Wait to go here until the pandemic is over. It is an expensive vacation. It is one where plastic utensils, paper plates and napkins, standing in line for food really should not be the safety alternative.

Very pleasant place to be. Views are extraordinary, the mountain house itself is very old and well maintained. Wonderful staff, very friendly and helpful. There is no shortage of things to do, both for the outdoor enthusiast and for those who prefer to stay inside and appreciate the architecture, dance in the evening or take in a lecture.

So much to do from hiking to horseback riding to golf to canoeing. The food is excellent and service is first class...and there s so much more! $$$$ Go if you can !!!!

Currently spending my honeymoon here! First time visitor to Mohonk, and am loving exploring all it has to offer. This place is basically Hogwarts. Beautiful decor, amazing views (we're staying Lake side, 5th floor), great entertainment, and fantastic food. Staff has all been warm, welcoming, and gone out of their way to make us comfortable.

2nd time here. Still finding new places to explore and things to do. Used the pool for the 1st time, pretty amazing. Food was good, not as impressive as last time I was here, but still very good. Trails are awesome. Rooms are very clean and hotel staff is extremely friendly. Definitely a recommended and will be back!!

I love going to this place! We held out group retreat here for the second year in three years. Their buffet is amazing ... Although they could use a few more vegetarian options. The lake activities, the spa, the swimming pool, the skytop hike will keep you busy. I went running in the back woods and had lots of fun with the scenery and the endless trails. The staff is very accommodating ... At one point I really felt like eating yogurt and one Josh Oagaard (if I spelled that right) went out of his way to get me exactly what I wanted.

We spent the day for our anniversary celebration. We hiked in the morning, went to the spa and then had lunch at the chef's selection buffet. The grounds and hotel were very impressive. What sets this place apart is the service. From the valets to the front desk to the spa to the wait staff, all provided superior service. The next time we go there it will be to stay over.

Amazing views, tremendous hiking that may be best in Northeast. This place is expensive but worth every penny. Dsytrupping requires tickets purchased ahead but the quality, diversity and quantity of trails make this wooddy home of the Gunks a real paradise for hikers of all ages.

My favorite place in the world. Period. If I could spend the rest of my life there, I would. Absolutely first class all the way. The scenery, the staff, the food, the activities... Nothing is left to be desired. I'd give 10 stars if I could. Seriously, it's that great.

Great place. Good to have a family retreat, disconnect from busy life, connect with nature, or just relax. There are horses and canoes, but not tv in the bedroom unless you request one. The food is included and there are all kinds of food stations to satisfied everyone.

We read a lot of the reviews before deciding to buy a day pass (29/ per) We called to ask if they offered breakfast but they only offered brunch at $80 plus per. It's going to be 2 miles from parking to house or start of trail. The paths are well marked but make sure to keep your map with you so you can decide where you want to go. This is a hiker's dream land and it is really a great place to spend walking and to challenge yourself to do rock scrambling and to try new things like the lemon squeeze or the labirynth and visit the Skytop and or find new hidden areas.. A really nice area with lots of views and areas to just relax and enjoy the views.i would give it 5 stars, if I wasn't disappointed with the not having breakfast there. Their pricing for the hike is a bit high but worth it.

I couldn't belive I was still in NY! The views were amazing, the food was great, the staff was wonderful. Our lakefront room was devine. At night we sat on the balcony listening to the live musicians on the pier. And yes, one night we burned logs in the fireplace. This was the best first vacation after Covid I could've had.

Beautiful location! Lots of trails to hike. Pretty little lake for canoeing, paddle boarding, etc. Paid $75 + "administrative fees" + taxes, each for a buffet lunch. They served tea and coffee, but for that much money, I prefer to order from a menu and be served my meal, instead of the up and down for each course in the buffet.
A night's stay for 2 of us, which would include 3 meals, would have cost over $1000, for 2 of us.
All in all, overpriced, I believe.

