Cool zoo. Have been several times and a day out is always too short.
Cool zoo. Have been several times and a day out is always too short.
For us, Artis is an animal park close to home.
Always nice to visit once or twice a year.
Although we are often out after 3 to 4 hours.
Our daughter just likes to see the animals.
Not the biggest of zoos but it does have all the major attractions. Not lsyed out the best so we worked a zig zag pattern to see all the animals. Good in the restaurant is poor as you would expect at a zoo.
It's nice and they are improving the cages. However the entrance cost is simply probative for a casual visit. Also make sure you buy your tickets at a tiny discount beforehand so you don't have to wait in the long entrance queues.
Love it! Loads of family members like the Gorillas, Apes etc resides here lol!
Very well organised zoo, with big variety of animals, which seem to be "sleepy". Preferrably visit on a sunny day.
Great location of the zoo.
Animals are groomed.
A unique collection of amphibian fish.
Highly recommend for a visit.
The zoo is beautiful and suitable for children and there are restaurants and cafe I would recommend to visit
Artis is a beautiful zoo in the middle of Amsterdam. Besides the animals, Artis also has an impressive variety of trees and plants. Together with the beautiful buildings, life is good in Artis.
Top zoo where you can sometimes walk between the animals
Very nice place in the middle of the city. Very affordable with an annual card.
Really wasn't expecting this place. All the exhibitions were very well designed, especially the indoor ones. All the animals look healthy and well cared for. There's a lot of variety, too. Definitely one of the best zoos I've ever visited. It IS worth checking it out.
Very nicely done ... diving elephants, sloths, fish, butterflies and so on. Many could even be touched! Really great
Nice place for young and old. Watching the birds and other animals is always fun. They also have play areas for young children. The food and drinks are affordable and quite delicious too. It can be very busy so you can see less of the animals. Sometimes the animals are also less active, so you don't get to see anything.
I was there with school pupils behaved very well also because of the modern layout i think many animals appreciate the young visitors amazing was the knowledge expressed by the kids in the planetarium it means children feel connected
An amazing zoo, very good range of animals with some really cool and open enclosures allowing you to get up quite close to the animals. There's also some parts where you can walk around in the enclosure with some animals which is really cool. I'd also massively recommend the butterfly enclosure.
You can spend a good few hours here.
It's not massive, but well designed and family friendly. Lacking in large mammals but good selection of birds and enough to spend 2-3 hours.
Nice but way too small for the animals if you compare it with other zoos
Nice zoo. Lots to see and do. The 'new' piece is also very beautiful. It is a shame that the signposts are not correct and not all information signs (eg the armadillo was not in his residence but I was missing a stay of another animal and that other animal was missing).
As an animal you can better become a burger within a month than spend your life there
Really super quiet today. More staff than visitors. Wonderfully laid back .
Despite the Corona measures, they have done well. Have enjoyed coming there very much.
Very great place to visit!
Interesting for children and adults!
Many kinds of animals, birds, insects, butterflies are exposed!
I've been coming here since I was little. The park is still beautiful and there is a lot to do.
Very inspiring place especially the part with fish and fock.
Great experience at zoo .. unfortunately it was raining heavy and we had to leave on the same day. Still , worth visiting this place. It will take around 5-6 hours to watch all the zoo.
If people could, they would still fix the sun's rays behind bars. Nauseating animal suffering.
An amazing zoo found just outside of the main center of Amsterdam. Very easy to get to from Amsterdam central station. The zoo has a fantastic array of animals and facilities. Had a fantastic day I will be definitely be coming back soon
awesome place with lots of different species and beautiful scnery!
A nicely set out zoo, with pleasant views and happy looking animals. A good day out!
Beautiful, organized and large zoo; ideal for spending at least three hours with children. Highly recommended to families.
The lovingly designed zoo makes up for its expensive entry due to its romantic garden and beautiful enclosures.
Old and familiar. Animal enclosures are getting better.
Lovely to walk around. Too bad parking has become so expensive.
Just fine in terms of zoo.
Only in this time do you expect the measures for corona to be arranged. But no maps are handed out, because they want to avoid contact. I get it, but the indoor accommodations and restaurants are one-way streets and when you get to the exit again and again without telling where the entrance is, it becomes very frustrating.
A beautiful, uncluttered zoo where it is relaxed. Beautiful nature where the animals live and that in the middle of the city. We go every year and then fully enjoy.
I think Artis is a great zoo. Many animals have spacious housing.
Really a green oasis in the city. Have enjoyed delicious all day here. Startled by the lion's stay, really small!
Fantastic zoo.. lots of opportunity to interact with the animals and birds up close
The parking fees are too high, even for Amsterdam standards
it is always shown, again no weather ....
where can it be found?
Very efficiently laid out zoo. It may look small, but it will take you several hours to go through and check out all the exhibits. It gets very crowded on nice days so plan accordingly. If travelling with babies, I recommend using a carrier as strollers are too low to see over some of the barriers. Better yet, you could borrow one of the zoo's mobile chairs.
As a child my grandfather and I often went to the 'Bosplan' and to Artis.
Now I am almost 70 years old and I will get there if I can, an unforgettable experience.
Wonderful world, a best place to come with children.
We saw a lot of young animals. Relatively few visitors. Too bad many stays are still closed due to Covid-19. Nice that animals got ice cream.
Lovely zoo where the animals get more and more space. We have been here for over 40 years.
One of the better zoo's I have been to in the world. Had push carts for children. Amazing exhibits and multiple eateries near by and on site. They allow you to exit and come back. They have multiple languages so it is extremely inclusive.
Elephants, giraffes, lions, chimpanzees, black goats loved us the most. It's worth visiting.
No animals, no atmosphere .. after a short walk you have seen everything and you actually find it sad for the remaining animals that they are in small cages in a smelly city ..
In addition, was completely overridden by an "artist" who played on the stage. Got the feeling that Artis is more of a hangout for hipsters than a zoo. The fact that they are "tolerated" by smoking here seems to confirm the theory.
Somewhat dated zoo that therefore also breathes history.
The most beautiful places are the butterfly garden and the aquarium with beautiful underwater scenes including the canals of Amsterdam. It is a shame that some stays seem too small for the animals.
Parking 15! Euros. Not really reasonable. Should be cheaper in combination with access. Others who come to the city or continue to pay the full price.
It is an immense Zoological park, IP ticket also includes the aquarium absolutely to visit
Not for a long time, but it was very nice to be here again. Nice park and lots to see.
Supercool to have this zoo in the middle of the city, but the areas for the animals are quite small.
Always enjoy a visit to the Artis Zoo. Sealions, Elephants, and lots too see. Loved the new Jaguar enclosure. Reptile house and gorillas are old favourites.
First time here with my wife and son of 14 months. He was over the moon. Unfortunately, many people who unfortunately do not stick to the 1.5 meters !! Something Artis cannot do anything about, but the mandatory walking direction can and must indicate words more clearly than now !! Otherwise it would have been 5 star.
Great zoo, clever use of none visual obstructive barrier's made you feel closer to the animals. Would visit again
A really great way to fill a day. Lots of different species in what seems like a small space from the outside. Fish to Lions all accessible.
The reason for lack of 1 star is the fairly disorganised restaurant and no free and easy maps meaning it's a bit difficult to find find your way around if there's something specific you'd like to see.
Lots of animals of different animals; clean and well kept zoo.
Nice and fun loving scienve meuseum. Tells you more about the micro organisms around us and how they affect us. Interactive methods of learning and sessions by proffessionals. Worth visit if you are science enthusiast.
Have a nice stay, free-roaming / monkeys (no tourists) and free swing with city pass
