Simply amazing. Had a water/mountain view and couldn't have asked for more. Spacious balcony allows for rest and relaxation. Staff was amazingly attentive and readily available at every turn. I highly recommend a visit.

Let me start off by saying this has been the best place my husband and I have ever been. Amazing food, environment, scenary, and so many things to do! The staff is absolutely amazing, super nice, accommodating and friendly! I cannot wait to come back in the fall! I Mohonk! I highly recommend it!

HIKES

HIKES
this is a great place for hiking and walks- plenty of options, well kept trails, lots of different options and terrains.

ACCOMMODATIONS (***)
this place is obviously 150 years old- which would be fine but for the price, you d expect a bit more in terms of comforts. While the place was clean, of course it s loud (children, cars, etc.). The rooms are dated and dusty.

FOOD (**)
The biggest surprise and disappointment was the food. It was extremely difficult to eat healthily here- the food was greasy, loaded with sugar, and much of it was fried. The service menu was quite similar to the buffet so we felt much happier serving ourselves. For being in the Hudson valley you d really expect more fresh food. But they also nickel and dime you, charging $5 for an espresso when you re paying $1000/night for a room!

SERVICE (****)
Everyone was extremely kind and professional. It was clear that it was staffed with an army of foreign exchange students, I hope that program is a fair experience for them- they are clearly working incredibly hard.

Overall, we d love to return but not to stay. The price just isn t right to stay in a massive old house with heavy and low quality food. We loved the grounds and had an amazing time, but didn t find value in the price.

There is no way to describe how amazing this place is! The scenery, the service, the people, everything about it is incredible. We will definitely be coming back here every couple of years, it has become our new favorite place!

Been there for lost of special occasions, hiking, tours through work and with friends! The grounds are simply stunning! I love the Lemon Squeeze hike, but you can also take the steady inclined Skytop path to get you to the Skytop tower (a notorious structure along the skyline ridge seen from town in New Paltz). Food is amazing and don t pass up a milkshake or other specialty beverages in the gift shop! I splurged last year and went for a facial at the spa and it was WELL WORTH the money! Truly a great way to spend a special occasion!

So the hotel itself is in need of a serious upgrade. The beds are horrible (very curved,) the rooms are extremely loud (you can hear everything in the hallway and outside, I heard two other people complaining about the same thing) the air conditioner in my room didn't work and the maintenance guy said it was normal (if it's been 2 hours and it hasn't dropped one degree I would say it's not working) and the front desk/valet staff had a New York attitude. So overall, I would give the hotel one star and would never stay there again. Saying that, the food was outstanding. Every meal had amazing food which was cooked to order and done really well. My dinner waitress was delightful, and the hiking was fun. I'd love to go back to eat and hike the labrynth again, but will not be staying the night

This place is awesome! We took one of the rock scramble trails up to the tower which was so much fun and gave us asking views of the whole valley. It was very windy and cold so if I were to come back it would be when it is warmer probably during the summer. But overall great experience

Went there last month, and just like the other guest below, I also noticed gate staff especially make you feel like you shouldn't be there, despite what you pay to stay/eat/hike there. In the brunch, waiters/waitresses are so stiff and looks like one has to pay them some serious cash to smile. I used to work in this industry and I fully know the drill, smile, smile, smile is the first thing to do when working in a restaurant. This place is great but its staff is below grade. In valet service, the supervisor was snapping fingers at his people like a mad man. This hotel need to retrain their whole crew for a whole month to refresh their true role in the hotel and to get rid of their bitchy attitudes. Lastly, I ate a piece of metal from the food when having brunch, I showed it to the matre'd (looked like he is) and seemed he's not surprised at all.

Wonderful.

Wonderful.
1. Food is from local farms. All fresh all the time.

3. Outdoor trails...millions of them, all levels.
4. Linens bedding immaculate
5. Sedate older crowd on off weekends. Holidays must be crowded.
Plenty of help...all very nice.
Main idea....nature is more beautiful than any other experience. Its the Majesty of Gods beneficence and His presence is all around you.
Go if you like plenty of outdoor experiences and some connection to natural beauty.