This was the first time we've been to Mohonk Mountain and we really enjoyed being here. The guests were great at wearing mask and keeping a social distance. The staff ensured everything was sanitized between uses to include the water craft and lawn games. We definitely plan on coming back.

Absolutely gorgeous views. The workers all seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs, it really makes a difference. Their game room is small and has things like foosball, airhockey, ping pong, mini shuffleboard, a pinball machine, and arcade machine. There are a seemingly infinite amount of places to sit, whether it bs inside or out. So much to do, so beautiful.

Mohonk Mountain House is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are immaculate and the staff always go above and beyond. Additonally the food is delicious and the drinks just as good. The Spa is expensive but EXTREMELY worth the price, and I highly recommend getting any of the message services they offer.

Way to expensive.. $3,675 for 3 nights.. Thanks for feeding me.. Lol.. It's the least you could do.. It's hiking trails and a lake in the middle of nowhere.. $1,225.00 per night for what we had is an absolute rip off.. You should be ashamed of yourselves.. If you told me $500.00 per night, maybe.. For what we paid for 3 nights I expect the same service that I get at the Saint Regis in Manhattan. Sorry Mohonk.. Cute.. But not that cute..

The mountain house is absolutely lovely, and the surrounding mountains and lake are breathtaking. HOWEVER, 12% of your bill will be charged to you only on your last day, and will not be quoted as part of your room price (presumably so that the owners can avoid paying NYS hotel taxes by styling this charge as an "Administrative Fee"). Accordingly, you're in for a several hundred dollar sticker shock when you check out, depending on how many days you've stayed.

Other specific complaints: (1) the water was not hot in the morning and never got steaming hot (even after I ran it for 20 minutes as instructed by the front desk); and (2) the house is clearly under-staffed during winter months. I called room service at least five times before I was able to speak to a human, and there was literally NO ONE working in the spa locker room. (Awkward when you need a towel!).

Otherwise, if you've got money to burn (even money you weren't expecting to burn!!) this place is lovely.

Hate being nickel and dimed. The brunch is not cheap yet after paying the high price you may want to enjoy the grounds. Nope. For hotel guest only unless you want to pay more. Seriously.

Great place to recharge your energy on the weekend...

Great place to recharge your energy on the weekend and avoid flying to do so. Hotel is 151 years old at the time of writing this review. Mohonk Mountain House is historical landmark and located on nature preserve property with a lot of hiking trails and sky lake.
There few things that important to know:
1. Rooms in hotel cute and you feel like you went back in time, but lack of good sound proofing as hotel was built long time ago.
2. All tips included on property for over night guests.
3. Lots of free activities on the property.
4. Beautiful pool with under water music.
5. Nice service.
6. Drinks price in the menu not include taxes and fees, so be prepared.
7. Hotel is expensive, but don't set your expectations too high. Once again hotel is old.
8. There is no TVs in the rooms.
9. WiFi fast and works almost every where through out the hotel.
10. There is dress code for the dinner.

Our experience was incredible. We are from Massachusetts and came to visit some friends . They took us for the dinner buffet which was just incredible. From the fish to prime rib, Asian dumplings, chicken soup,
Duck, pasta station, veggies and salad. Then the desserts were just awesome. We cannot say enough about the food.

Have stayed several times. Yes expensive but the mountain house is all inclusive with meals (very good food) and the resort activities included, it is comparable to other resorts when that is factored in. I highly recommend to stay at least once in your life.

The place is wonderful! The bedroom with fireplace is perfect for enjoying the cold winter and snow! The indoor pool is great, overlooking outside. While you enjoy hot water you can see the snow falling outside !!! The food is very good too, with a buffet with great choices !!! Highly recommend this hotel !!!

