Looking at the reviews, I hope I'll have a great experience in the future because I secured my mortgage through them from my credit union. They've been helpful as far as I'm concerned. Also, thanks to Creditmason Repairs, the company that helped me shape my credit on my journey here, they removed all negative items on my report and that massively boosted my credit, I'll suggest them if you need to clean up your credit report.

When I first got my mortgage with them 2 years ago...

When I first got my mortgage with them 2 years ago they were slow and unresponsive. It took escalating to management back then to even get to closing on time.

Now almost 2 years later I've paid off my mortgage and they send all my mortgage payoff documentation to an address IN ANOTHER STATE. I haven't lived at that address in over 2 YEARS folks. Absolutely shameful.

Calling their member line wasn't helpful either. The lady on the phone wouldn't even change my address to the correct one saying I'd have to e-mail to do so. She never apologized nor could she explain why her company somehow sent it to the completely WRONG address in a different state! She stated "it appears we never updated your address." Well obviously not!

Literally the worst mortgage company I've ever worked with. Glad my mortgage is paid off and I won't have to deal with them ever again. Will never recommend.

I have been with them for my past two houses. Both times they did not pay the first payment due to insurance through escrow. Then they called and complained because my coverage was going to be canceled. So then I get a great surprise of having to pay out $800.00 because they did not set up the escrow correctly. if you do not have a lot of cash on had this is not the company for you.

Member First Mortgage took me through the homebuying process at a time when I had many competing priorities. I was treated with care and concern and I was very pleased with how responsive they were in keeping me informed of the process.
I will recommend my family and friends to work with them, they showed care and concern for my needs. I was very appreciative of the time Kevin and Heidi allotted to answer my questions and I love my new home!

We refinanced our ARM that was with Elements into ...

We refinanced our ARM that was with Elements into a standard Mortgage. They sold the mortgage right away. Fairly normal, but the notice came on plain paper in a hand-written envelope. It took 4 calls and multiple e-mails to get it straightened out over 2 weeks. There were several e-mails afterwards due to the fact that the new servicer (Loancare) did not send me my info to be able to pay the loan. I ended up getting this via a phone call, with the account letter arriving 3 weeks after my bill was due.

We are now going on month three, where Loancare notified me that the loan had been sold again. After verification by phone, I was called by Elements the next day about the sale not being accurate, despite the validation the night before. I was then called by Member First and told that they were "80% sure" my payment should go to Loancare, but he would verify.
There was no call back. I just got the letter stating that this was not the case on Nov 29th. I have paid this month's bill to Loancare.

As of 8:45pm today, I received a notice from the group they supposedly sold the loan to (Mr Cooper), stating that my loan has in fact been moved to Mr Cooper.

When your home is on the line, this is not a place I recommend you find yourself in.

IfI could review with 0 stars, I would. This was the worst loan process my husband and I ever dealt with. The communication was awful during processing. Supposedly a glitch happened but we were never I formed about it until we started looking at other loan options with different lenders. When we asked if we needed a septic and we ll inspection at the beginning of the process we were told no, only to come to find out it was a condition of the approval that took 4.5 weeks to even get. Then we had to scramble to get inspections and repairs done to their underwriters liking .
To top it off. Our loan is due tomorrow and we have yet to hear a peep out them. We don t even have a loan number for reference.
We are counting the days down until we can refinance. This loan process started out hopeful and it became a stressful nightmare and it hasn t ended. But hey a third party did sent paperwork wanting us to confirm things that were signed in the loan, this week, like 3 days ago. No contact from the lender though besides asking us if we wanted to review them.

Was not very impressed with organization skils. Heidi would ask for multiple things, multiple times. Even after i gave a written statement, the same question would be asked again. Very repetitive, and just unoriginal. Needs to manage documents and customer information better.

Lowest rate i shopped among 10+ companies. Communication was pretty good back and forth over email. Relatively easy to submit documents. But the goal was to lower my payment, and they were the most aggressive APR/rate.

