Hands down my favorite restaurant in Austin. Moonshine has a great vibe, fantastic happy hour, and a delicious Sunday brunch (all you can eat). Their fajita salad is mind boggling good and their bacon dip will make you forget about any/all problems you may be having in your life.

Great food. But very pricey, as were the drinks. And I had to pay the valet for parking on top of that. I had a knee replacement done so I couldn't walk far to park. I also had to climb stairs twice to get seated; once to get in the door, and again to get to the tables. The atmosphere was very noisy. I had to ask my friend to repeat what they said constantly. Not my cup of tea. Won't come back again.

So. Worth. The. Calories. Ate here twice. Octavio the waiter was the best.
Asked for him the second day. I had him pick my lunch the second day and based on my lunch choice the first day (the hamburger with sweet potato fries) he got it spot-on. Great service.

We went to the breakfast brunch and considering that the restaurant is in the heart of Austin it was very disappointing to find fruit to be the only healthy option offered. There was an avocado toast but finding the avocado was a challenge. It was spread thinner than butter on toast. All of the other options were delicious but if you are looking for heart healthy options I would not recommend Moonshine.

In town for a meeting and was alone, so I headed down to the bar at Trulucks for a drink and a bite. Beautiful bar, and the bartender was great. He spent some time going over his amazing selection of bourbons, and one in particular from Texas that was incredible called Garrisons. Had never seen it available before. Had Ahi Tuna at the bar, a few different bourbons during happy hour at half price. Staff was 5 star. While it is not an inexpensive dinner option, if you are looking for top shelf food and service, especially seafood, you won't be disappointed!!

This seems to be a popular place for events - I think every time I've been here has been for a business party of some sort. I always enjoy it. Maybe not the most easily accessible location, but then what in downtown is?

Great restaurant with a pretty great central location. I like the almond chicken and the pan apple pie with maple icecream is so good! Even at busier times durring the week I haven't ever had to wait long for a table and the wait staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Definitely good for a comfort food hankering.

We were looking for a good place to eat while attending Austin comicon and this place stood out from all of the trashy places from nearby 6th Street. There was a 90 minute wait!!! One of the other patrons said it was worth the wait, and it really was. It was pretty noisy with all of the people coming in and out. We got a drink at the bar and waited for our turn to be seated. It would be a very cozy place when not so busy. The food was delicious- I'd never had waffles and chicken before but man was it good. Wife had a soup and salad which she loved. I'd love to go back again someday during an off hour instead of Friday night!

Waited about an hour on a sat night at 8pm to be seated. Worth the wait For this delicious southern comfort food. The chicken fried steak is super large- enough for 2 people! The gumbo and side of Mac and cheese were also tasty. I like the warm decor, almost feels like you re having dinner in someone s house. I heard their brunch is good too and plan to try soon.

Great food, very homey feel. It's comfort foods, not a healthy place. I loved the chicken fried steak, it was cooked perfectly and the sauce was tasty with the right amount of heat. They had a good selection of food types, and everything we tried was amazing. Little long of a wait for food to come out but otherwise this is a great comfort food spot.

Amazing food here, along with fantastic cocktails, popcorn, and more. Only complaint is that you cannot make reservations, and the restaurant is so popular that the wait time regularly exceeds an hour. I would recommend their chicken & waffles, the meatloaf, and they make fantastic whiskey cocktails.

Adorable atmosphere with amazing southern style comfort food. Waited 15 minutes for a table at noon during sxsw and food came within minutes. Great drink selection and limited but well rounded menu.

Rambling location catering mainly to the convention crowd. The horseradish crusted salmon was excellent and my companion enjoyed the 'Frozen Bourbon' cocktail. Good place to meet someone from out of town.

Hour long wait for table, they don't take reservations or call ahead seating. Food was fantastic, drinks were perfect. A little loud for conversation, room we were in doesn't abate noise at all.

Food was great! Good place to go for comfort food. Wife had the chicken and waffles. I tried some of it and it was good. It was also a huge portion. I had the hangar steak and it was delicious. Only complaint was that dish was such a smaller portion compared to all of the other dishes they serve. Atmosphere was good and they had a closed off patio area that was heated

Location was close to our conference at The Fairmont and I'm so glad we stopped here for lunch. We had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and the Hanger Steak special. Both were amazing. We hanger steak was nice and tender. Also had the Hard Lemonade which was good. Our server was Glenn and he was so spot on and efficient. He's a highlight for sure!

The food was pretty good, but the noise was unbearable! We literally had to scream to the members at our table. The service was also mediocre. If I were to go back, I would only sit outside.

Would def recommend the Chicken and Waffles! But everything on the menu looks amazing. And plentiful portions. Rustic decor is warm and chic and the restaurant is situated in a very pleasant and vibrant part of downtown

The chicken and waffles are to die for.

The chicken and waffles are to die for.

The portions are huge. We both took home leftovers. Complimentary popcorn at the beginning. Moonshine mule is pictured... The deviled eggs were pretty good and the brussel sprouts were fantastic. The most underwhelming thing we consumed were the little cornbread bites..unfortunately. Our server was fantastic.

Fully endorsing the chicken and waffles. The texture and preparation of the chicken is something that needs to be experienced! Pair it with the waffle--perfection!

Went here for lunch with friends. The wait wasn't long and the hostess and waitress were excellent. The food didn't take long and ordered drinks and they came out in timely manner. The food was excellent. Everyone enjoyed there food. Overall the experience and food was excellent. I highly recommend this place.

The popcorn they give you to begin with is delicious. Be careful you don t eat too much of it. We had the shrimp corn dogs. They are wonderfully different and I recommend. Then we had the Rainbow Trout that was wonderful and filling. Definitely recommend stopping if you are in the area.

Freakin delicious, worth the wait! Gritz had the right amount of spice. Chicken n Waffles were great, chicken was crisp and juicy. Atmostphere was nice and quiet, minus some noisy patrons. Will definately recommend.

We went here on a lark and we're not disappointed. The place was " hipstery" but the food was good. The best time to go is SUNDAY BRUNCH... the price is good and the service is outstanding. Enjoy...

Came for the Sunday all you can eat brunch and it was pretty great. A lot of different american style breakfast foods including various eggs, sausage, chicken fried steak, and an amazing whipped cream for desert. Reasonably priced too ($20)! Would recommend though it can be pretty busy so be prepared to wait around 30-45 min if you arrive around 10-11am on Sunday

Something very different. Steak was amazing, cooked perfectly. Wife had chicken and waffles which were also very good. Drinks are again different from your standard run of the mill eating joint. Give it a shot, it's worth it.

Fabulous patio and interesting history. Went 2 days in a row. Salmon was amazing. The chicken dish was ok ...a little on the bland side for me. Friends had chicken and waffles and were pleased. Sipping some moonshine was an experience.

Decent American patio restaurant. Portions were larger than your average restaurant. Dinner is overrated and long lines. Good place to go for some drinks or brunch, but the actual meal is decent.
