dirty.
Soft fries and flat fries.
Small pieces of fries.
It was an ok experience. A bit small and not that many animal types to see, but it was great to see that the animals where "free" and not in visible cages all the time.
Have been coming here for years, top Zoo in the center.
Much to see many facilities
And yes what there is to see .
Just go
For once nice to have seen. Not for bigger children 10+
Nothing special and still quite pricey, especially if you also want to have lunch there. You only go here if you get free tickets or a big discount.
Super interesting museum for big and small. Unique in Europe.
Clean toilets, nice staff and shooting fans.
We learned a lot about the microbes on our skin as well as the viruses and bacteria.
Many hands-on stations so dassves not be king. The museum is kept dark.
Wide aisles individually People with strollers or restrictions do not have problems.
It can be paid hereby debit card.
The zoo is old but very small. Even so, they managed to squeeze a lot of animals inside. The hippo seemed sad, but otherwise the animals inside were mostly curious and cheerful.
Great zoo, more than expected here, a very good day out. Been here every time I have journeyed to Amsterdam and enjoyed myself every single time.
You can really get close to the animals and watch them. Especially a 3 month old baby elephant, and baby monkeys. In the park there is a lot of greenery and tall trees. Unfortunately with Covid 19 there are buildings that cannot be visited.
The price
Awesome zoo, with a fantastic Planetarium. None of the animals are sad zoo lions.
A great place to get up close with nature in the heart of Amsterdam. Artis is well known for their beautifully designed park. You ll not only find the animals, but also architecture and flora fascinating here. With an aviary, tropical garden, sea life exhibit and plenty more there is something for everyone here. A must do for every tourist and Dutchie alike.
Well designed and interesting zoo with lots to see packed into a fairly small but somehow spacious area. Liked that you can get close to so many of the animals without oppressive h&s measures, but cages are thoughtfully designed and safe for children. Suggest at least half a day to get the most out of it but could spend all day here. Number of food options serving decent items that actually looked pretty healthy overall. Also can picnic if you prefer. Note if you have very small children/babies It's worth bringing your own food as we couldn't find much suitable for a baby; our fault for forgetting to pack something though. There are some unusual animals to see such as African hunting dogs, vultures and sloths. The swimming elephant area is great if they are in the water as you can get really close views.
The +: Beautiful park with various trees and flowers. Beautiful butterfly aviary!
The -: the price is very high (23 ) and some animals seem to be cramped ...
The zoo has a varied collection of animals of any species, it costs about 20 euros per ticket but as experience it is worth them all, for those who are passing by for a few days I recommend a ride in this beautiful place in close contact with animals and their habitat.
Best zoo I ve ever been too - the diversity of animals and exhibitions was insane. But some of the enclosures were really small which was quite sad.
From the sidewalks glorious and historic. Animal enclosure partially small but zoo remains zoo. Lots of seating. And an oasis of peace in the city. Organic Cola from Sicily is recommended and worth the price =)
A very nice zoo in the center of Amsterdam. Highly recommended to go, very nice for all ages (playground etc.)!
Well-kept park in the center of the city. Animals treated with respect. Particularly the covered pavilion of the sloths in "freedom".
Excellent urban zoo well-worth the cost of admission! The monkey/bat/lizard house was a favorite to which we kept returning, and all the exhibits were well thought-out and interesting. The aquarium is fun, and there are plenty of different dining options. The playground over by the elephants was a huge hit for adults and kids. We will definitely return!
Zoo liked, well-tuned territory, but many animals do not
No more a zoo, but an experience for every age! A beautiful and huge place with a huge variety of assets .. Costs 22 euros per adult but worth every euro!
It is a good opportunity to get close to small animals and get to know children. It can be seen that the animals are very healthy and happy. The first time they saw the lions chasing and playing, they were so lively; the elephants followed their mothers to the west;
Interesting activity if you are visiting Amsterdam. Too bad the prices are a bit expensive.
Possibility of being restored healthily.
Big zoo very good location, very nice and professional personal
Zoo friendly. A closeness to elephants that I have rarely seen. I stayed 30 minutes before so the moment is out of time.
A beautiful zoo with many animals. It is also very nice that KBF (Children's Party) is given here every year for the sick children. A very nice gesture from Artis.
Nice zoo! Unique that it is so centrally located in the city. Ideal for Kids!
Tuesday morning pleasantly empty and you can see everything in peace. Enclosure unfortunately relatively small and indoor facilities, especially toilets and gaps, often not very well maintained or dirty. But all in all okay.
