The place at a great location, but sadly the bartenders were extremely rude. Lazy when making their drinks and rude to the customers throughout. I saw her shake our cocktails and serve them with the same tired ice. Also, the lady just banged the drinks in front of us when they were ready and same with the card when she was done swiping it. It is sad to see them spoil the vibe of what could be a really cool place to hangout.

And the rest of the family also agreed on their food (chimicanga, chicken quesadillas and carne asada) being really good.
Also, the nachos really really good, and we are kind of a nachos experts.
Only thing I did not love was my michelada, it was not bad but I ve had much better.
All and all, I would recommend this place to anybody.

Went here after attending the Boston Pride Festival at Government Center not too far away. The drinks were weak and way overpriced - the bartender noticed our rainbows and group waiting to be served. All 3 bartenders at the time ignored us despite having money/cards out ready to order and pay. When no one else was looking for service, they finally tended to our order. Apparently you need 2 people present at the bar, even if your group is obviously at the high-top tables on the patio to order a pitcher of sangria...we ordered two pitchers of sangria and two separate glasses for a total of 7 people. She checked all of our IDs and charged our cards for the order.
She gave us 4 glasses to use for the pitchers but I told her we needed another glass for the group. She rudely snapped back that she already gave me 4 glasses and wouldn't give us a 5th glass claiming she hadn't just checked all IDs in the group. I pointed out to her asking who she needed to card...she took her time looking at all the people and randomly picked someone out who gladly came over to show her ID again. The bartender rolled her eyes and gave me another glass finally (after she already charged us over $120 total for the drinks).
The drinks were really weak and tasted like orange juice. The bartenders were completely unfriendly and biased and I would strongly recommend NOT going here and going to many of the other options nearby. DO NOT GO TO MIJA, not worth it!
I love this place. I have come several time with small group and big groups of friends.
I m in love of the decor. It s perfect when it s snowing in Boston and you get to see the snowy Faneuil Hall from the inside.
They have good food. The menu is not that big, but it has good selections. There are very good cocktail as well. I even asked for a drink they didn t have in the menu anymore and the bartender was nice enough to recreate it for me.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Bathrooms are clean, big, and they have big mirrors. The only thing I would love they keep is to go with the team of the restaurant and play all the Time Latin music.
They are close to the T, but if you drive I m sure you can find close parking although pricey.
I went to this place just to get out a bit. Big mistake. The servers were handling the glasses by the rim which means everything they touched went directly into your mouth. Fortunately, there was a box of disinfectant wipes that I used to wipe it. When the server saw me doing that, she came and took the wipes away.
If you decide to go here, note how the servers are handling the glasses. Better yet, avoid it completely.
The ambiance was nice and fun, but we had to ask someone to sit us, and also had to find someone to take our order. Otherwise, the drinks were fine and as they we're open late, it was rather convenient.
I went with a group of friends for the $1 per taco Thursday special. It turns out taking advantage of this discount makes you a second-class customer in their book. The manager wouldn't give us enough chairs for our group's table, because "paying customers" had made reservations for other tables. The reservations in question never showed up, and we spent dinner sitting on each other's laps even though there were several tables with empty chairs nearby. The tacos weren't good enough to make up for the poor service.
Customer service and quality of food is horrible. Such a disappointment.

Horrible weak drinks. Mojito was bland and weak. Food was kinda ok I ordered swordfish skewers with green rice. Rice was extremely oily. 2 pieces of Fish were raw.. sent plate back and they made me a new plate with 2 raw pieces. (SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!). NO one in the group enjoyed their food. Definitely NOT worth the money. Oh service was slow too.

Great food and cocktails. Tends to have a younger crowd, and great music. Have had mixed opinion lately as on couple of occasions the place was dull while most of the time I've seen it packed. Staff can be more customer friendly.

Rude bartender and staff. Unsanitary as well. Everything on the bar has a coating of dust and grime. I witnessed my bartender (Shira) massage her coworker (man w/ kiss tattoo on side of neck) back and neck and twirl his hair in her fingers. She then proceeded to get limes without washing her hands or using tongs. Gross especially since it was a hot and humid day. Aside from that the food is greasy and drinks overpriced. And the guacamole is lacking actual avocado. Cutting to many corners. They also spam your email with their happy hour after work party specials every other month. Hope to never step foot in this place again.
Love this place, the atmosphere is awesome and so is the staff well the Guy bartenders at least!

MIJA Boston great bar. Quality Drinks and your moneys worth. Alex @ the bar is amazing always wiling to go out of his way to make GOOD drinks. Keeps you coming back for more. I would recommend MIJAs any day! I love this JOINT. Last but not least the food is great authentic MEXICAN. Can't go wrong with some Tacos and Margaritas. Kudos to MIJA go check out the bar and ask for ALEX!
i come to mija all the time with friends. They have a good sized mexican menu with tons of options. they also have a nice selection of tequilas which is one of the main reasons i come here!

I have no idea how the food is here because the service was so abysmal that we never even got the chance to order. We were seated immediately because the restaurant was NOT crowded, the lunch rush having ended already. 2 tables were seated in our section after us and were immediately approached by the waiter/offered water/etc. Meanwhile, my boyfriend and I had been sitting for over 20 minutes with ABSOLUTELY NO SERVICE. No one came by to even introduce themselves so I cannot even name names. 4 waiters passed by our table and every time I tried to wave one down or make eye contact they looked the other way. After 25 minutes of this we decided to go somewhere that is actually capable of providing the bare minimum service. I am truly so disgusted by how we were ignored that I specifically made a Yelp account to submit a review there as well. I wouldn't come back here if you paid me.

