Very cool place with great food and service to match. Visiting wausau for a tournament, and we were glad we tried wausau mine co. Well worth it!!!

Worked here once but had to quit do to the disgusting food storing and handling practices. No one and I mean no one there is a real cook. Don't know how they are still around.

Food: Has a good variety - pasta, burgers, Tex-Mex, Sandwiches, steak, fish, etc. I would say the burgers are their specialty. The rice and beans tasted a little off, and they don't have super spicy options if you're into that, but everything was seasoned very well.
Drinks: They were good. Nothing special, but good. They have really good specials each day.
Prices: Very reasonable!
Atmosphere: Really neat! Everything was decorated nicely. It was family friendly and the kids enjoyed the neat mining theme

Fast service, responsible prices, great food.

I ordered a hot beef sandwich and was served a hot cheesy mess of a dish that was everything I could have wanted it to be. Soft warm bread, delicious beef, and melty cheese. Take my advice, don't try to dip it in the au ju. Just dump the juice on the sandwich and eat it with a fork and knife.

We loved this place, wall decor was of a mine, service was awsome even though it was happy hour and mid dinner time. All the food we had was great, definitely a place we will return to.

"Too much" cheese. Well, there was a lot. On almost everything. Not a complaint, but my arteries can't take it.

Very good food and friendly staff. The theme of this place is one of a kind; as the name implies it is themed like a mine. The last time I saw a restaurant themed this well was in Disney World. Definitely a worth a stop if you're in Wausau.

Called ahead to get on table list. Still had to wait on site for 30 mins. Many others, who didn't call ahead, were seated ahead of us. One group of 8 was told they'd have a 45 minute wait, then were seated within minutes... Server was good, but 1 of our 3 entrees were cold, like maybe room temp, cold.

Has very good food, and great specials throughout the week.

The steak, hamburgers, and marinara sauce is great. The fish fries is also pretty good. Do NOT order the chicken they always overcook it. Also they have this seafood pasta dish that's also pretty awful. I like that it's very laid back and the prices are fairly decent.

(First, a quick ***Celiac / Gluten Note*** : Website noted that such items would be listed as "GF" on the menu. We found no such listings on the evening menu.)

Unfortunately, we got the shaft this time at The Wausau Mining Co; service-wise. In checking the reviews from the past week, it appears at least 2 other customers had similar issues involving this establishments' service speed/quality. Third time is a charm, they say - or....is it rather a problematic trend? It does appear to be a periodic issue brought up in several other past negative reviews, despite plenty of apologies by management.

My Wife & I were here in Spring for the first time (one our 2-3 annual trips across the State from Denmark to Eau Claire& beyond) and had a 5-star time (see my prior review). Despite our prior experience, and with so many other wonderful and inviting opportunities to check out for dining in Wausau, it is looking unlikely that we will be going off our beaten path again for this establishment.

Today, Saturday night (11/03/18), 5:55 PM, we pulled into their lot and saw only a few parking spaces left. We decided to give a courtesy call first, and we were told that there was no waiting: immediate seating.

We walked in, were warmly greeted by a young lady who immediately escorted to the back-left corner table for two, and who gave us 2 menus. It looked like it was going to be the beginning of a very pleasant and intimate dinner. We noticed several people leaving as we came in the front door, which had made the dining room about 3/4 filled. We also saw what appeared to be a good number of staff buzzing between tables.

About 5 minutes later, we noted that a group of four were seated at the table kitty-cornered from us. That made all 3 tables next to us occupied.

About another 5 minutes later I saw that the table of four was now enjoying their drinks. We had yet to have someone stop by, little less offer us even water.

And still about another 5 minutes later, I saw the table of four now had appetizers. We had yet to have anybody even look at us at our table.

During the 21 minutes we sat at our table, I watched wait staff attend to the table of four 3 times. The two ladies at the table next to us had their staff person come at least twice - as did the table immediately behind my wife (which also had a fourth staffer come from the kitchen with some boxes for them).

