Great place to stay! Micro rooms make for an interesting stay in New York City. Very hip and stylish hotel. Two bars with great cocktails but pricey. 16-250$ each. Yes. 250$ but it's New York. What do you expect. Great rooftop bar with mini More

I was in town for work for a few days, This hotel was not what I expected . First room I was in my girlfriend got bit by something on her legs . Then they offered to move us to a different room . New room was fine until we turned the ac on sounded like there some type of construction bieng made with the sounds that was coming out of it . Besides that you can only have the ac on 68 . I was sweating in my sleep because it would blow air when it felt like it told front desk they said all the ac unit are put to 68 besides that it has a motion sensor so when your sleeping it would turn off by itself the guy that came and helped was very helpful but really couldn t do much . if I would of known that I wouldn t even be able to control my ac temperature I would of never booked a room with them . Never offered no discount for my girl getting bit by some type of bug . When you try to call room service with the room phone no one picks up . Thought this was going to be a good choice . Thought wrong .

Fab hotel, great location. All the staff were friendly and helpful (bit odd seeing interviews for new recruits going on in the bar though). Just be prepared for the minute bedrooms, stylish but tiny! Would definitely stay here again.

TLDR there's cool stuff about this hotel but I wouldn't stay here again and probably wouldn't recommend it

The good:

- Housekeeping is super polite, thorough and helpful
- The walk-in showers are spacious and fun, and the showerheads specifically are great
- It's close to Times Square, and great ramen, bagel, and pizza places. It's walking and cycling distance to a massive variety of things--10-15 minute bike to Central Park, two minute walk to the giant Macy's, etc
- It's quirky and fun. There's a lot of style to the place. Its branding and design is really well done. Everything is set up to look and photograph well. If you're into Instagram or other social media this place would probably be fun for you.
- The Stash is a closet on each floor with extra towels and supplies, also an ironing board and a mini fridge
- I liked the many hooks on the wall! It keeps all your stuff visible and easy to find. We had a couple of coat hangers in our room too for things we didn't want to get wrinkled. Also, rooms have a steamer.
- It's pretty affordable for the location!

The not so much:

- Elevators are super confusing at first, and they weren't explained well to me. I saw several people struggling with them throughout the week so at some point communication breakdown is happening. Also, should elevators need an explanation...?
- Breakfast was provided for us. The line is long but it moves pretty fast. It's buffet style, but there's a lack of fruit and a lot of the food (eggs, bread, sausage, juice) is strangely tasteless. The breakfast didn't make me want to try the Legasea restaurant in which it was served at any other point in the day
- Sinks in the rooms are only a few inches deep, which isn't an issue until you try to wash or rinse something in them
- The rooms are tiny, which was fine, but there wasn't a lot of places to put stuff. A shelf or something would be nice
- There's a club on the roof, yes. This is probably a con for people who aren't into clubs on the roofs of their hotels. Bring earplugs or check out the Stash on your floor where they're provided
- There's perfume pumped into the lobby and probably the elevators. At first this really bothered me, even though I'm not especially scent-sensitive--it made me sneeze and cough. I imagine the purpose is to associate a trendy scent with the hotel, like you'd associate a perfume with a friend. I did get used to it over the week, but I might have had to leave if I were more sensitive to odors--it's a lot.

Verdict: The hotel is funky and there's a lot of cool things about it, but I wouldn't stay here again and I probably wouldn't recommend it.

10 beautiful ny days in this hotel which for a young couple is practically perfect. Modern furnishings and super strategic position. Roof top bar with empire view. Hearty American breakfast. Great dinner restaurant. The only negative note the rooms do not smell fresh, probably due to the poor ventilation.

Terrible breakfast, very bad room service, no soaps, no small fridge to put water or other food that one would carry, no microwave, in short, it was a very bad time for a very nice place ..

That is why my Rating is Two stars.

The only good thing they have is cozy and the place is central, close to everything .....

