We attend a wedding reception and the service was first rate. Nothing appeared to be too much when requested. The room was good, the food likewise and the location and setting beautiful. I highly recommend this location, and the church, which is two minutes by foot, also for a wedding.

Lovely venue for a wedding we were attending.
The rooms for the ceremony, breakfast and evening do were lovely and intimate.
The bedrooms are fabulous, big beds and decorated to a fantastic standard all the rooms have an individual feel and are a unique style.
The staff are very helpful and attentive, helping to make our stay and the wedding we attended even more enjoyable.

Went for a viewing for a wedding. Although the venue is beautiful, we found the format of the wedding costs to be very rigid and inflexible(lots of "that's extra"). It may suit others but for ourselves we were not so keen. Place is lovely and very picturesque and worth viewing.

Stunning pub. The village is amazing and really worth a trip if you're from out of town. The service was a little slow and didn't have the excuse of being overly busy but the staff were friendly. Menu was was just a small one while things get back to normal and serving is conducted outside but the prices and quality was great. Same goes for the drinks. Can't rate the quality of pub enough, outside and in is so nice.

A small group of us were fortunate enough to visit...

A small group of us were fortunate enough to visit the Moat House in Acton Trussell for afternoon tea recently. The Moat House itself is a deceptively large venue but still retains it's countryside charm. The venue is surrounded by well maintained grounds with a large pond to one side and the canal to another. Ample parking is also available. On arriving at the Moat House we were directed to the restaurant for our afternoon tea. We were politely greeted, shown to our table and offered drinks, all the usual restaurant affair. So far, so good. The traditional afternoon tea: Two of the guests were partaking in traditional afternoon tea. Part of this experience involves the selection of tea from a range of 12. Our host for the afternoon poorly introduced himself and produced a tea sample box containing glass jars with all 12 tea options for the guests to choose from. Now, the idea is to smell each of the teas and make your selection. On the face of it, this may sound a little akward. It very well could have been. But it wasn't. In fact it was one of the most memorable parts of the day. Our host, introduced the teas one by one giving us tasting and smelling hints. Our host was clearly knowledgeable and remained professional whilst using appropriate humour to maker the experience all the better. After selections were made the teas were promptly provided with recommendations to leave brewing for at least three minutes as you should with most teas. Next up were the afternoon teas. These consisted of sandwiches, scones and a selection of cakes and puddings served on a three tier platter. The quality and variety of these was excellent with more than enough for provided for a large lunch. Now, what I haven't mentioned is that one of the two traditional afternoon tea guests is a coeliac. This means no gluten, which, normally means no afternoon tea. Fortunately, the Moat House cater for this and the gluten free afternoon tea was just as full of variety as the gluten containing version. I am reliably informed that the gluten free bread, scones and cakes were excellent. The gentleman's afternoon tea: I was partaking in a gentleman afternoon tea rather than the traditional affair. This means that instead of tea I was introduced to three thirds of real ale. This was followed by a large three layer platter including chips, sausage roll, scotch egg, coleslaw, fish fingers and a yorkie chocolate bar. There was more although the details slip my mind. Again all of this was excellent quality and very filling. After afternoon tea was finished we were offered additional sandwiches, scones or cakes from a trolley of goodies. All being full we refused but the option was there. All in all the Moat House provided excellent food and excellent service in a lovely and relaxed atmosphere. Can't wait to go back soon.

The gardens outside near the pond are lovely. We Sat outside and had a drink which was very nice and peaceful. Inside we had a small room off the restaurant booked which was very nicely decorated. We had a three course meal which was outstanding in quality. The service was really good too, couldn't have asked for more.

Went for Sunday lunch. The only thing I think to describe it as is mean spirited. Horrendously overpriced bland cheap ingredients. The staff are really nice though and they get my one star. They should spend some time in London to learn More

Me & my partner went The Moat House for a wedding event & stayed overnight. Had driven up from Birmingham & it wasn't a problem getting to get to the venue.
The building was Fantastic. It backs on to the local canal & the grounds were well kept. The room & facilities were great. Also the staff were helpful. The wedding & evening reception was exceptional.
Breakfast was continental but the choice was immense.
Would definitely recommend this hotel not just for the rooms & facilities but if you want to host a function.

Excellent food, organisation and service. They have maintained a lovely ambience. I wanted somewhere professional to take my parents out for first in months. Felt completely safe and almost normal apart from staff in black masks and gloves. Recommended even to the most wary. Really lovely

What a find! We had been exhibiting at the NEC all weekend and stopped off on the way home for food. Juat a short drive off the M6 was this hidden gem. The food quality was superb and excellent value for money. We will be sure to call in again next time we are in the area. A must visit!
