Simply excellent. Chicken and waffles were amazing. The Chipotle gravy on the chicken fried steak was a welcome twist. Highly recommend.

Great space and vibe- but food was bad. Huge, sloppy portions and not very thoughtfully prepared.

Go! The food and atmosphere is one of a kind! Elegant yet lively, this is a great spot to go with friends or on a date. Be prepared to wait for a table, but the food is well worth it! Reasonably priced for how tasty it is. I love drinking out of their mason jars - reminds me of home of growing up in Tennessee.

Celebrated my bday/Halloween there tonight. The food was wonderful...especially the brussell sprouts and the bourbon slush. Thanks so much I will most deff reccomend

My fiance and I went here spur of the moment. We were so impressed! The food was awesome, and the service was excellent! Y'all must try the ribs! We will definately be bringing our friends and family back to enjoy.

If you're looking for a great place to eat downtown, then this is the place for you! It's unique in that they serve complimentary popcorn (to die for!) before ordering, and the ambiance is great for hanging out with friends or going out on a romantic date. The best times to check it out are during the week when the weekend crowd doesn't rush in.

Delicious food. The wait was long because we went at a peak brunch time, but we were able to get drinks from the bar while waiting. They also handed out free popcorn and beignets to those who were waiting. Waitstaff was also friendly. All in all, a good experience and good time despite the wait.

Great ambience on the patio, good food, great service. Will be visiting again for sure!

Small craft beer selection but with a name like Moonshine one should probably be drinking from their massive whiskey selection. Had easily the best Rainbow Trout dish I can ever recall having. They do not take reservations so if weather is preventing them from using the outside seating prepare for a bit of a wait for the smallish inside area.

The portion sizes here are ridiculous ("comical" as described by our waiter) but the food is amazing.

The wait is so long at dinnertime, so definitely swing by for lunch. Staff is very nice and knowledgeable. We had a great time on the patio! The hard lemonade was delicious!

The manager and wait staff were fabulous. I ordered the cornflake crusted chicken and it came with seeds. I can not have seeds. They were very concerned and went out of thier way to make sure I had a meal that was both dietary appropriate as well as delicious. I also had an amazing peanut butter mousse! I highly recommend the restaurant and I will be back again.

The Alcohol is good.. the food is so so.. loved the fact tht every table had popcorn. My wife had the calamari and it upset her stomach immediately.. which was unfortunate..

Hands down, the best chicken fried steak I've ever had. And that's a strong statement from a Texan who has had a lot of chicken fried steak. The atmosphere is busy, and I don't recommend children at the downtown location, although they accommodated to ours as best they could. The food is worth any wait you may have.

Responsibly priced drinks nd buffet and the buffet was delicious with many options.

Probably my favorite restaurant in Austin because of the buffet. Totally worth the 2 hour wait lol!

Fun place to eat delicious southern comfort food!!! Be prepared to leave feeling very full! I like coming here for HH. Good options for half price. Brunch is a buffet so come hungry if you decide to go. Also has great drinks and mimosas!

Our must stop place for brunch when we are in Austin. The only issue we had was figuring out how to manage our plates to get at least one of everything! Lol They have a huge selection of brunch items and you will want to try them all. Ohh! And their moonshine mimosas... plan on getting an Uber. :)

The service was probably the BEST I've ever had Our waitress, Sonja was AMAZING! We are new to Austin and she was so helpful with suggestions from food and drinks here to the must se or do places locally! The atmosphere was so nice. Great place to stop and eat for sure! We'8be back!

This place is a favorite. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff, and the menu is comfort food with a slight twist of fanciness. Loved the chicken fried steak w/ chipotle gravy, and rosemary fries. Excellent Friday night dinner in Austin

The brunch wasn't that impressive. I rather have not all you can eat and better quality.

Great selection of beer and wine. My friend got the chicken fried steak and said it s in his top three in Texas. That says enough.

I had been to Moonshine once before for a holiday party, and didn't really get the full Moonshine experience.