Loved my stay here! The rooms are indeed small, but they are designed perfectly! Good bed, nice shower, nice to have netflix and good wifi etc. The fitness is small but everything you need and very clean (and free for hotel guests!). We were offered breakfast vouchers 'cause of some issues occurred with our reservation so that was very polite and nice to offer! The hairconditioner is btw amazing . The location is also just terrific!! You have 3 big metro stations close by so you can get anywhere really quick! The only little minor inconvenience was the manager (?) Of the bar on the second floor where breakfast is served. He asked us quite rude where we've got those breakfast vouchers from since apparently they were the wrong colour. I explained him that they were offered to us during check-in and he went to "check it out". When he came back he gave us new ones in the correct colour and just said (on a bit of a rude way) : "use these one in the future, the other ones we don't use anymore!"
He didn't even apologise and gave us a vibe that it was our fault that we were given the wrong vouchers? Very impolite. (I think this was Wednesday 02/06)
But overall a terrific spot to stay when exploring New York! Can't wait to come back!

It's pretty much been problem since I started staying here. Issues with keys not being programmed correctly, staff completely unable to provide any information about the local neighborhood, housekeeping that would still be in my room when I got back from work and I would have to wait in the hallway until they finished if they even showed up at all that day. Rooms are cleaned Decorah School but it really doesn't feel like a hotel I should be staying that or like I'm being catered to with the elite status.

Very disappointed, on the website the hotel looked great, indeed in terms of style and atmosphere it is nice, but I didn't like it because when you enter the hotel there is loud music, it stinks the scent and there are a lot of people who are not from the hotel who come to enjoy the bar, so it is very loud.
It is wrong to pay more than 2,000 per week for a room that is barely 10 square meters, you cannot go around the bed, where you can hear the music from the entrance hall which is loud , where cleaning has only been done twice, where the air conditioning makes too much noise to sleep with and suddenly we sleep very badly because it is too hot.
So certainly the staff is very pleasant, I have no complaints on this point, but there is a problem with the price of the stay and the quality of the service, moreover we paid on the day of departure, and it was planned to pay 1,600 for two people, but we had an exorbitant amount of taxes and maintenance costs (maintenance that did not do) which brought us to just over 2,000 . Impossible to make a complaint, if only on the non-existent maintenance costs.
In addition, we planned to pay in cash, which we converted to make the payment, except that the hotel does not accept this type of payment, only credit card or credit card. Excluding this is not specified on the reservation site! We lost more money, 300 in total to have to convert them back into euros when we left!
It was the second time that I went to New York because I had been disappointed the first time, but not by the Renaissance hotel, I wanted to go back there because I had not visited everything, so I am returned and this will be the last time, I am still so disappointed, the city is superb but I have paid just as much or even less for much more beautiful and comfortable hotels, with breakfast included and over periods of two weeks in other country...
So save your money, it's not worth spending a penny at this trendy establishment and that's it ... Where's the convenience?
I want to clarify that with my partner we are not the type to usually complain ...

-Trendy hotel with space problem-

I have rarely stayed in such a hip hotel and it was fully in line with what I expect from the Moxy brand. Industry look in the bathroom, storage under the bed, that was not bad.

Now, unfortunately, the most beautiful hotel is not worth much if I sleep badly, and for two you sleep very poorly unless you want to hold your arm all night or you like to lean against a wall while sleeping. The air conditioner knows only or loud, why something like this must be today I do not know.

Conclusion: alone I would stay again in the Queen Bed Room (if necessary, you take the Oropax ready for the noise of the air conditioning), for two I can only advise against it.

Too bad.

Only there for 2 nights, but it was just the perfect hotel for those 2 nights. Very comfortable and located perfectly...loved the setup style and simplicity.... ticks all the boxes.. would definately stay there again..

Staying at The Moxy was pretty cool-and I don't consider myself cool, so I enjoyed being part of a trendier experience for a short time.

I like to take notice of all the details that amount to the overall customer experience, and The Moxy did a great job on that front.