Nice

Mohonk is the quintessential Upstate vacation. You won t be able to find better, so long as you can look past the prices... From the food to the scenery, there isn t anything like it. Mohonk is a really special place.

Completely unacceptable customer service. A guest should never have to wait over 90 minutes for their car, especially after being told it would be 15 minutes. After spending &1,500 a night this is a complete and total outrage. You pay top end priced and receive worst in class service.

Lovely vacation spot for people that enjoy the outdoors. Great for families that like to hike or want to try kayaking. Will accommodate vegan folks - just give a call ahead to ensure some tasty meals.

Very quaint and beautiful location in the catskills. We stayed in Grove Lodge that was gorgeous and very roomy. Of course this place is very pricey, but of course included 3 meals a day. Chefs stations (buffet) was excellent as every day there was different dishes. My complaint was difficult to get all three meals in one day. Pretty much a one time vacation, as going back just does not make any sense. "ONCE YOU SEE IT, NO NEED TO GO BACK"

Here is an update on my 1 star review and I'm afraid it only makes a 2. I wish I could get to 3 but 2 is just OK which is what our stay was. For the two of us we paid well over $1,000 per night for a full board package. Many of the covid restrictions put a damper on a lot of the experience but I'm not dinging them for that even though their pricing does not take into account that there are things ordinarily they would offer that are now off the table. If you are going to MMH then here is my advice - make sure you book all your meals and activities well in advance as otherwise you will be disappointed. On Saturday night we could not be seated in the main dining room. The alternative was room service or you get take out from the dining room and find a place to eat it. The food is the same but if you take it in the room (our did not have table that we could both sit at FYI) or from the dining room it comes in boxes with plastic utensils. On Friday we did have a seat in the dining rom and enjoyed a very pleasant table service dinner. On Saturday we were left with the boxed dinner that we picked up and then found a bench on the outside porch area to eat it - no drinks service. The food was all in boxes and not very hot. I think it is terrible that guests paying the same price get two very different dining experiences - quite frankly it tarnished the whole visit. The evenings are very quiet - the bar had limited seating and you had to buy food to drink as per the state requirements. There was plenty of space that they could have set up outside bars for guests to enjoy after dinner service. They just did not use their imagination. This hotel is set in a beautiful location and that is the wonder of it. Thankfully we had glorious weather. My advice would be don't bother paying to stay. Go in as a day hiker. That way you get to enjoy most of the hiking trails and see the lovely setting. We won't be bothering with a return visit

Really an amazing place. Every single person working here is a pleasure to talk with. Each and every one of the staff will do everything they can to make your time here perfect. The grounds are beautiful. No matter how frazzled the staff are they take care of YOU. Breakfast, lunch, & dinner were always incredible. I could go on and on, but I'm exhausted from ice skating, cross country skiing, and swimming all day with our kids...btw, great WiFi through out.

This review is only based on the $27 per person to hike to the Skytop tower. Aside from that, without a doubt this place has spectacular and breathtaking grounds.

I thought at first it was a state reserve but it is in fact privately owned, unfortunately. Oh, and don't even bother to bring a bike to ride in the area (You won't be allowed to ride without a helmet and you must bring a lock).

You are not allowed to ride the bike to any of the attractions. It must be locked to a tree or something sometimes over 1/4 mile away while you explore them (Super inconvenient). Not to mention getting around is very confusing and some of the hills are mighty steep. You will be given a map at the entrance displaying the areas in which you can ride and let me tell you they really are extremely limited (See pic below) My advise to you is leave your bike at home.

Lastly, FYI you also will not be allowed at the mountain house unless you are registered guess. So thinking that you will actually visit the house is out of the question unless you book a room for upwards of $600 per night on average.

