Great beach! Snack shop is very rustic and cool. Beach isn't too rocky, bathrooms are nice. No pets allowed which is a bummer for the good doggos of the world but understandable. Parking was plentiful but some parts are pretty degraded right now.

It was a windy day. We were on one end of the bridge. We thought we missed a chance to see but accidentally, my cousin found a path to drive up when we did a u turn. There are people with bikes. We can see the bridge on a high view. It's really cool.

Wow. We truly loved this part of San Francisco. Getting out into nature in the beautiful bay area is something everyone should do for a few hours on your next trip to San Fran. The whole park is well kept and it's so good to see everyone out enjoying the best the city has to offer. Can't wait to go back!

We visited the overlook for the golden gate bridge from the north side of the bridge. Everybody wants to stop at the first two stops because you can see the entire bridge up close. But if you keep going, the upper vista points have much easier parking and still great views.

A good vantage point from which to view the bridge from its end. Please beware of vehicle thefts though. When we arrived into the wooded parking area, police were in attendance with a family who had had the window smashed on their car and had some of their luggage stolen. After speaking with a local, apparently it's a common occurrence in this area. Keep valuables out of sight and be mindful of you surroundings if taking a vehicle to thsi place. Bolut other than that, you can get some great photographs of the golden gate bridge!

I wish there were more portapotties along the lands end hike. Beautiful hike, not too difficult. Might recommend some long sleeves based on wind, fog and colder days. Have a great hike!! I went on a double date hike and I walked past lands end, past legion of honor, visited robin Williams home and took a beautiful shot with his home and the golden gate bridge!

Visiting from the east coast, skip those first few scenic stop where you fight the parking and head down towards Point Benita. There's better scenics views and some old battaries and beaches to find. Tons of trails to walk and great views towards the bay and out to the Pacific.

Please check for any parasitic arachnids on all people and animals that go to this park or really at any outside area like this. On 13 May 2019, I had to remove a tick lodged into the skin of my belly which found me here. Other than having this experience with a tick, it s a nice national recreation area . This belongs to we the people . Let s try and respect this fact and take care of our place.

Great scenery, needles to say, great place to ride bike, walk, and have a picnic. If you're going to ride your bike on the Golden Gate Bridge, make sure to follow the rules. If not the daily boke riders will Definitely remind you.

Drove to the viewing area after arriving earlier in the day. The site is easily accessible from the highway. Views of the Golden Gate Bridge were fantastic and access to the skyway was convenient to parking. Nice facility with many interesting features and tributes to the U.S. military.

I absolutely love running and hiking in the Marin Headlands which includes the Golden Gate National Recreation area. Although in the summer (yes, summer) it can be foggy and cold here, on a clear day it is tough to beat the views of San Francisco, the Pacific Ocean and the North Bay. There are several options for parking but I prefer to park over at Pirates Cove and begin my wanderings there. Beware on a nice day parking can be limited and the trails busy so show up early and catch the nature preserve at its most pristine. There are limited facilities near parking and none on the trail so be sure to bring your own water and food.

Actually, we grabbed a friend who, as luck would have it, had arrived on Terra Firma exactly 65 years hence. So we ducked in at the Bar/restaurant @ The Inn at Cavallo Point, took care of the gent who valet parked the car and after a short wait, we were seated at a little table with cozy chairs. Adult beverages were the order of the hour, after which we delighted in a Quinoa pasta Mac n' cheese w/goat cheese and an order of steamed mussels that were to die for. All in all, a very satisfactory evening. We'll go back very soon...

There are some illustrate/ small scale of bridge structure to explain the Golden Gate Bridge design. Highly recommend to take time explain kids about the science to get them to interest science and engineering.

If you are not in a hurry, you can rent a bike or walk on golden gate bridge.

Be careful walking on the golden gate bridge. There are a lot of bicycle riders. They have the left lane on north bound of walk way. Check the sign on the pedestrian path before starting.

At Golden Gate National Park you will be impressed by the sweeping lawns that carry you down to the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco Bay. It's a fun place to hang out wrapped up from the coastal breeze and for kids to run around and play.

It's a must attraction if visiting San Francisco.

It's a must attraction if visiting San Francisco.
You can take good pics from both sides of the bridge but grounds for playing and sun bathing is on water level.
You need to bring your drinks and food if you are intending to stay for several hours as they there are no restaurants and cafes nearby.
There are people fishing around, and some others are just sun bathing.

From what I saw it was just an information center and gift shop. The staff was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas. I was lost and they gave me perfect directions on how to reach a vantage point worth breath taking views of the golden gate bridge

Hiked to Tennessee Beach. The trail started off paved and changed to dirt road. There was also a single track alternative for a portion of the trail. There seemed to be a good network of trails heading other places. I want to come back and explore. Encountered numerous runners, hikers, cyclists and even a couple of campers.

What a fantastic place. One must walk the entire bridge and also trek near by hills to see overall view. Hills can be reached by your car to view the city and golden gate bridge. Neatly maintained even after 80 years.

Strong breeze, sunny but cold. If you enjoy picnic, this is a good place with full view of bridge. There are plenty of parking spaces along the beach. Furthermore, there is no crowd to get a good picture!

Beautiful vistas are readily accessible everywhere...

Beautiful vistas are readily accessible everywhere around this park area. This is practically a must if you are visiting the city for the first time. Be careful about planning ahead for weather and traffic; fog or clouds render this site useless, as all you can see is a blanket over the city and bridge. If you are visiting on the weekend, you will likely get trapped in traffic for at least an hour, likely more. The turn offs are blocked by cones and rangers.

Insider tip: Enter on the bridge side - DO NOT try to go up the hill from the back side, it will leave you stranded. If you enter the main gate, one of the rangers will let you turn around if you decide the wait is too long for your visit

The park chronicles 200 years of history from Native American culture, Spanish Empire frontier, the Gold Rush, evolution of American coastal fortifications and growth of urban San Francisco. Comprised of 19 separate ecosystems and home to 1,273 plant/animal species, the park has hundreds of ways to recreate including horseback riding, ranger-led programs, bicycling, hiking and walking your dog.

Golden Gate Bridge was cool found out you're not supposed to be on it at night I was taking pictures of the city lights and they thought I was going to jump. What a bunch of dingleberries, but they were pretty nice fellas. They were just doing their job. It was pretty damn funny. I even got it on camera. Highly recommend you going between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. and stopping on the bridge and taking pictures if you want to see a good comedy Act. Them boys sure are quick but you got to love the fellas out there they're great. Keep up the good work guys. No hard feelings I'm the guy from Texas

We visited here as part of a tour with Big Bus Hop on Hop off buses. We stopped for photos and the views were amazing. It was part of a night tour as well so if your going in autumn or winter rug up as it's cold and windy when you cross the Golden Gate Bridge But you absolutely must sit upstairs to get the best views.
