NAIT is becoming a leader more than ever. Diversity, serious educational credentials and seemingly great attitude and willingness to work with students. My daughter has attended University of Alberta and NAIT and told me that the instructor was very interested in what she's looking for in a future occupation. Practical and useful is what I like so far!

The 1 star is for Russell the head of the automotive dept. The guy is a terrible instructor. Does not know how to teach whatsoever. Just reads out of modules and very vague with his explanations. It's beyond me how NAIT has a dept head as one of their instructors. Trying to complain or voice my grievances was near impossible when you want to tell the truth but risk being put on the hot seat with him being your instructor. The automotive dept needs new leadership. But on a side note, Kevin & Dan are 2 of the best instructors at NAIT. Wish i could have had them for the whole course.

I attended NAIT for the Medical Laboratory Assistant program in 2017 and I am currently attending for the Medical Laboratory Technology program. Overall, I would say that NAIT is an excellent school for seeking employment afterwards, and they are certainly hands on teaching you what you will be doing on the job. The instructors for those specific programs are really great and passionate.

However, I will be honest and say that every year without fail, I have had multiple issues with admissions and/or tuition. Many times I have been mislead by administrative staff and gotten the short end of the stick. Just recently, I had to pay this semesters tuition on my credit card with short notice because one of the staff at the student service centre told me I didn t need to pay since I had credit tuition on my file. Only to find out that they mailed me a check which I never got!! Make sure that when you are dealing with anyone you get their name, position, and documentation of what they say. Do not accept verbal information, make sure you get written/email copies, and escalate your issues to a higher up if they keep brushing you off.

Extremely poor service, people are rude and interrupt constantly. They also take applications knowing there are no spots available and pocket the funds. What there doing for online registration is basically fruad. Take your money, even though the class your interested is full for over a year, and Nait has zero intention of even offering the applicant the course. Then refuses refund or offering an alternative start date. Nait doesn't inform, and is scamming students. Up yours Nait. Who owns you Trump? When I called regarding this, they said it's a 3rd party and there not responsible, who hired or who is the 3rd party acting for, Nait? The list of excuses listed from phone staff, must of come from internal memo, or staff meeting. Staff also refused managements contact information as well as people in charge of policy's.

Coca cola's in places in Africa that has no clean water. So don't be fooled! Shame on you nait for monetizing youth's values. Banks solicit here too. And they have a gambling station next to the book store. They don't care for students or instructors. They say the right things but we know what runs in their veins. It isn't your children's education, this is certain.

I have taken many courses at NAIT and am quite pleased with the quality of instructors and variety of courses, however, I have had bad experiences with NAIT when I am owed a refund. Many NAIT courses, such as their apprenticeship courses, require you to pay up front at the time of scheduling. Due to the nature of apprenticeship training apprentices are frequently required to cancel their course or reschedule due to employer requests and personal reasons. Payments are taken automatically, and are swiftly processed, but refunds take over 8 weeks. If you do not continually contact NAIT they will forget about you and will not process the refund. When contacting their student service wait times by phone are usually over an hour and the online chat options are not nearly as helpful; they usually offer laconic replies and do not even attempt to resolve you issue.
Considering the high volume of students and high quality of service that they advertise, they are quick to take payment and will resist issuing refunds when they are due. The level of neglect I have experienced trying to get refunds in the past has made it feel as though they truly intend to keep your money if you do not persistently hound them. Therefore, overall, I strongly urge students and future students to consider other options before giving NAIT their money.

Finished my first year so far and it's been awesome. I'm taking the DMIT program and I've not had a problem with any of the instructors yet, it's clear what we're expected to do and they give us the knowledge to do it.

I completed my Business Admin - HR diploma through NAIT and had nothing but issues. Most (not all) of the instructors were uninterested and wouldn't give you the time of day if you asked. I have had nothing but issues trying to get documents. They take days to reply to emails. I had medical issues as well as mental ones that I tried to explain to them and get them to be a little more understanding and they did not care whatsoever. I would definitely not recommend NAIT for Business Admin.

