The food was delicious as was the presentation. The atmosphere and service were excellent. A place I will certainly visit on subsequent trips to Austin. As is the case with good places, there is typically a wait. However, 20 minutes was well worth it.

ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD. Asked our waiter, Anthony, what seafood was his top pick. He suggested the trout that Govenor Greg Abbott ordered and enjoyed! OMG! The hospitality of the staff was awesome.

Starting from the nice valet guys all the way to our charming waitress great overall dining experience! Food was yummy and the outside terrace stays warm even on a brisk December evening.

The food and service was excellent! Our server was very friendly and was on top of refilling our drinks. The food was delicious! We ordered the salmon and chicken and waffles. The salmon was cooked on a cedar plank and was seasoned perfectly. The waffles were fluffy and the chicken was crispy without being greasy.

I attended a birthday lunch here with friends on a Saturday! There were 5 of us and we had no problem getting a table with a very short wait time. In fact, they allowed us to sit even without our entire party being present, which is rare these days in a popular restaurant. That said, we had a wonderful lunch that lasted about 2 1/2 hours. We never felt rushed or felt we were taking too long at our table. We took our time opening gifts before we ate, had a delicious brunch, and even built a nice rapport with our server, Phillip. He was great, had a friendly personality and made us feel like royalty. Thank you Moonshine and thx, Phillip!

LOVE this place! I have to go there at least once every time I visit Austin. The service is always top notch. The menu has a great variety with unique options. I had the chicken mac and cheese and I loved it... a little spicy for me but still good.

Walked here from the hotel on a Wednesday night. The inside is under construction so you have to sit outside. It says no dine in on Google, but we ate there for sure. The popcorn they serve as an appetizer is really good, I hate popcorn but I told people at work about this popcorn there next day. We got the lemonade cocktail and the bourbon slush, the bourbon slush was outstanding and probably the best thing we had, worth going back for. We ordered the redfish with brussel sprouts and the flank steak with sweet potato tots. The tots were not special, the steak was well cooked, maybe even amazingly cooked considering the natural state of flank steak, and the chimichurri was very good. The fish was fine but it had a couple of bones and that kind of ruins it for me. Sorry, I should be more mentally and emotionally resilient, but I'm fragile apparently. The brussel sprouts were excellent, but I like all brussel sprouts.

Great atmosphere. The fried green tomatoes were perfection. I sat in the back bar room because it was so busy. The service was decent, but could have been better.my glass stayed empty. I'm not complaining, but the service could have been better.
I'll definitely be back.
Thanks guys

Ended up having dinner here twice in three days on a recent visit to Austin. I thoroughly enjoyed it both times. Nice drink selection (Blind Mules go down really easy), and some delicious menu items. I highly recommend the Southern Grit Cake. Although just an appetizer, this was probably my favorite dish there. I also recommend the Jalapeno Hangar Steak - well cooked and flavorful without the marinade overwhelming the beef. But watch out for the roasted pepper to the side. That thing packs some heat!

I like steak. I've been a lot of places and the Moonshine Gill Jalapeno steak was one of the best I've ever had. This is a must try in my book. The line can get long but no worries they have a couple bars to sit !nd wait for a table.

This place is awesome! The wait staff was great. The food was universally great and in huge portions. The prices were very fair, considering how high quality the food was. Most of us had to take some with us home because the servings are large. We ate there almost every day because it was so good.

Excellent food. Drinks are a little weak. Happy hour deals are very good with a bunch of $5-7 cocktails and half off some very good and very filling appetizers. Don't have to sit at bar to get happy hour to get happy hour.

The girl in the Hosting service discriminated a bit when requesting a table and made us wait 20 minutes while passing other people who arrived later (without reservation) (which looks like Ana Hathaway), after that the waiter Thomas He was very friendly and very attentive. The food leaves much to be desired too fried and without good taste the only thing that can be redeemed is the popcorn, but from then on, the worst service for $ 80 dollars 4 people I do not recommend it is more famous than service

I went here several months ago and it was a great experience from start to finish. We sat out on the patio. Service was excellent - our waiter was friendly and enthusiastic, with just the right level of attentiveness, bringing over dishes of cornbread and popcorn to keep us going while we chose our main courses.

