Moonshine is a great place to grab slightly upscale modern American food or grab drinks. The space is pretty huge but it is very popular, so expect a wait. The outside area is quite nice, though it would be nicer if there was a little more room to stand by the bar. The beer choices are good, but no drafts which is a bit strange for the craft beer paradise of Austin. They even offer a moonshine flight with four types of unique moonshine liquors.

Being next to a convention center, you'll often find long waits for lunch and dinner. Also, they don't take reservations. That being said, the food and service are great! I always eat there multiple times when I'm in Austin for business.

Great food! A bit of waiting for the food, but it's understandable given what we ordered and the amount of the other people there. The toilet was clogged, but that's someone else's fault, not necessarily the restaurant's. I had the steak fajita salad and the pretzel stick appetizer. Delicious! I only wish my cup was bigger so I had more water to wash it down.

Laid back restaurant in a cool building. The lighting is a bit too low but other than that nice spot. They have a good beer and drink selection with lots of local options.

For food I had the warm bacon dip to start. It was very good and was more than enough for two people. For my meal I had the jalapeno hanger steak. It was cooked just the way I liked it and full of flavor. My side of grits was great and cooked perfectly. The waitress was very friendly and attentive.

Popcorn for an appetizer, yes please! I got the pimiento cheese burger and rosemary fries and my husband ordered the fried chicken and waffles. It was by far one of the best burgers of my life and my husband was impressed with his food. He is a difficult person to impress I might add. Would definitely recommend this place if you are ever downtown in Austin!

Delicious food. A bit pricy but it was worth it. 9-10 ribs per serving, very worth it. 2 of of the three people at my table who ordered ribs had really tender ribs. The one other persons were not as tender but still good apparently.

I would go back, but there are so many restaurants in Austin to try! Will give good personal recommendations though.

They start you with this very salty and very addictive seasoned popcorn. I could not stop munching on them! I also really liked the cornbread, which was delicious and buttery. The mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy, but the flavor just really resembles the mac and cheese you get at KFC, so take that how you will. The pork sandwich was moist and enjoyable. The restaurant itself is very big, with a covered outdoor area. I liked my experience overall, but nothing blew me away.

Best food we had in Austin. We loved the drinks, the food, the service, and the atmosphere. We got there at 530 on Friday night and only waited 10 min. We loved the rainbow trout and baby back ribs. Our sides were even above and beyond delicious. Be careful ordering desserts-- they are huge. But oh so good!!

Moonshine is always a good time. If you put your name on the list and get a nice spot on their front porch while you wait it sort of makes for a whole experience. I love their Bloody Mary.

Nice

So strange. This place always has a long waiting list but I didn't find it particularly outstanding and it was expensive.

The people who work here are awesome. Helpful, hardworking, cheerful, eager to do whatever the customer needs or wants.

I had chicken fried steak. It looks big when it arrives, but there's a lot of crust with no meat in it. I had a small baked potato with the steak. I drank water. My bill, before tip, was over $20. And, sadly, to me, the steak was okay, but, I have surely had better. It WAS real meat and seemed to be hand-battered.

I don't live in Austin so i don't have other nearby restaurants with which to compare. Based on the popularity of Moonshine, i am guessing it may serve some of the best food around... maybe i just didn't order what's most popular or best.

Great fun bar and grill with close proximity to 6th Street. Bohemian wrap makes even this cheese burger lover drool. Inventive cocktails have a laid back Austin charm but be careful as you may need to call a cab. Vanilla infused Moonshine was a great drink to sip on the patio on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Service was very friendly and attentive. He never let our water or cocktails get low.

The price is right for a nice laid back Austin hangout.

Fantastic! When I arrived at Moonshine was quite crowded, experiencing an hour wait for a table. Fortunately, I was only a party of one and soon found a spot at the bar. The Manhattans are top notch, had 2. For dinner, I ordered the cornflake fried chicken salad and a side of green chile cheddar grits. The grits portion was huge and I couldn't finish it. Wow oh wow! Great meal... absolutely recommend this spot. Come with patience if the place is crowded. Enjoy!