I absolutely love this place. About a year ago, I was told by my doctor that I would never be able to go to school. And here I am now, getting excited every morning to take the bus there, achieving over 90% in all my courses! It's all thanks to the amazing NAIT staff, really. They have been very helpful throughout the last year, and NAIT's stand on inclusiveness and diversity made me feel welcome and normal. If I ever have a problem, there's always someone to talk to, it's really just a matter of looking out for all the resources. There are so many things to do for the students and programs to help the students that are not even used much, which is a shame - if you ever need help, don't just give up, ask someone for help. There's no shame in it and you'll accomplish more than you ever thought you could.

Graduated from CNT & BAIST. The former is one of the hardest programs, but you're guaranteed ready for nitty-gritty real-world programming or business analysis. Most of the instructors were good and challenging. Inexpensive tuition with quality education. Great technical institute!

The infrastructure of The institute is really impressive. Moreover there are many students in this institute starting different different kinds of all subjects. There are wide range of courses available here. Furthermore there a lot of recreational activities. A student never get bored here. In addition to this there are many clubs which do a lot of activities. So, Northern Alberta institute of technology is such a place where you can do anything you want. The teachers are very helpful and understanding. They are very cooperative and experienced. There is a pool and a gym Ave this is free to all the students.

Amazing school. Instructors are all well trained, thorough, and offer help after hours if needed. Campus is large but easy to navigate. Classes aren't too large and there's plenty of extra stuff to do on campus as well. Good selection of food and ammenities.

I was trying to find a school and it is a bit tric...

I was trying to find a school and it is a bit tricky and confusing. so first I went to grant macewan, When I went there to ask about some course and tell them what requirement that I have and I don't have and what will happen, they ask me to look for my information online and guide me trough a step by step online (something that I already know). The information they provided did not help me at all. only 1 advice I take: they ask me to go to NAIT or Metro for upgrading, so I did go to NAIT.
at NAIT I went to the student service centre and they give me a step by step for what I need to do, what am I going to expect, and what happen if I don't have the requirement. they give me an information which is make me understand more and answer my questions.
I take 2 night course in NAIT, the instructor is funny and give you lot's of example to make you understand more about what you are studying.
the moodle is also great. I am glad I take a course in NAIT.

Excellent place to get an education that will help you get a job in your field. LRT helps make the commute easy, retail meat shop is outstanding. All the staff in my program were very professional, intelligent, and caring. Coming here as a student was a great decision for me, I wish I did it earlier!

I agree with the person who made the extensive post as I had experienced a lot of the same things there 24 years ago. Nobody with good intentions while attending that school should ever have to be experiencing the ordeals I had to endure there and am quite appalled that this is still going on. What a shame!

A technical school with an emphasis solidly on voc...

A technical school with an emphasis solidly on vocational training. The campus life is almost non-extistant as people are only there to get training to get a job, not to get an education.
Having attended two trades programs here and spoken to students and faculty in several departments I'd give NAIT a solid middling rating. Some programs and years are better than others as the school struggles to hire and keep competent intructors and develop course material. The predominant atmosphere is mildly authoritarian and slightly ignorant, but some faculty members are more enlightened than others. Some instructors really know their stuff and others bumble along leaving a wake of stressed students trying to find a way to learn what they need to know.
The gym is well equipped, the pool is large and open early, there's a hockey rink and a hockey team, and there are good cafeterias scattered around the place. Lots of perks.

Their online programs are a scam, stay away and do it through another university. NAIT charged me an application fee, I sent them my transcripts which they did nothing with it and then told me my application was cancelled. They made no effort to contact me about any of this. Don't waste your time or money with this school.