The menu offered a great selection - comfort food with a twist! I had a chicken caesar salad which was delicious. Portions were generous and good value.

This has become one of our favorite downtown restaurants. The food is fresh and the menu is original. Let me be clear, it is a restaurant with a bar not a bar that serves food. The dishes and sides are well thought out, fantastically prepared and we'll priced. I definitely recommend it to anyone in the downtown area.

This place is amazing.
Excellent selection of liquor. Excellent food, with surprisingly large portions.

I had the chicken fried steak, and would recommend it. Both the grits and green beans were great sides.

Prices for both food and drinks were very reasonable.

Ate here for the first time today. The fried green tomatoes are out of this world!! Highly recommend these!! Service was great and although the salads were not up to par they were more than gracious to take one of them off due to the quality.

Great place for Southern food. Great for people that are visiting Austin. We tried the tender belly, rainbow trout, and catfish. They were all tasty. The service was great and they were very tentative. They had fans outside for people that like to seat in the heat. As far as the location is not longer the quiet are it used to be. There is a lot of construction around the area.

Eating here with my son. He said best chicken nuggets, he said the chicken is amazing, I had the protein plate, Chicken, shrimp, and steak. Bam knocked it out of the park. Sever Zach rock it with service

Very tasty food in a slightly more upscale venue. Stays true to Austin's craft scene with delicious food, very friendly and helpful service, popcorn as a free starter, unique drink menu, and again, really good food.

Couldn't love this place more. The Backyard Chicken sandwich is amazing (ask for a pretzel bun!) and the Blind Mule is dangerously good. They always say the wait is going to be double what it actually is, which is nice because you expect a long wait and are always pleasantly surprised to be seated sooner. They also have a great bar on the patio you can wait at. Definitely have to check this place out while in Austin!

Ate here our last night in Austin, we tried to go before but the wait was over an hour. So glad we came back. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. And everything we had was. We started with the kale bacon dip, and it was a little slow coming out so the manager comped it and offered us free cornbread even though we didn't notice the dip took too long. All in all a great restaurant, great food and great cocktails. And an awesome patio.

Really enjoyed our recent meal here. The blackened catfish and meatloaf are very solid choices. The atmosphere is really fun and the staff is super interested in a nice customer experience

We had Sunday brunch - all you can eat buffet style. very friendly staff, brunch food was great and fresh. Pastry for brunch was fresh and delicious, bread pudding and the cone on roles were amazing.

The next day we went back for lunch, had chicken fried steak with a side of mac&cheese. It was delicious.

Their bloody marries are good too.

Loved the seasoning on the popcorn they serve as an appetizer. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Yummy. The grit cake was just ok. Nothing special. The wait time is ridiculous. We waited almost two hours. However, I had to take into consideration the fact that it's downtown and it was a Friday night. I'll go back, with another date. Lol. My date was the worst.

Had like a 6hr flight due to weather complications.. was completely worn out and hungry, this place was about 45 mins to an hour wait, but luckily we got a seat at the bar before that.

Great food, great southern hospitality!
The warm kale & bacon dip is amazing along with the chicken & waffles.

And of course had to try a moonshine and wasn't disappointed.

Killer staff, killer food, killer environment. Our server gave us the history of the buildings dating back 100 years, because we asked. Fascinating! The ruby red slipper martini is my go-to cocktail here, and I don't do cocktails!! Wish we had gotten our server's name when we last dined, Sunday evening in the old Sunday Room. He was the best. My husband (and 3 others in our group) had their famous chicken fried steak, my husband was the only one who could actually finish the whole thing! One of my favorite Austin places. Thanks you guys!

It was my first time in the US - started with a week in Austin. And I have to say: if it wasn't for these guys - the whole experience would have been a lot less pleasant. :D
The food? Amazing. The drinks? Amazing. The vibe? Amazing.
The waitress, who was also amazing :) will probably remember me :D I was the 30yo acting like a 10yo, who wanted "the whole thing" ... the full "US experience" - Mac'n'Cheese with the steak ... corn dog ... :D
But there was one thing, that will stick forever: Apple Pie Moonshine! OMG!!! SOOO GOOOD!!! I start drooling if I just think about it! :D
You are awesome! If I ever come to Austin again - this may very well be the only place I will eat at! :) Thank you for the wonderful time!
