Only visited for drinks- but it was a very cozy place on a chilly day, good drinks, friendly bartender

Cool atmosphere but the wait for the food was brutal. They bought us a drink for our wait so that was cool. Food was great!

This wasn't even a barbecue joints and it ended up being the best ribs of my trip. These ribs are fantastic you get a ton of them for a decent price especially for such a nice place I would definitely recommend coming here everybody in our group liked their meal.

A touch snobbish for my tastes, trendy I guess. Drinks were great, food was unimpressive. Had shrimp and grits and have had better at a diner in Louisiana. Would recommend past drinks. Not worth the cost and the wait

Such great service. Jess on a sat am 9/30 really took care of us. We ordered bacon to add to our bloody Mary's and she did the extra touch and added celery and fixings. Our dog was able to be on the patio and the chicken and waffles were off the charts. Worth going to for sure.

Love the atmosphere and the servers were awesome. Has a good selection of moonshine.

Expect pretty long wait times. The first day we wanted to go, the wait time was an hour and a half, and the second day we waited 30 minutes at 2:30pm on a Monday.
Once inside though, the atmosphere is somewhere right in the middle of fancy and comfort food.
Their blueberry moonshine mix was fantastic, and reasonably priced.
The pretzels were excellent, and the pimento cheese was also great. The mac and cheese is well cooked, and not al dente, but still great.
The plating is all themed and very cool, including the drinks. The French fries were top notch as well. The tables also have free popcorn which was great, and contributes to the comfort food feel.

I have been to Moonshine at least 8 times, and they never fail to disappoint. Great drinks, amazing food, and always good service. Just learned it s one of the oldest buildings in Austin (pretty neat). They serve delicious complimentary seasoned popcorn (one of my fave). Highly recommend.

Our first meal in Austin and Moonshine set a very high bar! The place is adorable and we were seated quickly for lunch. Service was great. Our server suggested the cathead bisuits and they were so friggin' good. A nice salty sweet combo that had us debating whether to get another round. I had the Backyard chicken sandwich and liked it, but was coveting my friend's cornflake fried chicken salad which looked delicious. She confirmed it was. Drinks were also very good. I decided to have a michelada with Dos Equis beer. All in all a really good spot for food and drinks! Come hungry and leave happy!

Before the meal, my friend and I shared a moonshine sampler and that was great! We ended up ordering a full order of our favorites from that selection. Popcorn was served as an appetizer. The biscuits were my favorite part of this meal! The skirt steak was also delicious and very flavorful. Mac n cheese was good as well. My steak wasn t that good, more on the dry side & lacked flavors. Service was excellent! My only other complaint was the parking, only valet is available near the restaurant or else you d have to walk a million miles.

Great place for team happy hour or even dinner. Been here several times and some of my faves are the salmon and the trout. The grits on the sides menu are a must try! I also love the chicken Chile macaroni but more like a dish for everyone to share! Overall fantastic place.

Always good food, drinks and atmosphere. We love the Bloody Mary's too!

The place is really nice, especially the tables outside in the patio. The food was delicious, especially the sweet potatoe fries.

The first time I ever came here was on an ambush date my sophomore year of college. (An ambush date is when a dude asks if you want to "hang out" then SURPRISE suddenly you are on a date. I am not a fan of this tactic. Man up and ask a lady out if you're interested.) I remember nervously eating a lot of popcorn and nothing else. I have since been back for the breakfast buffet and wasn't terribly impressed-- though the fact that I don't eat a lot of meat may have influenced that. I don't like stuffing myself for AMERICA! to feel I've gotten my $20 worth either.

This place is pretty cool. It has a very upscale vibe. Vegetarian options are a little scarce, but they do have a few secret menu items for vegetarians, including eggplant parmigiana, so be sure to ask.

Great food, I had the Pork 3-ways sandwich. Service was great too. Bartender/server was fast and friendly. A little trendy, for my taste, but I'm not holding that against them. Just putting it out there for would be travelers.

Awesome food and a wonderful staff. We showed up with a very large group tonight and they went Above and Beyond to get us all seated together, were very fast on service, and were totally cool with splitting our checks out separately. I would recommend Moonshine Grill to anyone going to Austin!

I love the creative, fresh menu and adult atmosphere.

This place is fantastic. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Even the popcorn, which I'm not a big fan of, they bring to the table with the menus was great because of the seasoning they sprinkle on it. Had the fried green tomatoes and calamari appetizers. Both quite good. Ordered the cornflake battered fried chicken salad and a side of fries for the entree. The fries were battered, super crispy, and seasoned perfectly. Same goes for the chicken, which also has toasted sesame and poppy seeds mixed into the batter. Absolutely delicious. The salad itself was fresh as could be with a tangy honey mustard dressing that isn't too sweet. A perfect salad if there is such a thing. We then ordered the apple pie and peanut butter pie for the table for dessert. Both were gigantic and as delicious as everything else. The apple pie comes with homemade salted caramel ice cream that was superb. Everything there is made in house, from scratch, using local produce and meat. And the waitress couldn't have been more accommodating, helpful, or friendlier. Will definitely be returning.