My wife confirmed that 20+ minutes without anyone even acknowledging us since being seated was definitely not me being impatient (She used to wait tables).

Two stars because our greeter was good. Nevertheless, we were absolutely stunned and disappointed at the lack of service. I had been looking forward to a nice fish dinner, I had lost my appetite (I have NEVER walked out of a restaurantt in my life before being waited on - that s not my nature and tonight was very unsettling) That said, my wife had just had surgery and needed protein before the night was over (her schedule that day had her last eating an early lunch). We ended up having dinner at our local Subway upon our arrival home at around 8:15pm.

Subway never disappoints-but it s not quite the fish dinner I had hoped for tonight, nor the quiet Couple-Time my wife had been looking forward to. According to Google, the restaurant's website says, "At Wausau Mine Company, our promise to you, our valued customer, is that we serve the best product in a friendly manner to ensure you are satisfied!...." I am afraid that we did not feel rather valued at all, and their promise rings rather empty this evening for us.

If you're looking for gluten friendly food that tastes so good you'd swear its got gluten, this is your place. The environment was fantastic, our server was very nice and helped through the entire meal, the decor was impressive as well. Overall I'll be making the drive all winter just to ski and stop here every time after. Definitely try it out, if I could rate 6 stars this would be the first time I would!

It had been awhile since we were here....
Maybe 5 or 10 years actually, but missed the memories so we stopped in for date nite, later on a Saturday nite around 8:45 pm. The food was amazing, tasty, hot, and fresh to order. My husband had the salmon with gargonzolla butter and I had the fettuccini alfredo with shrimp. Even the bloody mary was fair to good, lol ( im pretty picky with those!) we were reminded why we loved this place so much!

I have been and still am currently waiting for service have been here for over 30 minutes and haven t even got asked what I would like to drink.

The food was absolutely amazing. Great service too. Good covid precautions. Just wish some customers would be polite enough to follow them.

What a fun place to eat. Great fun ambiance. Pizza was great and the cheese curds were amazing. Now I'm hooked on cheese curds. . We had great company. Great service and great food. When we visit Wisconsin again, we'r will be sure to visit. Thanks for fun times.

I Had My Yearly Physical At The Marshfield Clinic Stettin Center Which Is Across The Street Just Up The Road A Little Bit.
I Rode My Bicycle From Stevens Point To Wausau For My Physical.
Then After My Physical, I Went Ahead And Had Lunch There. Especially Since I Pedaled A Long Way On An Empty Stomach.
You Guys Have Good Food And Good Service.
You Picked A Good Name For One Of Your Burgers.

Interior of this place is awesome. Food was good but I must also comment on the excellent service we received. Next time I am town I will stop in again.

This place has amazing food, I always get the blackened chicken salad and my husband gets the mallow sub and we are always happy with the service!

Service was slow, waiter was rude - didn't even say hi, didn't stop back to ask how the food was, left us waiting for the bill for quite a while. Food was greasy and salty. Got a prime rib sandwich, was tough, chewy, and fatty with a soggy bun. Wouldn't bother coming back.

Everything was fantastic! From the minute we opened the door to meeting the manager at the end of our meal. We felt the need to sing the praises of our delicious dinner and our super server, Johnny.

Service very very slow, not even busy. Cheese nuggets were cold, pizza was burned, waitress never came to check on us, ran out of soda. Never go back again.

Decor is styled as an old school mine, so though it is not bright and cheery inside it has its own charm. Food and service are very good, and there is a full bar. Lots of fun old mining equipment inside and out complete the experience and sense of adventure.

First time and the last time here
Wish we would have went with our first choice on going somewhere else ... this pic is of the dirty floor which all the waitresses stepped over even the manager and it stayed there the whole time we were there...all the floors were filthy ...rice was old and very dry and just gross was served a very very hot plate with out being told it was that hot ... husbands fish well... I could smell it from my side of the table and it wasn't a good smell he didnt even get what was to come with his meal waitress said it wasn't supposed to come with it and uummmm yes it was said it in the menu ... so no we wont be going back ...