Stopped in for some beer and chips around 3pm in the afternoon. Waited for a waitress who never came. No one even approached our high top table.

Took them an hour to bring us our food. There was a hair in my nachos. I never got the water I ordered twice. Then the server charged us for another table. The food is not good enough to put up with this.

Husband and I planned a long weekend get-a-way to Boston from East Windsor, CT. Soooo glad one of our stops was MIJA. We went in the afternoon for lunch and a margarita, the food was good, but the margarita was a little off - but found out the bartender was new.... but we decided to give MIJA another try for dinner. We went for dinner on Friday, April 29, 2016 and it was a totally different experience. We sat at the bar, and met Lisa who was a GRRRREEATT bartender, along with the girl that was working with her. Both bartenders were very friendly even though we were "outsiders " and made us feel welcome. We tried margaritas again with dinner and they were top notch - it seemed even the food in the evening tasted and was presented better. It is always nice to have a bartender like Lisa who makes the evening enjoyable and gives it a "fiestive" feel. Even though she was busy, Lisa had time to keep working and talk to all the customers on the side of the bar. Thank you again for an awesome night!

I've been going here for 7 years. It's my and my closest girlfriends go-to for a great night out. Love the atmosphere as well as our favorite bartender Crit that works the tequila bar in the back. Small dancefloor, great music by a DJ and a diverse crowd. Love love this place

Overpriced, too loud, unfriendly staff who think they are working at the royal palace. Take a second to realize you are just servers at a touristy taco shack and calm yourself. Not really worth anyone's time or hard-earned money.
We had the nachos plate which was good. Also had Samuel Adams beer with the nachos.
This was the worst Mexican food we've ever had. The margaritas were horrible. You have to pay for chips and salsa and the chips were hard as rock . When I asked for refried beans on the side, the waitress said "oh yes, plantains"!! My husband asked for beer on tap and she brought a bottle. Don't waste your time or money.
Great atmosphere, good music, drinks were excellent. It felt a little crowded at the time but you could still move around and enjoy with friends.

I was very disappointed with service at Mija Cantina. Mainly the management staff.
A group of friends were in town and wanted to grab a bite to eat and some drinks. We decided to give Mija Cantina a shot. Being a local I should have known better than to take them to a Faneuil Hall (tourist) restaurant.
We ordered a round of drinks and some tacos. As the waitress brought over our drinks she spilled the entire tray on a member of our group. As unfortunate as it was, these things happen. We accepted her apologies and did not make a big deal of it. She brought over another round and said our drinks would be taken care (i.e. paid for).
When we received our bill we were surprised to find that the drinks were not taken care of. Our waitress said we would have to talk to her manager and sent him over. He was among the most rude managers I've ever encountered. He said the drinks that were spilled were taken care of, not the ones we drank. We argued with him to no avail. Meanwhile, a member of our party wreaked of various alcoholic beverages and was still sopping wet.
The manager's attitude was confrontational, rude and completely unacceptable in a service establishment.
I've learned my lesson and will not steer any of my friends, guests or random tourist I meet to the Mija Cantina.
The atmosphere is amazing and I loved the DJ! but service is everything. Not the best Mexican food but I don't expect much in New England. Went there with some out of town friends for a Friday night drink, bartender was so rude. We didn't get napkins for drinks (which come before the orders) after 15 minutes. No one serviced until then too. It was a slap in the face but we gave them the benefit of the doubt. It wasn't busy since it was raining but the bartender was rude but it was his birthday so maybe he was celebrating. his excuse later was that he knew we weren't going to tip. I still tipped, I've been a server before but literally, better service is needed. Expecting us not to tip brings a lot of assumptions and walking away from us when we're trying to speak isn't nice. Better drinks. Also....clean up a little bit behind the bar. Professionalism is key.

Terrible service, rude staff and management. Went here with friends and family through a bar crawl. Staff was uninformed of the specials that were set up for the event. Flyer said to inquire within, which is what we tried to do. The bartender was so rude instead of asking someone else for help on what we were asking, he decided to call the manager and we were asked to leave the establishment. It s unfortunate that due to the bartenders rude behavior and lack of knowledge our day was ruined. I wish I would have read the reviews to this spot before bringing everyone here. Seems like other people have had issues with staff and management here as well. Don t ever come here!!!!
first time at this restaurant. It being a tequila bar and taco spot figured we try it out, huge taco lover. Ordered nachos weren't that great ordered chicken tacos weren't that great ordered steak taco which was good but not worth the price. Then got of course churros for dessert those you can't go wrong with. Anyways, service was very slow on a TUESDAY. wasn't that busy to be providing such poor slow service. No one checked up on us. (Party of 2) and took forever to clear up our plates after finished. Overall I wouldn't be back, and wayyyy overpriced!

We ordered three dishes all of which were delicious. One with subtle sharpness and the other two without any sharpness, probably adapted to the American palate. Mexican food should be more spicy. Large portions are served nicely. The Saviche Shrimp dish was very tasty just lacking in spicy. The flavors were balanced, the lime was felt if the shrimp were well made. We enjoyed it, highly recommended
Maybe I m bias because my husband ( DJ Havak) and brother (DJ B Kay) are DJs here but I love this place, food is really good and they have an impressive list of Tequilas to try ... this is the place to be Friday or Saturday night
The drinks here are fantastic, however, the hostesses are very rude and glared at us when we arrived. The girl who sat us scoffed after we said thank you and sat down. Not a great overall experience because of that.
After 9 PM the DJ is poppin'. The crowd is primarily young professionals. Security is aware but not overbearing and the drinks are moderately priced