I was a bit thrown by the modern check in-it wasn't your typical hotel lobby with a line of people waiting to check in at a front desk and staff lined up in formal uniforms - what I'm used to. There were separate kiosks - one side was for self check-in and the other was check-in with staff who were dressed comfortably and casually. Thankfully, they were on top of it and jumped in to help as my husband and looked around wondering what to do, lol. They were friendly and helpful as they oriented us to the hotel and checked us in quickly.

The rooms were small, but this is NYC and I used to live in 400 square feet, so that didn't bother me. I was very impressed with the design - super functional, industrial and minimalist. No dresser, but cubbies under the bed, hooks on the door, etc. There was a fold out table and chair hanging on the wall hooks but we didn't have use for it as we weren't in our room that much. I have to mention that the bed was very comfortable!

They made it special too-we we re celebrating my husband s birthday and they decorated the room with balloons and a special message on the mirror which was a sweet surprise when we entered! Nice touch!

We were only there for a quick stay, but I think that if you're tidy and organized and can contain your belongings, it would be comfortable for a longer stay.

Also, the location was terrific-the proximity to Penn Station and Times Square was so convenient for travel purposes. And there was so many places around to eat, drink, shop, etc. That was awesome.

Overall, we had a very good stay with a great team overseeing the guest experience!

Stayed three nights. Housekeeping didn t come the second day. Asked for more towels (3) online and each time only received two. Maybe that s the limit. Small rooms- had bunk bed for daughter. Room was on the fourth floor next to an electrical room (I m guessing) so I kept hearing ringing noise off/on. I would wake up in the middle of the night to the noise. Not sure if I would stay again. Went to the bar on the second floor and staff was extremely nice.

We stayed for 4 nights here in January 2018. I love the decor and how they are almost bucking the original hotel trend and rethinking certain things.

The hotel is very clean and well maintained.
The shower was INCREDIBLE, more like a hot waterfall, I could spend my days in there!
The rooms we stayed in was a single double and it is small, for sure. It was just starting to get to me how we didnt have anywhere for our bags and things by the last night, and you have to climb onto the foot of the bed to get to the bedside table.

We had a welcome drink which was horrible, I wouldnt bother and save your time.

The rooftop bar is nice but very expensive.

I would go here again, the location is also fantastic!

Room and style was nice but be aware: it's noisy! Staff wasn't helpful at all, first couldn't find our reservation and after a second look it was there - what a surprise?! Accidently left an item in the room and called while still on the road. Filed a lost item report with absolutely accurate and detailed description of item and last location IN our room. Never heard back, called multiple times, got promised every time to get a call back - never happened. There is no way they couldn't have found it. Very disappointing and that the staff just don't care - don't loose anything and be aware that it is noisy and you have to help the staff to find your reservation!

This is my second stay at the Moxy. I decided to come back mainly due to the convenient location. It is a really cool, hip hotel - but all of the charms of the extra design elements wear off pretty quickly. The room decor is nice, but be careful not to trip and fall into the wall - otherwise, the hooks meant for clothing (in replacement of a closet) that are strategically placed all around the room will certainly jab your eye out. The young lady that greeted us was very nice and offered to check our bags and call us when the room was ready - although she never actually called. The elevators (really really really ) suck - they are annoying and difficult at times and don't always register your key card to go to the bedroom floors and the constant loud music playing in them (whether it is morning or night) is a bit annoying. For a king suite - there was only one small trash can in the room - although the Nespresso coffee maker certainly made up for that oversight. The bed was amazing and comfortable - and it was awesome for sleep, watching tv, and other pleasures. While kicked back on that comfy bed - a window washer suddenly presented himself outside our 15th-floor room window. I am glad we were simply relaxing at that moment and not up to more scandalous adult activities. The drinks are fabulously expensive but tasty in the second-floor lounge. Overall - we give it 4 Stars - but it probably is more like 3.64. I just decided to round up.

