Mercure Hotel Amsterdam City Review

Quick check in. Lovely crafted beer. A great location

We were there for three days. The room was very nice and clean, a super comfortable bed and as requested in our booking with shower and bath. The hotel itself is about 10 minutes from the stadium Overamstel away from there you can get everywhere by train. It is really an impressive hotel and very nice inside. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Highly Recommended. The next trip we will come back safely.

Too far from anything, food, nightline, quiet lanes

Amazing service, friendly staff just a bit too far from the center. My fault for not doing more research before booking. Would be great for business meetings. Morning boat ride into the center was fantastic and well worth the 6 per person. Had the entire boat to ourselves

Fantastic place nice people superb breakfast and dinner options. List of menu is quite short, but good quality food is served.

We were upgraded for free on arrival. Had dinner once. Was pretty good. Turkish pita was good.

Our room was lovely and the welcome staff were helpful and friendly. However, on the morning of check-out, I received a bill via e-mail which had many items that we did not order or had already paid for. For example, breakfast was added on for the 3 days which we hadn't had. We were also charged twice for metro/tram tickets and a bottle of champagne which had been paid for. It took a while to sort out and the check-out supervisor was unfriendly and did not apologise. Sadly, it left us feeling a bit disappointed.

There is no shutle bus, you can use the train from Schipoll airport to get off at the Zuid station, change the tram down at "Overamstel" then walk around 7-10 min to the hotel. LINE 51 tram can go to the central station.

You must try the AmsterDAMM burger!! The staff and place are great. I've stayed a few times and even after the second stay was greated with my name and they could recite our last conversations...very impressive!

We went to Amsterdam and stayed in this hotel. The bed was comfortable, staff were... okay, the WiFi was amazing and the food was delicious but it was also very expensive. There wasn t much kids channels on the TV, but it was still good. Overall, I think the hotel was enjoyable.

I payed over 200 euro for one night and I couldn't take a bath because of a water supply problem. I asked for a refund at the reception and I was told that I will not get the refund because it is not their fault that the problem happened... All they offered me was a free breakfast. It seemed all the staff cared was that the hotel is not held responsible for the problem. I am disappointed with the service and I do not recommend this hotel.

Attention to detail, large rooms with all comforts, friendly and helpful staff, 600 m. from the subway.

Nice hotel but quite far from the city center. If you come by car be carefull to consider the extensive fee of the mandatory parking place adding to the room fee. Sauna/fitness room is a joke ! So tiny and not very well maintained.

My stay was OK. Bit of a hassle getting into town.
Also parking is ridiculously expensive - I stay at a lot of hotels and 99% have parking included.
Reception staff that checked us in could have been friendlier.

Dirty room next to the bed I found the cap of a pen bottle arrived in the room. Then a deaf ear plug for the ears under the bed left for all my present .... I'm sorry, we're not ......

Very dissapointed ,extremely rude ,receptionist accused us of shop lifting ,even though we had already paid in the shop ,pubic hairs in room and drawers ,not nice at all

We had to cancel and, despite the fact that it was stated that you could cancel for free, our money was not refunded

Good hotel, well connected by metro. The problem is if you want to enjoy the nightlife ..... Since the last metro is at 12 o'clock at night ..... And the only option is the taxi

It was great all in all, except for the air conditioning that didnt work and the design of the shower tiles, which caused the toilet to flood every time I showered.

Good welcome, paid parking (and how much is the amount) is best written at the time of booking, tiny room, never seen so small, looked like an ibis budget.MA above all there was an ear plug on the floor as soon as they are arrived and none of the housekeepers picked it up for two days! Cleaning, negative.

Great hotel in amsterdam. Not quite close to the city center. 400 m to the nearest tram station.

Burgers and beer for 24.50, breakfast for 22.50 - but it was not special

Satisfied. I was attended by Xadim who was extremely helpful and jovious. He advised me to buy a 4 days pass to save on transport costs. This was extremely useful for us as this was our first trip to Amsterdam. On the 4th day of my stay, when we return to the hotel in the evening, we saw Xadim at the reception counter and we approached him again as to how we can go to Rotterdam, Delft, The Hague and Leiden in a day. He attended to us patiently and explained the route to us. He also advised us to check if there was a day train pass so that we can save costs. He was a wonderful stuff and the hotel was lucky to have him. I hope the hotel management can value him and reward him accordingly.

The room was quite comfortable and your hotel provided us with laundry service which was outstanding. Would have liked alittle more help with how to get around. There was a small problem with something found in the room but was taken care of quickly. The food in the restaurant was superb! Ive never had salmon so delicious in all my life. Also the mini Stache convenience store was great and such a bonus. Overall, thank you for the hospitality and quiet stay. I will definitely recommend staying here to friends.

Unfortunately, the hotel is a bit further away from the city center, but is within easy reach, if you take a longer walk in purchasing. The service was not very good. The bathroom was not clean and the room service did not come daily. The hotel has refunded us as compensation an amount.

Far from Amsterdam, in an industrial estate. The rooms with two windows, one of them can not be opened, modern but looks like a box, not suitable for claustrophobic

Really nice place with good rooms. Very impressed with the internal communal layout. Such a good use of space.

