I love Artis its doing its best to modernise and don't put animals in too small of cages although the lions are still in a reasonably small enclosure they have started with letting animals run more free around and with some you can interact. They have done an amazing job so far in making it a nice zoo where you can easily walk around and enjoy sit on a bench enjoy nature as well. They have nice restaurants now as well next to penguins is a nice place. I would recommend it although the price is not the cheapest it's a nice place I spent about 3 hours there.

A must to do if you are visiting Amsterdam, there are some great deals online to get the tickets slightly cheaper which is always worth doing before.

If you want to see everything it does take around 2 hours so make sure that you put some time aside and view everything it has to offer.

The zoo is very large and offers the possibility of a wonderful visit for the whole family. You will find animals of many types (some even free) and several restaurants. Next to the zoo there is the MICROPIA museum of microbiology that I recommend equally. All included if you have the I AMSTERDAM card!

A spacious and well designed zoo, lots to see and the enclosures seem good for both animals and visitors. The planetarium is also a food addition. Artis is definitely a good way to spend a fair few hours when visiting Amsterdam

The structure is very beautiful and there are many animals to see. There are also some downsides. For example, you don't always see animals (obviously you can't make yourself seen), it's also easy to get lost and risk not seeing everything and it looks like a maze. To get a map of the zoo you pay a few euros and it seems very unfair to me. The part of Micropia seemed very nice to me and it was also interactive.

The stay in was okay the zoo is one of the medium sized zoo's we are with child in the winter without playground;) in about 2.5 hours by what we found rather quickly although we went alone. What we found particularly beautiful are the indoor buildings and to make break and food we can recommend the seals building which is nicely done with blue light. What we did not like was the lion enclosure which we found too small. All animals have on us a good and well feeling Made an impression. The elephant family played and cuddled sweet together.

A very nice zoo. Can be reached relatively centrally and the animals are visibly doing well. No animal from a zoo in all of Europe has looked so happy before. The price is accordingly completely acceptable and there is also a restaurant. The animals are not separated by fences, but by a small river around the "enclosure". Very nice and clean there, including the toilets

I personally love the zoo and artis is a great one the food in the restaurants is also good not perfect but then again its a zoo not a 5 star restaurant and the animals seem happy so all and all its a lovely experience!

Absolute gem of a zoo, so much to see here, it is definitely a full day you will need when going here.
A fascinating array of animals, and stunning architectural masterpieces showcasing educational displays as well as the rich history of the zoo and how it has developed over the many years it has been open.
There is also an extra, interactive exhibition on site (for a fee) called Micropia, going into the nitty-gritty of microscopic life, the interactive displays are absorbing, fun, shocking, and sometimes just a little bit disturbing. Certainly a worthwhile diversion while on site

There are parts of the zoo that are a little dated, but after multiple visits over the last few years it has become clear that they are working on these areas to improve and update them.

Thoroughly recommend visiting this zoo, it is now one we make the effort to visit on a regular basis, despite not living in the Netherlands

Not big, but beautiful! A real city zoo that has been working hard in recent years to raise the garden to a higher level. Many new and more modern (more natural) accommodation for the animals. The old buildings that give it a special appearance. This year we have taken out another subscription to enjoy this wonderful zoo more often!

Very nice zoo with beautiful 19th and 20th century buildings. There is plenty to see and do for young and old. The hospitality industry was not to write home about. After standing in line for more than 20 minutes waiting to order two coke, "sorry sir we are organic". In short, no cola to order ... point of interest for Artis to more choice in the hospitality industry !.

Artis is great! We love to go there with our kids and family and friends! I also think that they take good care of the animals, however the elephants and monkeys (gorillas eg) always make me a bit sad because they seem to realise whats happening. I would prefer them to be in freedom :-S

Very nice exhibits and collecting the stamps means you'll see everything. We even got to hear a short lecture about bacteriophages, which was very interesting. Worth going to, especially if you're enjoying the rest of ARTIS

Especially for me (the elderly) nice on Monday, when it is not too busy. Thank you for having Artispas also have a discount on food and drinks. Interesting show about Darwin in planetarium.

A very lovely sunny day at the zoo in Amsterdam to celebrate mine and my niece's birthdays. It's quite a nice zoo but I have been at bigger and better ones. However, I did get to see some birds and animals that I had not seen before. I am a little concerned that some of the animals do not have enough space though.

Take advantage of the 50% discount that you get with an annual pass at the citizens zoo. Ticket was now only 12 euros the same promotion money also for people with an annual ticket at artis, they can get a 50% discount at citizens like that in Arnhem. Nice zoo I am an insect and butterfly fan and they have had enough of it here. I also like fish and amphibians and reptiles and animals in the natural environment.

Tip for Artis make some more T-shirts and other clothing. Something cute for small children.
