The hike into Tennessee Valley Beach is less than 2 miles and pretty flat. Kids rode their bikes both ways easily. The beach was gorgeous and not overcrowded. I guess the hike in scares off the masses.
Amazing place. The wind is a bit wild and unpredictable, but that just made it better.
The best. Super scenic, super challenging running/hiking trails. Beware that it gets crowded, so hop out of bed early and enjoy the easy parking and empty trails before the rush!
Fort Funston is a fantastic hang gliding site. Good place to watch them from the observation deck, they will fly by right in front of you!
Went to the Walt Disney Museum, it was pretty interesting
Come here allot. Nice hike and really good picnic areas. Also some good places to do a bbq
Yet another well known restaurant serving seafood in The Bay Area that can't properly cook salmon! The server made apologies and offered to take it back to the kitchen to cook the salmon a little longer.
On the other hand, the pork chop covered in pistachio crust was overcooked, dry and tasted the pistachios not the pork.
The desserts were great!
Beautiful place for a hike and also to see the Golden Gate Bridge from a different angle.
Did a helicopter ride over there SF Bay, was amazing!
It's a great place for dogs and people alike. I'm talking about Crissy field... The dogs can swim safely here. Keep them on a leash on the main trail, off leash on the beach front and everyone will be happy.
A must see if you're visiting the city. Or even if you're not. Try for the middle of the day to avoid the fog. Gorgeous, well-kept public area with sweeping views of the Golden Gate, the Bridge, and San Francisco.
Bigger and more diverse than Central Park in New York. Same Architect though. Bonus is Ocean beach at the west end of the park
I was Born and raised in S.F.
So beautiful. It never gets old to sight see.
Plan to wait in traffic in & out on weekends and holidays. So beautiful, has a great pebble beach and shore line. Watch for rip currents and under tows with small kids and dogs. Very pet and kid friendly.
Go walk the Presido promenade! You'll see not only gorgeous manicured areas but get sights of the Golden Gate and it'll take you right up to the bridge at Crissy Field
Absolutely gorgeous. Had a great time at the bridge. Our tour guy took us by the old army base that overlooked a beach and gave a great vantage point of the bridge.
First time in California. Was so cool to see the golden gate bridge. Awesome picture opportunity
I love to be here in the very famous and iconic bridge of san francisco. I feel i can spend a whole day to enjoy the scenery around the golden gate park. If you have a hobby in photography, I think this place will satisfy you. Just bring your gear out and start take a pictures. And there is a coffee shop to fulfill your caffeine needs.
Celebrating my birthday with my little Sister Dee Dee Feb 2018.
There was a warm spell in San Fran that week in early February. Hanging out at the Iconic Golden Gate bridge.
It's an amazing place I just want toss my hammock up and sleep swinging between the trees all day
Great place I go running across the golden gate bridge at least once a week I love it.
You'd never know you're in such close proximity to such a large metro area while you're visiting GGNRA. It's got wildlife, flora & fauna of course, the Pacific. It's an unbelievable area.
Walking the Golden Gate Bridge is an unforgettable experience.
The size of it is impressive but the height above the ocean is very interesting.
The view over San Francisco is beautiful and all together makes it a great place to walk across.
Spring time is the best season to visit. Tiny wild flowers bloom all over the hill.
Amazing park not as good as the redwood national park nearby but still it s a great view! Parking can be a problem just a heads up!
I really really love this place. I'm grateful for being here in my first stay in States, so remarkable. The landscape are so beautiful, well-designed, makes you didn't mind the long walks! I also enjoy the street musician that brings their great talent to the audience, in the plaza. Such a nice choice to enjoy the afternoon.
How are there not more stars available for the Golden Gate park? #1 its gorgeous, #2, lots of great events, like the Hardly Strictly festival, full moon walks, the deYoung. We could go on and on.
A must visit place for tourists. The view is spectacular. The weather was very pleasant. Most importantly the view of Golden Gate Bridge was crystal clear. Just don't keep anything valuable in the car. Car break ins are normal all across San Francisco. It happened with us at the Fisherman's Wharf near Pier 39.
Peaceful and romantic area. Great place to take a break from San Francisco's long walks. Your dogs willnlive it there. Very spacious and green area. You will absolutely live it where it is very clam and excellent for relaxation. You can see the Golden Gate bridge from here and enjoy sunrise and sunset either alone or with your lived ones.
Be sure to take the path that goes under the bridge to the dock area, great photo area that's not usually busy
study your maps ahead of time to find the best turnoffs and the best views. if you go down to the old fort baker site, now a hotel, there is some parking and great views from sea level on the northeast, marin co. side. there's a fishing pier to get the closest shots. on the northwest side of the bridge drive up the steep road to get views from above. there are a few parking areas, but there are limited spots, so go slow and watch for incoming and outgoing traffic everywhere!
We were at the Bay Area Discovery Museum (which was awesome) and the BADM is on/around the park. Great views, really twisty roads and impatient drivers, prepare for evasive driving (a car almost hit us trying to pass another car in a two-day tunnel)
Great for scenic sightseeing, hiking, walking your dog, running, people watching, meditating, reflecting, and just plain absorbing the awesomeness of the park.
Great park and great view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Nice place for family.