Really beautiful setting, like nothing I've ever seen before. The resort part is all inclusive, we've never stayed there. You can buy day passes to use the trails and walk the enormous grounds. If you go for a meal, especially Sunday Brunch, they give you a day pass included. Spend the entire day there, any time of the year, it's worth it!

Mohonk Mountain House was everything we expected and more. The scenery is beyond beautiful images don t do justice. The staff was welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay, and any requests were done in a timely-manner. There are plenty of activities, both indoors and outdoors, to do to keep occupied; if you re just looking to relax, the spa and a walk by the lake are great options. However, the most memorable activity of the weekend was our forest bathing session with Nina Smiley. The session is about mindfulness, learning how to be fully present and in the moment, without judging. We conversed with Nina while walking alongside the lake. Through mid-session, we sat down overlooking the lake and Nina emphasized the importance of breathing, focusing on the now, clearing the mind of thoughts. She asked questions and quickly understood the way our minds functioned. Before we could finish a sentence, she knew exactly what to say and how to help. By the end of our session, both my boyfriend I felt this is a skill we want to practice and master. During our time together with Nina, we both were able to focus on our breathing, our thoughts, and control what we feed our minds. There were times Nina was able to read our minds and help us come back to the present when she anticipated we d sidetracked ourselves. It was a truly magnificent experience that we hope can continue. We look forward to our next session with Nina she started something impactful.

This session, or just mindfulness in general, isn t only for busy/stressful lifestyles; it can apply to anyone and everyone. It s a skill we all need to empower and practice.

Thank you Nina!

Beautiful property with hikes and swim. The building is very cute and the room are old but cozy. The spa and the pool and clean and in good condition, it is very pleasant. It get be crowded especially in the dining room, where it gets a bit loud. The food is delicious and there is a lot of choice. Be aware it is pricey.

Beautiful, just beautiful. Old world charm like no other place I have seen. Pricey, but the meals that are included make it worth it. The new spa is a welcome addition, as is the bar. After a few days there, I always feel so rejuvenated! Great for a special occasion, or for a treat just for yourself. Highly recommended!!!

From the moment we entered the property we were made to feel like family. Everyone we came into contact with was warm & friendly. The grounds & scenery were beautiful, the room spectacular and all the meals were OUTSTANDING. If you haven't had a chance to visit this historic Mountain House you're missing out on something truly special. We're already planning our next stay:)

We visited for the hike in the labyrinth. Rough climb for the complete beginner but amazing experience nonetheless! It's not for people who are afraid of heights, you might get stuck on a ladder for fear of falling...but the views are amazing! There are other trails for those who are vertically challenged though. Also of note, if you are claustrophobic you may not like it either because at times you are literally in a chasm and stuck between a rock and a hard place hah! We are planning to go back with more friends and possibly stay at the mountain for a night.

This is going to be a tough review to write because my opinions are mixed...

The good: The property is amazing, secluded and charming. We literally booked based off the photographs, and it was exactly as we would've expected. The staff was very polite and helpful. We visited in early April and though the weather didn't agree, there were numerous outdoor activities to enjoy.

The bad: During our visit, the kitchen was undergoing a renovation. So our buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinners were served in smaller cramped conference rooms and the buffet was setup where the bar(which was missed)would normally be. The meal hours were also very limited. Miss the window, miss the meal. I am assuming that the menus and hours were limited due to the renovation. The food was good, but there were very few options. Breakfast was very sub-par, lunch and dinner were ok. Compared to similarly priced resorts I've been to, the food options were abysmal. Actually compared to some local $9.99 buffets, the food options were lacking. Hopefully this is all due to the kitchen renovation. We did receive an email about the renovations after we booked, so we were warned.

Overall: If this resort cost 1/3 of what we paid, this would be a much more positive review. But at this price, my expectations were much higher. I chose to book this resort over other options despite the price, but also expecting a higher level of service. I just can't say that the resort justified the price.

Would I go back? Unless they lowered the price, I'd be inclined to try another resort.
