Third time's a charm! Got to see the sloth come down and eat this time. That alone was worth the trip.
Was an awesome time to stand in each habitat with the birds free to do as they wished
Great place to spend a Sunday afternoon. We got to see the sloth actually move! We also enjoyed the free roaming birds throughout each exhibit.
Great place to spend the day especially with the family. All bird lovers should try the experience including feeding they offer.
A sweet spot for visiting with birds. It is, as others mention, small, but the cost for admission goes into care and upkeep for the birds and their health. Unlike a theme park, the aviary also serves as a clinic for treating animals who are unwell or who have been injured. As such, the extra cost for admission doesn't bother me. You'll be able to see tropical birds, penguins, and condors whose impressive wingspan extends almost seven feet. The birds also get to live in appropriate climate recreations so they act more like they're at home, which is nice to see.
This place was amazing a definite must see if your visiting Pittsburgh
Enjoyed our experience at the aviary. It was better than expected. Looking forward to another visit.
Great place for family. Kids friendly. Sloth is pretty cute over there.:-)
The aviary is amazing! The sea eagles are breathtaking, and paying extra for the encounters is totally worth it. Even though we are from out of state, we got a membership so we can come back!
Love the National Aviary. The only drawback is that the rainforest aspect was being renovated but it's going to be unreal when complete. Just gotta suck it up until then. Sloths are cool in the meantime.
Amazing free - flight bird show, very few places in this country to observe the relationships birds can establish after being rescued.
They have lots of birds here with out a long wait. You can feed them and a lot of interactions with the birds as well as feeding and shows. Good food at the snack bar to
Great place to see birds. Hundreds of birds including penguins & bald eagles. See photos, but much better IRL.
Really interesting place with hundreds of birds, but it is a little bit small for the price of admission.
The National Aviary was clean, organized, and the birds seemed healthy. However, we were through the entire place in an hour. The crew that were at exhibits didn t seem eager to share information about the birds. If you really love birds , it might be worth your time and money, but it wasn t for us.
This place is so great for a relaxing afternoon but also so educational. Their penguins and bald eagles alone are worth the trip. But they have a room with signing birds that fly right by you, and there is a large bird that greets you by one of the doors. When I get the chance I will be going back.
Good family trip. Busy but plenty of space to enjoy
Awesome exhibits and some interactive feeding opportunities. The staff is very knowledgeable about their feathered friends and you can tell great care is given.
Very nice but kinda small for the price and there disappointed there were only one pair of owls
I could sit for hours watching the penguins. And thanks to my daughter, I have.
Fun place to visit, if you get a chance check it out. Good experience
It was kind of expensive considering you can't feed the birds and the dining area is closed but it was fun
What an unbelievable way to consume a day at a very affordable amount.
Once inside they have many different rooms, Savannah, rain forest, and marsh provided a nice mixture. They had Penguins, and sea birds too.
The aviary is placed to over 600 birds representing extra than 200 species. It is an accurate size and it offers many extras that may excite the kids. Opportunities for hands-on experiences to feed the birds etc but for an additional cost to a ticket. I'm really looking forward to my next visit to the National Aviary!
Great time with two 6 year olds. Good cheese pizza.
Oh my! This was fantastic. What a great experience.
They have a very courteous and knowledgeable staff, and their exhibits are interactive and fun. It's a great spot to take the family, especially tye kids! y daughter fell in love with it. It's a must-do if your in Pittsburgh
Everyone was really nice and the birds were really cute!
Very kid friendly. We brought a one and a two year old and they had lots of fun
Really liked it. Went on a Tuesday not real busy. Friendly staff. Very clean. Great for the kids. Up close and personal with the birds.
A great and beautiful location. If you are visiting Pittsburgh, stop by.
Very interesting place to visit. I loved the grassland room. Very relaxing.
This was a very enjoyable place for my family and I. There were many interesting attractions such as a show where people fed the birds. There were many different birds of all sizes, and they were very impressive to me. Overall, this was a great experience. Highly recommended!!!
