It's a 210 years old heritage building. Use to be the house of Governor General of Sri Lanka in British Era. I loved visiting this place. Do try their food at the Governor's Restaurant. The view their is amazing.
We didn't stay here, but we had a quick stop off to see the view. It's amazing what you can see from the hotels area.

Hotel was beautiful,but food was absolutely terrible.Many people,including my family, was left vomitting for days.Definetly not original Sriankan food. If you want a proper experience of srilankan cusine, this is the last place recommended. High time Chef Pubilis retires...

I am in awe of this place. It is absolutely beautiful. Well tended grounds. Perfect people. Excellent employees who cannot do enough for you. The food is completely brilliant. Well presented and cooked to perfection. The buffet is mind boggling and is extremely good value for money once you get your head around the exchange rate. The manager is first rate. You can wonder and explore the beauty if the Mount Lavinia Hotel and marvel at the history; you can laze by the pool doing nothing or organise a trip to wherever you want to go. What a place. You like seafood, freshly caught prepared and cooked to your liking, then seafood cove is for you. Cosmopolitan atmosphere from all corners of the globe. I cannot praise or rate this place highly enough. If you can come along and visit please do. Absolutely brilliant!

Mount Lavinia was governor house during the time of Brtitish rule & later converted in to hotel, Old & heritage property overall experience was really good , most of rooms have sea views from balconies you can enjoy sunset & on the night of full moon you can also enjoy moon set in Indian Ocean, one more very good thing is that Mount Lavinia has their private beach which is very clean & beautiful. If we talk about food, so good options for non vegetarians and it can be very good experience fo fish lovers.

The pool terrace was fantastic with a nice jazz band from Europe performing. Good food and drink options. A very relaxed environment. Some of the servers are excellent and professional.

We didn't stay the night but were there for a wedding. There was ample parking available and the A/C was cranked up high which was nice for the July wedding. Below is the pick of the Governor's rooftop where the ceremony took place.
Very nice hotel, well located, close to Colombo and its airport, ideal for a beginning of stay or an end ... Very good buffets, spacious air-conditioned room, very good bedding. Service at the top. The evenings are lively, without doing too much. I recommend !

Beautiful colonial hotel just south of the city on the coast. There is a Keels supermarket about800m away and tuk tuks standing near the gates. Convenient to pick up a few cookies and supplies for snacks. We enjoyed the afternoon teas at the pool and the fantastic line and mint juices by the gallon. Great staff who couldn t do enough to meet your requirements. Highly recommend for a lovely treat.

Spent 2 weeks here for work and the family joined along. Hotel service was spectacular, booked in a babysitter and enjoyed a few nights out. Perfect. Private beach and the best seafood restaurant we have found in Sri Lanka right on the water. Housekeeping and room service treated us well. Cant complain waking up to the sound of the waves every morning, amazing. We will stay here again.
A few things could be improved with the room. We had a suite that was quite large and worked well for the family but it is in bad need of an update. The bathroom tub was cracked, tile in bad shape, shower curtain rod was mounted too close so if you shower its constantly stuck to your shoulders, hot water was hit or miss, bad smell coming from the bathroom floor drain pipe occasionally. The wood floors have many loose boards. TV in the living room didnt really work, probably a bad connection.
Complaints are silly things that make dont impact your stay but make you think "if they fixed these few things it would be a 5 star hotel". We were really happy and will return again.