For international students, my humble request to you do not trust ever to this college, i got admission into it and somehow my visa is rejected it s ok but college is not giving my fees back. I had put lots of mails and inquiries to college but it s just water under bridge. My one semester hole fee is gone and they are refusing to give me back also they said you are late for course withdrawal form. So international students be aware this happens to you next and your semester fees can go just like that....totally injustice and inappropriate in terms of students.

You need to update your top 50 alumni page and remove the Murderer Mark Twittchill from your list of top 50 alumni. It tarnishes the image of NAIT. I would like to see NAIT replace their top 50 alumni with another alumni.

I have attempt to get 3 diplomas and 1 certificate...

I have attempt to get 3 diplomas and 1 certificate form NAIT and never succeed due to Staff harassment, bulling, ignoring Alberta OH &S, human right violations, and not teaching what is in the curriculum either taking stuff out or putting stuff in.

College Prep 2006 2 semesters, 2006
Power Engineering Tec 3 semester, 2007
Alternative Energy 1 semester, 2017
Instrumentation 3 semester,2017
CNC Machining certificate 1 semester, 2019

If I was some looking into a college, I would not go to this one, I filed several grievances and when they became sever and negative things were happening to me they were just ignored. I am only going to talk about my last program, CNC Machining certificate, as it what caused me never go back to this institution.

I should point out I did work as a power engineer for about 10 years and was able to obtain my 3rd class ticket. That where my knowledge of OH&S came from.

I notified staff on no less that 14 separate occasions about eye wash stations, there was no inspection date on them and all had at least 10mm layer of grime, and one was half full. The only thing that was fix was some one wrote a date on them.
Lack of industrial hygiene
- Staff not wear PPE as set down by NAIT and Alberta OH&S
- Staff eating McDonalds cheese burgess in shop while operational
- Not giving manufacture manual on equipment
- Grinding beside flammables
- Using compressed air in an open space
- Having student service, the equipment with out any procedure

Human right violations

This program also had human right violations. The labs are so full of machinery that will not let you bring your book bag or winter cloths into the lab. They also have not provided you with adequate storage for your PPE in general. This was the only lab I had been to at the NAIT that operates like that. What happen when there is a fire and I must leave the building and NAIT is known to have fires form time to time. I have out go out side and face the elements with out any PPE just because of lack of space. Build a bigger building!

Bulling

I was told by the program head safety is relative and if it does not kill you, you do not to wear the PPE as set out by NAIT and Alberta OH&S. I was then told to shut in the lab by him when I was tell my lab
partner a story form my power engineering day s about changing my PPE, 5 times, during a morning inspection. I talk to NAIT resolution center, but the Craig Wheaton just covered everything up. And my next course of resolution is Alberta law courts.

If I were to choses a college I would look as the success rate for people that started the program at day 1 to finishes. Not on their placement rate of graduates, NAIT does not give you that stat. Anything is else misleading information as it does not capture everything what is happening. My Alternative energy and instrumentation diploma had high drop out rate. Why? Fraud or misleading Infor. NO word of a lie, Web site does not match what the instructor are saying. If you want to be successful in these courses every hour of instruction time equal 1 hr of study time., and the web site lies about that.

Hope this helps you in you choses on attending to NAIT!

Culinary Arts student here. Well worth the experience and amazing instructors with a lot of experiences in the trade.

And don't forget you can save a lot of money by purchasing the kit somewhere else or get the equipment individually. Including the clothes can be purchase at Chef's Hat. You'll be told this later on.

Well, it's a college for one, and I guess that it's also nation-wide renowned, so that's all pretty cool. Ah, who am I kidding, this is one of the best (granted, the only one) colleges i've ever had the pleasure in learning under! It's got a full sized pool, two NAIT owned restaurants (and numerous other fast food places), tons of arcade machines scattered throughout the place; this school ain't lacking anything! Yeah, I'd give this place a solid 10 outta 10

I applied to nait just before all this covid19 craziness started i went to school in ontario and the U.S unfortunatelly my transcripts only show how many credits i brought from my schooling in the US and the courses i took in grade 12 in Ontario to prove my ELP(english language proficiency). I couldnt come up with my transcripts from the U.S bc LIKE most cities and countries, schools are close so thats their excuse to not help me whatsoever in this process... i mean these obstacles are way out of my control... anyway i just wasted $115 on this application and 20 minutes writing this review..... i cant say its an awful school but all i can say its that they took my money and left me hanging with no real genuine help. They didn't even deferred my application for the summer or fall...my experience was awful...