Went to pittsburgh for vacation decided to go see the Aviary. Worse place ever, nothing exciting about this place. Not happy about this at all.
Best enjoyed by patiently allowing the birds to reveal their beauty and personalities.
My son had a ton of fun, only problem was the size of the place for the price.
A unique place to take the kids for something fun to do. Lots of birds and activities for them to view and participate in. The staff is polite and knowledgeable about the wildlife. The gift shop is a tad overpriced but that seems to be on par with all of the other zoo/animal places in the surrounding areas. Parking is on site and convenient.
I can't thank you guys enough for the wonderful time and experience! I study Ornithology and I was so pleased to see all your birds being well taken care of AND flighted!
Awesome! General admission gets you into almost everything, including certain talks on exhibits. Staff are approachable and knowledgeable. Not a lot of parking.
Very fun and new for the kids to be so close to the different birds. They even have a sloth (3 to be exact). They have an awesome VR flight simulator called birdly. It's fun for all ages. I'd recommend for a family visit to Pittsburgh.
Some outdoor
Some indoor
You can feed exotic birds
Watch Eagles being fed
Many educational opportunities
Very cool
Fun for all ages
A terrific, small, family outing! There is plenty to see, especially with little ones where a long zoo visit might be a bit too much. A lot of fun. Both my sons love watching the birds especially in the immersive exhibits.
A wonderful place to visit for the whole family! The penguins are the best.
We had a great experience! Loved feeding Beatrice and crawling around the tube under the penguins. Next time we want to try the virtual flight.
I love it here so I finally became a member! They really improved over the years and I love the penguin exhibit, you can get up close! Some exhibit area are free flight which allow for some great photos. There are a lot of great educational opportunities and some neat "I didn't know that" things. I always learn or see something new when I visit.
A cute aviary for all, the flight simulator is worth the upgrade we did it as adults !!! The bird are gorgeous bring your camera!
A couple of really nice exhibits, but somewhat on the small side.
I'm pretty sure my daughter is going to work here someday. Got to watch the penguins being fed which was cool.
I went to the penguin camp there, absolutely amazing! UwU
Love the Aviary so much! You can always plan on having a great day there.
Love this place. Such great people for such a great cause! Totally worth doing the sloth and penguin experience! The food was fantastic got the Greek salad. For the price totally worth it.
All kinds of different birds and staff is knowledgeable
Small, but a lot of fun, with birds in every corner and some that come very close. If you are willing to shell out the money, the penguin encounter is very cool.
Definitely try the VR machine.
And I loved the crow that helped out with the donations. I honestly wasn't going to give anything until we were told that he would be collecting the money and putting it in the box. Brilliant!
I just thought it was nice! I didn't get to see my Bald Eagle because they don't have a lot of room, but I will.
Not bad, but in my opinion, a little bit pricey for the size and amount of time one would likely spend here.
I took my son here, he really enjoyed it and so did I.
Such a lively place to visit. Easy to see everything in a few hours or emerse yourself in all things aviary for several hours.
We had a fun family day. Birds make me a little nervous, but it was really neat to have them so close and interactive. I felt like I was in Birdbox.
Saphira and the Toucans stole the show. Feed the Toucans. They are beautiful.
Great place to take your kids. Lots of stuff to see. We had a great time.
I was surprised how much i enjoyed the National Aviary. Many opportunities to see a variety of species of birds. Splurge a little and feed the toucans. They are adorable and make for a great memory. Go to the roof for a bird of prey demonstration. The trainer is knowledgeable and the show will not disappoint.
A fantastic bird watching experience at a reasonable price. They have a good variety of birds in interactive exhibits as well.
So many birds! There is a room with a bunch of tiny birds, and they'll just fly right past your face, it is a pretty immersive bird experience. I could sit in that little bird room all day.
During my visit, I witnessed the staff taking a baby crane on a walk (super cute) as well as a fruit bat feeding procedure.
Tons of fun for the whole family, or anyone who is interested in birds