The engineering apart, the upkeep is a challenge and you would have to step back and admire both aspects. The place is lively, both naturally and with man-made artifacts
Take a walk, take in the ambience, take in a show, or simply watch the boats. It is going to leave a lasting impression. The Rock is not far off, and you may catch a ferry and experience the island that generated so many fables .. could you swim to the shore? With a little bit of help from some floatation device that you had to cobble together? Yes, it has that element of romanticism. Worth a visit is also the place where seals bask in the Sun .. what a sight!
fab place..our 2nd visit..we spent a week in San Fran and a week in Hawaii..open topped buses great for tourists
It's a very nice place to walk around(or in my case ride a bike). There's different locations scattered around so it may take a while to visit them all while walking. There may not be any phone reception there, but it doesn't really matter to me. Just as long as my phone is charged and I have my music and camera, I'm all good.
Also this place a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge, I recommend checking the weather to see when the clearest time of day will be.
Tennessee Valley is a wonderfully diverse area to explore. The main drag to the beach is a well-populated but pleasant mini-hike. If you take a side trail, you'll forget how many people you saw at the beach! The Coastal Trail was closed as of 5/28/18 (looked temporary), but the Wolf Ridge / Hill 88 / Miwok trails were open and beautiful. There were points where the trail looked guarded by wildflowers -- growing over the trail so you have to squeezed through them. That hike was a LOT of uphill with some shady spots, beautiful views, and amazing wildflowers.
Pro tip: In addition to cleaning up after yourself, it would be great if you picked up a few extra bits of trash on your way out, to keep this place pristine! (It's always a nice touch to go beyond just packing out what you bring in.)
If your a tourist or bored why not? Nice views and if you like bridges forget about it, she is world famous! If I ever get froggy enough to I know where I'm going.
Beautiful place just outside of the city to hike bike and enjoy nature at its finest. Really cool to catch the Fogg at Sunset rolling over the hills as it touches the water, worth the trip if you haven t seen it!
Absolutely beautiful, hilly wilderness area just north of the city. I ran a half marathon here in March and loved it. Lots of hills but wonderful, rewarding views along the ridge-line. I'm hoping to come back to take some pictures of the city / Sutro tower from here.
Love this place. You can visit the golden gate bridge and everything around. There is so much to do. Go on bike, walk, amazing views. You can even wacth some whales if you are lucky. Really recommend it.
Beautiful place! Cannot wait to return to this quiet and peaceful area.
Even though I've lived here all my life, I still get goosebumps every time I see the golden gate bridge from baker beach. Simply phenomenal...especially on a clear warm winter day.
The people here are very helpful and they have many items to choose from in the Souvenir Shop.
Bathrooms, nice walk and amazings views of the city.
Celebrated the Fourth of July near under the Golden Gate Bridge. It was spectacular!
Limited services diminishes the experience. Bring water. Good bathroom facilities.
This was one of the best parts of the trip. The view is great and there is a lot to walk around and see. Definitely bring a wind breaker to wear.
Beautiful sightseeing cause of these wonderful people.
Lovely place beach or walking on the trail. Great for dogs to run and play.
International landmarks... a point to visiting at least once in a lifetime.
Great place but keep in mind you cannot bring your pets. Also note there are a lot of ticks in the area, but still an incredible view.
This is a world-class Park. From the Museum's to the Japanese tea garden to the Rose Garden to the Conservancy of flowers and all the way to the Grand Ocean Beach this part of San Francisco is not to be missed!
I like the fresh air blowing in from the ocean. The trails are well planned. I always spend more time than I had planned.
As an adventurer, I often like to travel to remote places filled with green. To see so much fog and mist in an otherwise dry and parched California is truly breathtaking. Not only is the park beautiful, but so is the road leading up to it. I recommend taking Skyline Boulevard.
A tourist attraction with one of the most beautiful views in the whole Bay Area. You can see sweeping vistas of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz, Sausalito, and much more. There are view points and look outs on both sides of the bridge, so be sure to get your fill. Getting there and parking can definitely be tough, so consider walking a bit, riding a bike, or going with a tour group. It is definitely a must do in the area.
What a lovely place. Beautiful scenery and gorgeous views. People are so awesome around you. Great for photography and some lovely stuff
Easily one of the best parks here in San Francisco. Super family friendly, except be careful on the part of the park facing Haight-Ashbury, the people there aren't always the people you wish your children to see.
It was a very beautiful trip I took. I had to get this picture with my best camera.
Very lovely. Got to hang out with the pigeons and ducks, and they seem very comfortable around humans.
Bike across the Golden Gate and take the Sausalito ferry back to the city. Really fun
Its a bit touristic and you probably need to buy chocolate at pretty much grocery store prices, but it's a nice place to walk around and shop. Get ice cream if you have the time and lines are short enough. They definitely do things right in the old factory area.
Pictures are taken out of the car. This is one of the most amazing bridges I have ever seen.
There's nothing like the Golden Gate bridge, historic, magestic and impressive.
Good to be here... great location.... beautiful heritage bridge...
Very nice area, very busy with tourists at all times.
Great place to visit. Did not expect to enjoy my visit as much as I did.
I love Golden Gate Park for going on walks or having picnics. For sure the best moment is during Hardly Strictly Bluegrass every year.
The initial ascent may be enough for those just looking for unmatched photo opps of the Golden Gate. Fighting the crowds here would be more worthwhile than the loop of a parking lot at ground level - vantage point isn't as impressive. If you feel adventurous, continue upwards and explore the outlets branching off of the roundabout. Even more views along the way and some historical stops as you continue on.
Golden gate bridge is the landmark of San Francisco. There are bike rental facility to explore the area. There are hikes that takes to the other side of the bridge on top of hills, from where one can get a majestic view of golden gate bridge with San Francisco city in the backdrop. Along the shore of the pacific one can enjoy a pleasant walk or for taking some rest there is Warming hut cafe on the shore of the pacific.
