For some reason, it is not surprising to me that there are so many reviews about this museum in Russian :) The museum is really good, but since I am not a connoisseur of painting in the New Age, I liked the Egyptian hall most of all. Of all the collections that I saw, here is the largest. There are sarcophagi and steles of different periods (which is valuable, because you can see how the hieroglyphic writing has changed in different eras). The collection of medieval painting is also very good: firstly, there are many paintings of this period, secondly, they are typical - you can simply take and learn from them the art of the Middle Ages. And there is a very large collection of various coins - just a godsend for coin collectors.

The museum is great, the way the pieces of art are exposed is just perfect. The audio guide is well done and there are loads of masterpieces. I really enjoyed my visit and I went back few days afterwards cause it was host too good

A superb quiet location with a green area planted with trees in the city center. This place deserves a good place to rest in this peaceful location. Lush greenery in the city. Address to know but not to spread too much to continue to enjoy this tranquility.

Beautiful museum arranged on 3 floors and rich of a beautiful fair setting. The outdoor garden is a haven of peace in the heart of the city. The perspective on the fountain of Terreaux is just exceptional. The place is well laid out, however, as some other speakers said, there is a lack of "life" somewhere and I think an innovation would be welcome. Maybe a discreet musical theme in each room would be a plus, really a plus ...
The works are interesting, however again, it lacks "major" works to give a real dimension and identity to the Museum, which as a whole remains quite "tasteless" .... The city of Lyon deserves much better!
Another small downside, a part is "reserved" for works of MAC ... it's really a shame! It would be better to enrich the places of more important works and to dress the whole of a little of "madness" cultural.
Nice place, but it is absolutely necessary to put it back to the norms of a society which evolves a little too fast, certainly, but which aspires to a little more innovation even in the "field" of the realistic classic.
I hope the message will be heard ... Lyon deserves a lot better especially with millions of tourists who want to be "surprised" by what the city has to offer.

Magnificent collection but without staging with catastrophic lighting ... how do you want the neophyte public to want to visit such a sad museum space! Access to art must be dusted so that young and old can discover from our decimated collections of our museums Art with a capital A. And this mixes culture, curiosity, pleasure and fun. very unfortunate that the city of Lyon did not understand that it has a duty of "education in Culture" and that it would be necessary to restore its brilliance to its collections by installing them in a more current setting in order to arouse more curiosity and attract new audiences (especially young audiences)

St Pierre chapel is open to the public with the installation of statues of statues from the 19th century. The batistere was walled up ... restored it shines!
The cloister and its arcades surround a garden: peace and calm in the heart of the city center

European painting, check. Egyptian, check. Guimard furniture, check. Medals, check. Picasso, check. Medieval sculpture, check. Monet, check. Puvis de Chavannes, check. Finding your way around, not so easy. The brochure doesn't help. Want to visit certain galleries on the first floor between 1230 and 2 PM, probably not. It's an impressive collection, with many masterworks from all ages and cultures, but a city like Lyon should invest a little more on this public treasure. A great city like Lyon deserves to have a great art museum, and this one has the potential (the collections) to become one but it's not quite there.

CATASTROPHIC WELCOME ... I wanted to visit this museum ... at the ticket office by chance I see on a screen that the rooms of the 20th century are closed so goodbye Dufy etc ... But nobody warns you at the counter .. As for the reduced rate if you are not taxable it is ubuesque! I am not taxable and have benefited from a tax credit of 17 so my tax on my sheet is -17 and we refuse you the reduced rate because the amount must be zero no less something ... I tried to explain but nothing to do you are in front of a wall ... so I left ... Another public service which only has the name and in which we user are treated as next to nothing !

A very beautiful provincial museum, superbly renovated and in an old ... magnificent setting!

The chapel, now a sculpture room, is magnificent!

You can enjoy free access to the garden and have lunch at the restaurant La Terrasse on the first floor without being a visitor to the museum.

Temporary exhibitions also allow you to discover the rest of the museum, tickets between 8 and 12 euros depending on the discounts granted. Closed on Tuesday.

I have done it many times since my adolescence and with my studies (applied arts, plastic arts) it is a very pleasant museum which is never crowded, air conditioned. The collection is eclectic, from Egypt to the More

The museum is very beautiful on the outside and inside, has a beautiful and peaceful garden where it is possible to rest and enjoy the beauty. The museum has many archeological and historical pieces. It is worth knowing.

As an archeological museum it is not bad, but when you go to a museum of Fine Arts you expect to find paintings and / or sculptures. The best of the museum are the cloister gardens, for which there is no need to pay the entrance fee.

Take your time to see everything.
I like the garden too, a quiet place to think a little, where you will look at beautiful statues; in addition, it is free to enter
