We were petting a hedgehog and they took it and sold it to a family in front of our faces. They also have some weird rock dogs that walk around.

Love the turtle that roams the store! Inexpensive tropical fish, some saltwater, a couple puppies and rodents! Pretty coo.

They puppies for sale which we were told were "first come-first serve" ONLY. I made multiple attempts to reserve/prepay for a puppy on the day there were to be available and was continuously told it was not possible. I drove 3 hours to get to the store on the available date to be sure I was first in line to get the puppy only to be told it was pre-sold the night before. I ask for the store manager to call and still have not received a call back.

Locally owned good selection.The staff and the owner are very friendly.

Lots of supply's for fish but not the best fish to pick from. so I recommend woofs and waves.

Got my cute dog there 5 years ago, still go there for some dog accessories here or there. Did the initial dog training there and learned a lot!! My dog was in a leg cast and they still let him do the courses which was great because he learned so much!

I get my Siberian Husky groomed there by La Shawn and she does a wonderful job. My husky hates a bath and she is very patient. Atiya looks beautiful after her grooming and has a lot of cost to blow and brush out. All the staff are helpful and friendly.

Ryan was great to work with when getting our first family pet. The staff was great as well! Will do business again!

The staff has always gone above and beyond for my fur pets and my feathered pet. I had an African Grey. She became ill I live in a small town the vet here made my bird sicker. I was able to call Mini Critters and talk to Ginger, she gave me the name of a vet, but it was too late and I lost my bird.
When we adopted a dog, she was scratching all the the time we went in to buy spray to make her stop the staff suggested a corn allergy they were right. We changed from a "top lable" to California Natural our dog never scratched her self raw again.
Yes they have had bad staff but what buisness hasn't.
But if you go to someone and complain about a bad staff member they listen, MiniCritters cares about Pets, Unlike big box stores.
I refuse to shop at the big box stores like Pet smart.

Just read a review from someone else, about the employees canoodling and being distracted. I've see that too. I've been in there a few times and am more disappointed each time. I'm done, and am kicking myself for ever spending a dime there. I just priced out a bark collar battery for $5.65 on Amazon, they sell for twice that. I had to "spur" the gal who answered my phone call pretty good to go see if they had them, then back after it again to get the price. They must hire based on Xbox score or number of followers on Instagram...the staff is young, dumb and distracted. The prices are sky high. I don't know what else we have in this area for pet stores, but Mini Critters has made sure I will have to find out. If the owner reads this, I'd sure like to visit with them. In my prior career I hired and worked with a lot of college age part timers. There are good ones out there, you just need to work hard at finding and training them. Good luck. With your prices, maybe you don't need very many customers through the door, or repeat ones. I hope I can prevent others from wasting the money and time I have with this outfit. Sioux Falls born and raised folks, isn't this the old French's pet store, with the nice old guy that used to appear on Captain 11? I cannot imagine that fella running a store this poorly.

Crooks- don't waste your money. I've been in here a few times and every visit was worse than the last. The staff are SO rude and unprofessional! I could go on and on, but will settle for telling everyone I know to steer clear of this business. Mini-Critters employees do not know how to treat customers! I would give zero stars if I could.

I wouldn't recommend buying a ''pet'' their when I first got my rabbit there they didn't really tell me anything and just said he was healthy but they didn't know was that the rabbit was bad bred and had teeth problems aka they wouldn't stop growing after 2 weeks I gave him a lot of toys, so I took him to the vet and they told me I had to come every month there to 'cut' his teeth to a shorter length and spending about $80 per month, so I would be careful and see their behavior before actually buying one.

I am very disappointed in Mini-critters,
I called in advance to let them know I would be coming from Mission to get a whole set up of red claw crabs for my classroom. I was told that the whole set up would be under $50.00. This was untrue. The whole set-up was over $70.00. When I got it to my classroom (4 1/2 hours away) the filter on the tank they sold me doesn't work, and two days later all but one of the crabs they sold me died.

Typically very helpful. Selection of saltwater fish has been very poor as of late, but are always willing to try and order in what you want. Prices are comparable for most things.