If my husband and I could give more than 5 stars we absolutely would. We moved to Austin 3 years ago and this restaurant has always been on our radar but we just never pulled the trigger. Well due to some plans falling through, we found ourselves downtown and ready to give them a try. At first, the menu is a little intimidating in both descriptions and price. However our waiter Adam was incredible. I ve been a server for the last 8 years and can appreciate the dedication he has to his craft. He s an outstanding employee. He talked us through our indecisiveness and offered his personal menu suggestions as well as his signature drink, The Adam Bomb. Y all. The food, drinks and service were all out of this world. I can not recommend this place enough. Our night of disrupted plans turned out to be one of our best in Austin yet.

And we live in the Bay Area and travel a lot! Amazing place: great atmosphere, delicious sushi. The escolar in particular was amazing, but all sashimi, making and Nigiri was excellent. We'd absolutely dine here again.

You can tell a lot of mice is put into their food. Very good, very big portions! I went for lunch, but I plan to go back for dinner and some whiskey.

I usually go for the brunch but we had a work related event here for dinner. Always satisfied, staff works well together, hostess was a unicorn, made me blackout just by looking in her eyes. Chicken and waffles and also chicken fried steak!

I've been here a few times and it never ceases to impress.
Go for the Sunday brunch buffet, but get there early or plan on enjoying people watching while you wait, because there is always a line.
Once you are seated though you will NOT be disappointed.
The wait staff is extremely attentive and very friendly.
Nothing that you will find on the buffet is anything that you have ever had on any other. There are dishes with names that you will recognize, but don't assume that you've had it before. . . . . because you haven't. The migas isn't your typical, and neither are the deviled eggs. The bread pudding is over the top. But the thing that really stands out is the pesto scrambled eggs! Absolutely out of this world!

One of the best and consistent restaurants in fine cuisine and service! Not all haute, high-end restaurants in Austin are consistent with their quality of food, and, or food service. Moonshine us on my top five restaurants in Austin.

I found this place thanks to a five-star review on Google, so the least I can do is take a minute to confirm that the rating is dead on. Great selection of cocktails (try the "Blind Mule") that helped pass the time on the patio while waiting for a table. Surprisingly crowded, even on a Sunday evening, but the wait was worth it. Went for the seared rainbow trout with bacon cornbread stuffing and... wow... Paired with the green chile cheddar grits, it was a perfect meal.

Very lovely, homey restaurant. Great for a bite when coming here for a conference. Very fresh farm ingredients, and really appreciate them for hiring servers with disabilities. Definitely a place to try in downtown Austin!

The food is superbly prepared. The wine cellar is amazing. The selections of whiskeys are outstanding!

Moonshine grill has amazing wonderful food and drinks, great customer service, get there early because it will fill up fast. But is it a wonderful dinner / lunch spot.

It's convenient to get to in the downtown area from IH 35 South Austin tx.

One of the best brunch buffet's in Austin. If you don't want to wait for a table for a Sunday brunch, get there before 10am or after 2pm. Tons of great food options and the Scarlet mimosa (pom juice instead of oj) is pretty awesome. It's more expensive then other places in town. Parking is very tough, so walk or take advantage of their valet.

Great place to eat. I really enjoyed the chicken fried steak and the service was great. My buddy had the chicken and waffle which was even better. We had the shrimp corn dogs as an appetizer and they were okay. The peanut butter pie was enough for 2 or 3 people and was probably the best piece of pie I've ever had.

Cool building, friendly and helpful staff. Had the delicious corndog shrimp appetizer. My wife had the cedar plank salmon, it was more smoky than I like. I had the trout which was amazing. Will definitely come back.

We headed to Moonshine on a weekday and found a decent crowd there. We decided to sit at the bar while waiting for our table which took 35 minutes. All the drinks were well made and had the calamari for appetizers. Once at the table we ordered the pimento burger and I got the blackened catfish . The catfish had amazing seasoning and the highlight were the crawfish tails on it . I gobbled it up really quickly :) The service was really nice. This is a good place for getting some nice outdoor seating and relaxed evening.

Loved it. Walking distance from The Hilton. Hunter was a very nicer server. Everything we ordered looked great and the taste was super. Will go back for sure.

Food here was good- The decor was comfortable and the service was bar none- the best Ive had for a while- kate was her name and she did a great job getting everything taken care of after the kitchen botched our first round of food-

Amazing service! Food was even better! Crawfish and grits was BOMB.com! Drinks were better when we ordered through our server and I pretty sure its because they came from the back bar instead of the bar by the entrance. Overall that barely made a difference. Our experience was fantastic!

Living in Atlanta, l was thrilled to come back and eat here again this past week. The first time I came here, I ordered the cornflake chicken salad and the mac and cheese. Both were absolutely incredible! This time around, I had the chicken and waffles... and y'all! Oh my gosh it was so delicious. Probably one of the best waffles I've ever had in my life. Don't be a pig and keep it all to yourself...this plate is huge and feeds a village. We also ordered the apple pie but I didn't get to eat it because I was so full from all the apps, drinks, and my entree. My coworkers loved it! There's a gravel parking lot next to the restaurant where you pay at the machine.