This is the worst mortgage company ever! I will be refinancing so that I never have to deal with them again. I have received so much conflicting information that I never know what I can trust and they don't take responsibility for their errors. Absolutely horrible! Do yourself a favor and steer clear.

I do not know why I keep coming back to these folks. I shouldn't have to be more worried about how upset I will be contacting the folks here than the actual mortgage process. I have 2 mortgages on 2 homes with them due to working in different places now, at the time I got the second one, I had to go to their management and management at my CU that recommended them to get them to return any calls and lost one home I was looking at because they couldn't be bothered to call me back. Today I called about a refill, and got the same unprofessional garbage treatment I have always gotten from the. I am going to try someplace nee.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. My experience with this company is solely based off a current experience. I originally applied for this loan back on August 3rd and had received an email to continue finishing or can call in. Well I called in and spoke with the Buckley Geno III. He had the biggest attitude ever. Red flag. Then I receive a phone call from a Kevin Trumble a couple of days later. Here it is August 26th and I have only spoken with their loan consultants Kevin Trumble over the phone once and via email maybe twice. I have reached out one time and one time is enough if you re trying to gain me as a customer. I shouldn t have to chase someone down to respond to my emails and voicemail. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOURE DESPERATE AND EVERYONE ELSE HAS TURNED YOU DOWN. AND EVEN THEN JUST CONTINUE TO WORK ON YOUR CREDIT AND GO WITH A RESPECTABLE COMPANY. Reaching out to speak with anyone else is a joke. I called in and their receptionist phone is horrible. After explaining to her that her phone connection was bad she just hung up the phone. Getting to a manager is a joke. Again, DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY.

Over all the process was smooth and mostly painless. Everyone I talked to was great. The only caveat came when I switched from a 15 yr to 30 yr I was told there was a fee ($1500.) to switch terms because of my credit score. These types of charges and interest rates imposed by company s are ridiculous, something I d expect from a bank.

Worst experience we ve ever had with a financial institution. Definitely would not recommend. Continually asked for the same documents, we were told multiple times that the mortgage was approved but at 5 pm the day before closing the Title Company had still not received the paperwork. The stress we were put through by this company was totally unnecessary. They were unprofessional and incompetent. It was too late for us to apply to another bank but we no longer have any confidence in Members First. One star is still too high a review.

Everything with them has been good. The only problem is the payments. First checks in the time we are in people don use anymore, so by mail we dont do. Then online it always locks me out so it's such a hassle to call and unlock it every single time. This loan is my father's so I only help him out, therefore when he wants to pay by phone they always hang up on him because they dont have anyone who speaks Spanish, and that frustrates me to much! They close extremely early so for me to reach them on time to pay I have to get out of work and go help my dad. I know it's like geez ita just a payment, but doing this every single month for something that I shouldn't have to struggle with because I do all my payment online with no hassle, really does frustrate me. So fix the website problem and get a bilingual worker.

I had the pleasure of having Jerry Brockman as my mortgage consultant when I made a request to refinance my mortgage thru Member First Mortgage. Jerry was a pleasure to do business with. It is so wonderful to work with someone who is not only very good at their job, but someone who honestly enjoys their job. My previous mortgage was with Bank of America and I had been trying for three years to refinance with them and got nothing but negative responses. My first contact with Jerry was a twenty minute phone call in which I learned more from Jerry in those twenty minutes than I did in three years of communications with Bank of America. Jerry was extremely informative, very personable and always available for all of my inquiries. I would definitely recommend Member First Mortgage to anyone I know.

While working with a buyer for our house, the communication with this lender has been everything short of professional. The mortgage officer our buyer has been working with, Jeff, has displayed extremely poor communication. While trying to sell our house, his lack of initiative has resulted in the continued use of our savings to pay for two mortgages. I highly recommend any potential home buyer seek assistance elsewhere.

This is the second time this year that our online payment through our credit union has been returned to our account. The money goes out of our account automatically on the 28th of the month and back into our account about the 12th of the month. No notice or phone call until it is late enough to incur a late fee.

They are rude when I try to figure discuss how this could happen. I am not ever rude to customer service. Just want to be sure it does happen again. So it is very aggravating when someone gets snotty and defensive instead of helping solve the problem.