Staff is very accommodating and helpful. I take my Amazon parrot to get his talons trimmed and they are amazing at it. And it only cost me $5.00. Thank you minni-critters, special appreciation to ERIC. A friendly, likable compassionate man. You are undeniably the best animal caregiver in the city. the veterinarians and pet hospital staff don't hold a candle to you. Best in the city no doubt. Likely the best in the state. Arguably bestin the region. "DUCK" and myself are living a better quality of life due to your hard work and compassion. Thank you

Im pretty upset about my experience. I drove about an hour (brookings to sioux falls) to meet one of the puppys for sale. I wanted to see how i would do with it considering my allergies and i wanted to experience its behavior. This was an almost $2,000 dog. They said they would not take her out for me due to "stress". An hour or two later, a friend of mine with NO INTENT to buy, sent me a picture of her holding the exact puppy i went in the store to buy that day. She even told them that shes just looking and not buying. There goes my money, mini critters. Not to mention my time and customer satisfaction.

I always come here to spend $10 to clip my Guinea pigs nails.

They love animals and are outright good people. Take great care of your animals.

I went in to buy dog treats for my dog and a man with a 5' snake was in there with the snake wrapped around his neck. He asked the employee if he could buy a rabbit for bait. They happily obliged. At this time I was disgusted as these rabbits are clearly raised to be pets and not food. I decided to stick around and see how this would pan out. Instead of placing the rabbit in a traveling box that you would receive if it was a "pet", they placed the rabbit in a regular box then proceeded to shut the box. Once the box was closed the employee grabbed a pen and started stabbing "breathing holes" in the side, WITH THE POOR BUNNY INSIDE. The rabbit is already traumatized as the employee and customer had held the bunny and snake face to face before placing it in the box but to then stab holes in the side as if the bunny wasn't a living creature? ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. Also their puppy kennels are full of mold, and you should ask to see their grooming area before you take your pet there to be groomed - it is also is full of mold.

This was my first time here and the facilities was clean, well stocked, and the staff was awesome. Will be more than willing to do it again and definitely will. Was there to bath my golden doodle.

Very happy with the Doggy Daycare services offered at Mini Critters. The staff if always very friendly and they really make an effort to get to know each and every pet. I love that I receive a report card daily on how my dogs day went -- really makes it a personal experience. And for the price? You can't beat it. Two thumbs up.

Top shelf all the way. Lucky to have this shop in town.

The facility was dirty and the manager (Ryan oaks) is garbage and has fired their most valued employees. Also, another employee left that he should have begged to come back. This man does not care about his employees or the animals of mini critters. I have heard very unpleasant things about their boarding facilities and had to put my puppy down two weeks after buying her at this facility because she had a health problem that I was not warned about. I will never shop here again due to the disrespect felt by the employees and the uncleanliness of the facility. Also, they do not have insurance on their employees or a limit on the hours that they are worked :')

Great folks who are very helpful, there dog kennels are tiny and I feel bad for the big puppies that are put in the plexiglass case.

Staff was not friendly at all and said "I don't know" when I asked them about dogs. Very unprofessional. Not helpful at all. And when I asked about the spiders.. They looked at me like a was a freak.. And said "they're in the back..duh"

Have great stuff and prices but not everything I needed

Hands down, BEST place to get a fish. Eric, the biologist, is amazing! We bought a betta last year he took all steps necessary to make sure we properly cared for him. Fish Finally Passed 13 months later. We went right back to Mini Critters to get a new fish. Helped us choose a glow fish this time & educated us on how to care for it. So far so good! Thank you!!

I found both of my Boston Terriers at this location. They are happy, healthy, and a great addition to the family. The staff were knowledgable about the different breeds and made it easy to purchase the puppies. I was glad to see that the dogs get played with and the kennels were regularly cleaned. Mini-Critters also offered dog training classes which I took advantage of with the first dog. It made a huge difference. I didn't have time with second puppy and I regret it. I'd recommend this place for a puppy to my friends and family.

We took our two dogs in and picked them next day. It was less than 24 hrs. But they charged us for 2 days. They said check out was at 2 pm. We were not informed of this. The intake slip had a line for us to initial saying we were informed. We pointed out that it was not signed but they said we needed to pay a whole days boarding for a 1.5 hr. Over time which we were not informed of. Their care seemed fine, but customer service is greatly lacking.

