Super awesome to see the store featured in Project runway! We even got to see Swatch. The staff were courteous and welcomed us as soon as we walked in. If you have a big bag, just know you will need to check it at the door.

I wish I lived closer! The fabric and notion selection can't be beat and all the staff are super helpful and friendly. I've been in 2 times (I live 10 hrs away) this year and been impressed both times. I wish I had been there when Swatch was in too, but maybe next visit! :)

Nothing like getting yelled at to have my bag checked and when I go to get it checked I m told it s ok. I go to look around and I m yelled at again to have my bag checked. This has happened every time I have come here. I won t be coming here again nor will I be ordering online. I will also be informing my sewing friends of my experiences here. Btw they do not warn you when project runway will be there so hope for the best when you go cause if they are there it s a -10/10

If you go to the store it is great. The representatives help you find fabrics and the inventory is amazing. Online horrible. The shipping is super slow, which makes it hard if I need something for my business fast. They might as well get rid of their online reps. They will do absolutely as little as possible. Their answers are ones any average person can figure out by themselves by looking through the online store. It is not only frustrating but a waste of time for business people like me. My suggestion to the Mood owner, have an online rep that is at the actual store on the floor so that they can actually help. I am sure you have many customers like me who don't live there and it would be nice to help us out since we can't visit the store. Look at some of the 3 star reviews. They are all accurate.

Staff is either really friendly or totally nasty and elitist. But this place has everything and is a Mai stay of the Garment industry. I mean obviously, as it was a feature on Project Runway.

More than just a fabric store, this longstanding establishment embodies the passion of the fashion industry. From fabrics to trims, from books to classes, they empower any designer or hobbiest to achieve any fashion dream.

I came here on a Monday around 11am. A pretty good time to browse. Not many customers. Also, being about a week from Christmas day, I assume the student customers are all done with their finals and on their way back home, out of NYC, which makes the store extra quiet this time of year.

I love coming here, because it takes me back to being in fashion school. It makes me nostalgic. I used to buy most of my school project fabrics from Mood. I won an award from a project that utilized Mood fabric. Such good memories! And they just have a great selection of fabrics. High-end, low-end, almost anything that you could imagine, you can find here.

Even though the store wasn t busy, it was still a little difficult to find someone to help me. I still take advantage of their swatching service, before I buy a fabric. I take home swatches to compare the color and hand-feel to other pieces I m going to use with that fabric.

You can t swatch just any fabric. For example, the designer beaded fabrics can t be swatched. And probably some of the other really expensive fabrics. But all the basic fabrics can be swatched. So get swatches cut by the sales associates before you get full yardage cut. Fabric can t be returned, as it is already cut from the bolt.

The selection of fabrics is vast. The staff was very helpful. I came In looking for upholstery fabric. the prices are a bit high but the fabrics are of very good quality. I found the remnant used to reupholster an accent chair for my bedroom for $20 and I absolutely love it.

As a die hard Project Runway fan I've always wanted to visit the store. So when I finally made my way to NYC it was literally the first place I went after dropping my bags off at the hotel!!
For once the picture in my head paled in comparison to the reality of the iconic fabric store. First, imo, it's actually much bigger than it appears on the show. There's fabric EVERYWHERE..but it is well organized and easy to find what you're looking for. The staff was ridiculously gracious and accommodating. I was there on a busy Saturday afternoon when there were tons of people doing real fabric shopping and not just browsing, taking selfies / videos, and basking in the "Mood" like me. Yet, my fangirling was respectfully indulged anyway :D The absolute best part of my visit was when I got to the check-out to buy a Mood t-shirt & bag and the cashier (I really wish I'd have asked her name she was awesome) took the time to share a few fun facts about the scenes filmed there. Although I'm certain she's been asked the same questions a million times, she shared in my excitement and made me feel like I was the first person who ever asked her!!
Needless to say my visit to Mood started off my NYC trip on a high note :)

Even though I could have been labeled a tourist, no one here made me feel that way. Everyone was helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable. The selection is as fast as I expected and I was thrilled to find a fabric that would have been very difficult if not impossible to locate in AZ (there isn't a huge demand for heavy wool blends in this climate). I can't deny that the highlights were finding a gorgeous fabic, being in a Project Runway iconic location, and petting a very sweet puppy. It is totally a fabric version of Disneyland (happiest place on Earth)!

At the time that I went was around 3pm it was just too chaotic for me. Definitely has more options than you local fabric stores but it really depends on what you are looking for. I was excited to go and look for some high end buttons to put on my coat this year but the experience was less than impressive. I felt rushed and almost annoyed that the counter is right in front of the button wall. Every time I tried to step back to look at the buttons from at least a foot away someone would bump into me saying excuse me in order to stand on line. I absolutely get the logic behind it but unfortunately the amount of tourist at the check out and the famous dog Swatch laying right by the button wall, ! Lol i wanted to be in and out but everyone just wanted selfies with Swatch. Overall I would give it another try at another time. 8 glass buttons for $38 its pretty pricey but they look amazing!

Mood is lovely. It has an eclectic selection of fabrics and its own in-house line of prints that tantalize every time I visit the site. I've previously placed orders without issue- however, this most recent experience has me second-guessing continuing to use Mood as a source.

I've spent the last month and a half trying to chase down an answer from customer service, as my order would not produce shipping quotes. It would have been nice to know a month and a half ago that a product in my cart was unable to cross the border. It also would have been nice if the customer service rep who promised me a list of these no-go products had followed up with the thing they promised three days ago. This situation has resulted in a significant delay on my own freelancing business that didn't need to happen had the customer service team replied to my inquiries over a month ago.

I still have to place an order with them, and I will follow through on that. I won't get a discount on the purchase like the rep promised me, because I'm tired of having to do the leg work on making this situation right. Moving forward, I will do my best to avoid Mood as a materials source. I cannot work with a company that has such an ineffective customer service branch. My business will not be missed, but other reviews indicate that this issue isn't isolated, and if Mood isn't yet feeling the pinch of this negligence, they will in due time.

Please do better. This part of the business is so easy to get right and y'all are really, really dropping the ball.

BUYER BEWARE!! I have always loved the fabrics here and have bought quite a few in person in NYC. BUT I recently ordered a $25/yd Nicole Miller stretch twill online and spent hours and hours making a beautiful jacket. The fabric became extremely wrinkled as I worked on it, but I assumed I could fix it with ironing or washing. But no, it looks HORRIBLE and is UNFIXABLE. I tried everything. I called to let them know, not even expecting a refund, but the woman on the phone treated me like I was an idiot and tried to tell me that the pictures on the website showed all the wrinkles, which is ridiculous. This fabric should NOT be sold, but they could care less. Typical New York retailer -- they know everything and customers are stupid. In my case, I was stupid to trust them.