Because of the incompetent personnel with this organization, the closing on our home is going to take 90 days, twice the amount of time it should have taken. There is a lack of accountability from their leadership to motivate their employee(s) to provide a second-to-none quality of service. Seek other options if you re in the market for a home mortgage. Also, I m sure there will be a cookie cutter style reply to this saying we are so sorry . You don t respond to your marketing account emails.

I can't begin to explain my frustration with this company. I have had multiple issues with the escrow and payment departments. Be aware of what you are paying and what is suppose to be paid. I recieved a cancellation notice from my insurance company, which the mortgage company was suppose to be paying since closing, written and contacted. I've gotten the same excuse multiple times. Last year, the starting if this year and today. My monthly statement is always incorrect.
I do admit, Katie was very helpful and sweet while I raged out my frustrations about how asinine some one could be to ignore mulitple notifications from my insurance and did i recieve one phone call from the mortgage company? No.
By far the most stressful and frustrating company to deal with.
Like I said, this is not the first time something like this has happened. Last time I received a "so sorry" and a fruit basket last time. I am tired of spending hours on the phone and rummaging through paperwork to prove my contract and to prove what is suppose to be getting paid and done.
As I read the complaints below about receiving no callbacks at the time of purchasing and credits, this is also true. When we first started going through the process of purchasing our home, it was a complete nightmare. Purchasing a home is suppose to be enjoyable, it was chaotic, hectic and a cluster trying to get everything in order due to people on thier end runnimg around like a bunch of chickens with thier heads removed. I am not happy. We will see if anything changes in the future, but it seems like a going thing that things are constantly messed up.

GREAT EXPERIENCE! So willing to work with our special circumstances and I felt like they bent over backwards to get things to work out for our situation. Jeffrey Marklevitz and Paige Moore were AWESOME! They answered ALL my questions promptly - usually within a hour or so via email. They always told us exactly what was happening and why the process was taking the time it was (not that it was long - but just normal mortgage processing time things). I would highly recommend Member's First Mortgage!

I had originally applied for a mortgage in late July. We did not close until early November. I felt the mortgage originator could have kept me more informed. I had also received 3 different closing quotes. Each were higher than the original quote. The mortgage originator blamed it on a software mix up. The actual closing had gone smoothly.

1000% recommend Member First for all of your mortgage needs. This is my second time working directly with Eric Beckett and his team. I have sent Eric a bunch of my friends and family over the years. I'd never consider going anywhere else. If you like personal attention and great communication during a stressful complicated process, he's your guy. Paige Moore is one of his team members, this was the first time I have worked with her. She was on it! almost daily communication with me about what was going on with my loan and what the underwriting department was asking for. Truly a wonderful experience, it was a pleasure to work with Eric and his team on my mortgage. I will continue to send him anyone I know in the market for a mortgage.

Terrible customer service, -5 stars Downright worst mortgage experience I have ever been through. They took almost 6 months to close, I have a 801+ credit score. Already had an account and loan with them. Also not my first mortgage. They don't return calls in timely manner, leave you under assumtions, then change conditions last minute and say it was a "mistake". Then Sold my mortgage off to another company before EVEN closing. Every step of the way was bs and didn't need to be. But use another credit union because CUs have the best rates. Pulled my credit a second time, BECAUSE OF THEIR INCOMPOTANCE. It was their fault, not mine, things got delayed. (Someone was supposedly off work) not my problem. Dropped my good credit score because of this. Said they would fix it and never did. They said they would have a manager call me after the loan process and work things out, when I said this is wrong. They never did. Thanks for nothing in the beginning and nothing in the END. Look elsewhere if you want good customer service.

Her along with the Member First staff took care of all that needed to be done and the whole process went smoothly and efficiently. Would definitely recommend "Member First Mortgage" to anyone in the mortgage market.