Only down side is it is very isolated on the edge of an industrial estate. That said the Metro (No51) gets you into Central Station in Amsterdam in around 25mins door to door

Although the booking is checked in early, the room was not locked; the second day we had to change rooms and even though the room was double, there was only a pair of slippers and a bathrobe. In addition, there were no stirrers in the room to turn the sugar in the coffee!

Worst wi-fi a 4 stars hotel could hope for.
Wi-fi is now basic necessity like clean water or heated rooms. Just to public this review it took forever.

Modern hotel a short bicycle ride from the Centre of town

Excellent. With warm welcome in a modern hotel with contemporary decor.

Very clean and cosy room and served by friendly, polite and helpful staffs. Convenient to travel to the central by Metro which is a few minutes walk. Alternatively can take hotel shuttle bus to the Metro station.

super nice hotel. nice staff, nice modern bar and restaurant. for breakfast: there was little choice of cold cuts, but delicious coffee, espresso, milk coffee etc. and always freshly squeezed juice. The cleanliness of the hotel was good.
would recommend it!

It is a hotel located a little away from the center of Amsterdam, but with the train you are right in the middle ... clean hotel staff very kind breakfast good and plentiful.

Hotel chosen for city break. A bit out of the way and location unfortunately directly on a busy street, so sleep with open windows getting used to.

Breakfast was good and on weekends also until 12 o'clock possible. Room could be better, a bit stale and not as clean as hoped. Window very dirty.

I stay in Mercure hotels a lot being an accor member, the reception area and restaurant/ snack food look great, very modern but our triple room was very old fashioned, only had paper cups for tea and coffee, felt a bit let down with the quality considering the price we paid, it's quite far out from the centre we got Ubers a lot as there was three of us and on our final day of three we took the train to the station which was pretty easy. Staff were very nice though so that's a bonus, won't be staying there again, Mercure need a hotel more central i think.

Breakfast was awesome. Beds were comfortable. But the cooling system was weak, it was getting hot quite often. Also the shower leaked through to the toilet room that made it uncomfortable.

Wonderful days in Amsterdam, the hotel is amazing very clean and the staff a charm, we will repeat for sure !!!

The people were friendly and helpful, but the room was a little warm for my tastes and the in room thermostat didn't seem to change things. Also, there was an unclear 50 euro charge on my bill that I didn't notice right away.

Average hotel, doesn't feel like 4 star hotel, apart of lounge area (which is actually really nice). A la Carter menu in the bar - choice is small. Sleep quality afwull. Beds are absolutely old and uncomfortable. We didn't get proper sleep during all our stay.
Rooms are much smaller than on picture, literally for two people there is no space even to turn around. I booked DOUBLE room, but got twin room. On the checkout Charged me more than was my booking.
Also rude and not friendly some of the bar staff.
I was very disappointed with hotel and my choice, will never go back.
I would definately advise hotel to make refurb, change beds, and carpets, as our one was with big dirt mark in the middle of the carpet. It's not what you expect from 4 star hotel.
By the way metro station is around 12 minutes walking (shuttle you can get on the weekdays only from 9am to10 am, weekends 9am to 11am).

Very far from the center. Cleanliness of the room leaves something to be desired as well as the needs of the traveler in relation to the bathroom such as toothbrush, bath cap, etc.

Nice hotel. Comfortable. Easy walk to facilities and tram stop not to far. Problem with the air conditioning in the room, but they were quick to address the issue.

The hotel is not in the center but has good access. Lack of lounge and pool.

We have stayed here for 3 nights and it has been a lovely stay excellent hotel and staff ,we ate here a couple of times and the food is excellent, its slightly out of the centre which was fine for us a few minutes walk to the metro which has a really good service ,cant fault it we would certainly recommend.

Spacious, amazing shower, right on the canals, breakfast was included and was great!

Clean and quiet room despite the hotel being well stocked. Windows could simply open so that sufficient fresh air could flow in. On the right side you have a nice view over the Amstel. Extensive and good breakfast. Metro station within walking distance but there is also a shuttle service.

Despite all the information on the site, no one spoke French in the hotel ...

Dirty and expensive. Rarely experienced such a thing. Strangle and never again ....

pity that access to the city center with a boat is limited to 2 niches in the morning, river access is so easy, maybe create an opportunity for an independent to transport your customers on demand (A + R) to place of a walk of 10 minutes to the metro bit "picturesque" ... We should have taken the car, but we were recommended to do so, too bad!

Close to the ring highway around Amsterdam but still kind of central and close to the RAI, this hotel aims at business travelers primarily. The rooms are functional, not too well lit and offer most things a business traveler needs such as desk, coffee maker, iron and ironing board. Bathrooms feature a bath tub. Some rooms need refurbishment; word is that the rooms in the A tower have been modernized recently. The lifts can reach their capacity easily on days with a lot of check outs. Taxis are always available.

Near the highway. Very well located. Well soundproofed. Clean ok. Restaurant very good too. Friendly staff.
