First time visit but not the last.
Very comfortable seating, atmosphere, and very friendly staff.
Meal was prepared well, tasty, and reasonably priced.

We'll definitely return to try more menu items.

Loved the food but the service was terrible. I was disappointed because I'd been once before and really enjoyed it. But today, for our special occasion, the server never once checked on us to see if we needed anything, enjoyed the meal, or to refill the water. I will not be returning.

I've been here for both their brunch buffet and dinner and the experience is never less than amazing. Their spin on comfort food is delicious and their menu spans for many different palates. You can't go wrong with what you order.

Stellar food, and drinks. The Blind Mule is as good a mule as you'll get around town. I've tried several dishes here and they have all been very good.

Don't miss out on the bread pudding for dessert too!

I got the cheese burger and added egg, bacon, as well as avocado. Absolutely amazing, cooked perfectly, tasted great. I also got the sweet potato fries which were probably the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. The dipping sauce on as incredible. My wife got the chicken sandwich which she completely enjoyed, she said the fries were great as well. I had the peach moonshine with lemonade, great. Service was on par as well. Highly recommend.

Stopped by here with some co-workers. The food is amazing, the Whiskey selection is impressive, but what makes this place stand out was the awesome staff. They were so friendly, helpful and accommodating. I will revisit when I come back to Austin.

We had our company Christmas party here and people were buzzing about it for days! The food , drinks and staff were all incredible. I highly recommend the famous shrimp corn dogs and pretzels. Almost everyone who attended that night were talking about coming back with friends or for date night. Great atmosphere for any occasion. The event coordinator and staff made sure every detail was perfect for us and made everything so easy.

No complaints, had lunch here and had a corporate dinner event. Food was great. For lunch, I had the chicken almondine and at the corporate dinner, we had jalapeno hanger steak and other dishes, but the hanger steak was my favorite. Staff was very pleasant and attentive.

First they walked us around the whole restaurant looking for a table for us, then it took forever for them to come back and take our order. They were not even that busy. Our waitress was nonexistent most of the time.

The food is okay, but not worth the price. The drinks are VERY watered down, so don't waste your money here....go to a real bar, or better yet, a different restaurant that won't overcharge you.

Wow! This restaurant is amazing! I almost dont want to write such a great review, because it's already so popular and I want to make sure I get a table! The building is historic and beautiful. Our wait was 45 minutes, but we didn't mind. We took our buzzer to a super cute side room with it's own bar away from the busy entrance bar. We enjoyed drinks and apps while we waited for our table. The bourbon and shrimp corndogs were delish. We were seated on a patio. It was cold outside, but we were comfortable since they had outdoor heaters. The food was good, but the best part was our huge portion of peanut butter pie. The service was friendly and fast. We will stop here again anytime we are in town!

My husband and I along with another couple sat on the patio and literally ordered one of everything from the starters menu. The garlic bulbs were my fave; my husband loved the grit cakes!!! We also indulged in the Hard Lemonade cocktail. Yum!!! Parking sucks as it's mostly meters and valet only. All in all, I'd totally recommend!

Sunday Brunch is awesome! There are lots of different choices that you wont find on other brunch buffets. The hatch chile cheese grits, a decadent bread pudding, corned beef, 3 different types of muffin and a "to die for" GF dark chocolate muffin! This is just scratching the surface! There are 2 rooms of food and its all of surprisingly good quality.
ProTip: Get there about 30min before opening. The place fills up pretty quick. Go, you wont regret it!

Moonshine brings home cooking up a notch. Inside the historic building, outside on various patios, or sitting at the bar, this is a great place to eat. It is one of our favorite Austin restaurants, walking distance from Downtown Hilton. Must try - the Bone in Half Chicken, which is beer brined, smoked and glazed with Dr. Pepper barbecue sauce.

Went to an event for Habitat for Humanity and made a short and quick stop at the bar before it began. The bartender was very nice, and she answered any questions I had with a smile. She was also quick and attentive, while making sure that all of her servers were getting their drinks for customers just as quickly. There's a very nice patio, with a fireplace even which would be great for an evening drink during colder days. I have not yet eaten there yet, but the menu looks great. They have a buffet brunch on the weekend, for a chance to try a variety of options. I'm looking forward to that.

Flavorful! Never had shrimp and grits, but decided to try something new. It was so delicious and the shrimp were cooked great. The corn bread was also great. If I come back, I will definitely go there again.