Well, so much for your "changed process"! This month I recieved the April pymt coupon March, 27th. I finally recieved the March coupon March 2nd. On top of coupon, it states "allow 7-10 days for postal delivery"? Why can't you people follow your own advice rather then being hypocrites? And why do you date pymt coupons the 14th of the month yet wait 10-12 days before mailing? As far as talking to a loan manager, forget that. All I got was, "If you don't like the pymt option, then use another option. My reply was, " If I can't trust you on this option, why would I trust you on using a different pymt option?". Over ten years of dealing with this bank and it's been nothing but stress.
It's too bad I have to give these people one star in order to post review on google, otherwise they would get no stars.

1 star is too many.

My husband and I are in the process of getting a mortgage. We have jumped through all of their hoops: 2 appraisals, a water test, septic sketch, various inspections. We have now signed 3 extensions and are 8 days from our closing date, AND NO ONE WILL CONTACT US BACK. Our loan agent(s) have ignored phone calls and emails from both us and our realtor for days. They can t even bother to call us back? It s appaling.

Originally I was introduced to Member First though my credit union - recently while trying to refinance to record low rates - my credit union has been very slow to change their rates - so I called Member First - since they already had my loan. Kevin T and Heidi B have been excellent to work with - very responsive. I could not believe they got it all done in a month!!! They sent a person to my house to sign the papers!!! It was the easiest process I have went through to date.

Over the past 7 years while they held my mortgage there have been a few snafus - like my taxes not being paid from my escrow on time - but they have always made it right or at least ate the costs and fixed it!! There was a period of 2 to 3 weeks were their website would not let me make my payment, but they also handled that too.

I had an alternative rep initially through another company and the different between him and Jeff was night and day! Would definitely recommend.

I applied to refinance a loan to add an additional...

I applied to refinance a loan to add an additional garage and egress window to my home. Aside from asking to do a VA Loan and having to ask again. Then get a loan amount and sign papers. Thought all was good. Needed to pay for the appraisal. I thought it was already completed. No, it wasn't.

The appraiser they use works in the best interest of the bank vs you. Find an appraiser that works for a realtor for value in my honest opinion. Per Member First Mortgage you can pay for additional appraisal after you pay them $450. Also if you have a finished basement this does not add to your gross living space because it is "below" grade just an FYI. The realtor appraiser listed my house $20-25k more than they did.

Some other things that miffed me were.
1. Having to call someone about three times before I got a call back.
2. Signing the Paperwork when it wasn't the actual amount of the loan.
3. Appraiser they use. You can look them up they don't have great reviews and it shows their office is an apartment building/garage?

Terrible company - they are constantly messing up my escrow and tax payments. Customer service is frustrating. I cannot wait to refi with someone else. My retaliator tried to talk me out of this but we didn't listen - BIG mistake. Don't make the same mistake as we did - go with a GOOD company!

I was referred to Member First by my credit union and contrary to other reviews, I had a great experience . This was due in large part to Jason Smith! Jason promptly answers emails, answered any questions I had when calling him, and they got me a closing date within 30 days of my paperwork going to underwriting! If you have dealings with this company, I strongly recommend you use Jason. His dedication to his job shows, as several times he was responding to my emails before 7:00 a.m. This Company is lucky to have him. I hope with the addition of employees like him this lender is able to make a positive turn around and rid themselves of the negative reviews. I have yet to make a payment as I just got into my home so I am unable to comment on the ease of online payments. I have, however, taken into account the reviews written on this issue. I will update if I encounter a problem.

We closed on our home in October they haven't paid for our flood insurance and it's January. I would never use this mortgage company again nor would I suggest them to anyone else. I've noticed they respond to the five star review but Not to the 1 star reviews

My experiences with Member First Mortgage could literally not have been any better. From day one I was treated with kindness and respect. I felt like I was a friend rather than a customer. We have completed both a refinance as well as a new home purchase with Member First with no regrets. Loan products were explained to me clearly and recommendations were made based on our particular needs even with special circumstances. Member First Mortgage, with their loan officer Jim Rogers, has truly made our dreams come true! We were able to get our dream home and could not be happier. I would recommend that anyone in need of a mortgage or needing to refinance please don t hesitate to contact them today.
