I guess because they were setting up an exhibit so much of the space was unavailable and the Carravagio exhibit, which we did not want to pay to see took up another good bit, I was disappointed not to see more works. What we did see was well displayed and the layout is nice.

We went there on purpose to see the painting by Caravaggio which unfortunately for us is in London. It is not reported anywhere. We knew it after asking. The visit of the museum is however free. I report a painting by Van Gogh and the statue Amorino by Canova

Fantastic museum, great collection of Irish art on display (plus other European art). The Irish art is the highlight; you can see European art all over the world, but the concentration of Irish art is the draw here.

I love coming to the National Gallery. It's free/by donation with some special exhibits charging a small fee (these rotate). I love the Irish art on the first floor. It's a relaxing place to wander around.

There's a cafe (that serves lunch in addition to coffee and such) and a gift shop. The shop has a lot of postcards, some greeting cards, art books and supplies, children's toys, jewelry, ties and more. Definitely recommend a visit to this gallery.

Absolutely love this space since the refurbishment. A brilliant collection in a splendid building. Lose yourselves in the painting by Erskine Nicol on St Patrick's day and be sure to join their themed tours, like the LGBT+ one. An institution.

A gallery of national painting, brand new, and free, we do not balk! Some works may need deep restoration. Some interesting pieces among the Flemish (the Rembrandt on the other hand is really ... Minor).
All the works are explained and commented.

Lovely gallery with some fantastic artworks. They always have amazing exhibitions with very educated and knowledgeable staff, who are always more than willing to help. We went to see Canaletto and it was a lovely mid December activity. Only a handful of people in the exhibit at a time, which made the viewing very laid back and relaxing. Then you were free yo view to rest of the gallery at your ease. Only disappointment was the lack of prints available for Canaletto was quite the let down !
