An upscale hotel with modern and functional rooms in an old building with its own charm. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. I felt comfortable here.

Great hotel and gorgeous reception area full of character as befits the building.
I had the School/Department Ball here. The whole set up was spectacular indeed. The food was excellent, although the staff were not that friendly (especially the waitresses).
Great staff service & hospitality
Excellent location
Good breakfast spread
afternoon tea here was lovely and very accomodating to vegan diets (the coronation tempeh finger sandwich was delicious!). the staff were extremely friendly. the whole experience was unbeatable
Old world spleandor. Still the best hotel lob y in Manchester
Came here only for a cup of coffee. Really enjoyed the experience and the Onos historic building.
Interesting architecture. Good staff members. mantence needed in the corridors where the selling is low
Plush hotel. Beautiful room on 6th floor. Lounge area with tv, sofa and 2 easy chairs. 2nd tv in bedroom area. ESPA toiletries.
Friendly staff lovely breakfast. Only negative was system for ordering cooked eggs, hash browns which didnt really coordinate with hot buffet.
Excellent location.
.
very polite and respectfull staff good place to stay
Nice hotel. Breakfast is average, room is fine shower a bit cool and in spite of following the instructions can't make any warmer.
I had the meeting room booked at the Midlands hotel and we did not have the projector however the manager and staff were extremely helpful and got things organised for us very quickly.
Attended a conference there. Very convenient location, close to car parks, excellent facilities.
Bed sheets were dirty with makeup, showers were cold all night and found out a week after I stayed that I had been doubled charged .
When I complained to management they refunded the breakfast and also cherry on the cake they offered to give me a discount if I wished to stay again.
So they re idea of amending the situation was to offer me the chance to give the hotel more money.
But hey at least I had a comfy bed when they replaced the sheets.
Terrible! Do not waste your money here it s not even a 1star.
Very nice to just stop and have a quiet drink. Table service and prices not overly extravagant compared to the rest of Manchester
Best night of my life highly recomended. Staff made sure my stay was perfect
Great location
Comfy rooms
The hotel room was very clean and had everything you needed. Hotel staff were friendly. In a good area close to everything.
Lovely experience, room did not have aircon but had a fan instead. Breakfast in the morning at Mr Coopers was amazing too, will definitely be back.
Went to an event here with work, fantastic place, very grand and superb food!
Our experience was less than perfect, with service seeming to be distracted by guests and cleaning our table of the previous guest only after requesting so and asking to be served (about 10 minutes of waiting), even thought they said they would send someone to do so as we entered.
Good food and drink though.
Wonderful service and friendly staff as always at a Manchester Institution x
Entrance hall and octagon bar are not what they once were.
Tea in the Octagon Room! What an experience! What service! I don't use the word "exquisite" often (or exclamations), but this is exquisite!
Went for a work celebration. Excellent service and environment.
Very beautiful building, the rooms are comfortable, the bathrooms are very beautiful, and it is easy to get to the city center, although there is no nightlife in Manchester
Although it's a fantastic place, I do find it overpriced.
Polite and very professional staff. The only thing that spoilt my visit was the arrogant guests that we present during my visit.
A grand and impressive hotel. Everything is of a high standard, but rooms could be better tailored to modern travellers. A socket next to a bed is a must and this was lacking. Breakfast was excellent. Staff all very friendly and helpful.
I went to Mr Cooper's restaurant in the Midland for dinner. The restaurant is very spacious and has a modern style. The large room can be noisy at times, but the food and staff are excellent.
We had a superb nine course meal at The French. The food and service were both excellent.
Beautiful building, friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast! Well placed in Manchester for food and sight-seeing.
Great staff look after you very well. Drinks very expensive. Good food
Wow, fabulous hotel and spa and the food is amazing. Loved it here.
Older style railway hotel in the centre of Manchester. Thoughtfully refurbished some years ago and showing age in places. Very difficult to access by road, easier by public transport. Some parking available for guests at a price. Good service.
Attended the Midlands for a work meeting. As always, very impressed with both the hotel and the service
Fantastic venue, catering, service and facilities were top knotch.
Convenient location. Breakfast spread was OK. Friendly staff
Great hotel. Went for afternoon tea. Serving staff were really FANTASTIC. Food was delicious. Only reason for four stars was they forgot to serve us our scones and we waited and waited. Finally we asked for them and they were hard and very dry as had been warming in the oven way too long. It happens!
Lovely venue for a professional event. Loved the food.
The place itself is incredibly nice looking and the service was good. The only thing I would say could be improved was the food.
Nice, looking a bit tired tho. Bit steep on prices for what's on offer.
Wow! Just beautiful, the room the food it was all gorrrgeous! Veggie option on a deal, nothing too much trouble here
It was my graduation and j went to the Midlands for robing and photos.
It was well organised and efficient.
I think the Midlands itself is a beautiful building that is ideally located in the centre of Manchester.
Good service, great scones but sandwiches and desserts weren't fabulous! And also slower service to get to table and also pay for the afternoon tea possibly due to Covid as in shortage of staff.
Great location, and a very grand art deco interior. However, it's quite expensive, and the reakfast staff were disorganised and a bit unhelpful.
Over priced for the offering. Rooms @ Marriott Victoria & Albert much better at less than half the price!
Had a vegan afternoon tea here for my birthday, it was beautiful. They were very catering, replaced the bone China with vegan friendly crockery. There was even vegan champagne. My favourite part has to have been the sandwiches, really tasty bread varieties and very creative fillings. Good value for money and perfect service. I will definitely go again.
Very nice hotel . Help full staff and the drinks prices were quite cheap for a posh hotel .
Lovely looking hotel. Unfortunately the AC wasn't working in my room so the friendly staff at reception moved me to the only remaining room, which was a twin. They were very apologetic and gave me a free bar voucher (which unfortunately I didn't have time to use)
Very nice hotel, rooms smart with modern decor. Excellent breakfast