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of NYC but don t want to travel far, consider Mohonk Mountain House. You get to enjoy the peacefulness of nature without all the noise, sound, and light pollutions. It takes a good 20min just to get to the lobby from the gate. Great place for family with kids as there s activities like skating, hiking, kayaking, etc. my favorite part is definitely the food! I was expecting food similar to what you will get on cruise ships or upstate NY restaurants, but it s so much better. The 4 course dinner was delicious, delicate, and sophisticated.

Highly recommend the day pass to be able to hike on the grounds which I would give 5 stars to the trail systems they have.....however the 1 star is for the hotel. we stayed here for 2 nights and found that it wasn't worth the price tag it came with since the wallpaper was falling off, the balcony was also falling apart, and was only impressed with the exterior of it to be honest. the dinner which presents itself online to be prestigious was far from the actual casual dinner we experienced which was everything short of grand. Dinner service was terrible, food was served cold and when I requested to have a cappuccino instead of the dessert they served I was taken back since the server denied my request. Save yourself the big bucks and just go for the day

Mohonk offers great value all around. Plenty of self guided things to do & see. Reliable programs if you like exercise, yoga or outdoor edu. Me & my squeeze usually sign up for dinner/brunch. The meals for a little over $200 per couple include a day pass that allows one to hike around, park the car. The meal every time includes something new. They have fine dining too. Congratulations if you do go to Mohonk. You will really love it and wonder why it took you so long to visit this top notch facility.

Hiking trails are beautiful, I don't think there's one spot with a bad view on the eagle cliff trail. Just wish day hikers didn't have to do over 2.5 miles to get from the parking lot to the trails they came for.

Extremely expensive and I cannot figure out why. W...

Extremely expensive and I cannot figure out why. We tried in vain to figure this place out, it clearly has a cult-ish clientele who return again and again and probably pay a small fortune every time.

Spent four nights in July with my family of five and my in-laws in two different rooms. The space around the old hotel are really nice and interesting to "hike" (really walk) around, but otherwise the hotel is a bit old and frumpy, but what I'd guess you'd expect. The rooms at best are average and tired, but clean. Our larger family room had two queen beds on opposite sides of a wall, with no balcony and windows that offered average views. The common spaces are likewise tired, but there is no question there are some really nice views.

Some lake activities are included, but others you might expect like carriage rides or horseback riding are a steep up-charge. We did partake in their 9-hole golf course, it was fun but very hilly, so not for the amateur, but at least the fees were minimal.

Three courses of meals are included, but _no_ alcohol included in the price, nor even espresso/cappuccino, it was very bizarre that even coffees were extra. Dining consisted of table restaurant service by reservation, a buffet or an outdoor barbecue. By far the best may have been the last one, as for all meals, the menu selections were very repetitive from day to day, we found ourselves having a really tough time after day 2. The food quality was at best OK, some things better than others, but again, hard to say it was fine dining.

Our kids partook in the kids club and they mostly had a good time, though the older kids (11, 8) were bored and wanted out. At least they were distracted by the limited lake offerings of paddle boats and kayaks. The kids did enjoy some of the trails, especially their famous "Lemon Squeeze/Labyrinth" rock scramble, but other indoor activities were limited to a very small billiards room and a small, mostly broken game room. I suspect older kids would be very challenged here. Bear in mind, rooms do not include TVs, except for an upcharge. At least WiFi was included (wow, at least that wasn't extra).

I do want to say all the staff, including the younger staff were really all very nice and polite, and I really hope (pray) that the high cost of the resort really does make it into their pockets, because otherwise it is obscene for what they charge.

As best we can tell, this is mostly for urbanites from NYC who call this going to the country, as we still cannot figure why they can charge the exorbitant price for rooms, but nonetheless the nickle and diming and what limited things the price covered was a bit crazy. Do not get me wrong, I have payed a lot more for peak season Caribbean trips, but with Mohonk, I cannot find the value at all. For what we paid, we could have gone to a week in Europe with 3 star hotels for a week, maybe twice!

If you have no value judgement on the cost - its maybe a 4. If you will have issues with price/value, probably not for you.