Got my second dog here, it's been two years and we love him!!! They were really helpful, and we haven't had any problems with him. They had great customer service and we continue to go back to get supplies for him. Would definetly recommend this store!

Dogs here were adorable! But I was extremely disappointed how poorly they took care of them. Their "play" area was completely covered in feces and dog urine. The baby we were holding was shaking so much, we sat her on the disgusting floor and she peed in the corner... A lot!! Looked like they didn't let the puppies out to go potty in a while with how the puppy was acting with us. Staff was nice but you would expect the area to be kept cleaned for everyone and for this poor puppies. Plus the amount of money they charge for those dogs are insane.

The people. We have been coming here probably 25-30 years. Many critters - dogs, cats, birds, fish, and lizards, rats & rabbits when the kids were young. Much of that time has been with Ryan. He has shared much info and we have had spirited discussions over the years. Now that I am older he helps keep me on track with how we want to care for our babies. 17 1/2 year old Chico, 10 year old Zelda and now in heaven Mina kitty (lived 13 years) came from here. Several others help us, Eric with fish, Jasmine and more who I can t keep the names straight. If there have been any bumps they make them right. One of the biggest things, when we had to re-home our birds due to hubby s serious health, they were there to help.

Wonderful store, great customer service, clean, they maintain a really clean store.

We have boarded our parrot twice with MC now and both times we have been happy with what we pay for, no incidents. the birds are boarded in a back room where the boarding cats are also kept, which is fine because we have cats at home as well. when picking up our bird his cage had been cleaned, and his food container level had dropped so obviously they were feeding him. the staff said that our bird would sit on their shoulder while they cleaned his cage, and they talked to him when ever in the room. so far i have no complaints. $8 a day isn't a bad price either. and we used his own cage so he would feel more comfortable.

Boarded our dog there. Never again! She was so frightened and out of sorts when we picked her up she peed all over the floor! She had never been that way before or since at other boardings. Go somewhere else to board your dog.

Always friendly groomers. Bought 4 dogs from there ages 10 yr old, 8 yr old, 6 yr old, 3 yr old. Great dogs

Mini Critters also boards parrots, and takes excellent care of my Sennie whenever I am traveling.

My friend went in to buy a hamster, easy right? Nope,, tall guy behind the counter threw her the key and told her she could open the cage herself and look at them.. poor hamster looked like he was treated poorly, really anybody who wants to look at a hamster just throw em the keys and take off..
Unprofessional and cruel,, MC please train your people, Customer service is non existent and the poor hamsters need some love

Busy place, three people behind cash register counter, slow to help in various areas. We did get help, just not right away in the area we were most interested.

I've heard good and bad but only experienced good! Since going through new management, I have seen the reptiles being cared for much better, fish tanks not overstocked and a very small amount of puppies for sale. I don't like the fact that they support puppy mills but I do like everything else about the store, including the service that I receive. Service is prompt. good prices of frozed feed for my snake and have purchased healthy fish.

I'll continue to go back.

So many choices for pets I recommend this pet store above any in Sioux Falls.

I would put zero stars if possible. My dog was taken in for grooming and I was called back saying they weren't going to groom him, but that I still had to pay. I attempted to talk to the manager and talked to 4 different people before I got the grooming manager. She wasted no time to put the blame on my dog and said that my dog was 'not having it' (her words), was biting, growling, peeing and pooping on himself immediately. I have never had problems getting my dog groomed before and although he might playfully bite, has never bitten people, especially when mad. I asked if she has ever had stressed dogs before, and she said yes, and asked what she did to call them down. She said it depends on the dog and whether or not she HAS TIME. If it is your job to groom the dog, groom the dog. You have time. That's what appointments are for. I asked if she could have done anything to prompt the behavior and she insisted she hadn't, but was very defensive the entire time. Besides not grooming my dog, she was incredibly rude and unhelpful, and the service in general was very frustrating. I would caution everyone to never take your business there, especially for grooming.

Got both my fur babies here ! Staff are amazing I will definitely be coming here for my 3rd. They take good care of the puppies

The only place I will take my dogs. They could use a larger selection of food brands though.
