It is zoo close to the center of Amsterdam. You feel that they suffer from difficulties with expanding. Fair, but if you are turist in Amsterdam I would not prioritize this zoo. There are many other better thing to do in Amsterdam

Absolutely fantastic experience with enclosures that let you go right up to some of the animals.

Family outing par excellence. Nice idea of the sleep walk despite the fact that there weren't many animals to see but we aren't night vision goggles either. Very nice.

This zoo is tragic, if you want to see lions extremely stressed, then this is the zoo you want to be at! The elephants were rocking side to side, and the enclosure for the Gorilla's was too small; all the enclosures were too small, big animals that cover lots of ground need to be left out of zoos like this one. I thought with this being Amsterdam they'd have the money to invest in decent facilities for these animals but they don't, they made this really weird artsy junkyard that is draining the life from these poor animals. Give it a miss. Also, its really easy to access a lot of the enclosures and the ability to be electrocuted is all too easy, especially for that one idiot, which there always is. However the aquarium and insectarium where all good,these were nice to go through.

A place with way too small enclosures, and obviously unhappy and stressed animals. A sad and commercial place. So many better alternatives to visit in Amsterdam.

ARTIS is a zoo that in a strange way makes you fell home.
Some habitats seem a bit small, but do not forget it is a city zoo.
Great playground for children.
And it is really a nice and clear zoo.

A phenomenal zoo ... one of the best in which I was ... huge and should spend a few hours just to run ... many restaurants with food and drink ... it is mandatory to visit the aquarium, planetarium and tropicarium as well as a part of butterflies . Adult ticket 25 euros.

Great Zoo with lots of different animals. Worth a visit!

After years been to Artis again. Saw many changes which are definitely improvements. Lovely walk through the park. Have something to eat before park in the Plantage. Parking space found nearby.

Huge zoo! Environment is like what is needed for the animals!!

Great zoo. A lot of animals. Tip for anyone planning to visit this zoo: bring food and water with you. You will just be very tired of walking and want to eat and drink. The entry price is 24 euros, but it's worth it.

Such a great experience - lots of animals, in a few runs you can even walk among them. All of them looking good and healthy. Some runs were small, but it's just my point of view.
At first I thought that it's a little bit pricey (20 per person), but we spent there whole day (7h) and I'm not sure if we've seen everything. Lots of places to sit and rest, playgrounds for children and a few cafes with good food. Hope I can go back there some time!

It is and remains a fun zoo with super friendly staff. Due to the layout, vegetation and old buildings, it sometimes seems like a city park. Every time we enjoy the birdhouse immediately to the left upon entering and the house with the fish, to the right in the back of the zoo. Personally, I think Artis is a pleasant zoo, because they have chosen not to make it into a big colorful "ball pit / playground", under the guise of: everything to make children happy. Artis focuses on being informative / providing information.

Tradition. To be proud of. Monument in the city. Worth a visit.

One of the best zoos I have been in. Very big, easy to navigate and a lot of different animals.

Nice garden. Many different animals all in top condition. Minus point; the prices of the catering.

This place is absolutely huge, it's really interesting to visit and has plenty of different animals.
I really liked the aquarium and the possibility to see the sea lions underwater. Another beautiful part is the building dedicated to butterflies that flies free inside the building.
I also paid a visit to the planetarium but sadly the projection was only in Dutch and not in English so I could not understand anything, for a place that attract so many tourists I expected to find the projection in English.
I'll share here some of the picture I made today in the hope that others come to visit this awesome place.

Very small enclosures for the animals, so they have little room for maneuver. Fewer animals with larger stays would have been more animal-friendly.

Great zoo in amsterdam not far from the city center, parking available you pay at the ticket stand. The kids enjoyed it.

Super cute zoo! One of the best and most beautiful. They have all animals and a good walking route. In between you have something tasty to eat and then you have a nice day.

Nice zoo. You can sometimes very close to the animals. But not very cheap and the parking can quickly cost 30 euros

Nice collection of animals. It's just a pity that our own staff does not adhere to the Corona rules, even though they even wear jackets with the 1.5 meter rule. And unfortunately I didn't think the food in the restaurant was very good. A very special menu.

Nice zoo, only thought that many animals have a small stay. Is no longer entirely of this time.

It is very nice to take an annual subscription to the artis! So you can experience all the changes, from new ones to new ones! Beautiful park

Lovely zoo! Lots of unexpected extras - planetarium, microbium, aquarium and of course lots of animals. A lovely aspect was that the animals look so happy and like they have plenty of space. The enclosures were clean and large and they were well looked after even though it was January and very cold! A great family day out, a beautiful zoo and well worth a visit.

it's not really big, but it is really nice. you can walk between animals and birds,and get so close that you could touch them. there is also the planetarium.only bad note: the make only one or 2 show in English per day :(

This is a lovely place to spend an afternoon, especially if you have kids. Not only a zoo but also has a nice aquarium.

Nice animals, but poorly maintained park. The bunks are filthy, all the benches are filthy, not to mention the toilets. After I had eaten with the elephants in the restaurant I had to sit on the toilet for about half an hour because it almost came out again.

One of the nicest zoos I have visited. Great variety of animals. You can visit the park in one day (approx. 4 hours)

It was an excellent Zoo!!
We dropped our luggage at a Drop&Go Service near Centraal Station and drove to Artis by Tram.
It was our last day and we got 4 Hours left till our Train will come.
We asked the woman in the Drop&Go if it's enough. She said: Yeah it's not that big. If you want to see all it will take 90 min.
How silly
The Zoo is awesome!
One could easy walk and look around there for 5 Hours!!
Stunning Aquarium. Great Flowers and walks. Cool Insects to see. Lovely Butterflies to look at.

What a fantastic zoo, I always loved to come hear as a kid and I still do. It has alot of animals and you can drink or eat something nice in the cafeteria. My favorite thing to do here would be the seal show or the butterfly garden.

Very nice park, where the animals stay more and more like their natural habitat. Good investments are made in the animals and their stay, which is also able to participate in a number of important breeding programs. Enough fun playgrounds for the children. The new elephant stay is a great experience to see how they can wash and bathe

Super nice zoo in the center of Amsterdam .. you do not notice that you are there .. it is extensively clean and very animal friendly .. the renewed elephants and giraffe stays are beautiful .. the gorilla stay is always nice .. the aquarium part is in a beautiful old building and very cool set up .. there are many options for eating and drinking and the toilets are clean .. price of entrance is on the high side and certainly in combination with parking .. the playground at the restaurant is small but neat .. little for the smallest .. recommended is the 3d cinema part ..