A lovely zoo, beautifully layed out, lots of animals and feels much bigger than it looks on the map!
Fine zoo that is clearly working on making the animal enclosures more spacious and beautiful without forgetting the history of the zoo.
A really great zoo that's spaced out really well amidst old (listed buildings) and new sites. The new structures are architecturally beautiful with modern stylings. The old is just timeless elegance. There is a running theme throughout the zoo which is to bring the animals as close to the visitors to enjoy, learn and appreciate. I love the smaller enclosures where the sloths, pygmy marmosets, fruit bats and so much more are kept as they are moving around you as you make your way through the enclosure. There's nothing more exciting that seeing a wild animal in front of you without any plexiglass or fence to get in the way. Overall, the animals all looked well. The other highlights were the baby elephant, gorilla and chimpanzees enclosures. The aquarium area was also pretty cool. The minor let down was the planetarium. All in, the facilities are great and it's definitely a great day out!
If you like zoos you will like this one. It has many different exhibits. Definitely worth the value of the ticket
Huge zoo in the heart of Amsterdam.
The price is a bit high but you get a lot to offer.
In my opinion, the elephant enclosure is the highlight of this zoo. The zoo also offers a large aquarium.
It is around 10 minutes on foot FROM Amsterdam Centraal.
My tip: buy the tickets at Tours & Tickets, there you always save a few euros.
Beautiful old City zoo, spacious and clean. Pricing of drinks and food is a little high. Check out the summer night opening hours when they stay open after 6pm.
Great experience.. Variety of fauna is just mind blowing and to be very easily accessible is an added advantage
I enjoyed it very much with my daughter especially the young sea lions
Not only zoo animals, but aquarium, reptile park and butterflies.
A fun way to spend a morning away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The zoo is around a 10 minute tram journey from Centraal.
Had a great show in planetarium, very knowledgeable speaker.
Beautifully landscaped park, especially beautifully planted in spring. Enclosures are small, sometimes very dark. Parking at 100 meters, few zoos that do that;)
A family must while in Amsterdam! A big zoo, very well taken care of, full of seemingly happy animals and with lots of spaces for the kids to run around and play. We were there early in the summer and saw lots of babies of all species.
Nice zoo lots of variety. Also interesting museum called Micropia.
Beautiful zoo, the less dangerous animals go around quietly around the park, the elephants are put into heating facilities during the winter, as well as the gorillas. Beautiful family experience.
Very beautiful species, special mention for aquariums. Great proximity to animals, the only negative point being some enclosures that seem too small, but they are being renovated!
Zoos, not my favorite idea of what to do with wild animals, but if they have switched and are only housing captive bread or helping to protect endangered species, then I can get behind them. Artis is one of those.
Now, despite the above I do feel sorry for the lions and their relatively small enclosure. San Diego zoo and other such places give their lions a Mitch bigger space.
Very large, clean zoo.
Here is good animal care
Lots of animals, but personally I find it very outdated. Many animals have little space and it looks pretty old-fashioned. We don't have to go there anymore.
Very nice with especially small children, heart of Amsterdam, special zoo that is really worth it.
Too bad for time, not to believe what they write. A nice zoo, go only and have all the options and need to burn time until the flight or alternatively if there are children ...
Very nice, a little sad how elephants are kept, but I think it was for the climatic conditions. Spectacular aquarium.
It can be easily reached from Dam square by taking tram number 14 towards flevopark
I loved it. Absolutely adorable animals with very friendly staff. This is a must visit if you have a children or multiple. The Zoo also has a restaurant and a gift shop. The restaurant is a tad pricey but the food is good. The gift shop is expensive but some items are definitely worth getting if you come from far. If you are doubting if you should go. Just go. It'll be worth it.
Nice place for young kids but Planetarium is in Dutch only making it difficult for international tourists.
Convert beautiful zoo !!! Children were so enthusiastic about all the animals.
The animals are so beautiful and well cared for.
Is really great. Fantastic for a nice walk and a quiet place to have a picnic. The food and drinks are not too expensive !!!
Entrance and parking place really too expensive !!!!
You can still get a discount through the site.
May convert enjoyed waas definitely worth it.
It's a nice zoo with quite a few animals. Very neat and clean. But i feel that it's a bit over priced. For the animals that are in the zoo, the tickets are a bit expensive. Also animal shows are lacking.
Loved the zoo. Well laid out with plenty to see. All open enclosures allowing better viewing. Lovely butterfly house and the biggest crocodile I have ever seen. Kids loved it