We went here for lunch and the food was really good. I got the tender belly sandwich with rosemary fries, both were excellent. The portions were more than enough. They had a nice variety of local beer and cocktails.

Amazing Sunday Buffet Brunch! I got there at about 10:45am and the wait for most people coming in was 15-20 min. I have was able to go directly to the bar and eat there. The buffet was fantastic! Great selection, the food was hot and regularly replenished.

Wonderful food and service! The kale dip was divine, center cut chop was absolutely delicious, and the peanut butter mouse pie was to die for! Our waiter (Adam) was so helpful and made our night great. If you haven't been you definitely need to!

The service is great! We only got appetizers, but the biscuits are the best biscuits I've ever had and the queso is yummy! Their margarita with the pineapple tequila is so refreshing! Can't wait to come back for a full experience!

I love everything about this place except for how crowded it gets. I usually try to bring visitors here for brunch, but lately have found places with shorter waits to try instead. Nothing against Moonshine though, the food is excellent.

One of my favorite restaurants downtown Austin. I love taking my employees and friends from out of town out for a nice lunch at Moonshine. Looking forward to trying their Sunday brunch soon.

Very cool environment.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, they actually knew food which is such a relief.

I would ve the chicken fried steak which was voted top five in Texas. A coupled that with the grits.

I would highly recommend the combination, the steak was fabulous, well seasoned, and the grits were absolutely superb. The grits we re not sloppy like you find in most restaurants, these were firm, and full of flavor.

Great atmosphere and food. Service was fast and super friendly. We arrived when it was a complete zoo (busy) and big shout out to the kitchen staff! Impressive that we didn t have to wait for our food even with it being a large party to seat. No issues with the food, it arrived hot and without delay. Servers were friendly, professional and polite. What a great evening. So worth a visit as they run a tight ship and the food was 10/10. Would definitely go back there when in Austin! Congrats guys. Well done.

This place is great, you can expect to wait on Saturday and Friday but if you go to the patio bar is first come, first served, and I liked the ambiance there better than inside the restaurant..it's perfect for couples! The food was amazing, we went with the roasted garlic bulbs, the cornflake fried chicken salad, and the hangar steak. They were all to die for! Definitely recommend!

The food, drinks and atmosphere were amazing. The patio was nice and comfortable. I had the cornflake fried chicken salad (so so good), apple pie moonshine and a watermelon distilled mule. All were fantastic. Friend ordered chicken and waffles and she was raving, too. Great place a must when you're in downtown Austin.

It s interesting how you can get to this place right as it s open and there s still a wait. It s even more interesting how when they are finally ready 10 minutes later and you walk inside and see that it s empty. Essentially they are making you wait to create the artificial line aka hype. Makes sense from a marketing point of view to be fair.

I came to Moonshine on a friend's recommendation. And i must say it is a nice restaurant. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was excellent. I had the bourbon glaze bone in pork chop and it was cooked to Perfection. Tender and juicy. Also the garlic mashed potatoes were wonderful.

Moonshine is one of my favorite restaurants in town. It has a charming atmosphere from the historic building it is housed in to the great patio with rocking chairs. My favorite thing to order is the Cornbread Stuffed Trout with Chili Sage Butter (sooo good and comes with a vegetable medley and your choice of side). Other favorites are the green chili macaroni, hangar steak, and peanut butter mousse pie with oreo crust. They only take reservations on weekdays, and be prepared for a long wait if you do not have a reservation.

Authentic and tasty ... it is a "must-try" for anyone near the Austin Convention Center. If you have a reasonable party (15-20) .. get the private room .. which is essentially a barn .. very intimate for team outings.

We waited about an hour for a table on a Thursday evening at around 7pm. It was worth the wait even though I was really hungry when we arrived. We were able to grab a table in their waiting area and have a drink and some popcorn while we waited. The chicken and waffles was incredible. Close to the best fried chicken I've ever had, the perfect waffles to go with it, and the drinks were pretty good as well. I had a bite of someone's chicken fried steak and wasn't as impressed. I'd highly recommend chicken & waffles if you're looking for some real Texas grub.

The Sunday brunch buffet was legendary. The biscuits with cheesy creamy sauce was incredible. Four full plates was barely enough to sample everything once. The wait staff was responsive - coffees and drinks perpetually full - and pleasant - with great recommendations to enjoy Austin. Ate on the patio and enjoyed fantastic conversation with my pals. Highly recommended.
