This place is great, the atmosphere is just so relaxing and you can hear the sounds of the birds in the morning. The pool is soo clean and big. The chalets are nice and cosy with aircons since it's very hot. You can just sit outside, have a braai and chill.

Weekend of 4 Oct 2016

Weekend of 4 Oct 2016

Camped well, plenty of space for forest wagon, awning and large dome tent for the 2 teenage boys ...... ablution fairly modern but the cleaners were scarce .... pool was dirty as well as the baby pool, the management was urgently required versus visitors drinking drinks in the pool, glass bottles were everywhere and should be a clear rule ... not acceptable ni !!!!!!! I will visit the resort again because it is so close to Pretoria and yet secluded and away from the noise of the city .......

The lodging facilities are on par with most resorts of this kind, but in the dry seasons the camping facilities look bare and the swimming pool at the campgrounds is filled with dead grass. Ths swimming pool at the lodge at the top of the hill is top class tough. Friendly staff, and lots of activities.

Nice camping site and close to gate. However the lodge is up a dirt road on the hill. Only an outside pool and put put course to entertain. There is a kids play room at the restaurant and a craft shop. The charlets are very nice, not all have good views but quiet if you want to rest. Animals roam between the houses. Game drives are also available.

For a break away from busy-ness and stress this is a superb resort where peace and quiet prevail!
We only stayed for the weekend and were very sad that it was not for a full week.
The resort is very well maintained and service is delivered with a smile. It looks as though the staff are happy to work there!

Very close to the main cities of Gauteng SA. Easy reachable with any car, but a small stretch of gravel road has to be driven. It can be a challenge on a rainy day.
Chalets are kept in a acceptable standards. Small maintenance flaws where observed.
Plenty of things to do for the young generation, and this has a negative effect on the older generation.
The biggest disapointment is that you can not drive in your own vehicle on a game drive.

The camp site has a lot of thorns(dubbeltjies). The supertube is rather dangerous. The restuarant is nice and the crocodile tour was great. The shop on the premises is a bit pricey. Otherwise it is a nice comfortable campsite.

Nice camp site and staff very friendly and willing to help - problem no control over loud music from other campers so if you want to listen to night life might not be for you - happened both times we were here

Great family resort, management are very helpful and so are the staff. Impressed by management that uphold the family concept and low tolerance for alcohol abuse and profanities, thank you. Big thumbs up.

An oasis! Spent a week here....and enjoyed it. Weekends may be a little crowdy so plan nicely. The crocodile tour is quite something and the staff are genuinely friendly. Accommodation is very clean and homely. Hard to believe this is less than an hour from Pretoria!

This is the caravan park, not the lodge. It is an average park. We are in the shared facilities area. There is only one ablution. It can be a bit crowded over a long weekend. Private kitchen and bathroom camping sites are also available.
Not enough braaiers available. Was also some noise pollution in the form of car radios. Not to loud though. An average cold water swimming pool with no fence around the pool area. The loge area is much nicer. I would rate the lodge a 4+/5 beautiful lawn and put put course with tennis courts a nice pool and a wel stock well priced shop

Nice place to bring the family with and to relax. The chalets are on par. The cleanliness was OK. The chalets are just a bit too dark for my taste.

However, the staff were extremely friendly, there are enough good facilities to keep busy and the view from the restaurant / bar area is so beautiful. I also loved that there were some wild buck roaming freely around the lodge. It really does give you the sense that you are in the bush and away from it all. I definitely recommend for young families who need a break that is not too far a drive.

Clean, well established caravan spots with grass and shade. Plenty of activities at the lodge with decent pricing. The caretaker is friendly and accommodating. The ablutions are clean, spacious and well kept. Camping sites are not demarcated, and since we visited directly after Easter weekend, the camp was quite empty with a lot of space and privacy. There is some good gavel (short) traveling, suitable to any type of caravan. Power and water points are sufficient, although you do notice a dip in power when using high wattage equipment like kettles and hot plates. Look under the trees for signs of tree sap dripping before setting up your camp. There is a crocodile farm near by, with a safari vehicle taking you there and back. The trip to the crocodile farm includes a brief introduction about the farm itself, as well as some information about crocodiles. The guide is entertaining and mostly correct about the crocodiles. There is a chicken farm close by that I assume is being used to feed the crocodiles. The chicken farm can be a bit noisy in the early morning, but the sound fades away quickly with the singing of the local birds once the sun comes up. Close to Pretoria, this is a good family camping area that we will visit again.

The lodge is an RCI resort, and so my expectations are high. It lived up to it.
The Chalets are neat and spacious and the facilities on site are all you need.
A pub, restaurant, convenience store and children's play room cover all the basics;
Putt putt, swimming and game drives complete the picture.
At the caravan site 500m is a big super tube (great for kids and adults)
Very hot out this side of the world but a very pleasant place to stay, and reasonable pricing

Our experience was mostly positive. The game drive was amazing, our guide was such a genuine friendly guy. However, only one bedroom has aircon, where I feel both should have.. The bar always had an issue.. One day they didn't have coke, another day something else was out of stock. We didn't try the take away. Overall a lovely quiet place where our kids could roam and swim freely. Unfortunately lots and lots of flies...

Beautiful venue. Lovely neat chalets.. Lots of activities and games for kids and adults. The game drive was awesome, got to see the animals very close up. Definitely a winner. Only the shower and toilets in the unit need to be cleaned better or upgraded.

The Lodge itself is very nice and so far we have enjoyed it,until we order LARGE pizzas but in turn received what seems to be a small. I don't know what would have happened if we ordered medium pizzas.
R 110.00 for ONE. We are not happy visitors

On the 15 February I went to this lodge monateng I was treated like a common criminal I arrived very late at 23:50 .when they checked on their system they didn't find my name but still I had proof they chased me away at 1:00 am in the morning I demanded to see their manager he came didn't even say sorry , he just demanded for us to go away , at that time of the morning. I was with my kids treated bad in front of them I have never being humiliated like that . My experience was bad I will never go back there or recommend for any of my close friends.

The accomodation, pool, game drives and staff are excellent but Monateng Safari Lodge is a shade of what it used to be; the restaurant has closed down, the bar had only two beers, the take away has such a limited menu, closes way too early (5pm) and the only thing worth eating are pizzas (which aren't available half the time) and if you try to order something after 4pm the staff make you feel like they're doing you a favour. The take away especially needs a MAJOR REVAMP! The biggest problem with the lodge is the crocodile farm; 15 000+ crocs that are farmed and then sold to buyers all over the world for their skin, meat, oil, etc. We were horrified when they boasted so proudly about this on their "croc feeding tour".

Cocktails was mainstays cocktails in a box (only found out afterwards), asked for a tequila sunrise and they made it without having grenadine could have just said they don't have all the ingredients before making it. Lots and lots of flies was told it's about the drought but think having a croc farm on the premises and having to feed them loads of chickens doesn't help with the fly issue. Lazarus was the friendliest and best tour guide on the game drive, was very knowledgeable and saw loads of animals.
