Very nice zoo! And for a city zoo in Amsterdam everything is still surprisingly spacious.
Only if you have to buy water is that something of 3 per drink, dustip: just take your bammetje and drink with you!
A lovely place to visit with lots to see. Some of the enclosures seemed a little small though.

A fantastic city zoo. I like to come there. A lot has changed. As for the elephants have received a wonderful new stay with lots of water. In the summer it is also nice in June, July and August it is open until sunset. I can heartily recommend it.
Experience beautiful and different from the usual. The park is immense, it is mainly outdoors but also offers numerous indoor rooms, such as the aquarium, the reptile house, the aviaries, the planetarium is a space for insects. Entrance costs 24, which I think is adequate. The paths are well marked and clear, the park is very well kept, well cared for and clean, with excellent entertainment areas for children. It is unfortunately sad to see these large animals in small spaces. But if you are passionate about the genre it is a stop not to be missed.
More than great and suitable for children and adults and to enjoy the holidays.

Great zoo for such a compact city. Includes nice aquarium. Lions, gorillas, giraffes, elephants, flamingos, reptiles, butterfly house, penguins, ostriches, other exotic species. Very pleasant experience with adults and kids.
A zoo at city center. We were surprised (in a good way) with numbers of animals eg jaguars, lion, giraffes, crocodiles, scorpions, snakes etc. Very much well maintained. Can be crowded on beautiful sunny days. Food wise, not so much variety. Overall place size is moderate. Not as big as those in other cities eg Rotterdam. We spent 4-5 hours including lunch and were done with all animals. Will go back but probably not in near future. Once in a while is good enough.
Great to see with or without children. Every time you see new animals and walkways.
Horrible. The animals are very unhappy and bored. They live in small enclosures. Lots of animals from warm countries that are outside in the cold all day. I strongly advise against.
Super place! Especially for kids. Have a year card so here are regularly found with the kids. Clear, not too big and good mix. It is a pity that the small playground at the monkeys is gone but the playground in the back of the cafe is also okay ... will get bored in the long run, the variety of playground equipment is not there. Only some slides. Enough spots also to drink or buy snacks in between. Trolleys for kids is handy, you also have at playground in the back and at the aquarium, they were allowed to be at the monkeys!
Make sure to have 2 hours at least to have the chance to skim everything

So many animals! This place Is huge and a gem hidden within Amsterdam. Crazy to think all those birds are just flying around that small part of the city.
The Aquarium has a big collection as well. Well worth the trip and well worth the fee. Close to the Botanical gardens too so you can do both in one day
It is a special experience to walk in a zoo in the middle of the busy city! I also think the accommodation is very small. Sad for the beasts. Very expensive entrance for such a small park. 15 euros parking in the parking lot. The four of us lost 115 euros to come in. No soda available. And if you are unlucky the elephants are inside. Nowhere else a place to smoke. It doesn't get any nicer on it. Been to Blijdorp last week. I thought that was worth the money. Much bigger!

Beautiful new elephant enclosure, they finally have more space. The new monkey house with stray monkeys and other animals is also very entertaining! Well I never have anything to complain about Artis
A very beautiful place for children and adults, you can relax in this place, there are plenty of toilets: washbasins toilets. Eating at this place is also good and cheap :-)
We love zoo and checking how animals are treated around the world. Artis zoo is very small with a large amount of animals inside, donated for animals as well, but the price of the ticket is not worth the visit. If you driving car you need to pay additional for a parking slot

Not been time. Everything looks nicely cared for. There is clearly a lot of attention for all plants and animals. Downside: toilets are less fresh than before. Furthermore, the prices for food and drinks are, just like in the past, too high. We enjoyed it again!
Third is by far the most amazing zoo I've ever been to! My boyfriend and I spent 5.5 hours enjoying the well laid out exhibits, interacting with the animals, and exploring the aquarium as well as the planetarium. Every enclosure had been carefully designed to allow not only the visitors to feel welcome and close to the animals, but also to give the animals themselves a sense of freedom. I've been to too many zoos where the animals look downright depressed, locked away behind steel and an enclosure that is far too small for them. Here, while the enclosures are not the largest, the animals are only given what walks are absolutely necessary for their safety and the safety of the guests. The difference is palpable and the animals seem far more content. While no animal should be caged, this zoo demonstrates the best options available to keep animals happy and healthy if they must be on display.

I used to be alone but I did not really like it there, because there were too many animals in too small a stay. This has changed completely, there are fewer animals and the spaces are open and large, which is very nice to see. The animals also look neat and tidy but there are still a few things to be adjusted. The loft of the owls is very old and small, they are happy to raise money for it so hopefully they have a new stay the next time I go. The park is well furnished, has nice walking routes, you can enjoy good food or just sit quietly. What I personally like very much is the inner part where sloths, bats and monkeys roam freely. Some further away are also a number of birds. If you still have time left you can always go to micropia where they have a huge amount of bacteria that you can view and a number of activities that you can do yourself
There has been a smoking ban in the park since April, so purchase a canceled parking ticket and go into town as long as the subscription is still valid

Very super zoo. Penguins are close, elephants and giraffes have a huge place. There was also a little elephant. You can go in directly to the kangaroos. There is also a children's playground and a dining room. You want a full day program.
We took mushrooms and went for a trip to the Zoo! It was lots of fun and the variety of animals is outstanding. The Aquarium and Butterfly garden were the highlights for us. A good idea would be some sort of painted line on the ground that could be followed to ensure seeing all the animals. Yes, there's the map, but when popping ones cherry at Amsterdam Zoo, on mushies, best to bring someone along who can actually read it. :-)
What can be wrong with good old Artis. It is becoming more beautiful and animal friendly.

Place for big and small, you can spend all day there. Spend time with Kangaros bouncing next to you. See lots of spieces and been really close to them. I will recomended to go. With I Amsterdam card entrance is free .

This is best zoo. Very good organized. Build in such way that even in winter it's totally okey to come. We were there two families, four kids (different age) and four grown-ups - everyone have found something interesting. One day is not enough if you are aiming to see micropia and planetarium - so my experience - plan this separately.

Some spaces are pretty small for the animals, but overall a very good Museum. The butterfly pavilion and nearby seal tank were my favourites

One of the best zoo's I've been to. Had a wide variety if animals and enclosures. The elephant enclosure is amazing. Felt like the animals had loads of space to roam and the enclosures were very open.
I have been coming to Artis from a long time ago, when I was still living there and had an annual pass to wander around. Now curious about new male lion.