I couldn't be happier about the decision to finally go back. The food was tasty, I love it that they kick off meals with popcorn, and the service was great. Definitely a good spot for casual business lunches!

What an awesome place. I would wear something nice (Sunday Church best). Food was delicious and staff is busy but not busy enough that they don't check on you. It was great to see that they offered to fill my drink just as I was finishing my last one. Definitely would come back again and again

This restaurant is located in downtown Austin, near the center of everything, a quick walk to the nightlife on 4th St. The portions are very generous. It would be easy to make a meal on the appetizer menu alone. The wine list is eclectic, with some interesting domestic and foreign choices. Our server was intelligent, witty and her attention to our needs was just right - never neglectful, never intrusive. Everything that we ordered - calamari, shrimp, rainbow trout with southwestern corn compote, sweet potato fries, and fried apple pie with ice cream was spot on. Some of the choices sound chancy but our server really steered us right, with excellent explanations of preparation and seasoning of each item. I enjoy cooking for friends and often find myself muttering that I could and have done it better when dining at a new restaurant.

One of my favorite restaurants in Austin and starting to creep into my top 10 restaurants of all time list! First, you can't make reservations which ends up being awesome because they have a great bar. They make real margaritas that are awesome! The food is fantastic (trout, pork chops and salmon are my favorites!). A lot of people rave about the brunch, but I'll be honest in that I'm not one for buffets so I wouldn't go back for the brunch.

Moonshine is an excellent restaurant with a full bar. The menu offers delicious selections and is sure not to disappoint. Located in a historic general store and saloon, Moonshine offers a unique atmosphere and setting for you to spend time with family or friends over a high-quality meal.

Great environment, resonable prices, great burgers and fries etc. Desert outstanding

American bar and grill. The recommended cheeseburger is topped with fried eggs and avocado.
We do not accept reservations, so it's a good idea to have a glass of beer at the bar counter and wait until there are no seats.
Good balance of atmosphere, service and cost.

Had brunch here with a friend on a recent visit. The food was outstanding and the service was good. Lamb and beef were terrific, other items varied from good to very good. Sweet tea was superb. Waiter was very nice. Never had jalepeno mint jelly before but it was outrageous! Overall, very close to a 5-star experience. A few factors leading to a 4-star review:

- Plates: very confusing! There were no plates on the buffet line near the carving station. Had to walk back in to the restaurant to get a plate, then come back out to get the food.

- Avocado toast: it was more like toast with a hint of avocado. It needed much more. And also, the flavor profile would have benefited from cilantro/onion/lime.

- Kolache: tasted like a hot dog in a bread pocket. I've had much better in Texas.

Overall, a great visit and I would come back without hesitation if I am in Austin again some day. My only recommendation: don't fill up on pastries - you can get those any time :)

Went for brunch my first time in Austin, everything was delicious. The location was casual and pleasant.

I've been here a few times and every time it gets better. I most recently went for their Sunday brunch. Waited about 30 minutes and it was well worth it. Even during the wait the passed out muffins to tie you over. Great selection and the quality of good was above par.

The food here was fantastic! My husband and I found this place by accident and we loved it!

This place is a great place to have a date night. My husband and I love to eat here. Their green chili macaroni and the chicken fried steaks are so yummy!

Huge bowl of green chili macaroni- this is not Mac and cheese! It is more like a corn macaroni casserole. Filling, but not what I thought it would be. My partner had the ribs and wow were they good! Very tender and very meaty. It was such a big portion he couldn t eat it all. I would come again and bring friends.

Great food, drinks and service. The Mule drink made with moonshine was rather yummy.

Moonshine is a great comfort food restaurant! You must try corndog shrimp! A delicious take on a childhood favorite.

Best southern brunch in Austin! The food was amazing and the service was too. Be there early because they are always packed.

I thought it would be a good idea to try the moonshine flight. Turns out I'm not fan of 80 proof liquor but it lead to some great conversations. Sat at the bar, had a great time, great vibes and atmosphere. Chicken and waffles were fantastic! Highly recommend.