Fantastic business marketing course - at least it was back in '94 when I took it. I have personally benefited from the education I received here, the course was intense (but worth every minute), the instructors knowledgeable and relevant, and I came away with real actionable skills used everyday in my current business life. Highly recommend this education institute.

Great school, great instructors, good class sizes, extracurricular activities and awesome learning experience, EXCEPT when you have to deal with anything online with them. Absolutely the worst school website I have ever witnessed in my entire life. NOTHING works when you need it to. You could honestly pay some 16 year old highschool kid taking Computer Science 10 to make a better website for the NAIT Portal. It looks like it was developed on a flip phone from 1995. Every time I have to register for classes I feel like it would be more productive for me to beat my head against a concrete wall all day instead. For a school named "Northern Alberta Institute of TECHNOLOGY" you'd think they could have payed more than $0.75 for a web developer. I'm 450% sure that a first year Web Design student could make a more intuitive website.

Been a million years since I went, but the recent grads I've seen have all had that NAIT touch in common: practical knowledge and quick to get into the real world and start working. Some of the equipment may be ancient, but that's how it is in the real world too.

Avoid taking trades here. It sucks. The system sucks, their teaching style and their instructors suck. You guys want real good education experience for trades? Go to Lakeland College. The difference is nig and day with these two facilities. The instructors actually do lectures, finish labs as a class so no one falls behind, they actually go over and beyond to help you. They even stay after school to help you understand. If you need extra help beyond that, the college pays a tutor for you and you get 40+ hours or more if you need. Trust me, they dont have this ridiculous 90% nonsense at Lakeland and treat you like human beings, not numbers.

it's a really good college.... only bad thing is trying calling them and you'll never get through. I just finished calling them and the machine said I was "1st in line" so I was happy about that but when I am "1st in line" for 25 minutes is really poor communications on NAIT's part. I never got my problem solved I just hung up, nobody helped me. This also happened to me I called before maybe 4 weeks ago and I was 7th in line then I moved to 5th in line in about an hour to pay for my course and I hung up again, then 3 days later NAIT called me saying I owe them money, it's like they don't care about your questions unless when it comes to money... I am their top priority. I've taken course at NAIT it's a great place but terrible terrible phone services not everybody can drive to NAIT pay for parking just to ask a question.

poor.

NAIT: A Leader in Technical Training and Applied Education

The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, commonly known as NAIT, is a polytechnic institute located in Edmonton, Alberta. Established in 1962, NAIT has been providing technical training and applied education to students for over five decades. With a focus on hands-on learning and practical experience, NAIT has become one of the leading institutions for technical education in Canada.

NAIT offers over 140 programs across six different schools: Business, Health and Life Sciences, Skilled Trades, Applied Sciences and Technology, Continuing Education and Corporate Training. These programs range from certificates to diplomas to degrees. The institute also offers apprenticeship training for various trades such as electricians, plumbers and carpenters.

These include academic advising services which help students plan their course schedules; career services which provide job search assistance; counselling services which offer mental health support; financial aid options including scholarships; housing options on campus or off-campus apartments near campus.

NAIT's commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed by industry leaders or accrediting bodies. In fact it was ranked #1 among Canadian polytechnics by Research Infosource Inc., an independent research firm specializing in science & technology policy analysis & evaluation.

Overall if you're looking for an institution that provides high-quality technical education with a focus on practical experience then look no further than NAIT!
