My partner and I like to visit a zoo in every country we go to and the Artis is up there with the best we have been to so far. It's expensive but it definitely worth it because of the quality of the buildings and quirky curation of the animal enclosures.
Beautiful zoo in the middle of Amsterdam. The new micropia is also recommended. Ticket for this can be purchased directly with the entrance for Artis.

This zoo has a lot of animals ! That may be obvious but when ever we took a corner we discovered something new.
We recently visited Berlin zoo, and I think this is a better place. More to see and it's a bit more spacious.
The "monkey house" and butterfly house is really worth the visit. You get to walk among the animals with the butterflies circling around you. Or you have to be mindful not to step on an iguana.
Would recommend this place.
Artis micropia: very interesting, it takes some time and patience. A journey into microbes and the "barely visible". Remember to perform all the stamps.
Fantastic zoo. Already 171 years old. Definitely a must do if you are in Amsterdam.

A zoo to fall in love with. Extreme closeness to the animals under the expert care of animal keepers. Generous facility, I suspect, the animals feel comfortable there.
Our kids loved it, but seeing all the animals in captivity reminded me that humans are pretty lame.
As always great and super fun for the grandchildren. So happy with my abbo !!
If you intend to visit this zoo, you definitely need to bring some time. There is a lot to see, the landscape design is really beautiful and the animal enclosures are well embedded. I recommend visiting this place, it's very likely a lot different to the zoos you know from home.
The zoo is small and too expensive. Even the maps are for sale! I recommend Rotterdam Zoo instead

A zoo in the middle of the city is of course very special. I would like to see the animal enclosures further refurbished and expanded.

Zoo looks great, with children certainly interesting. So we walked around Rum and here you can see many animals like zebras, giraffes, elephants, ... If you want to save money you go around it

Nice city zoo, highlights I found reptiles and monkey house, some lofts too small, much outdated. Would have liked to see more pictures from the past of the 'grand' park.

Nice zoo, well maintained and nice that there is a lot of room for renewal. The new accommodation and the elephant section has become beautiful. However, the entrance is quite pricey and a snack or drink too. For customers with a small wallet this is almost impossible to pay.

Great day in Artis! The zoo is very large and has a large number of different animals. The restaurant of Artis, on the other hand, was very disappointing.
Beautiful authentic zoo full of atmosphere! Fortunately, animals now have much better results than a few years ago. Only downside the catering everything must be healthy and vega ridiculous ... No more coke or other (light) soft drinks to get and besides a fries almost everything is vega or vegan..and hygiene in the big restaurant is very bad. Ridiculously lets people choose for themselves !! So it's better to have lunch first at one of the restaurants across the street

Great zoo. They treat animals very nicely. It's bigger than it looks.
It was very nice and they have a lot of different animals. But most of the animals are outside and you can't see them when they are inside so when it rains there isn't a lot to see/do

We love this place, the animal gates ( as they are) are clean, animals well fed, as i do know that in some places of the world the captive animals in zoo are not having enough food. The zoo keepers ard very kind, and always working on something. Its a happy atmosphere. As much as i am sorry for the animals, kids love to see them and so we come here quite often. 4 stars for small space for animals, they do need much more.
Not the best zoo on the planet, but there is something for it. A space with free monkeys that you can really get up close to has its effect. Very few visitors at the opening. Either way, the children and the children who sleep in us will be delighted.
nice zoo, there was also a children playground and restaurant. only rhe sea dog's pool is a bit small.

Tremendous. Its a bueautiful zoo, with nice and shady walks. Ideal for a hot day to escape the city. Its not cheap but worth every penny. Our highlights, the jaguars, the forest house and the playgrounds. But to be honest we couldn't see it all. Enjoy...
Some enclosures are a bit too small for their inhabitants like the lions and chimpanzees. Nice historic buildings and gardens.
Zoo in Amsterdam. The adjustments make it a lot more 'animal-friendly'. Always fun for the kids.
French fries and vegetarian snacks are fried in oil where meat products are fried. This is not mentioned anywhere. So vegetarians and Muslims are not taken into account.
Beautiful zoo. I notice that modernization is taking place. Some empty and old places that need urgent attention. I also love planting. Thank you for paying attention to a conscious snack or lunch. Friendly service! I think it is quite expensive when added together, even though I bring some sandwiches. I did feel that the money ended up in the right place.

Zoo enclosures are small, male looked anxious/depressed pacing back and forth. Butterfly garden was nice though. Wouldn't go back as it made me sad.

The baby elephant was adorable. They were playing in the water. Lots of other animals to see as well, and great playgrounds for kids.
Find the entrance fee expensive and the animals have little space. That could be better, the children especially liked the aquarium

Unique city zoo
It is a beautiful zoo with a huge variety of animals. He offers some game possibilities for children. You can spend good 4h time there.
As with all zoos, the enclosures are much too small.
Small but very beautiful. You could eat there as well, so it is great place to spend whole day there.
Huge and clean, even if some animals seemed a bit 'sad!
Park itself is neat, toilets a little less.
Should be a clearer walking route that makes you feel like you've seen everything.
This is one of the best attraction in Amsterdam in my opinion and one of the best zoo I've been to. So pastoral, green, bloomsing all at once. Plus very clean. All animals looked happy and taked care of. Highly recommend