The rooms are small but trendy. Location is very convenient to most everything on Manhattan. I will add that the rooftop club is very loud. I'm sure the hotel is very aware that this impacts their customers attempting to sleep, as they provide earplugs. Personally, the earplugs were not sufficient to block out the noise and are also not the best fitting, so they came out when I tried to use them. NYC is the city that never sleeps, so as long as you are following that mantra you won't find issue, but otherwise beware.

I truly love these rooms, the tv at the end of the bed, the tiled showers, the wall of hooks. Will be staying here for business quite a bit and the winter rates are pretty low. Gym has amazing treadmills with YouTube player...that s way better than any tv station IMO

Excellent hotel in relation quality price. We were unlucky to arrive after the reservation was canceled but even after midnight the concierge managed to solve all the problems. Rooms are somewhat small but fully functional. Its bars are worth visiting.

I could not have been more happy with this hotel! I loved the location, soo close to Penn Station which made a walk with a three year old a breeze. We arrived earlier than anticipated and the front was so accommodating in getting us in a room even though check in wasn't for a few more hours. Yes, the rooms are on the smaller side, but organized so great they utilized the space perfectly. The baristas were great, and the service and food I had at both Bar Moxy and Legasea were really fantastic. I'll be sure to bring my wife so we can try the places like the rooftop/Magic Hour I couldn't try with the little one! Really was a great stay.

What I liked: the location, the amenities (we finished several evenings at the bar), the bed. The rooms were... cozy, but we treated it like a cruise ship stateroom. Our first room was too close to the rooftop nightclub, so sleep was scarce. The staff was very helpful in getting us moved to a lower floor. In total, I really liked it, and would go back.

Hotel in an ideal location right in the middle of Manhattan. Had recommended it from our travel agent.

Hotel: Moxy is Marriott's MotelOne competitor. Was surprisingly hip. The design is very nice. The staff is 20-25 years old and rocks along to the electronic music. The guests are just as young and dynamic. So the marketing concept works. Hotel bar is an option, but service is not attentive.

Rooms: The rooms are extremely small. The bed can be entered from one side. The remaining pages are on the wall. Basically there are no ways to stow suitcases and laundry. The bathroom is very nice and comparatively large. The air conditioning / heating is cheap and not without smells. The volume at night was very high. We had a room under the rooftop bar and the music could be heard until late into the night.

Best for: travelers looking for central location with a modern, minimalist feel, clean rooms, friendly staff, and fun on-site amenities like the rooftop bar and living room-like lounge.

Not good for: business travelers (no closet, no desk, no iron/ironing board) that can't sleep amongst the noise of Midtown and the hotel's own bars.

NYC is always unique. Hotel 400m from Times Square and close to breakfast and dining places.
Rooms clean but too small so don't expect the queen bed. It looks like the smurf chamber. Young and competent staff.

MOXY @ Times Square NYC is one of the unique hotels I have been. It's kinda hippie / millennial hotel which has the least possible things in room needed to survive. They don't have shampoo, iron box, body lotion in the rooms. They are in a special closet called 'THE STASH'. We get that, it's not a traditional hotel, but would be great if they informed at time of check-in rather than we banging our head to figure out where they are. And, fine point - they don't have room service. In a gist, it's a fancy hotel maintained by millennial's backed by power of corporate (Marriott).

I absolutely loved Moxy. First time staying there I like the location we were 5 min walk from Times Square. It was my birthday and my husband asked to have the room decorated and they outdid themselves. We got a double room and it wasn t big but it s big enough for a couple we ll organized and clean and the stuff were very friendly and greeted us to two glasses of champagne on the house when we first got there and since our room wasn t ready when we came back after 10 minutes to get the keys they gave us another 2 tokens for another two glasses of champagne. Needless to say we had a great experience.

The place as such in its spaces is very striking, avant-garde and chic, however its staff is TOO YOUNG and quite INEXPERT when it comes to handling mishaps or inconveniences with the guests, they do not speak a second language apart from English and they tend to be rude . However, the atmosphere of the hotel lends itself to put aside that detail and focus on the jewel of its privileged location in New York. The rooms are not very big and the folding furniture gives an air of freshness to the room.