Warm and welcoming! Wow! what a hidden gem here in Austin! Great environment, comfortable seating and wonderful atmosphere. The variety of drinks is endless, best of the best selections are a available. The food arrived fast and fresh, all homemade and it shows in appearance and taste. The calamari was tender and the chicken and waffles.... oh my... so goooodddddd!!!! Best in Texas! For desert a piece of chocolate peanutbutter mousse cake, an absolute winner! One piece will serve 3 people with ease. For the money this place is probably best y'all will find.

Great menu- too many good choices. Cocktail list is also great. We went for an early dinner so there wasn't a wait but they do not take reservations. Fried chicken and chicken fried steak were great. Corn dog shrimp were also a hit.

Okay, let me begin by saying Austin is the city for service. But this place, best service contender. Staff was great, warm, very helpful. Go here if you are in town. Food is great. Drinks were good. Definitely a must dine experience if you are ever in town.

Loved the food we sat on a patio and had a great lunch! Come early it fills up fast! FYI the desserts are huge and should be shared...the peanut butter pie was to die for!! We had fried green tomatoes( need a touch of salt) pretzels with pimento cheese a caesar salad with shrimp and the chicken tender salad with honey mustard dressing and peanut butter pie...all delicious !!

Had a great meal on the patio tonight with a group of five. I had been to Moonshine twice before and chose it based on great past experiences. Tonight I was the only one that had been there before and Moonshine did not disappoint. The appetizers were excellent and I had the flat iron steak which was a home run. Thanks for making my family and friends first dinner out in Austin a great one!

Sat at the inside bar, had great service and the bartenders were very nice and informed. Happy hour prices were good for corn dog shrimp and calamari. Bread pudding to go was packed up nice. Also has a patio and plenty of rooms for dining.

We had a group of 14 without reservations and they were able to handle our work group very well!.........We arrived at 4pm.........Valet parking was super and $7 per car..........the Sweet potatoe fries and the tomatillo dip was super.........The meatloaf was so hot!.......I would consider dumping out of the baking dish it came in, as it was still steaming well into the meal...........everyone enjoyed the meal!

It was ok. Southern comfort type of food. It has a very small menu and higher pricing. It also took 1 hour to be seated with our table of 6. The best part was our waiter, he was top notch.

Again Austin with the unisex bathrooms? I'm way too conservative for this city.

i've been here for brunch. the food was really good but it made me feel unhealthy as it is a buffet and i ate five pounds of cheesy broccoli rice. FOR BREAKFAST. my bloody mary was good and appropriately spiked, and we magically got two seats at the bar upon arrival instead of waiting the requisite hour.

downside: it's expensive. if you don't want to pig out or nurse a huge hangover, go somewhere else...

Some of the best service and food I've had in a while. The food is creative and amazing! The freshness and quality of food was outstanding! I live over an hour away and we will definitely be back!

Cool vibe, terrible parking situation. Closed road takes you to a parking lot that costs $20. Valet is only $9 though but waiting around for your car can be tough.

Vibe is you basic trendy, dark space, small bar but cool employees. They are friendly and attentive and seem to handle the chaos well. Wait times are a bit too long for my liking.

Food was pretty good. Grits were thicker than I expected but were well seasoned and soaked up sauce well. Shrimp had a nice flavor and were cooked very well. Beyond burger was forgettable, fries were fine, tots were better. Steak was delicious and fried green tomatoes were a hit. Worth the visit but arrive before 5:15.

I had not heard much about Moonshine but when my brother and sister in law were in town we were looking for something that was decently priced. I'm not sure what pointed us in the Moonshine direction but after looking at the menu online, we made reservations. The food is pretty good and you get a lot for what you pay. We ordered the cheese plate for an appetizer and it was pretty big and had a variety of cheese with grapes and bread. My boyfriend and I share the pork chop. SO good. It was a thick and heart cut of pork that had a delicious but not to overpowering apple-bourbon glaze. I will definitely go again.

Moonshines is amazing! They have the Sunday brunch with so many food choices. The atmosphere is awesome and the staff is friendly. It does get packed on Sunday but the wait is pretty quick. Waffles are so good!

Fantastic! Chicken fried steak is awesome as is the steak and eggs. And great cocktails and outdoor seating. Super service! Highly recommended especially if staying near the convention center and the Fairmont.