This was one of the more affordable options in Times Square and it was well worth the cost. The rooms are compact but it was enough room for 2 of us in a queen size rooms they even have a portable table and chairs you can take down if you need it. Loved the self-check in. The only flaw in this system is that you get 2 coins for free champagne when you check-in and we had to ask for our coins.

Loved the free champagne at the 2nd floor bar. The only downside here is that the website promoted a brunch with drink specials and the bar didn t seem to know anything about it. We received a room credit for the confusion. There are board games, a photo booth and some other games on the 2nd floor in the lounge area.

The website also advertises a pink pop-up room which turned out to be a small stand on the 2nd floor.

The mini golf is for aesthetics only. The balls are rubber and the holes are filled so the balls dont stay in. It s a cute place to take pix. And it s free.

My favorite part of the rooftop restaurant is the carousel seats. At night, the carousel spins but not during brunch. To get to this restaurant you have to exit the hotel and turn right. For the evening on the roof there is a Dj. They were holding the line outside to make it look like it was super packed inside but it wasn t.

Overall, it was a great hotel for our trip because we didn t plan to spend much time in the hotel.

I am removing my previous excellent review because after numerous stays here this passed Sunday will be my last. Never in my life have I been more embarrassed or looked over as I did that day. I arrived much earlier than normal which was probably my first mistake. The overnight staff is incredible. Can't say the same about the staff on that afternoon. While clearly suffering from heat stroke/exhaustion I embarrassingly had to ask for a pal to vomit up whatever little liquid I had left in my body. The girl was kind enough to bring me water, which I was charged for, and if I didn't feel uncomfortable enough the staff clearly got a kick out of it. That was all the entertainment they must have needed for the day because I never even made it out the room once getting to it. I never even unpacked. Thankfully someone knew where I was and found me on the floor the next afternoon with no energy to even lift myself off the floor. I know someone had to have heard me at some point during my stay because I was in excruciating pain and very vocal about it. Shame on you and shame on your staff

This was a decent stay. If coming here for the nightlife, then it ll get the job done. If looking to stay a little longer, I d stay somewhere else. The rooms are pretty clean, however, the walls are thin so you can hear everything (ESPECIALLY at night). The AC is loud and the rooms are small, but cute. If staying here for a quick night or the first nightlife great choice, but for a longer stay I wouldn t recommend.

The Moxy NYC Time Square was by far the worst hotel I ever stayed. I shared a room with two other people, so I needed everything to be on point but we didn't have enough bath towels or wash clothes, the food was horrible and overpriced at Legasea--I can't remember when I tasted something so awful. The Moxy staff was not friendly and accommodating especially to African-American guests like myself. I received better treatment at the Sheraton Hotel in NC and the rooms were much nicer. The Marriott brand need to take a closer look at this hotel and maybe consider making some staffing adjustments or send the staff to customer service training, so they will be better prepared to deal with a diverse poplulation.

Best hotel I have ever been to, very top atmosphere and with a very different decoration, I wish I had spent a few more days, very good breakfast, the room is a bit small, but it is normal, after all, it s new york . I will definitely come back, I miss you already, even the bathroom, the shower, shampoos were sensational, the gym with a very pleasant atmosphere, not to mention the leisure area at the bar, very top, even has a tattoo parlor, I fell in love. I really liked it and I will definitely be there again

We spent two weeks during the months of July and August. Our experience was great, because of the situation. Next to Times Square. The value for money is very good. It consists of many services: dining room, night bar, rest area, gym ... The beds are very comfortable, it is clean. It is surrounded by areas of shops, cafes, restaurants. From the hotel you can walk to the MoMA, Central Park, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, among other interesting places. It is well connected as there is good access to public transport. I have to emphasize the treatment of Juanjo, a hotel worker who helped us a lot. He resolved very kindly any doubt. From here I want to thank you. I would definitely like to go back to New York and return to Moxy NYC.
